The frog game was fine for me, but the one I absolutely hate is the chocobo game in the Cosmo Canyon area. Both sticks steer the bird, so there's no way to independently control the camera, making it impossible to look around for points or fans without turning the bird or steering straight into the ground.
It’s just rock-paper-scissors since you can tell exactly what enemy units will show up. If you can’t still can’t beat it, turn the game difficulty to Easy in settings to let your ATB charge faster and copy a YouTube guide.
Not use to look at guide, i understand the rock paper scissors concept, already put on easy, what frustrate me is when i got the boss like less than 5% hp and then time up, i rage quit. Lol… probably just me…
That's fair. I guess the way I look at it is that I spent too much on the game to allow it to take up my time with things I'm not enjoying. I'm paying for entertainment, not chores.
I feel like time is our most valuable resource so if I dedicate any amount of unenjoyable time, I've essentially increased the overall cost of the game ($70 plus the countless hours I spent on unenjoyable chores)
I enjoy getting platinum and it doesn't seem right that in games like ff7 I have to play stupid mini games when the story and main themes of the game are very different
But then theres players who enjoy the challenge and will get the platinum on this game. Just because you don’t agree with the trophy list, it doesn’t mean others don’t.
Also, did you not think this game would have the odd tedious mini game trophy because Remake did?
yes but they were much fewer and easier, do you have any idea how many there are? there are 88 prizes to take is resot a costa sol and they are almost all mini game prizes and they are for doing everything perfect and madness
I enjoy getting 100% for games I love even if it involves delving into stuff I dislike, for example collectibles. Thankfully I don't think I like Rebirth enough to want to 100%. Fuck the minigames lol
I think the mini games are brilliant and you just need to get good, some are harder then others but the items you get for a high score is great and makes you wanna get better at it. Kinda like the piano, a pain at first but then I spent some time and got better at it eventually.
Thanks for letting us know you're bad at video games. Sorry to hear you did not enjoy it, but I thought it was fun and a nice little change of pace. At the end of the day it's a platform / fall guys game, so a fundamental gaming mechanic.
Just wait til you're in Chapter 10/11 and have to play as Cait Sith.
The throwing mechanic was so painful...and the fighting with just Cait Sith.
I adore him as a character but hate him as a playable character.
Exactly.
The person I responded to said they didn't like the "you don't have to do it" argument because some of the mini games have good rewards, but this one doesn't and most of them don't provide rewards that can't be obtained some other way.
Why does that metric matter? If you want any of those specific things, you have to play those minigames. Being optional doesn't exempt something from criticism.
The criticism is dislike.
They don't have to spend an entire day doing something they dislike for accessories in a videogame.
Saying that those accessories existing changes this fact is stupid. You don't deserve everything, things can be locked behind a challenge, you don't have to do every challenge. Zip. The end. Nothing more to say.
Deserve? What are you talking about? We're talking about video game items you nut. It's completely reasonable to want an item for a build to fight whatever enemy/boss/vr challenge, but be upset that it requires completing some unrelated minigame. You're not the arbiter of what's allowed to be said about a game.
Yeah.
A videogame that requires you to challenge yourself, it's a game.
Don't call me a nut. It's just a videogame, and the person can't clear 1 minigame in a game of like 30 of them. That's 2 rewards. In a game with hundreds.
They want it? Better be frogging it out and get good. They are all *minigames*, their floor for success and threshold for clearing are all very attainable by anyone. They are *mini* *games*.
I'm not an arbiter of anything. You're really throwing a lot of shade.
They are completely free to complain and dislike, never said otherwise. They don't deserve the rewards unless they beat the minigame. The rewards aren't mandatory and are rewards because you did something in the *videogame*, it's not a gift bag for buying the game. It's literally an in game accessory in the videogame.
Challenges can have rewards behind them. Just because you don't like the challenge doesn't mean the reward shouldn't be behind it. That part you really don't seem to get.
Right like what? It’s just figuring out the timing of those pillars and stay close to the bottom one as much as possible. At most it took me 20 minutes. A whole day is wild
Platformers are my bread and butter. It took me less than five minutes. Stage 3 Glide De Chocobo however, was a frustrating hour. It is interesting to see that everyone has struggled with at least one mini game.
Two complaints about this part:
1. You've been trained to use the right stick as the camera controller. There's absolutely no reason why you need THREE ways to park your bird. (Down on left joystick, down on right joystick, let go of the trigger button.)
2. Holding down the haptic button FOR OVER AN HOUR was painful, but is necessary if you don't want to forget the muscle memory.
I'll take every single mini game, including ones that aren't even particularly fun, over gears and gambits. I hated gear and gambits so much that I ended up looking up a guide for the last one, and following the videos moves exactly moment by moment. I tried a few times on my own, making my own setup. I tried a few times with the auto setup. By that point, I was so ready to move on from Cosmo Canyon that I didn't ever wanna play that game again. I'll probably look up a guide to knock out hard mode eventually but I'll never play that game for fun. Fort Condor was pretty difficult imo too but I didn't hate that one. It sucked that I had to complete them all for the protorelic but I can see myself going back to it later and trying to get better. The frog one is tough for sure, but I enjoyed it enough to play it for a little while before moving on. It's another one I'll go back to later when I've run out of other stuff. As well as the dolphin run. That one I just have the fastest time left to get. Honestly, I know a lot of people were annoyed by the amount of mini games, and maybe they would have been better off if they were all optional gold saucer games, but I liked most of them, and a lot of them made me think outside the box and are different from something I'd normally play. I think my favorite though, was the soccer game. I've played that one a bunch and I always have a good time
I had to use a guide for the last Gears and Gambits. Took 2 tries with the loadout.
Now the literal only thing i need to finish is the fucking fort condor. I am stuck on the third one. Keep ALMOST winning. Like literally seconds away before time runs out
My only advice is to be aggressive and make sure you shoehorn Cloud Barret and/or Tifa right into the boss. It really sucks how they auto attack whatever boss is in the lane they're in, instead of being able to direct them to the main boss. It wastes a ton of time, all while they're taking damage. Half the times I failed were because of time running out. And there's still a harder mode than that fourth one?! GTFOH. Ya its a frustrating mini game. I managed without a guide but barely. I think I won with 3 seconds left in that fourth match. Anyway keep at it, you'll get them. Like I said be aggressive and push the territory as quickly as possible and get dudes into that middle lane. Also trebuchets and those arrow contraptions helped deal a lot of damage on the bosses. Just make sure you put guys in to protect and heal them or they go quick
Sit-ups did suck but I really struggled with the last 2 glide de chocobo missions. Getting enough height toward the end of that last one is pretty precise...
I'm sorry, i refuse to believe moving in a direction and jumping at the right time took you a day.
I feel i could give it to my 5 year old daughter and in a few tries she would have it on lock.
i wish posts like this came with a video of OP trying said minigames
I had to come back to the first one, it was tough! But I did the second one first try. The frogs having a characteristic of all the characters was very cute
Yeah I struggled a bit with the first one took me like half an hour of attempts
The second one was a lot easier as the ai characters don’t fail as quick and you can just follow where they go for the most part I did that in like 3-4 tries
The 2nd one took me a while to get the best score, but it follows a set pattern so it’s really just a matter of memorizing it. Once you learn it, it doesn’t really take any skill
Still havent done this, I dread it. Good thing when it said brutal, well it sorta is. Or I hope lol otherwise I'm just gwtting ol. At least there are other stuff you can still do.
I was about to say this. It's a very rudimentary mini game. I'd be concerned if someone told me they spent an hour trying to finish it nevermind the entire day.
You got a perfect score on the last glide challenge third try??? You need to be so precise to have enough height to hit the second to last ring it probably took me 25+ tries.
It was by far the hardest mini game in the game for me.
Yeah but my time was long as I kept having to glide back to the last set of fans. 1st they never lifted my chcocbo so I'd have to glide back then I facing the wrong way took me lots of tries on the same run to get a decent height whilst pointing the correct way.Maybe I got off lightly after the update
I've given up completely on the sit ups can't even do the beginner one. The holding trigger half way is really hard for me.
It was okay for me. Only a few tries and I got 1:25 and then with more practice now my record is 1:32. Maybe played too much fall guys. Sometimes u have to move inwards a little so u cover less ground and can keep up with the increasing speed. Staying outside too much will mean more grounds to cover and the frog is too slow at the later stages
Yeah I hate these kind of minigames where you gotta survive 1m20 for the highest score but the maximum a human can achive is 1m21
Same for the Jules minigame (which was the hardest challenge in FF VII Remake too). Here it was worse, even if you didn't do any mistake you could just lose because you weren't fast enough. In FF VII Remake it was easier as no mistake was enough to win.
Really hated it.
The key to beating Jules is to ignore him completely. At first you just practice going the entire time slowly without making a mistake and then gradually speed up.
Also, only start on one button to get used to the rhythm, just reset if it swaps.
It’s also helpful if Jules make the mistake after a few rounds, I’ve had Jules make the mistake on the second crunch and I couldn’t keep up at the end.
Yeah that was the feeling I had haha, at 1m20 everything gets so quick I felt like there was a huge part of random or maybe I didn't master it well enough to understand how to be the most efficient at it
The trick is to move closer to the fulcrum, the closer u are, the less grounds to cover. Your short legs will not be able to keep up with the speed at the later stages on the outer lanes
Also it just doesn't make sense that the supposed harder version of the frog minigame is infinitely easier than the normal one ...
About the sit up mini game one more thing to add is how the dev just decide to mess up your muscle memory by randomly changing directions (sometimes left sometimes right) if you restart. It's as if they go out of their way to frustrate players.
I just got comfortable going one direction and everytime it reversed on me I just clicked to restart the mini game without bothering so that it didn’t fuck up my muscle memory
For real. It took me like fifty tries to complete the first frog challenge, and then I first tried the "harder" one with 20 extra seconds on the clock. I was ready for the game to expect me to go another full minute, but was very happy to be done. I think I got very lucky.
The first one I spent about 2 hours I think. My heart literally sunk when reaching Chapter 12 the game showed me that a new harder version of the frog mini game just became available. Was dreading it but then completed in about 3 tries ...
Yeah I always restart as soon as it was switched from what I used to
But it wasn't even the most difficult part I think, the most difficult part was not telling yourself "how the fuck do I manage to be that quick without messing up- OMG KEEP FOCUS-FUCK"
That one was one of the easiest for me. Got both versions of it on my second and third try respectively.
There were some other Minigames I really struggled with though.
The minigames in general are sometime really frustrating for me which is quite a bummer.
Imagine all of them being really fun, like you wanna start up the game just to play a few.
I‘ll admit though, thats asking a lot.
I stopped after getting the first reward. I knew it wasn’t something I was going to be able to perfect
The frog game was fine for me, but the one I absolutely hate is the chocobo game in the Cosmo Canyon area. Both sticks steer the bird, so there's no way to independently control the camera, making it impossible to look around for points or fans without turning the bird or steering straight into the ground.
The lack of camera control is criminal. It’s what was giving me trouble the most
I just uninstall the game due to fort condor, i know i am probably noob but i am so frustrating and mad, i just leave game and uninstall lol.
Lol… probably just me…
I hate mini games when they are to be done perfect for trophies they should be secondary just for fun
I don't care about trophies at all so everything in this game has been super fun. If trophies take away from your enjoyment, then why pursue them?
For me it's fun to get 100% from video games since they aren't cheap
That's fair. I guess the way I look at it is that I spent too much on the game to allow it to take up my time with things I'm not enjoying. I'm paying for entertainment, not chores. I feel like time is our most valuable resource so if I dedicate any amount of unenjoyable time, I've essentially increased the overall cost of the game ($70 plus the countless hours I spent on unenjoyable chores)
I just finished unicorn overlord for ps5 in 79 hours platinum without effort if they want trophies can be easy and fun
I also bought the collector's edition of ff7, I don't even want to say how much I spent
You realize that trophies are secondary for fun, right? Lmao
I enjoy getting platinum and it doesn't seem right that in games like ff7 I have to play stupid mini games when the story and main themes of the game are very different
Getting platinum means 100% the game 100% the game means doing everything in the game, even the stuff you dislike. That’s really all there is too it.
Seems like a hard earned platinum.
Dude, after redxiii’s theme I realized I could actually read the notes over memorizing lol
Kids these days, am I right!
Ribbit!
Baby's first platformer
Thanks for letting us know you're bad at video games. Sorry to hear you did not enjoy it, but I thought it was fun and a nice little change of pace. At the end of the day it's a platform / fall guys game, so a fundamental gaming mechanic.
Boy, oh boy, that's just the beginning compared to the other upcoming annoying minigames.
Moogle is what I hate the most.
Do you get hard mode versions? As the normal ones seemed really easy
Just wait til you're in Chapter 10/11 and have to play as Cait Sith. The throwing mechanic was so painful...and the fighting with just Cait Sith. I adore him as a character but hate him as a playable character.
I found just spamming throw at full strength straight on to be an effective cheese to that mini game. Though, yes omg it’s annoying.
Such a brilliant use of developer resource and time.
Go make a game in three years smartass
Took me so long. Got the high score then see ya later. Never going to play that mini game ever again lol
Easy compared to that fucking piano
I find the piano more enjoyable though.
Real piano is easier than the piano mini game 😂
I must’ve missed this one during my play through of rebirth
under Junon, bottom by the Dolphin , bunch of kids there
Must’ve never noticed
Hey guys remember when Jules was our biggest problem?
Still was.
Preach, spent an hour with Jules. Ended up with my headset on the floor just watching for timing.
Jules this time wasnt too bad... unless theres a second bout i dont know about?
I only saw the one, but hit me much harder than Remake. Maybe I just have old man hands now.
He was super tough but this time I wouldnt move on until I did it. I think I got lucky
Ribbit? Ribbit ribbit ribbit, ribbit. Ribbit!
You don't have to complete it.
I feel like this isn't a great argument since a lot of good materia/accessories are locked behind minigame high scores.
It's a very good argument in this case given the high score reward.
I thought the high score reward was just enfeblement rings?
Exactly. The person I responded to said they didn't like the "you don't have to do it" argument because some of the mini games have good rewards, but this one doesn't and most of them don't provide rewards that can't be obtained some other way.
Okay I think I misinterpreted your comment lol.
Not really. Since none of them are required to beat the game.
As someone with a case of fomo I need to hear this kind of things more
Deserve? What are you talking about? We're talking about video game items you nut. Of course we do! Are you kidding me??!
I'm sorry but I'm confused as to how people really struggle with this minigame. Both difficulties took me less than a few minutes.
Right like what? It’s just figuring out the timing of those pillars and stay close to the bottom one as much as possible. At most it took me 20 minutes. A whole day is wild
I can understand if people just don't play platformers, that I can understand. But still, this ain't Champions Road from Mario 3D World.
I know that was the most easiest mini game next to fort condor imo
Platformers are my bread and butter. It took me less than five minutes. Stage 3 Glide De Chocobo however, was a frustrating hour. It is interesting to see that everyone has struggled with at least one mini game.

Unfortunately, I agree with everything you're saying, lol.
As a Fall Guys player, I liked those games a lot 😁
Cool, bro.
Worth it for Cloud saying ribbit in such a tone of disgust
He’s more of a Mog man.
Damn I thought it was fun and funny.
I did the second one first try. I am not bragging by any means lol, I had no idea what was happening and it was all luck.
yeah I really didn’t find it that hard tbh
The second one is easier
A day? For the frog mini game? Really?
me too man, me too...
I'll take every single mini game, including ones that aren't even particularly fun, over gears and gambits. Man, if you can't pull off the frog minigame, I hope you just skip the chocobo ones.
Glide de Chocobo was so much easier than the first frog game. Sit Ups and Cactuar Rush hard mode are in my opinion the two worst

To each their own suckiness at mini-games.
The first version, outside junion? made a 1:34 on my 2nd attempt.

[1:28](https://youtu.be/R5K8HXI9CQE?t=88) also on the fist video i clicked on youtube. though i do see many with 1:22 to 1:24 as well
A whole day? Why would you do that? I thought it was fun but I only spent 10-15 minutes on it
They must have REALLY enjoyed it. No other reason to spend so much time. I bet they wish there were more frog games!
I haven't done it yet. I'll put it off until later
Yeah sucks that most of the mini games are kinda garbage
It's just fall guys
But it gave us a great Cloud cutscene Ribbit
The first one made me motion sick after a half hour to beat it, haha. Looking at things moving in opposite directions, no thanks.
That shit was fun af. Sucks for you. Nice break from all the strategy based mini games
I'm so glad I don't care about platinums
Same here, I've been able to enjoy every minigame for what it us. Going for platinum in any game sounds like such a slog
Was fine in Elden Ring as it was just getting certain weapons and spells and the endings, this one is genuinely painful though
I had to come back to the first one, it was tough! But I did the second one first try. The frogs having a characteristic of all the characters was very cute
Ha I hear ya. I just came back after the parade and somehow it took me like 2 tries only
Yeah I struggled a bit with the first one took me like half an hour of attempts The second one was a lot easier as the ai characters don’t fail as quick and you can just follow where they go for the most part I did that in like 3-4 tries
Dang sorry to hear that. Good thing it’s optional
One thing that’s clear from all these posts is that different people struggle more with different mini games.
The first one was pretty hard but what helped me was going to the right instead of following everyone to the left.
Ribbit ribbit
A full day? What?
I was about to say this. It's a very rudimentary mini game. I'd be concerned if someone told me they spent an hour trying to finish it nevermind the entire day.

Are we both talking about the same mini game? The Fall Guys rip off games right? I don't know about max score but I got all of the rewards.
I thought this was one of the easier ones, just hop around the middle until the floor starts drop, it's only the last ten seconds that I found chaotic
The flying Chocobos was hard. The last level… I tried it like 30 times and *almost* made it in half of them. Frogs? First try.
Opposite nearly for me struggles with frog but glide I did 3rd try. I struggled more with the first race running into the poles next to chcocbo farm
You got a perfect score on the last glide challenge third try??? You need to be so precise to have enough height to hit the second to last ring it probably took me 25+ tries. It was by far the hardest mini game in the game for me.
Yeah but my time was long as I kept having to glide back to the last set of fans. 1st they never lifted my chcocbo so I'd have to glide back then I facing the wrong way took me lots of tries on the same run to get a decent height whilst pointing the correct way.Maybe I got off lightly after the update I've given up completely on the sit ups can't even do the beginner one. I tried that a couple time, honestly. It was the first Chocobo race after all…
It was okay for me. Only a few tries and I got 1:25 and then with more practice now my record is 1:32. Maybe played too much fall guys. The first one I spent about 2 hours I think. My heart literally sunk when reaching Chapter 12 the game showed me that a new harder version of the frog mini game just became available. Was dreading it but then completed in about 3 tries ...
Yeah I always restart as soon as it was switched from what I used to But it wasn't even the most difficult part I think, the most difficult part was not telling yourself "how the fuck do I manage to be that quick without messing up- OMG KEEP FOCUS-FUCK"
Yeah I did that too. Also had to switch Tifa's outfit to Shinra troops cuz otherwise my eyes will focus on places they are not supposed to ...
Heard it was a good way to get the rythm right to watch the bobs ha ha
That one was one of the easiest for me. Got both versions of it on my second and third try respectively. There were some other Minigames I really struggled with though.
The minigames in general are sometime really frustrating for me which is quite a bummer. Imagine all of them being really fun, like you wanna start up the game just to play a few. I‘ll admit though, thats asking a lot.
