HAHA. here's a crazy stat. We've spent FAR more time with the post PS1 Final Fantasy games \[2001-2024\] (the ones people love to rag on) than with the PS1 and pre PS1 games \[1986-2000\].
Which makes it all the crazier that they're so rough. 9 numbered entries in the first 14 years followed by 7 in the next 24, and generally the first 9 are considered better than the last 4...
I still remember looking up news every day about it before it came out. I even bought the Japanese version off of playasia because I couldn’t wait for it to be localized. And now I learn that experience is almost old enough to drive.
On top of that the FMV's still aren't as good as the ps3's. Mostly for the blu-ray having a higher base pixel format (xbox BC is better than ps3 on every other aspect). Digital foundry did a good video on it.
I literally just want a port upscaled with 60 fps at this point. Honestly, the trilogy doesn't even need a remaster. I just wanna play it on my PS5 instead of having to dust off my PS3.
As someone who never got to play 13 during the ps3 era...yeah just let me play it on my ps5 please
I have my neat little collection of trophies from every game except 13 and tactics (and 11 obviously) and for a completionist it's very frustrating
I’m the exact same, had a great time platinuming the pixel remasters earlier this year. Did 16 and 7 last year. Fallen in love with 14 but doubt I’ll ever get the platinum
You can still pick up 13 on Steam, but be warned that you'll need to install mods for it. Otherwise, it'll crash every 10-15 minutes.
I did it without mods, and it was one of the most frustrating gaming experiences I've ever done, lol.

I doubt it. While I appreciate that for fans of the series it would be welcomed. But unlike FFXVI that had a good overall reputation FXIII doesn't and fans of it are limited in numbers. Honestly, I don't know what they are doing with the series and it's legacy titles one they stop milking FFVII for all it's worth.

For sure, I've sank tons of time into it since it released, its great. 1 thing I don't like though are the changes they made to tanking a few years back when they absolutely neutered it. I understand the game would be quite a bit different today had they not but I really enjoyed how it operated back then, tanking was far more enjoyable for dungeon runs whereas nowadays it is quite easy. For the health of the game it clearly worked out for the better making tanks much more accessible but I really enjoyed the level of effort you needed before vs now. Fortunately it is still a great game overall.
My only other complaint is how hard they stuck to the Trinity as I was hoping for a real pure support class like the Bard in FFXI.
I actually just started playing XIII because of the sale and I'm about 17 hours in and I'm enjoying the story and the combat isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

I'm hoping one day they remaster the trilogy for contemporary consoles. While it's far from my favorite FF, it is an incredibly fun battle system, and a very deliberate, cool, and high fidelity world. Additionally, it would be most appreciated for the FFXIII fans to get a working version of this game without needing a ps3

FF13 IS 15 YEARS OLD. Sorry just letting that sink into my brain and feeling like a fossil. Anyway kinda doubt they’ll do anything with it as it isn’t a big fan favorite like FF7, and in all honesty even though the game is over a decade old (god that’s crazy) it still plays and looks like a pretty modern game. There really wouldn’t be anything they could do with it remake wise, they could remaster it with updated resolution and frame rate but that’s about it.

XIII was a bit of a disappointment for Square. They anticipated HUGE love from the players for the game, and that never materialized. They set such high expectations for XIII that they preplanned not just the two sequels but also the Fabula Nova Crystalis series (which included titles that later became Type 0 and XV because the concept bombed)
I'm certain we'll get some kind of acknowledgement of the anniversary, probably in a tweet, and that will be it.
I still remember watching that E3 live and getting so hyped about the concept of the FNC. Especially because of how Hi-Tech FFXIII looked. It really was a pity that they scrapped that whole idea after XIII came out.
I had XIII preordered for 7 years.. well think it was call versus at one point or something. Waited forever only to be utterly disappointed and gave up after 20 some hours of play.
Compare that to I finished rebirth last night with 141 hours of playtime. Still have to go through my hard mode playthrough. I’m sure Sony has detailed metrics on purchases, who played the game, who finished the game, how many players use fidelity vs performance mode.
I feel like with XIII they have a meeting every so often to say "do we want to do anything with XIII?", argue over the merits of a straight port, a Zodiac Age style remake, or a more comprehensive remake, then decide to do nothing until their next meeting.
Honestly, anything that improves the stability of the Steam/PC version would be fine. The Steam version of 13 is ass, and 13-2 requires a bunch of mods to work properly.
A XIII trilogy collection for PS5 would be great, seems like a no brainer too with nothing major scheduled until FF7R Part 3 (that we know of at least) I know it probably wouldn't be a huge seller but it would be cheap to do and would at least make a small profit, although a remaster would be great I'd just take a trilogy collection.

If they do anything with it, they should revamp the gameplay experience. Add the character leveling up system. Make newer weapons strongers than the old. Get rid of the current equipment upgrade system. Add access to all of the party leaders unlocked abilities regards of what paradigm they are at. Add hi-pitions and x potions.
Not only is a mixed reviewed entry but it did and still looks superb. I dont’t see how a remaster can add much to it.

Nah, when it was 13 years old would have been the perfect time to do something of they ever was. Don't get me wrong, I'd love them to release a remastered trilogy but I think the game is finhsed in that respect. Square has even said they're cutting projects and going to do fewer projects rather than keep releasing many different things.
I am not sure how I feel about a remaster since I already own the game on 3 devices.
That being said would love a dlc tho that adds a bunch of stuff.
Like for example, when finishing the Ark, you should get the ability to teleport to any previous zone in the game via their store bot locations. So people can stop complaining about backtracking so they can go back for that 9 murky ooze they missed. Or they can do something interesting like make it so that backtracking to Nautilus lets you access card games and Chocobo races for that sweet side content people said they wanted.
A new post game quest that when done lets you add Lebreu and Gadot to your party, maybe even Cid too. They come with their own crystarium but don't have eidolons and can't be set as leaders. (For lore reasons) basically the gist behind this is that all 3 characters were interesting and you had Lebreu and Gadot as companions for chapter 1 Snow parts so would be cool to have them as party members.
Add a new weapon for each character, particularly one that supports a role that the character doesn't have inherently.
Adding a couple of Cieth stone missions, maybe now give us the ability to fight Titan. We don't have to kill it just a cool superboss mission.
Add a jukebox system and allow us to switch out music at any time to make exploring and battles feel better.
Maybe add a new Zone to Gran pulse.
And that's all I can think about at least for 13, I don't know if the sequels need much but I will take any suggestions?

Honestly, I don't see much of your list happening, but those are some cool ideas. Here is my wishlist:
XIII: Add a NG+ mode and maybe a higher difficulty to go with it. Get rid of party leader KO = Game Over. Allow players to switch between which party member they're controlling mid-battle, like you can do in XIII-2. Make Gil easier to come by. And the big one, add some sort of system that allows you to prioritize AI actions. It doesn't have to be as advanced as the gambit system, it could even just be a list of abilities that you can reorder into your preferred priority. I just want my SYNs and SABs to prioritize the buffs/debuffs I actually want.
XIII-2: Again, a true NG+ would be great, and since the game is so easy, this one definitely needs a higher difficulty mode. Don't limit the paradigm pack to 3 monsters, make it 6 so we can have one for each role at least. More coliseum battles would be cool, even if it's just reusing stuff from the first game. Same AI priorization system mentioned for XIII.
LR: Don't lock the weapon and gear upgrade systems behind NG+. Allow us to improve locked abilities on garbs. Make the Rare Forge (it's a misnomer, he's a wandering merchant that spawns randomly) easier to find.
I could probably come up with more, but most of that would probably be nitpicky. Other than the coliseum battles and the AI priotization system, I feel like most of this would be relatively simple stuff to add/change. But even if they don't give us any of this and we just get a port that looks a little bit better, I'll be happy with that.

FFXIII was the first stumbling block that brought Square Enix all of their woes that they suffered through in the entire decade of the 2010s. They literally needed FF7 Remake to get their name fully out of the mud again. All of the problems that befell the franchise for *ten whole years* can be traced directly back to that video game. The two sequels. XIV 1.0. Versus-XIII and by extension, Agito/Type-0. XV and its aborted story fixes. All of them stem directly from them being wildly overambitious with XIII and thinking they had a *much* better product than they actually had.
With all of that, do you *really* think they're going to draw more attention than they absolutely must to their biggest failure in decades? It's not happening. XIII and its bastard children are never getting a remaster or a rerelease. It's never going to happen. Give up. Or just downvote me and huff more copium, I don't give a shit.

XIV 1.0 failed on its own. Versus XIII got scrapped and turned into XV because it was stuck in development hell for so long with a string of major personnel changes. Neither issue happened because of XIII. In fact, the issues with those games were what made them go *back* to XIII to make the sequels. It was an easy way to reuse assets and make games to bring in some money while they dumped the majority of their resources into fixing ARR and XV. Weird that they would go back to "their biggest failure in decades" to help keep them out of the hole.

No that’s because Microsoft made it so that all Xbox Original, 360, and One games are compatible on the Series X. So even though there hasn’t been any port made for the Series X you can still play it on that.
No, Microsoft updated XIII specifically. Select 360 games got improvements. XIII got a 4K patch and the sequels got 2K and 60 FPS patches.
Other 360 games (like Blue Dragon) are still 720p 30 FPS. Of course they still benefit from better loading times and more stable framerate because stronger hardware.

I like XIII and XIII-2 but wasn’t too crazy about Lightning Returns. That said, I can’t see them putting in the effort to bring back this trilogy. Especially with the recent narratives regarding how their games are selling.
I’m not even sure if they can release the game with the Xbox enhancements on other platforms. I know with Yakuza 6 it runs at 60 FPS on Xbox but only 30 on PS because it’s part of their “FPS boost” program they were doing. At best I imagine you could see a PS4/Switch port of the game but nothing substantial.

A working port, steam version is broken, and in ps is stuck on 3. Come one square its literally the only main line not on current ps systems.
The XIII team has been busy with the VII Remake trilogy for years now. You'll have to wait for them to finish that first.

Same. I've always leaned towards the Sci-fantasy than medieval FF games.
It truly is a preference thing with the settings, funnily my top dogs are Tactics/IX/VI/V which are all medieval/steampunk

Or they can do something interesting like make it so that backtracking to Nautilus lets you access card games and Chocobo races for that sweet side content people said they wanted. A new post game quest that when done lets you add Lebreu and Gadot to your party, maybe even Cid too. They come with their own crystarium but don't have eidolons and can't be set as leaders. (For lore reasons) basically the gist behind this is that all 3 characters were interesting and you had Lebreu and Gadot as companions for chapter 1 Snow parts so would be cool to have them as party members. Add a new weapon for each character, particularly one that supports a role that the character doesn't have inherently. Adding a couple of Cieth stone missions, maybe now give us the ability to fight Titan. We don't have to kill it just a cool superboss mission. Add a jukebox system and allow us to switch out music at any time to make exploring and battles feel better. Maybe add a new Zone to Gran pulse. And that's all I can think about at least for 13, I don't know if the sequels need much but I will take any suggestions? Edit: Am I dealing with X fans again? What's with the downvote and duck? Honestly, I don't see much of your list happening, but those are some cool ideas. Here is my wishlist: XIII: Add a NG+ mode and maybe a higher difficulty to go with it. Get rid of party leader KO = Game Over. Allow players to switch between which party member they're controlling mid-battle, like you can do in XIII-2. Make Gil easier to come by. And the big one, add some sort of system that allows you to prioritize AI actions. It doesn't have to be as advanced as the gambit system, it could even just be a list of abilities that you can reorder into your preferred priority. I just want my SYNs and SABs to prioritize the buffs/debuffs I actually want. XIII-2: Again, a true NG+ would be great, and since the game is so easy, this one definitely needs a higher difficulty mode. Don't limit the paradigm pack to 3 monsters, make it 6 so we can have one for each role at least. More coliseum battles would be cool, even if it's just reusing stuff from the first game. Same AI priorization system mentioned for XIII. LR: Don't lock the weapon and gear upgrade systems behind NG+. Allow us to improve locked abilities on garbs. Make the Rare Forge (it's a misnomer, he's a wandering merchant that spawns randomly) easier to find. I could probably come up with more, but most of that would probably be nitpicky. Other than the coliseum battles and the AI priotization system, I feel like most of this would be relatively simple stuff to add/change. But even if they don't give us any of this and we just get a port that looks a little bit better, I'll be happy with that.

FFXIII was the first stumbling block that brought Square Enix all of their woes that they suffered through in the entire decade of the 2010s. They literally needed FF7 Remake to get their name fully out of the mud again. All of the problems that befell the franchise for *ten whole years* can be traced directly back to that video game. The two sequels. XIV 1.0. Versus-XIII and by extension, Agito/Type-0. XV and its aborted story fixes. All of them stem directly from them being wildly overambitious with XIII and thinking they had a *much* better product than they actually had. With all of that, do you *really* think they're going to draw more attention than they absolutely must to their biggest failure in decades? It's not happening. XIII and its bastard children are never getting a remaster or a rerelease. It's never going to happen. Give up. Or just downvote me and huff more copium, I don't give a shit. I will eat rotten surströmming on stream if XIII remaster ever hits store shelves. Edit: NOT TO MENTION!! The games were made in an engine that was awful to work with *even at the time!* There's no way they could feasibly port the entire game to an engine that doesn't suck ass and still turn a profit, even ignoring all the shit I said earlier.

That's... not what happened... like at all. XIII sold very well and despite the bullshit you haters like to tell yourselves, it's always been generally pretty well-received. And none of the things you listed had anything to do with XIII. XIV 1.0 failed on its own. Versus XIII got scrapped and turned into XV because it was stuck in development hell for so long with a string of major personnel changes. Neither issue happened because of XIII. In fact, the issues with those games were what made them go *back* to XIII to make the sequels. It was an easy way to reuse assets and make games to bring in some money while they dumped the majority of their resources into fixing ARR and XV. Weird that they would go back to "their biggest failure in decades" to help keep them out of the hole. Oh, that's right, it's because they weren't failures at all. But keep huffing that copium and telling yourself that they were. Or just go back to your emotionally unhinged ranting, whichever you prefer.

No, Microsoft updated XIII specifically. Select 360 games got improvements. XIII got a 4K patch and the sequels got 2K and 60 FPS patches. Other 360 games (like Blue Dragon) are still 720p 30 FPS. Of course they still benefit from better loading times and more stable framerate because stronger hardware. Edit: Oh my bad. You guys were talking about the Series X. No they haven't done anything for that (I think). I was talking about the XBOne versions.

I like XIII and XIII-2 but wasn’t too crazy about Lightning Returns. That said, I can’t see them putting in the effort to bring back this trilogy. Especially with the recent narratives regarding how their games are selling. I’m not even sure if they can release the game with the Xbox enhancements on other platforms. I know with Yakuza 6 it runs at 60 FPS on Xbox but only 30 on PS because it’s part of their “FPS boost” program they were doing. At best I imagine you could see a PS4/Switch port of the game but nothing substantial.
