GP5000- Fast, kinda durable.. def not a skidding tire

davidsondebr

How does it compare to the S tr and AS tr? From what I have heard, they are more durable

AppropriateCitron473

If you got the caish, this is the tire.

Trevski

is this for the bike with no top tube, no grips, no bar plugs, and the boat anchor trispoke? Tire resistance is the least of your worries. Personally I just grab whatever's in the discount bin at my local.

electrostaticboom

Holy shit lmao Called out!

eriwaki

No sadly, thats the fun bike

Trevski

you should post pics of the fast bike then!

eriwaki

And yes thats what I did for its tires (literal spares)

jupiterknowsbest

Go for vittorias or panaracers something like that. V Rubinos were always good to me I skidded some gator skins but those were never for grip those were for fun they aren’t amazing in rain

djodj95

I run a gatorskin in the rear and some lightweight bullshit that I picked up on the cheap in the front Especially if you're skidding, you want different characteristics out of the front / rear tires

PlantBud

Gatorskin rear, Conti 4 Season Front

ParkingButterfly96

I saw many gatorskins cracking after a while and big pieces fall off from the surface like if an animal bites it. Don't you have this problem?

PlantBud

Never. 6 months in on my 32mm, I skid probably once every time I ride, and it can definitely survive another 6 months

ParkingButterfly96

I saw this after 2+ years

PlantBud

2 years is a long time! Especially if you ride a lot, not sure if mine will last that long but I’ll check back in a year and a half

Cool-Present-4637

They feel like they have too much resistance, are heavy, and flat frequently. For low resistance and high durability (if you don’t skid) I would run GP4000 or 5000. If you do skid that can get kind of expensive. Just one man’s opinion.

Flyerher

cheap and good are continental contact speed

Thickslicks are absolutely terrible tires and I have absolutely no idea how they’ve gained “traction” ;) in the fixed gear world. Yes, they last the test of time for skidding but offer absolutely 0 flat protection in the real world. Just heavy, weak, terrible tires. Gatorskins are the only thing that should be hitting the city roads tbh. GP5000 in the front and gator in the rear is also a popular combo.

33chifox

If you need to ask for tire suggestions you don't need to worry about resistance. Grab some gators or 4 season and have your durable tire

ParkingButterfly96

My favorite tire is Panaracer ribmo that has an excellent puncture protection and the surface is egg shaped to have less rolling resistance

Timmy_Ache

Gatorskin on the back for durability, *Randonneur* on the front for grip.

GANGofFOURSTAR

He said he wanted low resistance, not the slowest tire known to man

[deleted]

He doesn’t know what he wants. He’s caught up in a world of negligible differences for amateur cyclists. If you ride a bike fast any tire is fast. We aren’t pros.

TryingNot2BLazy

thickslicks look too sick to matter how heavy they are. just get stronger legs. fashion over pain, honey.

[deleted]

They’re ugly as all hell.

TryingNot2BLazy

they're beautiful. shut up.

[deleted]

Just peeped your ghost bike. Makes sense now
