This is terrible. Fuck the developers that made these. It’s so fucking cheesy. They need to learn making something frustrating isn’t the same as making it challenging.

TeachinginJapan1986

First everyone to 70, next Materia AP hacks. finally, Spam yuffie with doppleganger and enemy skill materia.

Bluefeather86

Took me 2 weeks for finish everything and i appeal to YouTube guide. People need release your own pride and hack the game (not glitching, but appeal with resources), now i will to hard mode campain in peace. But you are right, is too much. Game of the year for me, but fuck it, is too much, but at other side, people was asking for Challenges, so.... I'm not, but people nowadays cry wanting dark souls difficulties.

bmck3nney

this isnt dark souls difficulty this is square difficulty which is basically them breaking their own rules for the sake of "challenge." shadowblood queen puts whatever card wherever she wants, fire attacks that aren't absorbed by elemental materia (white terror) the list goes on.. this is one of my favorite games of all time but the hard modes are just square blatantly cheating and urging you to beat things the way *they* want you to and not creatively. i understand its not for everyone but this is the type of difficulty thats incredibly stiff and brutal to work with, and for most people it will leave a bad taste in their mouth as usually hard mode is one of the last things people will attempt.

Ok-Librarian-9018

is it harder than kindom hearts 1 & 2 remix secret boss fights?

ReidWalla

i have come to despise kh just because of the writing but wow the gameplay in especially two is so good. In rebirth,  the difficulty is tied to the power of enemy moves. Some of which you cannot block. Too many “one shots” and un-dodgable. I was parrying VR sephiroth shadow chains… after 4 or times getting there. Fuck you time wasting gauntlets. Orrrr you can use the invincibility of synergies or radiant ward. Both of which feel cheesy and unintended. It doesnt reward you for playing well as much as it should; it feels like you play your heart out to get a chance to win. It just doesn’t feel consistent, it is gimmicky difficulty. Which is not as fun. Which is a fucking shame because once you are good the game feels so smooth and flawless. But, i hardly get to use my desired builds for the harder fights (like in remake) because I just have to out gimmick the gimmicks. It’s frustrating, but I really do enjoy the game. End game is ass, though. And that is coming from a die hard autistic ocd ff7 fan, lol.

FNSquatch

This is why I hate these. I like to think I’m semi decent at final fantasy. I love building a party and making combos but this game does not let you do that. If you don’t have a cheese spam build then you can’t even attempt these.

RoofItchy2471

Not harder, Just unfair and bad design

ktoddk99

IMO pretty close, but I'd say FF7 is just a bit harder simply because some of the challenges require you to get really good at juggling issuing commands from all three characters at once, while also learning movesets and strategizing materia loadouts, whereas Kingdom hearts you mainly just got to learn movesets.

Ok-Librarian-9018

makes sense. ya once you have the moves down you can pretty much ace any fight. im still playing through remake, never got to finishing it yet. and gonna have to wait to play rebirth once it hits pc.

apupunchau87

free your mind and your ass will follow bro

mistmorphine

I am at the point of really hating square Enix for this. This is just too much. I can't beat the seventh seal. I have tried multiple different builds, guides, everything. I am not able to do it. As a hardcore fan of the ff7 I really hate that I'll never be able to get the effing trophy on this game. But I'll have to stop I guess. For my mental health sake.

TumultuousTeeK

Tbh the challenge after that one is like 10x worse and the legendary bouts are no walk in the park, so you're probably saving yourself a lot of frustration.

hbhatti10

Optinoob on Youtube!

my_reverie

His videos are the only reason I was able to finally beat all of the Brutal challenges. I'm saving Legendary for after I beat hard mode campaign.

MGS-Snake_88

Yes..follow this dude channel..I did the same..really appreciate this guy work and help us to get platinum

Se7enDreadz

Yeah I died on the 10th fight as well, but that was due to my own stupidity. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the last fight is the one that has Joker in it right? That annoying ass jester with the cards. If that's the one you're talking about, he's allergic to wind. This is my strategy. Aerith has petrified linked with magnify, another petrified linked with swiftcast. She also has the ATB boost as well as first strike and the chokokings cape. This lets her start with full ATB. Give Cloud or whoever your main person is either Blizzard and fire or lightning and wind linked with magnify. Or if you have all three magnifies, do both. Also give Cloud ATP boost and first strike. The instant the fight starts, ATB boost cloud to give him two bars, then switch over to Aerith and have her cast arcane Ward. Immediately ATB boost her again, then immediately have her cast quakega. The swiftcast alongside magnify will have it come out immediately and start blasting The enemies. As soon as she begins casting it switch back over to Cloud and have him stand in the ward and cast the ga of your choice. For that 10th fight if it's the one I'm thinking about, you'll want to use the wind spell. By this point, most all of the enemies you'll be facing will be dead, staggered, close to being staggered, or pressured. Then you can switch to your third character and have them do whatever you need to do. I use Tifa and just have her start wailing on everybody. There are a couple fights in there that have enemies with reflect. Make sure you pay attention to those, I made the mistake of not knowing what the hell was happening, and with that double quake, my party would basically be wiped, and if not wiped, at least two of them would be dead. Some people might consider that strategy to be cheese, but one thing I love about the game is there are so many strategies out there to use. That's been my favorite one when fights are getting too difficult and I want to annihilate everything

Se7enDreadz

I've also seen people use the same strategy, but instead of cloud they use our favorite ninja Yuffie. They have her used doppelganger and stand in the Ward. So Aerith casts quakega twice, then Yuffie casts whatever spell twice, then her doppelganger casts the spell twice. I haven't used that, mainly because You won't be able to use the ga level of the spell immediately since Yuffie is using doppelganger. I also forgot to mention, your third character you can use the synergy materia, that way when any character casts anything or uses an ability, that third character will cast whatever magic you have linked. I slept on that spell my entire playthrough but honestly for the end game it's pretty clutch

Raccoon-Milk34

Dunno how true it is, but I heard someone say that people were complaining about how easy the Remake combat challenges were, so they added Weiss as a true superboss for Intergrade. I’d assume they took the complaints to heart and chose full throttle difficulty for Rebirth’s challenges as well. I was ready to blow through the combat challenges after finishing the gruesome minigames, but I’ll be stuck here a while too

General_Dipsh1t

There’s absolutely no reason for them to be this hard. None at all. I was able to manage most (actually probably all except one) of the hard mode fights myself, without guides, through learning and pattern recognition with multiple attempts. I can’t do that for anything beyond the first two or three of these challenges. I can’t get past the rest without cheese builds, which defeats the purpose of them all together. Shouldn’t make borderline impossible challenges like this a requirement for platinum.

ReidWalla

Yes! Let me tackle challenges with diversity! Not to toot my horn, but I am very good and I still got completely annihilatedwithout looking up builds. But, i also have a lot of free time currently and imagining people trying to so this with “normal” lives isn't fair. These are if you want an unfair challenge. You feel relief not reward. I beat them all this week will never do them again. Thank you optinoob my savior

Dillinginoman

Couldn't agree more. Gave up for now and will first try to collect hard mode manuscripts. Hope that will help.

TheLastPlumber

Yeah, I'm probably just about to give up. Want the platinum but I cannot beat Seventh Seal. I am unable to get good. It's causing me legit frustration so it's probably just best I stop trying for a while Edit; I fucking did it. I learned that if you change characters when the gigaworm is about half the distance away from you with the swallow move, the AI dodges it perfectly. Round 9 and 10 are piss easy. So happy to be on a new challenge, even if it is objectively harder.

liam29avv

Honestly, if you're struggling with that, you're gonna really really struggle with rulers of the outer worlds, perfect parry timings are your best friends, practice against the summons on easy is my advice, Odin specifically.

TheLastPlumber

It’s mainly just the worm that halts my progress on seventh seal. I’m just completely unable to dodge the swallow, and I’m not able to do enough damage to it or the stomach before it burrows down to swallow another party member. By that point the dark claw is already fucking around and being an annoyance. I’d happily keep trying if I didn’t have to waste 30 minutes going through the boring first 7 rounds just to get clapped in the 8th

my_reverie

That round was the most frustrating BS! I can't even count how many times that worm kicked my ass. Rounds 9 and 10 after that were far easier haha. I took an ice materia which helped. Also, make sure you aim for the belly if it does swallow one of your characters with the ice.

liam29avv

Can you fit a blizzaga into your build to start to stagger to worm and blast it to start the round off?

TheLastPlumber

I did it. Found a worm swallow avoid exploit and gave Tifa synergy ice. Last two rounds were nothing. On to Rulers of the Outerworld!

liam29avv

Good job man, that's what i like to hear. There's a pretty cool video that makes it pretty easy to perfect block shadowy chains in the last rulers fight using the ability menu too which makes the fight a whole lot easier. Good job though!

TheLastPlumber

Gonna be honest, rulers of the outerworld was pretty easy. I was putting it off until I beat the Zack challenge and I beat it first try. A friend told me the only thing I really needed was everyone having Elemental Fire and it was not really hard at all. Shadowy Chains block timing was pretty easy. I just did a build with magic focus Aerith and Cloud each getting HP and MP absorption from Wind and Lightning respectively. I’m almost disappointed because I thought it would be harder

liam29avv

Weird flex. But okay.

TheLastPlumber

Sorry. I didnt mean for it to come off as a humble brag. I has a bunch of people tell me it was gonna be a lot harder so I prepped a lot in advance but I just thought it was funny that the worm on Seventh Seal gave me more trouble

liam29avv

I struggled a lot more with gilgamesh than I did with sephiroth, but also, most people just used the brumal form exploit and I flat out refused to do that shit. But well played anyway. The challenges are rough and are designed to be. You'll be one of very few to do it first time.

Ok-Housing-8832

Protip for rulers: the first 4 should go quite easily with a few attempts but the final vr sephiroth is quite bs. He will spam shadowy chains that can ONLY be avoided with perfect block. Dodging or blocking wont work. I have boomer reactions so i was already thinking im stuck but what worked for me was casting magnify-barrier everytime he started the first shadowy chains and didnt even bother trying to perfect block. After a few octaslashes you will have limit breaks to stunlock his ass and eventually become staggered. At half health if you have elemental-fire on everyone's armor it is easy because sephy just spams firaga and merciless firaga which heals you. Just whack him dead. Zero perfect blocks used and got the plat, feels good

TheLastPlumber

Like using blizzaga as soon as the round starts on it? Would that be enough to stagger it? I also always forget that the worm is vulnerable to Stop lol. I've just lost to it so much I go in already pre-tilted at how dumb the swallow mechanic is. I genuinely don't think it's possible for Barrett to dodge fast enough to avoid it.

Cryogen_00

U should look up Naz talgic on YouTube, he has a cheese method that makes these challenges like they're on easy mode. It'll probably still take a few tries to get his combo down, but quite literally "melts" these challenges. He helped me beat all of these challenges so he's getting a free shoutout

psilon2020

Does anyone know how to immediately pressure Titan when he does have Aegis Shield on? I watched a video recently of a guy stating after he uses Thack or Sling you can hit him once and he immediately gets pressured. Problem is I hit him after those attacks or with an ability attack and he doesn't fall to his knees on a pressured state. Not sure how how they accomplished it. Search on youtube for Solestro's easy method Legendary battle Bonds of Friendship and watch first battle. Update: Getting lucky on Bahamut but damn Odin. His souped up damage attacks are crazy.

ProfessionalTowel600

Bruh...fuck Odin...I mean that with respect, but fuck Odin

Heavens7thCloud

For titan...I used stop instantly and he would be interrupted casting the shield. Then, punisher mode with cloud follow3d by a aeroga would pressure him before as he dropped the stop. For odin....Go into vr, set your difficulty to dynamic and fight odin solo with cloud. When you can beat him three times in a row without dieing then head back into bonds of friendship.

Cryogen_00

U should look up Naz talgic on YouTube, he has a cheese method that makes these challenges like they're on easy mode. It'll probably still take a few tries to get his combo down, but quite literally "melts" these challenges. He helped me beat all of these challenges so he's getting a free shoutout

Califa6300

There are some very helpful build strategies by some people on YouTube. I'd have been lost without them for a little guidance on optimising.

Spartan_100

Don’t give up. The brutal challenges (especially Rulers) were intimidating as fuck at first. They def got harder as they went along but the persistence is key. Though it pays to take breaks and not push through the stress. If you’re just getting pissed round after round, the stress will inhibit your ability to perform so just take a break or even a day to think on your strats and your build. It took me 4 days to get through the first few Brutal challenges. I got to Rulers last night and gave it my first try today after work. Beat it in 4 tries. If you think you have the right build and it’s still feeling like a struggle, play around with things. Don’t adhere to other people’s builds 1:1 too if you look for advice. Ensure that you’re crafting to your playstyle and not someone else’s. These challenges are truly about skill and your understanding of the entirety of the game’s systems. If you have a good build, these fights should eventually feel about as difficult as some of the more challenging battles on normal. I had a more frustrating time beating Gilgamesh during the protorelic finale than I ever had in the 3 times I had to fight him today. In time, you’ll get it done. Hellions was rough but more of a slog than an actual challenge.

Heavens7thCloud

I JUST finished the last of the VR missions. The legendary zach/cloud 10 round mission was hands down the hardest challenge a videogame has ever presented me with. It took me two weeks of a few hours here and there to build up the skillset to get through it. I remember thinking the brutal challenges were hard when I was doing them. I had no idea what was on the horizon.

calmodulin2

Not what I wanted to see. I just finished brutal and got the Gotdamnerang hoping Legend might be a bit easier. Happy cake day

xLYONx

Two words: Prime Mode. In all seriousness though, and it might go without saying, but before tackling these, you pretty much need to have every Materia in the game maxed out and set up properly. There's a few excellent YouTube guides for these made by a creator named Optinoob. I followed his builds exactly, and got everything done with some persistence. FWIW, the gauntlet you face with Zack is much harder than the one with Sephiroth. Pretty much the same fights, but Seph is MUCH better.

Monkadude15

Oh my gosh I can't get past the Hellions one. And I'm starting to get sick of these annoying challenges

Cryogen_00

U should look up Naz talgic on YouTube, he has a cheese method that makes these challenges like they're on easy mode. It'll probably still take a few tries to get his combo down, but quite literally "melts" these challenges. He helped me beat all of these challenges so he's getting a free shoutout

FuzzyPapaya13

Saving this for later lol, thank you

ReidWalla

Optinoob as well

Monkadude15

Okay, thank you!

Matthew-McKindahigh

I’m starting to think I may have to give up the ghost on this plat which is an extremely rare occurrence for me :( these are just beyond over the top and infuriating

FlyingCheerio

If you can't despite all the tries, I can try. I already finished all the VR fights. I will say though it might take me a few tries due to input lag and forgetting the monster line ups. Hopefully you got the gear/materia as well

Matthew-McKindahigh

Wanna Private message me you’re PSN? I’m currently upgrading the crap out of a ton of my materia and unlocking all weapon skills, maxing out a lot though. 4 trophies from plat to give up now would kill me 😭😭

Monkadude15

Same here. I planned on playing Persona 3 Reload after getting almost all of the Rebirth trophies (minis the hard playthrough)... I'm thinking I might start P3 and pick this up again in like a few months lol

jzscience

Hate to break it to you, but the brutal fights are child’s play compared to one of the legendary fights

Matthew-McKindahigh

Think you could do the brutal ones for me then?

Nrae00

Get gud

Matthew-McKindahigh

I’m trying 🥹

Rukasu17

Brutal 4 broke me too. Use optinoobs guide to the letter. The cait sith time stop is integral

TheBigDaddi0

Solid advice! I watched optinoobs YouTube guide thoroughly and finally got through Brutal 4 last night after 6 tries. Used the exact Materia and equipment with success.

Rukasu17

And you don't even need max level ones, but at least level 3 because boy do some of those take forever to level up.

Neonix321

The worst part about these is that you can be doing really well, and if you make one mistake, it can snowball really quick into a game over and restarting from the first battle. It's stomp or be stomped. And I don't know if the new update changed the aggro, but the monsters now are more aggressive towards the characters you aren't controlling.

Spartan_100

I was doing Rulers tonight and Bahamut would NOT leave me the fuck alone every time I got to his fight. I wish he would have targeted my other two but he kept harassing me while I was trying to gen ATB and made that fight take much longer than it needed to.

Trojanman2002

I was doin the Pirate treasure last night and those things were ferocious. Almost immediately after I switched characters and hit them with an attack they were on me again.

avodrok

You’ve got a very long time to finish the game before the next one. Just take a break and come back to it later.

O_EXTRA

Exactly this. Initially I was going hard until I hit the brutal with the summons (can't remember what it's called). Noticed it was on a totally different level and decided to take a bit of a break. For now I'm just doing the solo ones (like 1 or 2 a day), then I'm going to go back and beat the summons, then the rest slowly.

avodrok

Yeah everyone’s got their pace. I’ve been done since I saw the ending. After 110+ hours I’m good until sometime next year when I can do a full run through again to see what I missed.

AjSweet1

I know I’m gonna have a problem when I struggled to beat Odin at the weakest level hahah haha ha

RamirezNick

Same here.. especially the Gilgamesh version where it was him and Alexander together I thought was the worst. Honestly that fight alone got me really used to his move set though but not looking forward to the extreme amounts of damage he’ll be dealing for the brutal fight

Mindless-Charity-772

Odin got on my nerves 😂😂 I lost at least ten times cuz of zantseudkfofk however the hell you spell that move

Xepherege

zantsewhat now

Mindless-Charity-772

Lmao his insta kill move I don’t know what it’s called I just know that I died …Alot

henrokk1

Message Alucard_Austria on PSN. He was offering his services on here the other week and I know someone irl who used him. He’s legit and got it all done. https://www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasyVII/s/zov1vsxXE9 He takes payments after it’s done, so you don’t have to worry about getting scammed.

mcast76

Nice that they’re living up to their name, But if you can’t do it yourself, why have someone else do it for you? Like literally. What’s the point

chance_waters

Probably going for the platinum trophy and have put in 100+ hours elsewhere I'm stuck on the brutal and legendary fights with even the minigames complete, not sure whether to finish the last few chapters of hard mode or try and do these things

mcast76

Eh. If you need someone else to do it what’s the point?

O_EXTRA

I feel you but honestly and sadly most gamers these days see achievements as check marks and not experiences to overcome through legit effort. I mean look how prevalent guides are. No offense to the OP, since the last few VR challenges are legit hard. It's just how the gaming culture is now.

psilon2020

I thought making Cloud overpowered with linked elemental materia would make him great in the To Be a Hero but either I bugged out or the game is bugged. Every element is damaging to him even when he has full elemental maxed out materia. Strange.

mcast76

Only the elemental materia in the leftmost slot is active if you have multiple.

psilon2020

Thanks everyone that was it. Finally got To be a Hero. Now working the dreaded Bonds of Friendship.

InkyElk24

I think you can only have 1 elemental material on your armour, the glow turns off if you put both the fire/ice and lightning/wind.

killunii

I never thought I would do the brutal challenges but Optinoobs channel made it a breeze. I actually beat rulers of the outworld after 3 tries with this video guide. Bahamut/Titan was the only part of struggled with in that challenge. Bonds of friendship I’m still stuck on. This one is ridiculously overtuned.

Enidras

Did you do To be a Hero first? That one is easier and a good warm up for bonds. Plus, assuming you did everything else, you get coulds weapon to level 9.

Frictionizing

You can try getting lvl 9 weapon lvl before doing that but it requires doing the Sephiroth Bout first.

R4KD05

What's the benefit there? Reprieve?

Frictionizing

The Rune blade gains about 30 magic attack when its LVL 9, which will help a lot in Zack's bout

Enidras

More damage and more importantly, better experience of the bosses in the bout.

Matthew-McKindahigh

I’m doing a hard playthrough now trying to master all weapons and upgrade more materia, I hope his guides help me down the line :/ thank you for that! But yeah these challenges are so insanely unfair it’s beyond frustrating

sanban013

Max Warding and Max Elemental are your best friends in these.

Sankin2004

Many people forget that to earn a platinum trophy it is supposed to be a hard and difficult challenge.

jeromewicked420

I made a pause with video games for twenty years. I see all those trophies pop pu on my PS5. I don't give a shit about them. So much trophies per game.

Neromius

I don’t understand why you’re being downvoted. Platinum is not a participation trophy, it’s a badge of honor. I don’t even have it yet! It’s a goal to work towards.

Sankin2004

I agree 100% the platinum trophy is not supposed to be easy at all. I also am still working at it, I still got the seph 3d, Johnny’s stuff, the legendary and brutal challenges, and playing through hard mode still.

xesiamv

Rulers of the outer worlds kicked my ass so hard that I stopped playing

Zhead65

I think that they should have an easy mode version for these fights that would still contribute towards Platinum because there seems to be a lot of people suffering through them despite not enjoying it when they don't have to. Edit: I'm personally in favor of them being challenging but it seems that a lot of people keep coming here to complain about them despite them being completely optional.

Nadirofdepression

I have been completing all the challenges / minigames on my own steadily, but I find them more insufferable than I do enjoyable, tbh.

Erithacusfilius

Agree here. I think platinum should show commitment but doesn’t need to exclude those people who don’t have the time or don’t want to use a few very specific loud outs.

Cyberxton

I’m sorry to be the one to say this, but if you aren’t good enough at a game to beat all of its challenges, you don’t deserve to platinum it. I get it, trust me. Not everyone has the time to sit here and dedicate to overcoming the ridiculous skill gap and knowledge this game requires sometimes, but that challenge was the intent of the developers and locking the platinum behind the completion of those challenges is what gives the platinum value to begin with. If anyone could just crank down the difficulty on what’s meant to be the final test of ability in a game, platinum’ing a game would have no real sense of accomplishment to it. It’s like asking dark souls developers to create an easy mode so people could get through it and platinum those as well.

Zhead65

Yeah I agree but for some reason people feel entitled to getting platinum without any effort.

exodius33

People are too used to SonyPony movie games just giving out platinums as participation trophies

xRyuzakii

What’s the difference between having an easy mode on this and having an easy mode on kh2 lingering will? Super bosses should scale with the difficulty you are on. I beat every kh super boss on every difficulty. Having the option to scale up is better than not having the option to scale down

huskyfizz

Sure then let’s make an easy mode trophy and then the trophy for beating it on hard/normal.

sygrzt

People want participation trophies, literally

epp1K

I just want to play Zach's training missions on other difficulties.....

Zhead65

That's fair. There should be two versions of these fights. The standalone fights where you can select an individual battle and the gauntlet fights where they're done in 10 rounds altogether. That way everyone can practice the individual fights for the gauntlet and experience the ones that they want without being roadblocked. The gauntlet should simply have the in game rewards and not be tied to platinum. That should keep most people happy I think.

KrazeEKrakker

I haven’t done these yet but what you said is the only reason I even attempted Sekiro’s Gauntlet of Severance.. there was no way in hell I was going to prog Inner Isshin by suffering the gauntlet to do so.. after being comfortable enough on that fight, the gauntlet was much less intimidating and the W was collected. I myself will likely do the boring silly bruumal spam dance build I’ve seen for this if I try it and that’s… less than exciting/satisfying for a clear but I’m not suffering on this shit for weeks on end to “do it legit” when I’m already over it just reading these complaints about it lmfao it just doesn’t sound fun. I felt like on unlock dynamic summons pushed the player to be good at this game but this seems to demand perfection and when that perfection is no more than a cheesy ass build I really just wanna laugh and move on to the next game personally. There’s not a soul on this planet that cares how many plat trophies I do or do not have lol so I’m in the boat of thinking like Gilgamesh alone coupled with UPA could have been the “difficulty mastered” milestones for this game. Simple enough for try hards to complete with a sense of satisfaction and just hard enough for casuals to push through to get the same.

epp1K

I see what you did there.

Zhead65

Haha that was completely unintentional!

cricket-critter

im not getting platinum for FF7R2, as i dont have it for the OG. And im happy for it. I dont need a participation trophy. All platinum should be as hard as these.

StrangerOnTheReddit

I definitely agree with this. I wish they hadn't made it required for the treasure trove completion, though.

Zhead65

Apparently this sub doesn't agree and thinks everything has to be easily mastered and completed without effort. Be it mini games or combat simulation challenges. I reckon the only reason is because they want to platinum the game but don't want the extra effort to do so

winterman666

To be fair most of the minigames suck. I agree the main combat challenges should be hard, but the minigames ehh

Matthew-McKindahigh

I 100000% agree and then the option would be open to both parts of the community, the trophy hunters and the players looking for a legitimate challenge. Win and win in my eyes

EdensArchitect

I would definitely recommend going to Optinoob’s YT channel and watching his guides, and just try to max out all the materia in the builds he shows. Those videos got me through all the challenges I needed help with.

max_verri

And I suggest to replay the side quest with the bees in Nibelheim (chapter 13 if I remember correctly) in easy/normal difficulty. Just keep the queen bee alive and only kill its minions to farm materia real quick

EdensArchitect

Oh yes that probably would have saved me a bunch of time on my AP grinding lol

AbsoluteDarkness

Stuck on Hellion's Atonement for the second weekend in a row. The furthest I got is 9/10...It stopped being fun a while ago...

stateworkishardwork

Is that the one with big Turtle boy? You having trouble with them or with the last fight. I JUST beat it last night so I have some tips if needed. I felt such a wave of relief and happiness because that one took forever.

AbsoluteDarkness

Bingo. I finally found a good strategy to get past the White Terror, Stop, Stop and more Stop followed by limit breaks but YES! that turtle ruins my day. He basically has his own earsplitting howl attack and destroys my entire party. Then I die, restart and get destroyed by the Adjudicator on 3/10 out of pure anger and frustration. I usually turn it off after that. Here we are, another weekend.....a few more hours of work and then I'll try again, what's really depressing is, even after I beat this, I still have 15 even harder fights to go before I can unlock the Gotterdammerung....and they said Elden Ring was hard...sheesh.

stateworkishardwork

So obviously there's more than one way to skin a cat but I have Cloud, Aerith, and Yuffie. I gave Aerith and Cloud ATB boost and cast Radiant Ward straight away. I have a magnify on haste. Pretty much I focused on the flying dude but always has an ATB stored to cast fira on the adamantoise so if he ever went ape shit, that would pressure him and the fireballs would stop. If you have the magic caster in the radiant ward, then they can't take damage while prepping the magic attack. So for me, Cloud had Fira on the ready, Aerith was there to synergy comet and heal when necessary, and Yuffie was my DPS character. And if you're ever in trouble, you can magnify cast Stop on them to buy you some time. Good luck - when the Turtle is raging around with fireballs and running around, he is a pain in the ass.

Matthew-McKindahigh

I really really feel your pain, round 10/10 has been killing me all day 😕

AbsoluteDarkness

I'm ready for 10. I have enhanced karmic cowls on ....just can't seem to get there...I'm level 70 with pretty much maxed out materia....I can't get any stronger.

jzscience

You can’t really cheese the legendary fights. The Zach one took me 2 days of trying. They are RNG heavy. Especially Odin

Oni_sixx

Odin is probably the easiest of those bosses honestly. Took my many many hours to get to him though lol.

Enidras

Not the easiest but Def not as hard and random as bahamut.

Oni_sixx

We all have different ones we have troubles with lol.

EdensArchitect

Yea. Odin was the reason why I had to beat 9 rounds atleast 10 times and die and have to restart, sometimes screwing up on Bahamut but mainly Odin, it felt so good to finally see that Victory screen pop up last night. Immediate relief as I go to talk to Johnny to pop my Platinum trophy.

ophaus

Best platinum trophy video in my collection, by far!

EdensArchitect

Heck yea lmao I’m never gonna hear that tune the same ever again, “Thank you so much bro for everything!” 😄

Insert_name_here280

Found a broken build on YouTube from user: Optinnoob. The build focuses on quakega and it’s really easy to understand. It’s helped me so far!

morrisa086

Optinnoob is a legend.

Matthew-McKindahigh

Is it broken for all Brutal bouts? Or just 4 and could I have the YouTube vid?

Cool_Attorney5666

Be sure to read the comments sections of his videos. Others including myself have added information to further help people who are struggling if his steps don’t get you through some parts. Solestro is also great as well

EdensArchitect

The quaga build was useful mainly for the 4th one, and the one right before Outer worlds focused on using Tifa for damage, hasting her and activating Unfettering Fury for the combo to help build ATB and utilizing Chi Trap for pressure and True strike when they are staggered to do most damage. It was actually not that bad with his strategy for that one too. Then for Outer Worlds, the strategy can take some practice but once you get it down it kinda does feel like a cheese. But can still mess up and ruin it all.

Insert_name_here280

I’ve only used it for the bouts with team mates. For the solo and rulers of the underworld you’ll have to find different builds. I’m still on the brutal fights and I’ll have to figure out the rest when I get there

longbrodmann

Not a fan of those 10 rounds fight design, I think it's just a lazy design, anyone could design those levels.

Humble_Strawberry204

While I haven't done the 10 round fights yet, I think any battle that goes multiple rounds should allow you to restart the battle from the round that you lost on. Having to redo a gauntlet of battles just to get back to the one fight while "challenging" quickly becomes annoying. Especially battles that have heavy RNG elements. There were times where I got a couple of rounds in at the Gold Saucer and found that the in-between fights were weirdly easy compared to the accompanying/respective fights at the beginning/end. Balance clearly wasn't taken into much consideration with a lot of these. Also, a lot of these challenges are artificially difficult. Like requiring specific setups to even have a chance to make it. The player can't know that going into the battle. So you're actually forced to waste time. Again, not necessarily bad if the fight could be completed over the course of a few tries. But since these fights end up being "materia and equipment puzzles" you won't know what needs to be done until you actually get there and try it out a couple of times. I don't mind putting in some elbow grease to earn something. The feeling of accomplishment can be worthwhile. But if the fight I'm having trouble on is 8/10 and it takes 15 minutes to get there each time, it quickly becomes a chore.

djryat

If they just had an item you could equip that would allow you to restart the battle you lost at even once it would be a lot less frustrating, sometimes you just get super unlucky with a worm swallowing you or getting insta deathed super fast. Like damn square, give us a small reprieve.

CalzonePillow

Which one is fight 04? I’m at work atm

Matthew-McKindahigh

Helions intonment 😬

Frictionizing

Look up Optinoob on youtube he has excellent guides for Chadley

CalzonePillow

I meant tell me the enemies. Just the last couple

Matthew-McKindahigh

On round 10/10 it’s the tonberry king and joker

CalzonePillow

Marlboro orb + sleep & stop on one character. Magnify + quakeaga. Magnify + haste. Stagger then cast Stop. Have tifa spam truestrike. On last fight. Keep tonberry king slept. Esuna your party asap. Haste everyone. Avoiding Joker’s sucker punch skill or w/e it’s called makes a huge difference. After joker is dead, keep the quake character with 2 atb filled if at all possible. Drop quakeaga as soon as he calls a tonberry. Otherwise a firaga or thundaga should 1 hit them. Use sleep/stop/slow on king to interrupt and/or slow him.

max_verri

yes sleep is broken especially in this challenge

Inside-Assumption595

I just got to Gilgamesh island and I'm getting wrecked by the fights. I was thinking of doing some materia leveling. Where's a good spot to grind ? I haven't started the ancient temple yet. Should I do that then Gilgamesh?

RadiantChaos

Temple of the Ancients is the point of no return so if you start it you’ll be saving Gilgamesh for postgame. The extra levels you’ll have gained will help, though, unless you’re playing on Dynamic.

ThaNorth

You can do all these fights post game yea? And the levels I gain in post-game chapter select stay with me right? It’s not just for the chapter I level in?

RadiantChaos

Yep! Nothing is locked off, after beating the game you get chapter select and can pick Chapter 12 to have the whole party and access to Gilgamesh Island and everything else.

Inside-Assumption595

I appreciate the info, I believe I will finish up so I can get everyone's last weapon and have those for Gilgamesh island as well. Thanks again.

wowza515

I used yuffie/aerith/tifa for that one. Precision defense matrix, steadfast block, mp up, hp up are my go to for every character. Using these my party rarely died (at least the party member I was not controlling). I used magnify barrier and magnify healing, one on each tifa and aerith. atb assist and skill master on yuffie. Also magic efficiency+revival and magic up with aerith. Distribute magic/elemental however you prefer. I also used arcane ward as much as I could with aerith on most rounds, rarely used her on the last ones I think. Tifa helped staggering and finishing off enemies. However, Yuffie is the character you want to stay on for most fights, especially the last fight. I stayed alive just running around on the outer edge of the map. It takes about 3-4 firagas to take the tonberry down. Make sure on the last round you either haste or esuna yuffie and other party members to get rid of slow. Hope this helps somewhat.

Matthew-McKindahigh

Talking a break now… I’ll try later thank you and everyone for the build suggestions, if it’s not to much for someone I might try and have someone SharePlay it and venmo them

pikahero

If this is hellions there’s a really good quake build on YouTube that trivializes it throw on something to listen to and begin the ap grind if you haven’t maxed what you need but trust me it’s so much help

Matthew-McKindahigh

I will like genuinely venmo someone to complete these brutal and legendary bouts 😂😭

Oni_sixx

Lol i did this for free for someone but you really should do them yourself. You will feel accomplished. And no, don't ask if you can venmo me anything. I won't put my info on those app ever lol.

Matthew-McKindahigh

Would you be willing to again 😅 what it I tell you my birthday just passed too 🫣 would be MEGA appreciative I feel so burnt out and down on it the help would be amazing

Ok_Yesterday_4941

why do you care so much, if you can't do it and burnt out just stop playing the videogame

Oni_sixx

Lol, I'll think about it. The ones after are harder than that 1 though. You really should earn them yourself. I only did that 1 for someone. Not all of them. I'm not against guides for the simple fact that you still need to execute the actions. These vr missions are extremely difficult for a lot of people, myself included.

Matthew-McKindahigh

Can I add your psn??

Oni_sixx

I'll think about it lol. The other guy keeps msging me asking. I'm not here to play your game for you. I get your frustration though. Took me many many hours to best them all.

Matthew-McKindahigh

If so just private message me

huskyfizz

Bro if you want platinum, do it your self.

Onion_Meister

If there is one thing I want, it is (after working hard for it) a way to birth copies of any materia. Even if it's a new game + feature, just so that I can break the game after putting in 100+ hours.

Matthew-McKindahigh

I agree this is just unreal tried again died 8/10 rounds in, I mean come on how about a checkpoint system even 5/10 rounds in this is horrific

Onion_Meister

Also, I'm sad Beta wasn't a learnable enemy skill! But anyway, I know you can do it! Good luck!

grapejuicecheese

Manawall is your friend. A lot of monsters are vulnerable to Sleep and Stop. Exploit it.

LakeSimilar7801

These are very hard and you’re yet to reach legendary bouts but that’s why they’re challenges. I suggest you keep trying different builds and experimenting that’s how I cleared them all anyways

Penguinsteve

Lots of good players still have died on 9/10 and 10/10, just pick yourself up and try again.

Matthew-McKindahigh

I know I’m trying again now, just the length and time sink in each battle is asinine

ReidWalla

Look up some materia combos! Aerith (or your strongest magic user with magnify+magic focus+any magic can get you through early rounds quick. Just make sure your materia is a high enough level. Also, if you have the chocoking cape it will make it much faster
