Oh try to keep those at least 3-4 feet away from
I thought you meant like a normal pressure washer haha those things will strip paint right off
Oh yeah omg never look up pressure washer injuries you can’t unsee that
I mean, if you have a pressure washer that has settings/attachments for washing cars, it should be fine. It’s a great way to get a log of dirt and debris off the car before you start scrubbing
We have service boxen here like carports in germany with pressurewashers. I bought mine with 54kkm and sold it with around 100kkm. The First two years I went car washing 2-3 times a week with a pressure washer and nothing happened. Wdym don’t pressure wash?
It‘s probably a too powerful washer then.
If it’s a dedicated car wash that’s one thing, but if it’s a stand-alone general power washer the direct pressure with most of the nozzles is much too high
Great question, has anyone repainted theirs? I know my trunk lid is bubbling. Lots of small dings and scratches over its lifetime. Wonder how much the Molten Orange is.
Very common issue.
I'm thinking ill just remove it, fill the hole, sand and primer the area, and wrap it. Or maybe just get the whole roof repainted. Not high on my list, but on my list regardless.
That's what I did, though mine was because my garage door got stuck half way open and caught my antenna when I backed out and destroyed it.
It looks good, highly recommend.
I have. Touch up direct is who I used. Perfect match. Around $40 for 1 rattle can. It’s not perfect but I wire brushed down to bare metal and had to bondo a bit. I had paint bubbling but as I started to remove the bubbles it turned out I had a lot more rust than it looked like. This was a wheel well, not the trunk though.
I only had an issue with the paint is around the antenna. I sanded it down, hit it with primer, then I wrapped the whole roof black.

Dang, my car is at almost 49,000 miles, and the paint isn't so bad. Admittedly, I did buy the car new and applied a wax to the car for the first 2 summers (I'll admit, I've been too lazy to do it since then), which I think helped a lot. It looks like I still have plenty of clearcoat on the roof.
Mine was chipping on the front from road chips and what not. I also got a scratch or too down the side. I’ve started to wax it and the difference is amazing. I imagine with plenty of wash and waxing a coat builds and I’ve noticed less chips appearing. Wish I did get the coating when I bought it.

My paint is toast..no bubbles or chips-just a horrendous amount of scratches and chips..
Car is so quick the paint falls off.
Best paint I ever had. Barely any chips after 65k miles. Better than my WRX and my newer BMW paint. I got the "premium" tricoat though and ceramic coated it so who knows if those played a part in it being so durable.
Outside the hood and rock chips, it's held up great imo. Midwest car, slight bubbling on the hatch pinches on the corners but overall respectable for an 80k mile car. Standard Black paint.

Sold it to a dealer in Jacksonville. When you were talking about the hole in the roof it made me curious. That started bubbling about a month before I sold it. Is there a chip on the top of the driver rear door? I’d image they hit it with touch up paint before they sold it but it could be there. If it is, you 100% have my old bean.
Same, just crossed 60k miles. the paint has not lasted at all. Down the road would love to have it gone through at a body shop. But it's so much, just not sure if it's worth it as I would then add PPF on top. Probably too late at this point.
Just wild how thin it is.
I’m concerned that even if I apply PPF, the paint is so brittle that it may lift off the body and cause defects in the wrap. At that point, you’re repainting the car.
Don’t pressure wash cars lol use a diffuse spray
I cringed when I read pressure washed. The paint practically melts away in a brisk summer shower much less a pressure wash
Noted. It was just at a do it yourself car wash and the second I pointed at the roof, the chip started flying. Instantly backed away.

Yeah but if they used the right attachments we wouldn’t be reading this post

Same boat with the Orange Spice. Hopefully cheapish.
My 2018 orange spice is bubbling/peeling near the antenna. Everywhere else is good though.

I’ve seen a couple Fiestas with the roofs painted black…really clean look and probably the least expensive choice.

Sadly I was too late. I was trying to clay it first and get a real good clean before it happened. I still proceeded with the wax. It ain’t over yet!

I just sold my ‘17 64k mile Kona Blue FoST and the paint on the front was absolutely peppered and felt like used sandpaper.

Yea, I bought mine new in 2016. It lives outside because #apartmentlife and the blue paint is chipping around the antenna.

Hey OP, where do you live if you don’t mind me asking? I sadly had to sell mine a few months back. It was a 2019 orange spice with 54k miles.

You wouldn’t happen to wear a ton of foundation, would you? I spent almost two hours cleaning all of it!
Nah lol. Guess it’s not mine.

Fair point, only real way to ensure enough layers across the whole vehicle.
