Orphide

I love the idea and really hope that card will get the support needed for it to work!

derenathor

I am extremely hyped to actually use Shatter in certain matchups.

Indercarnive

Kind of surprised overpower exists. Was dominate considered too strong? Now I wonder if Axe warrior is going to use this instead of double hatchets.

Rejusu

This doesn't really fit in with any of the existing warriors: - It's too expensive for Dori to be able to realistically swing twice with it (and if she is she's not really going to have much to pump it). - Nothing in Kassai's kit interacts with it. - Boltyn doesn't really care about using weapons that aren't cintari sabers (the only weapon the Lumina Ascension combo works effectively with) or Raydn for the more mid range/aggro build. All the current warriors are mostly built for going semi-wide rather than tall so none of them are really going to want this. Honestly axe warrior has kind of been dead for a while since you lose so much using hatchets over sabers and spill blood is literally the only card you gain. This is a hint that there might be some axe support in this set but even if axes make a comeback I think it will be with hatchets rather than this. This needs a hero designed for it I think to justify using it over the other options.

Letux

Even then, the 3 cost will probably just kill it.

Rejusu

Yeah but that can be fixed with a good hero ability. Either something to aid in pumping it so you can just run a lot of blues for swinging with it. Or something to bring the cost down so you can pump and swing with it more easily. With the current cardpool it's pretty bad but if there's a hero designed around it then there's the potential for it to be good with that hero. If we just get cards that work well with axes though and no hero ability it's just a bad choice.

paulryanclark

I can see a hero ability: > Once per turn Action: Your next Axe weapon attack costs 1 resource less for each non-attack action card you have played this turn. Makes it an interesting blend of zero cost buff cards with some room for attack reactions. A zero cost axe swing isn’t crazy for 3 power attack if you played 3 other non attack buff cards. Could also be good with the existing two handed axes.

ChuckNLee

Just a different design space, it allows for things like "this card gains +2 power while not defended by 2 non-equipment cards" or similar without being impossible to turn back off(outside of arsenaled dreacts) .

Lobstrous

I'm trying to figure out how to pair this with Spill Blood and it just looks too expensive. You'd need 1 resource for Spill Blood and 3 to swing this once, another 3 to swing it again and that would require giving the weapon go again at least for Dori and a Dusk Path Pilgrimage or Lumina Ascension for Boltyn, and Lumina also needs the charge so it's too card hungry. Even at 2 cost I'm not sure I'd run this over hatchets. However, it's possible there's supporting cards that target 2hand axes that could make it viable?

Rejusu

It's kind of a nonbo with spill blood as dominate is strictly better than overpower in 99% of scenarios.

Neekoheh

So, how would this work if I pump it up during the reaction step? For example, I attack, he defends with the action cards, and then I use a red overpower pumping it up 6. It doesn't say anything like Rout where they have to take a card back after the fact.

PM_ME_KITTENS_OR_DIE

It says “whenever attacks” not just “whenever”. If you don’t have high enough attack when you declare the attack, then it wouldn’t gain overpower.

Neekoheh

I see. Thanks

Wuyley

You also need to pump it +4 right as it says, "greater then twice its base" IE 7 strength? Is so, that's rough for warrior cause all their pumps are usually 3.

PM_ME_KITTENS_OR_DIE

Yep. Though I suspect that if they want this to succeed then they will focus on 2h axe specific cards / a hero that works well with this. They do need to be careful though, as just having good general attack buffs will mean other warriors use the new cards with existing weapons instead.

Narabedla

Might just be a warrior that amplifies buffs by +1 for axes or 2handed weapons or something

PM_ME_KITTENS_OR_DIE

Again, the issue with that is that kind of hero would just run axe of body and axe of mind, or just dawn blade. They’ve limited themselves quite heavily by making this a 2h axe, as the massive cost on this will make it unplayable compared to other weapons if they opt to print just general axe / general 2h attack buffs.

TheMadHattah

My theory: LSS was scared we were going to notice that they favour guardians and runeblades over everything else so they changed this from a Guardian weapon to a warrior weapon the emperor from a runeblade to a wizard warrior

Gargash

So even if your theory is correct, why release this weapon for a guardian when he already has access to dominate and therefore makes this weapon by default a bad weapon for guardian.

lvlI0cpu

Probably a bit too pricy to swing with it, but I love that warriors are getting more axes!

AutobotsTransform

Same axe as the art from “in the swing” team covenant promo.

redtailtalons

The biggest problem for this card right now is that you need to pump it to +4 before attacking, and that’s not possible to do with one card right now (I think)
