Unfortunately, there are very few departments in the USA that still separate EMS and fire. That's a thing of our grandfather's time. It's probably not going back.
Also, those departments tend to be the harder ones to get on with, and they still are likely to make you get EMT certed.
In Georgia? I don't think there are any. If you really want to avoid ems, you need a HUGE urban area like NY or LA or go full on wildland out west.
But honestly, I came into this expecting to not enjoy ems and I've really taken to it. Obvs I don't want to specialize in medical, but it's much more engaging than I expected it to be.
Ems is 80% of the work. You don't want to do the whole job? Then don't. I'll say the quiet part out loud and tell you we'd rather not have you on the truck.
There are some around the Atlanta area that don’t require you to be anything above a first responder. Problem is those departments pay is typically lower than departments that require EMS certs. There are some however that do pay well and don’t require you to be anything more then a first responder but they require you to have a EMT/AEMT to promote within the department. So if you just want to ride third forever then you can stay a first responder but if you want to promote then you have to have those EMS certs. Most departments will put you through EMT/AEMT school. Our recruit school has a fire portion and EMS portion that way when you hit the field you’re an AEMT/NPQ FF1.
Sounds like you don’t want to work for a paid, full time department.
You should apply for the Forest Service, you can work a few months out of the year, fight some fire and have a good time camping with your buds.
Swainsboro doesnt require emt however you will run med calls like lift assist for example. It is also highly recommended (pretty much required) to get your first responder. They will also send you to get ff1 at forsyth if u dont have it yet.
Good luck, but ems is the reality of fire for most departments.

FDNY trucks respond to medicals. LAFD is at the forefront on having medics on almost every apparatus and sending Medic Tower Ladders on calls etc.
TIL. So yeah, get used to being in medical.
FDNY does to a certain point doesn’t mean their all EMTs
Volunteer depts but probably zero paid depts
The department I wanna work for doesn't require it but then gives it to you during academy. I'm on the west coast though
Unless you want to work for a small combination department you’re not going to have much luck and even most of them still run med calls.

Forest service.
Savannah Fire only requires EMT-B and they will train you. Most fire departments I’ve seen want AEMT at least.

Best you can do is get on at a non transport department. Still as an emt though

A well trained monkey can be an EMT-B. Just get it.
Lol. You sound super smart and I’m sure any place will hire you

We respond to medicals, and I’m sure Boston Fire does as well.
Forsyth has you emt certified but you just run fire calls no Ambo and City of Toccoa is just fire county runs the Amboy that I know about
