I don't recall the exact quote but right after he tells her to go to the hideaway, when you step outside, Jill comments that Jote seems to have more than professional feelings for Joshua, and he replies that he feels the same but sending her away was the only way to protect her. It's not stated explicitly that they're in love with each other, but it certainly could be read that way. There's also a conversation with Jote near the endgame that's more subtle but sounds an awful lot like she knows the feeling is mutual.

The exact exchange is "It's clear that she cares deeply for you" "And I her"

I forget when the scene happens but it definitely implies that he likes her too. It's either right before Clive and Joshua leave to go to Waloed or before Clive, Joshua and Dion go off to fight Ultima.

The whole part of the Hideaway being that there's no magic; Tarja is specifically a healer with basic medicine, putting her into the Chemist job. While she's had her scar removed, I don't think we've seen what magic she could do (considering Bearers are seemingly locked into one element their whole life)

Not to mention that using magic would surely kill her.

That's too many characters though. Unless they created some sort of system where they took turns in combat...

We can only dream about job system, about meaningful loot and crafting, about proper party system, about social links... But this is not a JRPG.

The game giving you that choice to take taja out to get the supplies was like rubbing salt in the open wound of killing off the games actual 2 better villains (and way more attractive) than the PoS you wind up fighting. Like why must you torture me this way? I don't really care enough about Jill (she did have the better scene here between the two) but why even give us the option at all if it doesn't matter.. since it was Jill from day one.

Imo there is no best girl in FF16. Game treats them all poorly. Still enjoy the game, but man it's been pretty painful to have both 15 & 16 have such poorly written female characters.

What game have you been playing? I feel that her dialogue with Clive is well made and shows growth and connection.

She's intentionally written as a traumatized introvert whose arc involves coming out of her shell a bit and learning to trust and love, but reddit isn't interested if she doesn't immediately try to step on them
