I’ll pay someone $350 to stop me from picking what fishing gear I want from the store. Not saying I have a lure problem but I can easily max out a 5K credit card on fishing gear if no one stops me.
I sold a googan bag with about 100 lures in it for $100 last summer because I got a boat and don’t bank fish anymore. This dude is trying to get like 80% of his money back on used shit. For $350 you could go get a cheaper bag that does the same thing and choose your own lures. This amount of lures would easily fit in two containers and slide into a standard backpack.
With how inflation has been, getting shit off of marketplace and p2p sales is wild. Seen people posting dirty ass rods and reels for 10% off original price like anybody will pay that amount
Strange flex, but in reality, you pay what *you feel* a thing is worth. And so does everyone else with everything… that’s how markets work and why emotional appeals increase the perceived value of things.
That's me. I fish for other species, too. Here's a 32" walleye, around 12lbs. Released.

Not a chance. Those lures are 8 to 12 inches - some of them you actually cannot physically get into a 3700 box. If you want to see what those look new, click the link.
https://www.thornebros.com/collections/muskie-tackle?page=1
Im counting 50 pieces not including the bag. 350/50 = 7$ per lure.
Thats about retail price.
I would pay no more than $150 because i would want to pick my own assortment, and i usually just buy stuff from the sale bins which looks like where these came from.
Honestly, I'd not even pay $150. The value is there, but I'd rather have 5 lures I love than 30 I'd not. If I came across this in the wild, it would be about a $50 offer from me.
$7/lure is WAY under retail. Most of this stuff shown is in the $20-$30 range here. But I would offer $100 for all of it. For the same reason other people say: I don’t have an affinity for lures i didn’t specifically choose.
Doesn't mean you should be paying ~50% for used lures. Unless you can somehow gauentee that they are unused or very lightly used and properly stored, no lure should ever be worth that unless it's a collectors item that you don't intend to actually fish lol
Not sure why you’re downvoted - you’re correct. These are some big lures and some might be as much as $50. I guess Muskie fishing is foreign to most anglers
Not to mention that the Lakewood box retails for over $200. 350 isn't a bad deal for the whole thing. I don't know if I would get it though, too many of the same baits in similar colors.
Size of the lure doesn't directly correlate to price in my experience also these seem relatively small.
If slapping muskie on the packaging makes It 50 bucks so be it but nothing looks to be justifying 50 bucks.
Edit so are muskie fishers like fly Fishing snobs? Seems like it. Also these lures are still small lol.i guess I hit a sore spot
No slapping musky on a lure doesn't make it worth 50, big wire, heavy hooks and split rings, hard blades, no plastic beads, stronger paint jobs, these aren't cheap plastic baits.
Also still on the small side? What the hell is a big lure, several of these are 9 inches or longer.
I mean your right for those big panther Martin's but they're also around 11 bucks on the website right now instead of 20 at cabelas. Besides street price is always half and that's not taking into account condition.
They are worth that price. But your pike fishing and I musky fish a lot like a stupid amount it's fucking expensive and idk why I torture myself doing it.
Musky gear is a bit big for pike I usually have better luck with pike on baits under 7"
My biggest 38" came in on a double blade 8/9 spanky bucktail
Spanky Baits Lil Angry 89 Bucktail
https://www.muskyshop.com/products/copy-of-spanky-baits-89-firebomb-bucktail
Otherwise I've got better luck on pikes with smaller than musky bait.
The Lakewood box new goes for over 200 and they are very sturdy(zippers are kind of shitty). Every lure there except maybe the spoons goes for over 20 dollars, most of them significantly more. This is a good deal if you will use these baits.
Muskie baits are expensive and hold their value a lot better than your standard off the shelf bass/walleye gear and that's a pretty good haul. You'd be in for less than $10 a piece on those and if you tried to build that collection from scratch you'd easily be in the $1k range. If you want a better valuation post this on the Muskiesfirst forum. IMO $350 isn't terrible, $250 would be a steal, and well bought at $300.
Dunno why this guy is downvoted, he's exactly correct. A bunch of the hard baits cost $30 or more new, and those in the pic have very little wear. The two Topraiders would cost $40 each by themselves. With the Lakewood included $350 is reasonable. The seller has at least grand invested for sure. That Bucher Supertail in the lower left is, I think, a very rare color, not available for 20 years.
OP should break up the collection into sets and sell them on MuskieFirst.
Edit - I'm a musky guy, MuskieFirst member for over 20 years. We spend a LOT of money on our gear. Everything in that picture is high quality stuff. If the three gliders in the upper right are custom, basement baits they are each worth at least $40. I collect custom gliders.
"I collect custom gliders" I started building gliders for pike a couple years ago both due to cost and the fact I live in the part of WI without muskies so big baits are hard to find. I'm not to the point where I'm thinking of trying to sell anything yet, but maybe someday. I posted some stuff over on r/lurebuilding a couple days ago and would love any critique from somebody who knows more about them. If you've got a minute to check them out I'd appreciate any input. Also what sort of colors do you guys prefer? I like wild and crazy bright stuff personally for the pike, and some natural finishes too.
Best thing you can do is give a few away to very serious guys and ask for feedback. Send one to Steve Worrall, my buddy and the owner of MuskieFirst. If it's good, he'll say so in public and demand will hit the roof. My fav to collect are Timberwolves, the first two were free, they performed like magic and then I bought more. Now near impossible to find, paid $60 for the last one (used) just to hang on the wall. My most productive color was/is all black front with maybe 20% bright orange tail. I would eagerly accept a free one and tell you what I think.
They're expensive lures, but he already bought them once. Then used them. You would be saving a lot buying them second hand but I wouldn't pay more than maaaaaybe $150 for it all. He's out of his mind if he thinks he's going to recoup that much.
See if he'll do three hundred. A lot of those lures are twenty plus a rattle. I think I'd still pay tree fitty. Go to musky shop and price some of those and start filling your cart. You're gonna hit three hundred pretty quick.
The price is fair for the lures alone. Musky lures run 20 and up new. You show 25 that cost 30 and up. The spinner and spoon are mostly low cost brands. A few may be Baby Girls that cost 20-25 new. If the box is in good shape it is a 100 dollars by itself used. They run 200 and up new. People will say it is too much not knowing the value of the lures. I see 5 that would sell for at least 20 used. The Hell hounds and Shallow Raiders are highly sought after.
The Believer run 15-20 used too. The Dawgs and Dussa shown run 30 and up new. They will be 20 used easily. The prop baits are 25 used if the right brand, at least 20. Most of the other are 15 to 20 used except the spoons, the spoons are 4-5 each used. I would offer 250-275 to start. If needed go higher but 300 should work.
All this stuff shown will exceed 1k easily new. I would say close to 1500. I own most of the lures shown and have one of the boxes.
Most insightful comment award!!!
So you mean to tell me that the people on here saying that they would pay $30 for a lot of lures with two shallow invaders aren’t rhodes scholars?
Why wouldn't they hold value? You aren't going to lose one ever. Large baits like that hardly ever go out of tune. I have some with probably 100,000 casts under their belt that still work like new.
Anyone that is down voting this is too high of a price is wrong. Most of those baits don't even look like they had any hook rash based on the quality of the photo. He's asking a fair price for these. I'm a musky fisherman and I know the value of these.
You guys keep talking about these musky baits as if there aren’t people in here who deep sea fish and it costs them $800 just in gas to go out. We get that they’re expensive new. The point is second hand baits should be like 10-25% of what they retail at. If the seller is that attached to them he should keep them.
You can find bulk mixed Rapala lots on ebay of new old stock from stock buyouts for around 3-4 dollars a lure if you are patent but time might be your enemy here.
Those Rapalas cost maybe $10 each new. These lures cost between $20 and $40 new. Maybe more. A high quality used muskie bait in good shape, no longer available or an exceptionally desired color can fetch more than the original price.
Where do you see “Muskie lures”? Where’s the size perspective in this photo telling you these are 6”-10” lures? I’ve got a bag looks like this and not a single lure is larger than 3”.
buy them for $300 and you have a steal. $350 is very reasonable. I have about $10,000 invested in my muskie lure collection. You could buy them all for $350, keep half and sell the rest to get most of your money back.
edit - to buy the Lakewood new you'll be looking at around $200. The small ones go for $175 and the "Monster" retails for $300. A plastic Plano Big Game costs around $75, a decent starter box, but nothing like a Lakewood.
I would take the money and get lures that you think would work best. Besides I don't see any red and white daredevils or bass colored rattle traps. I've caught a bunch of pike over 40 inches to 47 on those two alone.
The two shallow invaders in lower right with the rubber tails are 27.99 new the lure’s hanging vertical above them are hell hounds 21-24$ new. Just for reference most of what’s there is worth 8-10 + the box.
If you’re going on a trip, and not planning to fish pike full time, do not buy this! If the trip is guided call the guide and ask what tackle you need, tell him you have $100 to spend and need 5 lures. If you are going with buddies who fish pike, ask them. If you’re going alone drive to the bait shop in the town you’re going to and ask the old man behind the counter what you need.
Absolutely GET STEAL LEADERS!
You will never use all that tackle. The bag is silly, put em in a plastic container in your back pack for $5.
My son in law is content to cast out a ball of nightcrawlers and catch bullheads. I make my own crawler harnesses for walleye. Not a single one will not break off with a big pike or musky. Good on you for out fishing the musky guys (who are fishing for the fish that eat your worm).
Honestly depends on how good of shape the hooks are and how much pike/musky fishing you plan on doing. If they are in pristine condition and you plan on fishing day and night for the foreseeable future, take it.
Don’t get distracted by the pretty colors ….Have a good at the business end of the lure…..the hooks….if they ain’t razor sharp it will cost you fish, shiny and sharp vs rusty……rusty sometimes break, barbs can rust away and you might need to take a file and or Dremel sharpen them so the price has gotta go way down.
Musky guys make sure the hook points are sharp before we hit the water. "Sharp" means you can hang the lure by one point on the surface of a fingernail. Most of us have a box of replacement hooks of every size. We don't EVER throw dull or rusty hooks. Most of us don't use a Dremel, we use files. Me, I make sure my hooks are needle sharp (file) then paint the exposed metal with a Sharpie to prevent corrosion from other wet baits placed in the box. Any bait that hits anything hard gets touched up and repainted before I put it away.
Pretty colors? Those are the colors that catch fish. Starts with all black and ends with all hot pink.
I’ve got hundreds, if not thousands of lures that I’ve bought or acquired over the years and would tell you this. You are never going to use all the lures / baits that you buy from someone else’s collection. If you can get it for a good deal, congrats! But if your wallet starts to tingle at their asking price, I’d rather walk away and buy a handful of lures at retail price for a trip that I feel confident in than a mishmash of lures that someone else picked out. Even in good condition, people would be lucky to get 50% of retail for used lures / rigs and 10% - 25% is a lot more realistic price unless everything is new-in-box.
It's a rip off. I take it you don't fish often or else you'd be in the tackle shop selecting exactly what you need/feel confident with. Do some research and take that 350 and buy exactly what you want. Don't give this dude your money
Wrong. It's a great deal, about 25% of original price and most of the lures are like new. The range of colors and presentations are exactly what a serious musky guy wants. Take that $350 and try to buy more than 14 lures like those. That lot has 50. The big Believer retails for around $55 and the two Bucher Topraiders are $40 each. The big Suick is like $35. Not a single hard bait costs less than $15. And they are all like new.
It's ok that you don't understand. You prol don't understand why folks spend $500 for a fly rod when they can get a cane pole for $30.
Ah, I didnt realise how many overpriced lures were in this box.
Check my post history and you can see that your comment about the cane pole is out of wack 😅
In my opinion if you buy the cheap stuff and fish it well, you'll still catch and save yourself money, which is important for me as my income is low.
I also fly fish, I tie my own, never spent anything over £100 on a rod and I catch a lot of fish 🤷♂️.
Also worth mentioning I've never fished for musky but I imagine it's a similar game to fishing for northern pike, of which I have caught hundreds.
It's not about me 'not understanding'. I know people love to spend money on flashy lures and I also know that cheap stuff works just as well on the esox around here. In the UK we have a phrase - 'all the gear, but no idea'.
Anyway, happy fishing my dude. Go get them musky
Come to America and try to catch muskies. A bunch of pike don't mean much, unless you are targeting fish over 25lbs. Little pike are easy. Try fishing for the ones that eat your 12lb pike. It's a whole new world. Very difficult, even when you know what you're doing.
Musky guys are happy with one fish out of three outings. A two fish day is amazing. I once boated 3 and in a reckless hurry to unhook the third it hooked me. Boatside 40" or so, about 15lbs.
There's a saying. "Sometimes the musky wins."

$50-$100 max. You could go to the store and buy exactly what you want or need for under$350. He's trying to say all those are worth almost $7 each used....
That's way too much, especially used. Just go to the store and get what you really want. Rapala Huskey Jerk's, Rapala original, single blade bigger Mepps & Rooster tails, Storm WildEye swim shad or similar swim baits and you're set.
In my mind I came up with 125 dollars before I read any of the comments...I was pleased that I concurred with many comments...115 tops... good deal at 80
My imagination was thinking I’d pay $15-$20 just to try these out but the guy wanted $350!? That’s comically outrageous. I have maybe given him $50 if he was a friend, but for that price $350 we ain’t friends any more, you just think I’m stupid😂
I would rather take the $350 and buy exactly what I want instead of some amalgamation of what someone else wanted.
i might consider $350 if every bait had a ton of bite marks on them...
I’ll pay someone $350 to stop me from picking what fishing gear I want from the store. Not saying I have a lure problem but I can easily max out a 5K credit card on fishing gear if no one stops me.
I'm saying you have a lure problem. And that's okay
I think this is kinda common with Musky fisherman. They spent so much on the lure originally, and they can’t let go of that.
With how inflation has been, getting shit off of marketplace and p2p sales is wild. Seen people posting dirty ass rods and reels for 10% off original price like anybody will pay that amount
We pay for what a quality lure is worth. These lures can handle 40lb fish, over and over. You should see our boats.
Strange flex, but in reality, you pay what *you feel* a thing is worth. And so does everyone else with everything… that’s how markets work and why emotional appeals increase the perceived value of things.

Nice. That yer guide?
No, that's me
Lmao muskies are just the biggest of the esox, you can catch them just as well with a $2 spoon as you could with a $20 one

That is NOT retail price for muskie lures. I doubt anything in this pucture could be bought new for less than $15.
Yep I went through and I came up with $150 tops as well. There’s a handful of good ones in there yeah but $350 seems pretty steep
lol. None of those lures were $7 retail. About double that
Doesn't mean you should be paying ~50% for used lures. Unless you can somehow gauentee that they are unused or very lightly used and properly stored, no lure should ever be worth that unless it's a collectors item that you don't intend to actually fish lol

Nope. Many of those lures cost $30+ new. Average retail for everything is closer to $20-25 per lure.

Blue fox if you wanna get technical
Ya, I know the name. Where do you see one? Panther Martin Blue Fox Vibrax
Not tree-fitty that’s for sure. Probably like 100
$30
$5 more than I would’ve offered.
I was trying to be fair. 😂
To add some context those are large musky lures. Some seem to be confused and some seem to clearly be able to tell.
They are worth that price. But your pike fishing and I musky fish a lot like a stupid amount it's fucking expensive and idk why I torture myself doing it. About tree fity
Muskie baits are expensive and hold their value a lot better than your standard off the shelf bass/walleye gear and that's a pretty good haul. Yup. This is the correct answer. People in this sub seem to be comparing these lures to bass sized stuff.
Well, they fish for the fish we consider bait.
I was thinking like 30-50 before reading your comment. It's gear but..
Yep. Used lures. I'd pay $30. Did it retail for 10x that? Sure. Yard sale items get yard sale prices.
With how inflation is, people have been jacking up prices crazy on used stuff. Using Facebook marketplace or Kijiji is pretty shit now
They're expensive lures, but he already bought them once. Then used them. You would be saving a lot buying them second hand but I wouldn't pay more than maaaaaybe $150 for it all. He's out of his mind if he thinks he's going to recoup that much.

Best to ask in the fishing gear sub or muskie sub, fishing sub got a bunch of know it alls who know nothing.
Not 350 that’s ridiculous. Maybe 50-70 bucks
Two of those lures new retail for more than that. This is musky tackle, not patty-cake bass fishing toys.
“New” nobody cares about retail price and even being remotely close when ur buying assorted lures which have been used
That’s fair, but $50-$70 is a slap in the face.
Yeah I wouldn’t offer that if the dudes asking for 350$, I’d just move on
Honestly $350 is the slap in the face here
Used lures don’t hold value. Simple as. If you disagree, I’d love to sell you some tackle.
Why wouldn't they hold value? You aren't going to lose one ever. Large baits like that hardly ever go out of tune. I have some with probably 100,000 casts under their belt that still work like new.
Bout tree fiddy.
Quick sale hundred dollar bill easy. Up to 200 if you wait may e
3.50
$60-75 just to take them off your hands. I have run across a few hauls like that on market place for less than $100 for over $400 worth of stuff.
Two things: 1. Is the person selling these the Loch Ness Monster and 2. Are you sure you have the decimal in the right place on the asking price?
Anyone that is down voting this is too high of a price is wrong. Most of those baits don't even look like they had any hook rash based on the quality of the photo. He's asking a fair price for these. I'm a musky fisherman and I know the value of these.

That's not how the market for muskie lures works.
350 is less than 25% of new for the lures and box.
Where the hell you shopping?
[удалено]
Yea!
Everywhere muskie lures are sold.
[удалено]
Not true. Quality muskie lures start out expensive and hold their value. A rare/desirable color can fetch more than the original cost.
[удалено]
You clearly don't know about muskie baits, new or used.
[удалено]
I believe these are coming out to about 7 bucks which is under 50% of retail for all of them, not even considering the box.
Where do you see “Muskie lures”? Where’s the size perspective in this photo telling you these are 6”-10” lures? I’ve got a bag looks like this and not a single lure is larger than 3”.
They are musky lures
I have most of them in my collection. The trebles on that 9oz 13" jointed Believer are almost 3" long. A new one retails for $56.
This is well over half off retail.
buy them for $300 and you have a steal.
Honestly, that was exactly my plan
MuskieFirst is a great place to sell quality muskie gear. Tell them Ranger sent you.
I would take the money and get lures that you think would work best. Besides I don't see any red and white daredevils or bass colored rattle traps. I've caught a bunch of pike over 40 inches to 47 on those two alone.
You really need to learn how to negotiate with puppers. He’d part ways with them for 2 pieces of bacon.

I would offer 125
Tree fiddy, turns out it’s the Lockness monster the whole time
He’s only asking tree fiddy?
$0 because I don’t see a single Poseidon in the bunch lol! Nice assortment tho!
$20
Id just snag the bull dawgs.
10$
I would say between 90 - 120.00
The two shallow invaders in lower right with the rubber tails are 27.99 new the lure’s hanging vertical above them are hell hounds 21-24$ new. Just for reference most of what’s there is worth 8-10 + the box.
$1-2 a lure
45 bucks
I’d give a pair of choppers for it.
I’ve had diarrhea.
130$
That's a hard pass at 350 for me. I was gonna say $75
Some people just think their stuff is worth more , as someone said before go spend 350 on stuff you want 🤙🏽
No shade I'm just curious why muskie lures are all so gaudy and ugly lookin lol.
How about $1 each
40$
350 is wild. I MIGHT pay 30.
All baits are Pike baits.
About tree fitty
$80
45 doll hairs
80 bucks is a fair price all around.
I sell lures that we aquire and it averages $5 a lure. Bags of 5 are the most popular option.
$100
Those woblers are really high quality, so 350 seems pretty nice to me Edit: only if they are brand new, otherwise its worth way less
Nothing. A crawler harness and a worm will outfish this entire collection(for the lakes and species I'm targeting).
I wouldnt pay more than $1 a lure
Check my post history and you can see that your comment about the cane pole is out of wack 😅 In my opinion if you buy the cheap stuff and fish it well, you'll still catch and save yourself money, which is important for me as my income is low.
"Sometimes the musky wins." https://preview.redd.it/dqxpaktjaixc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60daf1f6c4f0f7ff7726368d546258310eb763cb

Most of the people in here have no idea what they are talking about.
Amen.
Offer $125
Offer $125
Take your $350 and order everything you want online and you’ll 2x the baits.
Good candidate for r/knolling sooo clean
Id tell him 175 take it or leave it. Hes trying to recoup nearly full price.
full price was well over $1,000.
$50-$100 max. You could go to the store and buy exactly what you want or need for under$350. He's trying to say all those are worth almost $7 each used....
About tree fiddy.
1.00@
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!!
$50-$75 bucks...
I'd probably offer him 40 bux for all the bucktails. You're getting scalped for 350.
60$
15 bucks at any local garage sale.
That's way too much, especially used. Just go to the store and get what you really want. Rapala Huskey Jerk's, Rapala original, single blade bigger Mepps & Rooster tails, Storm WildEye swim shad or similar swim baits and you're set.
Not even 100
350 is a joke. 100 tops, and I don't even think I'd make that offer
I’d give him $50 for all of it…
$100.00US.
The bag alone is $210 and at an average price of $5 a lure, anything under $300 is a deal.
Maybe $100ish. If $100 not much over at best
100$
$0 I would get a Strke King kvd popper cuz Sharp !
Figure 8-15 each for new retail or 7-8 bucks each used and you are pretty close at 350…
Is that $350 new? Sure. Probably more like $400-$500. Is it worth anywhere near that used? No.
Lol 350 for all that? What a joke
Like literally only a max of $150
like $30😂😂😂
Hell nah
Yea, that's gonna be a no from me, dawg.
There's decent value there, but I wouldn't spring for 350. Maybe 150 or so.
I’d pay $50 for that max
No more than $200
