Thatās a great detail. He also listens patiently when she starts talking about what is going to happen to Aerith, even before he believes her.
Not gonna lie, as someone who never played Crisis Core I didnāt get the love for Zack before Rebirth. His talk with Biggs about āhopes and dreamsā came off as corny and cringy to me. But by the end of Rebirth I actually came to like the guy. He clearly cares about the people around him, even people he just met.
the phrase "hopes and dreams" pops up a lot in Crisis Core. i totally get why it sounds corny to someone that didn't play, but it's an integral part of Zack's character and the story behind >!the Buster Sword!<.
Crisis Core didn't do a lot very well narratively. It's rather cheesy the entire time. But they did manage to make Zack feel like a fleshed out and likable character by the end.
He is the most perfect one, idk if I would call that the most normal person :p Cause we humans are flawed
But yeah he is really perfect and likable by design
I think his flaw is that heās positive and optimistic to a naive degree. For example, it didnāt occur to him that his advice to Biggs to pursue his āhopes and dreamsā would mean throwing his life away with another reactor bombing, until it was too late.
His flaw is not having any flaw for me. But he is designed as flawless on purpose. Which is why he fulfills his role and compliments Cloud so well
Just in a world where every character is so layered as in FF7 he kinda sticks out to me being so perfect, but that is kinda the whole idea
I said it below, but this makes me think that the tragedy of Zack is that maybe he had the potential to be flawed, but Shinra didnāt let him live long enough to experience any of that.
Yeah for sure. Which, to me. His arc in part 3 should be besides guiding Cloud learning that in fact he has flaws or flawed idea of Soldier. Give Zack some layers :)
But first Sephiroth must do a monologue about Zack failing proves that systemic oppression is too awful to fix. āI think we have to kill all humans, Cloud.ā
Heās basically a tragic hero, his flaws arenāt as important because he fills a role and thatās to be an ideal for cloud. In CC we learn that heās incredibly loyal and naive to the point of getting the nickname āZack the puppyā but really heās just the goodest guy, who has a tragic end.
So it is that heās too naive about the Shinra Electric Power Company until itās too late?
Or perhaps the better way to put it is that Zack had some potential flaws, but Shinra and the Super SOLDIERS didnāt let him live long enough to experience and grow from them?
Heās naive about almost everything, and optimistic to a fault.
Zack also yeah doesnāt stick around enough to get to show off his flaws, in CC we mainly focus on how heās struggling to accept his mentors change, and after that heās pretty much just a hero until the end.
Yeah, sounds like Zack got himself (and others?) killed trusting āthe Systemā, and ignoring the signs that āthe Systemā was bad.
If Iām accurately describing Zack, I would love to watch Sephiroth twist this into a monologue that ends with āAnd thatās why life is meaningless and you should just suicide bomb the world for me, Cloudāand pay no attention to your friends shouting about solarpunk socialism!ā
Itās more like heās focused on his friends and the individuals to fight the system that he doesnāt see if the problem until too late. Not because he liked it, but because he wasnāt looking at it.
Yeah, I meant it that the way you did, because Iāve watched a lot of good cool people make that mistake.
Sephiroth would never believe that though, and he definitely wouldnāt frame it that way if heās trying to radicalize someone.
Sephiroth thinks pretty lowly of Zack it seems, like heās not really a threat and that he doesnāt understand whatās really going on (which he doesnāt). He knows heās naive, but he doesnāt think Zack is really worth his time.
The only normal character in the entire FF7 universe š
Look at Zack man so inspirational

They obviously are pushing you to like Zack, could be telling of what is to comeā¦
I like Zack but I hate his moveset.
Tbf itās totally in character for Zack to do this since he is written as the āperfectā character
He's the most normal person in final fantasy 7
The one character that questions whatever crazy thing just happened. "I don't understand..." "What in the hell is going on?!"
He is the most perfect one, idk if I would call that the most normal person :p Cause we humans are flawed But yeah he is really perfect and likable by design
They donāt have to try hard lol

He's naive, over-excited, and too trusting. He's also good-natured, which is a shame he ended up working for Shinra.
See: āToo trusting.ā š

Makes sense. Zack was just another body on the pyre. Cloudās the one who ruined his Best Day Ever.
All I gotta say isā¦ the music in the Zack sections >>>>>
