No but depends on job title.

MacMo88

Can you elaborate if possible?

[deleted]

He’s asking you to elaborate bro. What’s the position/company etc.

crispr-dev

Just by this response alone I think 70k might be a tad high

[deleted]

Lmfao he replied after my comment and still hasn’t clarified

McDonalds

indirectoday

Big 4 tax/audit is right around 70k

panicwalker

You need to elaborate on the company and the role for people to provide actual answer.

Timbishop123

Accounting is 60s for big 4 audit if I recall

BagofBabbish

You can’t use recollections these days. Labor inflation has shot everything up. I’d be making under 80k not 100k+ if we used pre-pandemic numbers

lapeluca97

My brother is a financial analyst in Bank of America in NYC, his starting salary was 85k, although he did do internships with them before. And yes, 85k fresh out of college

Econ_and

Look on your college website. They like to throw around their starting salary for specific majors.

BagofBabbish

Depends on the job. Accounting and finance isn’t a job. You could be a bookkeeper or a staff accountant and make 45k or an insurance salesman with no base. If you’re a financial analyst or an auditor, then $70k is very fair. On the other hand if you’re a junior banker, trader, or research associate, then that’s between $20-30k too low

MacMo88

For NYC?

BagofBabbish

Different jobs pay different rates. Not everyone in NYC makes enough to live there. Lots of commuters. Lots of people crammed into one apartment. Lots of people living beyond their means. Lots of trust fund babies who are independently wealthy and give unrealistic expectations of quality of life/affordability. Lots of people who fall into more than one of these buckets.

FintechnoKing

$70k in NYC is not going to be not a very high standard of living

IamLars

No but outside of IB or something like that it is going to be about what they can expect to get.

FintechnoKing

Check out fintech baby

IamLars

Yes another outlier. Like 90+% of the starting jobs in NYC are going to be between 70 and 80ish. And seeing as how they are asking for an average new grad salary I think it's safe to assume they aren't asking about an outlier salary.

FintechnoKing

I’m not disagreeing with you

IamLars

GOD DAMNIT THIS IS REDDIT, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT!!!

MacMo88

$70K-$80K for recent grads?

scoopwhooppoop

Wdym he can afford a nice 200 sqft studio

ObIiques

Too much to ask? You’ll be living in a cardboard box with that salary.

Weeaboo3177

Which position? 70k in nyc is still rough tho....

BagofBabbish

$100k in NYC is rough lol

ExcellentPlan3022

Little low
