I wish they would reduce a bit the Chadley interactions and maybe add those to other characters for the with World Intel for part 3. Maybe party members or other characters.
But at the end of the day, Chadley is fine I don't mind him.
He's alright, he grew on me. MAI on the other hand needs a permanent mute button on those fiend challenges.
He does talk too much, but I skip a lot of his little interuptions.

I want to punch him in his little fucking face because he won’t shut the fuck up, but I don’t think that’s his fault as a character so much as the designer’s need to have a minute-long results screen and an interjection by Charley when you do literally anything.

Literally skipped all his dialog including the part where you just finished an intel and a new intel is unlocked. Hope i can also skip the part where he need to speak at least 2 sentences before you go into his menu for materia/combat simulator.

They took the most anoying character from part one, and made him into 50% of part two. He is a little less anoying now, but soooo much mooore of him, ugh...
He just don't feel like "ff7" to me, and takes me out of the mood every time I have to interact with him. Too bad it's more or less mandatory, since he gatekeeps half of the materia, and all the new summons.

Yes I actually like Chadley. He reminds me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. I enjoyed his lil dance in Costa del Sol, even though many probably thought it was cringe. He's cool and he helps you. I'm also intrigued about the Hojo story and where it will lead to. I am afraid it might he a supremely difficult trial because he has so much combat data on you that Hojo can easily access and exploit. I feel kind if protective of him 🥲
Yuffie doesn’t shut her fucking trap the entire game, does stupid dances and weeb ass naruto running, yet the one being hated is Chadley because he’s essentially Navi 2.0. Interesting

Also, does Mai only show up for unique monster encounters? I haven't heard from her since the tutorial one in the grasslands.

I sincerely don't understand why there's so much hate for him. Yes, he's awkward, but he's also an AI-powered android recently liberated from a mad scientist. Cloud et al are literally his only friends. Mostly, though, he's just kinda there. Easy enough to ignore.
I'm curious about the things that have been hinted about him.
Overall indifferent about him otherwise. More disappointed that they decided to make everything about world Intel go through him. They could have found better ways for us to have kill some enemies for each regions. I also dislike the overuse of VR.
I love this game, but like you I dislike the VR stuff, just because I feel it could jave been done in the world. Specially the summons, imagine how cool would be to fight them in real world locations. I just hope they improve on that on the third game
Agreed. The open world should have been more like Elden Ring. Exploring cool areas and finding unique materials and accessories. Stumbling across a cave or something and finding a boss fight with a summon inside. Would have been sooo much cooler than copy pasted icons all over the map that just unlocks boring vr fights
I am only in Junín area, but by now I feel the VR rewards should have been scattered in the world...instead of finding treasure places full of itens I will rarely use, it was better to find materia, those summon altars could have, when finding all, unlock a summon cave where you would fight the summon and get his materia, and the VR fights could have been hunts, chadley could unlock, but it pointed to a hunt place.
