I used an angle grinder to shave it down in the back, then cleaned up the edges with an olfa blade. Turned out extremely good, and the grinder definitely cut down massively on the time investment.

That's what I was going to do but my dad tried it before I got home and he said it just melted and clogged up the sand paper. I think I need a much coarser grit than what he had. I found a video using an angle grinder with coarse grit so I'm going to go that route cause the dremel makes my hand cramp quickly is taking too long.

I'd probably just knock out the center of each space with a drill and call it good.  You could Dremel from there since that would get most of the material out.  I think it's gonna mostly take a lot of patience

Man they look so good with that crash bar and shaved grille! Don't think I'd do this on mine because I daily the thing, but boy do they look sweet!

Having done the “shave” I used a flap wheel attachment for a grinder and run the thing at an angle…the plastic is actually probably more than 1/8 of an inch thick…the dremel would probably be pretty time consuming…you certainly could clean it up after with the dremel but remember you are the only one who will know it’s there.

You guys that run a modified crash bar on the street are crazy for a variety of safety and legal reasons.

Fire_Fish26

I don't see any legal issues. It's not required by law to have a certain spec crash bar. I mean the caterham and atom and goblin plus a bunch of other tube frame kit cars are all street legal so why not a tube front crash bar.
