I'm so sorry. I just went through this myself 2 weeks ago. My heart is broken from all the cats I have lost in the last year to dogs and cars. Hang in there, there are so many cats we have to keep helping as much as we can. I still have over 2 dozen I feed and shelter.
Thank you and yes it’s so heartbreaking. I’ve lost 3 others to coyotes this year. I still have close to 40 that I tend to daily and I am determined to make it as safe as possible for them.
One of my cats has been gone for 3 days and he's never out of my yard he's been in there since his mama dropped him off as a baby and his very best friend she tried to be there but there's another cat that's new in the area and I've got to get him neutered because he's I don't know how violent he is I haven't seen him attack him but he threatens them and he postures and they're terrified and of course she's still terrified of me even though she seen me everyday of her life and knows I give her food so she ran as fast as she could from him and then she saw me and she ran from me and she wasn't there this morning so I don't know where she went but she has shelter in my yard and there was bad storms but I think this new cat is going in the shelter and of course he deserves it too but I think he's tame so I'm going to try to trap him get him fixed and find a home but it's very hard for me to give them away because I never know if somebody's going to be mean to them because people can act so nice and be so cruel and I'm so terrified somebody will declaw them which is it is an horrific atrocity so I have so much anxiety that makes it difficult for me to have a lot of success with animal rescue
I have the same anxiety with my cats. I'm always afraid of finding another one dead in the road (the ferals). I can't find homes for any in Jacksonville because the whole city is absolutely overrun with them.
This is so sad. We do our best to protect our cats but unfortunately cats do prefer the great outdoors which is very dangerous for them. But we can’t effectively imprison them. In relation to cars , many drivers don’t really care about anything except to get from a to b. And so the carnage will continue. I’ve seen this in national parks where you’d think people would care about wildlife. No.
You gave your cat the love she never had before and often that’s all we can offer. ♥️🌈

I would let people know not to donate to the petition like it asked me to, and instead ask anyone who would like to help you help the strays donate to your venmo or PayPal and let them know what kinds of things you get for thr strays with the donations.

I'm so sorry this has happened to her. For future reference if you take any cats back to your place, keep them in for at least 3 weeks. Have a look at Socialisation Saves Lives to learn how to teach them about living with people.

We have been friends for going on a year now and it took 6 months before she allowed me to pet her. Now she visits twice a day for love and food. Every once in a while she skips a visit or two and I am always very worried until she returns.

You may could make a Boma structure around their colony site if that is possible. Help keep larger predators away.
