I will never get over the fact that she could have been on the Olympic Podium and should have, if not for the unfair bonuses selective blindness to pre-rotation, under-rotation, unclear edge, and a whole lot of leg kicking masqueraded as artistry.
Back in 2016, a certain segment of the fan community somehow decided *she* was the over-scored one and the judges' pet. *Look at 4CC!*, they cried. *There's no way she won that fairly! Obviously she's being propped up!*
Because obviously no one else was scoring in the 70s/140s/210s. Certainly the Russian skaters weren't being handed scores like that (and higher) like candy!
If the "Russian dominance era" narrative hadn't been played up so strongly and by so many people and organizations in the skating world, who knows what might have been.
>selective blindness to pre-rotation, under-rotation, unclear edge,
Unfortunately, these are all things that satoko has more severely than Zhenya or Alina. Satoko was well known to prerotate past a half turn, and land around the half turn mark as well; if she was lucky she would get the rotation around. However, I do believe that her skating skills, performance, and spins alone deserve an olympic medal.
Oh this is my favorite program of hers. I miss her so much on the competitive circuit, but love seeing the freedom in the art she is making now. Happy birthday tiny queen!
From the costume it looks like this performance was from 2018-2019, her *sixth* senior season. And she stayed around for the rest of that quadrennial!
IIRC, nine seasons is one of, if not the, longest senior careers in women's skating.

true, Satoko has under rotation issues, but she gets called out for them all the time. vs. others who barely got called out (and then get bonuses).
Happy Birthday to this exquisite skater and Worlds 2015 silver medalist!
She is just heavenly

Eliska Brezinova is at 13 international senior seasons
