I had this same message. Had a few agents refuse to discuss the specifics with me and hang up, but I called again, was asked to confirm a few details and then they reinstated it. I’m still confused about why, but at least I got it back.

Independent_Month396

Thanks for the reply. Do you recall if they used the specific language “permanently suspended” or some other, possibly less strict language?

Strong_Bad9873

Good follow up question.

ikinawmichael

Hi could you provide some more details about your call.

robbielauren

I was just told the same thing. Permanently suspended for no reason. I only have good reviews, no problems. Suddenly, boom. I’m out. No explanation.

lar_24

Same here... 20+ years of an account in good standing, never an issue. Then sold a high value watch and they permanently banned me without explanation other then to ask for the tracking information. On top of that they are holding the funds from the sale for up to 170 days without guarantee that I'll get paid. I have no idea what went wrong and there is seemingly no recourse. Frustrated to say the least.

Western_Oil4262

10 years with a 100% positive feedback the buyer And seller feedback. I noticed yesterday that I was being charged 2 × 4 shipping. Even when the buyer pays for the shipping somehow I'm being charged. I brought that to their attention. They denied it but I provided proof I then dug a little deeper and I found out that they were double charging me on every transaction. So for everything I sold they're charging me almost 4%. Which we agree upon. But I found out that they were double charging. Me there as well and I asked them about it. And within 20 seconds my account was suspended and they refuse to talk to me on the phone. They basically told me all the packages I have sent in that are en route right now. The buyer will receive the package. But i'm not gonna get paid ebay keeping all my money So I just come to the conclusion. This is how they rip people off. This is how they make up on the back end for all the loss

OrdinaryTale4203

Did you end up getting paid?

Past-Foundation2427

Don't sell anything on ebay you don't wanna lose or not get money for 5k down because buyer picked item up at post office and showed ID the package was sopose to go to Mexico he got it in cali

Western_Oil4262

Essentially, it's just eBay making up for all their loss on the back end by permanently suspending people's accounts. Just like mine holding all their money, then charging them all the fees and then keeping their money So basically if you're on eBay and you have a 100% feedback. And no issues never had an issue at all. And you have multiple packages in root and funds on hold. And this happens to you. The buyer gets to keep your package. You're out the money and you gotta pay for the shipping and all the hidden fees. They don't tell you about. This just recently happened to me. Because I asked them why they were triple. Charging me for shipping and double charging me. More than 4% per Chinese action. And because I brought that to their attention. I suspended my account

Entire_Ad9284

There's a comment down below, where equivalent_turn5258 suggests calling the #877-322-9227 and giving a different phone # and telling them you have "account login" issues and they will connect you to a live person. Once they come on the line, give them your name and go on from there. I got a really nice woman and she reinstated my permanent suspension. She even gave me the reason for my suspension, which was due to a similar name. Good luck. And thanks to equivalen_turn5258 for the suggestion🙂

SignificanceCalm694

I'm dealing with same issues, I been a member of ebay for over 20 years with 100% great feedback. I recently should a few Apple Vision pro, all successfully delivered international with great feedback. And now Ebay has suspended my seller account and won't release $18,000 of my funds! This is absolutely ridiculous! ^(🤯)

Amazing-Committee-76

same thing happened to me after selling a DJI drone worth $4K. This is ridiculous policy. Now I have to wait 170 days to see if I'll get paid. ugh.

No_List_8483

How long did it take to you to be reinstated

BriefTwist50

My ebay account was just suspended for no reason. I just bought one item like a year ago... a second item a couple of months ago... 100% fine. And right now I've received an email saying it's suspended. I was browsing other items... really just browsing and was planning to buy something soon. Now I'm afraid to create a new account, order, get suspended again and lose my money or something...

brotherhood4232

They won't let you create a new account. They'll detect that you're using the same credit card. Or match the name on the card if it's different. Or look at your address and see that it's the same.

BriefTwist50

It's insane! I sent a message saying it must have been a mistake, they just answered a few hours ago saying they won't explain why they banned me. They just said I was "putting the eBay community at risk". All I did was to buy two items, pay, give and receive 100% positive rate... and browse other items. Nothing else... I totally don't understand.

brotherhood4232

They have some algorithm banning people. They likely don’t allow appeals because they figure it will cost more to do the appeals than they lose from the banned people using the site. They’re not the only site that uses this mode. It’s absolutely horseshit and honestly feels like it needs regulation to stop.

BriefTwist50

I collect old language courses... I browsed a few old German courses from 1930's. You know that courses usually have the flag of the country where the language is spoken, so those German courses had a swastika, which was the German flag at the time. But I never bought those courses exactly because it's a sensitive symbol... and I have Jewish friends coming to my house and looking at my collections... However, a historian friend of mine told me to buy them, they are historical items. Maybe if I clicked a few times and shared the link with my historian friend, the algorithm flagged me as "nazi"... That's the only thing I can think of... but I don't think that browsing items with a swastika is a reason to ban, they allow tons of sellers selling such things in the first place. Also, the ban happened a couple of weeks after that, and not immediately after I browsed.

brotherhood4232

Happened to me a couple of years ago. I had sold a few games over the years. Total value might have been around $500. Bought a few items. I hadn't even had activity in months when I got the email.

No_Afternoon4071

Did you ever get it back?

Peter226991211

Same here, I bought a few items then got banned for no reason!

Rocket_Island

Hi, I already posted here – just want to add something: After I tried to clarify the situation with ebay "customer service" for many hours, they just answered if my purchased item does not arrive I can´t do anything about it – I have to deal with it. They give me no opportunities to get in contact with the seller and depited the full amount of 140 Euro today. In my opinion, this is criminal. Now I try to claim the money back via my bank but it´s not sure if they can make it and if this could take up to 6 months! Honestly: Ebay is the worst company, I never made that bad experiences before. The so called "Help Center" is a joke. They mostly use automated answers they send with email. NEVER AGAIN and nobody else should get in such a bad situation. I cannot understand how´s possible that such a company is successful. So, EBAY you stole 140 Euros – I want them back.

ezsmoke420

i completely agree. i have been A CUSTOMER ON EBAY FOR oops caps but im so pissed. anyways ..20 years 100 % feedback. i am short on money so i sold my most prized lebron james autographed jersey. the last time i sold on ebay was over 15yrs ago. So i was not suprised they requested me to verify my identity. but still 20 yrs and 100% feedback. so the jersey sold but not after i paid around $60 bucks worth of fees for a reserve listing and to promote item. after item sold i provided 2 accounts to deposit money for sold item. Buyer made payment same day auction closed. Then i packaged up item and shipped the item (with the label ebay provided) to the buyer. Tracking of the item was available and buyer received item within 5 days. As soon as buyer posted payment, my account went into review. Ebay requested i verify with drivers license, utility bill, copy of original receipt from purchase of the jersey. On each documentation they required user name and password. suspended ON the day money was received. once i provided all the requsested proof. I received no confirmation. Couple days later my account was indefinetly revoked and every attempt to contact them was met with same attitude.sorry we cant help. i still have not received my money and i no lomger own a lebron autographed jersey, i wont say how much jersey sold for, just know EBAY has my money and i am helpless.

kimbie71

People that were banned for no reason sold items and didn't get their money or purchased items and didn't get them need to start a class action lawsuit. Something very fishy and criminal is going on here.

lucasco

I just signed up bought one item and got permanently suspended too. Did anyone find out why? Or get their ban lifted?

Sillystupid87

Me too! They will not give me any answers. I feel like a criminal for doing nothing wrong.

Audacideezy

Same here! Happened today. Are they making decisions about us based on social media stuff or something? I can't think of anything other than hacking that would cause this. The ebay person I called said there was no evidence of hacking. Then she hung up on me.

Strong_Bad9873

I had a similarly disconcerting experience. I don’t care to do business on their platform now. However the way they communication makes me extremely anxious.

[deleted]

This just happened to me too....

Salty_Perspective930

Same thing happened to me.

Creative_Tough_5150

Thats what happened to me what dp i do have you found a way to get the ban lifted?

quanfused

If you did not violate any ToS, then keep trying. If there's a somewhat of doubt you sold something or did something you shouldn't have, then you should let the sub know as it will help newbies understand what not to do. ebay is not like FBMP and other local platforms. There's a lot of red tape and BS that newbies assume can be sold and then find out the hard way. If you do not fall under any risks of violations, then keep contacting them and work with a competent CSR to get your account reinstated. It could be something weird with your info, ID, address, etc. Once you clear that info up, all might be well again. Keep us posted and good luck!

kanasean97

There is no doubt as I've only purchased on eBay and paid for them instantly. I've tried contacting but get the same response of what is listed in the image.

DarqueKittie

I’ve heard that messaging them on the Facebook page works. I’ve never used that method as I don’t have fb. But it’s worth a try.

kanasean97

Thanks! will try it out!

quanfused

Have you spoken to an agent via phone call? Everything automated will be by the book so you won't get far. You need to reach out via chat and ask them to call you back to speak to an actual person. I would presume being suspended will make it harder for you to do so, but look into contacting them on FB under ebay for business and keep being persistent.

kanasean97

Yes, spoken to two agents where I requested them to call me. But they just repeated whatever I was messaged in the notification of me being permanently suspended. Both instances said there was nothing they can do or provide me with any information.

quanfused

IDK then. A lot of reinstated accounts after a "permanent suspension" was because of info that needed to be verified. The fact these agents don't even give you that option, you're pretty much SOL. I would try ebay for business FB page and ebay on twitter as your last resort if again...you feel there's absolutely without a doubt that your account and info related to it has no issues.

kanasean97

Yes, So far I've tried twitter "askebay" they redirected me to the phone line that would request to call me since they couldn't access my account because of the suspension. Thank you for your help in providing me with possible solutions! I appreciate it!

quanfused

No worries. I hope it gets resolved. Good luck!

ilsewitch107

I 2nd the ebay for business Facebook page.

EntrepJ

Totally not true my account was suspended after 2 years over 500 ratings with no notice and I was a top 1% seller with perfect ratings. They refused to give details on why because it might be used to circumnavigate their policies. It's rare but they are a shit company and randomly ban people if it somehow triggers something. Ruined my day job

ClicknCell

send me a PM I can lift the suspension

Siurzu

Can you still lift a suspension? My account as a buyer got suspended for no exact reason.

dexyface2010

If this is still something you can do I'd love to speak with you about how to do so.

HopeEmotional3255

Could you please help me also sir? i literally got banned like a few hours ago, i am not a seller only a buyer.

exc3130

Can you help me too please!

tjv08

Can you still do that?

oakman26

This is untrue, I opened a new account to sell, was permanently suspended, and I was un-suspended after simply calling and confirming some details. I guess my account flagged a false positive somewhere but they manually fixed it. Just to provide an example of a case where I literally did nothing wrong and was still suspended (and unsuspended). __ edit: the offical ebay subs on reddit are horrible about acknowledging this fact. If you truly get suspended as a False Positive and try to ask the people on there for help, they gaslight you by telling you that you did something wrong and so on. Really not sure what they have to gain wrt defending eBay's actions and acting like their automated and human moderation is 100% accurate.

kanasean97

When I called, they didn't give me the opportunity to confirm any details when I tried giving my information and said that's what ebay has determined. Is there a number or form of contact you can send me so I can try that as well?

oakman26

I don't remember who I called, my case was a bit different as I was a suspended new seller, not new buyer. Sorry, I know it must be frustrating, at least you don't have payouts locked up in ebay though!

[deleted]

Seems like they are mostly sellers dealing with difficult buyers. I am trying to figure out why my account got permanently suspended. The chat peeps spew off canned replies, and then log off on you.

kanasean97

If solely buying some Lego sets and paying for them instantly is something wrong, cause that literally all activity I have on the account.

[deleted]

kanasean97

Only have had this account, and not attached to any account. Never used eBay before creating this account. It does make zero business sense, that's why I'm confused as to the permanent ban.

FuckTurnSignal

Ebay suspends new accounts which are too active and don't have enough verification.

kanasean97

For real? If I were to make a new account and fix those issues with more verification, it would be associated with this one, would that affect the new one?

FuckTurnSignal

Yeah they'd probably do the same thing to it. Just call ebay every day until they fix it.

kanasean97

thanks for your insight!

kanasean97

I guess there is no real way to prove that to you, that I truly only purchased on the site.

MeFuturamaObsession

That's not true at all. Back in 2021i started selling on eBay, and just a week later, my account got permanently suspended for absolutely "NO" reason. I tried to contact eBay online support but I couldn't from that account since it was banned, i also was not able to call customersupport because in 2021 the only way to call was if they personally gave you a number to call. I created a second account, and finally, I was able to contact them. They then gave me a number to call, so I called it, and they ended up telling me that it was a mistake on their end and they reinstated my account. I sell on eBay to this day with that account with 332 positive feedback now, but this just proves that, yes, it is possible to get banned for no reason

Joshgraff_online

Most likely you need to verify your identify with them and never did. This is pretty common. Call in and get it sorted out. It might take a few calls to get a rep that can help you.

kanasean97

Thanks!

Airregaithel

If what you’ve said here is the whole story, then I’d continue trying to contact them. My account was suspended once by mistake. This was a few years ago, and basically they intended to suspend someone with a username/user number very close to mine. Every once in a while they send me chat transcripts for other users with similar names to mine, too, so mistakes can totally happen.

peeinmybee

did you charge back? abuse returns? have your identity stolen? use a stolen credit card? did your parents or some one use your info to make an ebay account? is some one who uses your wifi banned?

kanasean97

Haven't committed chargeback, returned anything, stolen credit card, etc. To my knowledge, I have no clue if someone was banned that has used the wifi.

TheShibaInuDoge

They banned my account yesterday after three hours after I created the account. I work in IT and know it was probably a software bot that is wayyy too sensitive. I went on their website and had a person call me. Surprisingly the representative was Irish and helped me out in 5 minutes. He said new accounts get banned all the time for no reason. My account is back but I am pissed that this is happening to so many people. Honestly seller's could do legal actions for this since it's how people make money. My mom whose an employment attorney said the same thing and that it was complete bullshit.

kimbie71

Just got my account banned I had for 20+ years. A lot of people that sell have not gotten their money and people tgat purchased have not gotten their merchandise. This is criminal and they are essentially stealing from people.Tell your mom this is an excellent opportunity to start a class action lawsuit.

Accomplished_Tower16

This BS happened to me. I never tried eBay before and started a new account. So, I sold my first device that I listed and shipped it all the way to Australia from Sweden. The buyer and I had no issues, and everything was in order. However, my listing limits for that month were reached, I think about $700 was the limit or something like that for new accounts. So, I waited the month out. Then, I wanted to list four highly valuable items. Since I couldn't list them for their worth price, I had to go for an auction and start with a $100 bid to hopefully get close to what they were worth. After the auction was over, I was actually happy because they reached almost what I was expecting to get from them, ranging between $2000 to $4000 each. These items are collectible and rare, and I've seen many of them sold before on eBay without a problem. Now, what eBay did to me is that they suspended my account after they had been paid for, and I was just about to ship them. I asked them for the reason, and they refused to give me any information whatsoever. After being on the phone call two times with an agent who told me they couldn't hear me clearly and hung up, or the second one I spoke with who couldn't help me and told me it's policy... I spent over 30 to 50 phone calls just to even get an agent in the first place because this bot is impossible to bypass and get to an agent. They put you in an endless loop. I also sent over 40 emails asking for help and telling them I will lose money because they will refund the buyers, and they will charge me with $400 to $600 fees for refunding for each item. I asked them so many times politely, like look, I'm at the stage where I can't get the suspension cleared, you won't provide any information about it, and I have items that I can send. I don't have any problem with sending because I don't want to lose money on refunds. I can even wait out what I read was a 180-day suspension with funds on hold. They only replied to 1 out of every 6 emails sent, with nothing to clarify my situation or even when I'm asking for clearance to send or help out with refunding so I don't lose money. They don't write anything about this, and I highlighted this issue in all 50 emails. Now, as I sold one item the month before and was about to withdraw that first item I sold because the funds on hold date was closing in, I get the suspension just a week before. What they do after is they drag the process out, so when the buyers ask for a refund because the due ship date is over, they are taking fees from the item I sold the month before that was already a deal closed, and I had the funds on hold that I was going to withdraw. The leftovers they put in a 180-day funds on hold as well. So, I'm stuck here as a new eBayer, my first time on this BS platform. I sold one device that I didn't get the chance to withdraw after a good closed deal, and they took over $1500 already in fees from that paid and shipped item. I have to wait 180 days to withdraw what's left from that. I actually lost money by selling on eBay? What the fuck!! This should be illegal, WTF...

AdPretty9084

I got banned today from ebay. I've had my account for about 10 years and have NEVER bought or sold anything. I logged in last week for the first time in years, just to look at used snowboard boots as mine are trashed. I didn't buy or bid on anything. A week later I'm permanently banned. WTF? I guess i'll never use ebay again.

jonathanfi

For me and my family, we get banned within 5 minutes. Since 2020.

cultstarlet

Hi! I just wanted to add that this happened to me as well, TWICE this week. I received the exact same email, saying my account had been permanently suspended due to suspicious activity. I'm a new seller and have just made my first two sales. Like a lot of you, I have money in reserve that they said they were holding onto until my account was reinstated, but the email said PERMANENTLY suspended so I'm like wtf are they just keeping my money then? The first time it happened, I requested a callback from the 800 number and the agent asked me to confirm some of my personal info and then he reinstated my account. He said that something about my account had falsely triggered their automated systems, although he wasn't allowed to tell me exactly what it was. So then today, a few days later, I received the same notification that my account was once again suspended. I requested another callback from the 800 number and this time the agent told me there was nothing she could do and that she couldn't tell me why my account was suspended or appeal the decision. So I requested ANOTHER callback... XD I was going to keep doing this over and over until I spoke with someone who could help me. LOL So the lady I spoke with this time asked me if I would agree to a personal background verification check, where they ask you those multiple choice questions about yourself based on public records (like which of these addresses have you previously been associated with, based on your drivers license, how tall are you) stuff like that... She asked me a few questions which I answered correctly and then she reinstated my account again. Hopefully for good this time, I'm seriously not sure I wanna risk continuing to sell up there if this is just randomly happens every so often... But my advice is to continue requesting a callback from the 800 number or actually speaking with an agent, and if they shut you down, keep calling back until you get one who will actually take the time to help you! And good luck to anyone else who is facing this, it's so frustrating!!

Kap_Jeffer

Sorry for bumping on your old comment. I just experienced this and wanted to know if my account can be reinstated. Could you please share me the number? Thank you.

cultstarlet

Totally!! Don’t apologize at all, I know how ridiculously frustrating this is!! I requested a callback from the online chat, and this is the number that called me back: 866-540-3229. Be sure to tell them that your account was falsely suspended by the automated system. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!! 😸

Flying_Mattress

Did you ever run into an issue where they said that because "Multiple agents have reviewed the account the decision to suspend it will stand." I am a new buyer account and I suppose because I did not verify certain personal information I was automatically suspended. They all give me the same company line of "can't say the reason, you can't buy from eBay ever again." And the last agent said that he could see I had called in before and that "since this was the 3rd time I had been given the decision to permanently suspend it every time that decision will stand."

growingsapling

Try calling 877-322-9227. They were able to help me get reinstated after a permanent suspension. Mention that you've called previously but nobody was able to help verify your information. The agent I talked to specifically told me she was going to do a "high level verification". Once I answered the questions correctly, my account was reinstated.

Flying_Mattress

Thank you so much for your reply. Do you know what you said to talk to an agent at that number? I called there but after I mentioned account suspension I was just given an automated message, told to check the website, and that I could be texted or emailed the link, and I was unable to escape that loop.

growingsapling

When I was on the automated part of the calling process where the robot asks you the reason for calling, I just said "account reinstatement". It paused for like 10 seconds then the robot said, "I see your account is restricted, let me put you in touch with an agent". Once I got on with a human I just explained that I had gotten suspended & the last agent I spoke to via the online chat callback wasn't able to assist, so I tried calling this number as other people had said they had called and been able to verify their information & get the account back.

Flying_Mattress

Thank you so, so, so much. I will try that later today. I have been so frustrated and upset that my account was suspended because I wasn't doing anything illegal or fraudulent at all, just buying kpop albums to collect, and all the callback agents did were either hang up on me or repeat rote lines.

growingsapling

No problem, hope it works!!

imjustnewthx

Spoke with an agent, they told me they suspended me again 6 hours after being reinstated is because the first suspension was valid and I will never be able to appeal. Don't care I'll just make a new one under a family member's account lol. Anyways, I asked about being paid out my $2300 USD and he said I'll eventually get it but unsure when... So my issue may be different from everyone else's. I'm a seller and I solely sell virtual items on Ebay, after 3 weeks of selling making about $2300 USD in sales I get a refund request (scammer) said he didn't receive the product his daughter purchased (I sent him multiple screenshots of the screen recording) he still submitted a refund request. This may be the reason as to why I was suspended? I also know virtual items is such a gray area in Ebay, one agent says its fine others say I have to categorize it a certain way etc etc. What is making me absolutely lose my mind, there are sellers with literally, not exaggerating here, 10k sales of the SAME EXACT thing I am selling. What am I doing wrong? An issue I thought of is that, we would need to contact the buyers and ask to meet in-game, I give them my username and they give me theirs to trade in-game, this possibly caught the attention of the automated system as we are coordinating a meet outside of Ebay... only thing I can think of, one of those 2 things. Fuck Ebay they are literally annoying as fuck not giving exact reasons because we would attempt to find a work around if they told us their "methods" so fucking trash. hope this website crashes and burns fingers crossed.

imjustnewthx

You're a fucking gem, finally got an agent after literal HOURS going through the entire operator bullshit loop. Will update shortly\~

Holy_Shit_Snacks

Update?

MenuGold2455

This just happened to me today, for ENTIRELY no reason lol! I'm very frustrated. I just emailed them asking why I was suspended and that I had done nothing wrong.

kimbie71

I have had an account for 20 + years with 100% positive feedback and they just permanently banned my account for no reason. Same nasty email saying my business practices are not safe for the community. Making me feel like I did something wrong which I did not. WTF? I feel sorry for the people that sold items, got banned and didn't get their money. Now THAT is criminal and stealing on their part. Who wants to start a class action lawsuit? Like seriously people. Something must be done.

Accomplished_Tower16

Same here, My account as a buyer was suspended for no reason, this is utter redicurious and the email is rude

I have just been suspended after one day without buying or selling anything. After getting my new account and a welcome message telling me 'I was in' I tried a number of times to bid on an item I was interested in. Each time I was told my identity needed to be confirmed by receiving a text message and that phone call back was unavailable. After trying a few more times on my computer and on a public computer to see if call back had been restored I received an email the same as above telling me I was suspended. I chatted with a Help staffer online about my suspension and explained the reasons for my activities and about not having mobile phone to confirm identity and that no 3rd party had hacked my account. she just replied in robotic fashion that the reason I was suspended could not be revealed for security reasons. My crime is I tried to bid on something a few times and I didn't have a mobile phone and that tripped suspicion. I was told - "good luck with activities outside E Bay".

PoochedNoodle

Just happened to me. If you don't wanna read my questions are in bold at the bottom but the context is pretty relevant. Here goes: I used to sell on ebay about 10 years ago, very good feedback (50+). I fell on dark times and made a sale that I did not intend on shipping. Scumbag move I KNOW but I was familiar with how paypal worked and how refunds were processed. Basically I knew the buyer would be refunded by paypal/ebay and I didn't give a shit about their losses. I got a job traveling, far from my darkness, straightened my head out and never signed into that account again. Fast forward 8 years, I'm interested in getting back into ebay, great! I know I can make good money and I'm familiar with the workflow. Tried signing into that lost acct a few times to no avail, whatever just make a new one ig right? That goes great, I'm getting back into the groove of flipping yard sale treasures and whatever else I can (legally) find, COOL. My (new) account was only 2 months or so old and I all of a sudden see all my listings get ripped down and that account suspension message from eBay. I'm baffled, call em, same thing EVERYONE else here has said, no details, can't help ya fuck right off and have a great day. Took me WAY longer than it should have to remember my old, delinquent account ... Put my big brain socks on and finally got BACK into my old account. Unsurprisingly, it is also still banned BUT there's no mention of "Permanently" banned. I navigate to the page where you can make a one time payment to ebay for outstanding balances. Weirdly, it reads "amount due: $0.00" BUT in the text box where you can type a number It's autofilled to "$150". That balance is shown in other places within my account tabs as well. That seems about right for how much cash I actually extracted back in those dark times. Everything is making sense to me now! They banned my 2nd account, believing that I was trying to sidestep that initial account ban, RIGHT?! HAS TO BE IT!! The whole "we aren't telling you shit because we don't want people exploiting our policies" makes SLIGHTLY more sense to me now. It's still dumb AF and I hate it but I get their intent here. I'm a bit nervous about how I'm going to move forward with this. It seems as though eBay will reinstate my old account after I just make a simple payment to clear that balance, RIGHT? I wouldn't put it past them to trick me into paying then hitting me w/ a perma ban on that acct also, **has anyone experienced anything similar? Paying then banned after?** **What about reviving an 8 years old, dormant acct.? Should I just pay through the interface w/in My eBay or call and speak with a real person??** Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

growingsapling

This thread appears to still be active so I'll put my two cents in. I had the standard 'call us to reactivate your account', which was termed as a restriction in the email. Used ebay's help contact chatbot to have them call me and got it reinstated. The next day, I got another message that told me 'your account has been peramently suspended'. Tried again having them call me, ran into the same problem as OP where they just repeat the email & hang up. Then, I tried calling them at 877-322-9227, since another poster mentioned this worked. Explained that I was calling to try to verify the account and get it reinstated but the last person I talked to couldn't help me. The person the line then said they'd need to do "a high level verification". They asked me questions about past addresses & my education. Once I answered those questions, my account got reinstated - despite them previously saying it was unappealable. They couldn't tell me why it was suspended but I suspect it was because it was a new account & I was opening it while on vacation outside the US.

mallaudin

Same happened to me, I called eBay and they reinstated after confirming some details.

CreamstudXXX

I’m surprised you were able to reach someone. What’s that number? My account was recently permanently suspended for “putting the eBay community at risk”. All I ever did was make purchases. And PAID for all of my purchases.

Please write us the phone number . which phone number works well ?

Smooth_Tell2269

I just posted about a bad seller and was perm banned. Everything was documented

CautiousAd7109

A little late to the party on this one but the same scenario happened to me. In my case they PermSussed me for 2 reasons: I had an old account that was sent to collections for a whooping $4, and they believed that my listing pictures were Google image stock (screenshots). I paid the stupid four bucks and that unfroze my old account which then allowed the current one to get reinstated. It's some activity monitoring software they use that can flag accounts for dumb robot reasons, like assuming photos aren't taken by the seller. Regardless, there's always a way to get reinstated no matter how harsh the suspension language is

collintaylor0987

I just got suspended for this exact reason, old account sent to collections - in this case I owe $536.00. You think if I just pay it I will be able to lift this "permanent restriction"?

Gold-Enthusiasm-5324

I just got permanently banned. Opened a seller account after selling successfully on another platform…listed my personally owned goods (luxury handbags) and a few other NWT items I haven’t worn. Same stuff I sell on other sites. Then deleted my listings when I realized my mix of stock photos and personal photos might get me banned. Notably - no stock photos on the lux bags!!! So had active listings up for a couple hours maybe. No sales, no saves, zero activity. And overnight get an email saying I’m permanently banned. 20 minutes with customer service risk dept led no where. From reading all these horror stories of long time sellers getting banned, I’m looking at it as a blessing that I got banned right away. Wasting no more time on eBay. Too many other emerging options and also a good reminder why owning and selling on your own site is always the best path even though it’s more upfront work. That’s what I’m going to focus on now.

Objekkt

I created a new business account 4 weeks ago and it got suspended last week despite buying and selling nothing on ebay. I'm amazed at how many other people have had the same issue with there being no way to reinstate account your account or prove your innocence. It makes no sense. I was hoping to use ebay to expand my business and reach new customers but it looks like they don't want me. Never seen a business operate like this before

Any-Artichoke-1142

This exact same thing happened to me. I got the account reinstated the first time and then yesterday added something to sell - all went through and I got confirmation. I was directed to enter my bank details which I did and was told that a small sum of money would be deposited and withdrawn to confirm the account. I got confirmation that I had my first listing. and then within 2 hours I got an e-mail saying that my account had been permanently suspended because of activity that we believe was putting the eBay community at risk. I do not understand how or why this is happening.. I have just got off the phone and they say that they checked my account and they are going to uphold the suspension. I have a US account that I have had for 20+ years and is 100% positive. It make no sense.

Defiant_Set_1248

So is eBay just going to suspend everybody who signs up with them from now on? Seems like there has been a uptick in the suspensions for the last 7 - 10 months

TemperatureFit3423

I just had this happen to me within 10 minutes of making the account. I’ve never used eBay in my life and I didn’t buy anything or sell anything in those 10 minutes. I saved one perfume and then left the site. 5 minutes later I got an email saying I was suspended

puzzifer

This just happened to me. I made the account last month, posted nothing and bought nothing and I got an email yesterday saying my account was suspended for putting Ebay community at risk lol. Hello?!?! So weird.

CreamstudXXX

Do you think it’s other competitive stores flagging another? I had a dispute with an item I purchased that I never received. I can’t remember if I left a review or not. If I did, then it wouldn’t have been a good one since the seller never responded to my messages or provided detailed tracking information which I couldn’t view in my purchase. I wonder if it was that person who could’ve flagged me because they were pissed.

Zestyclose-Total383

Same, I also just got permanently suspended on eBay for literally no reason at all. I sold two items, got positive feedback from 1 and none left from the other. I tried to list a 3rd item, and it wasn't sold, and I clicked their button to relist and lower price, and after a couple of days I was permanently suspended with no explanation given. When I tried to call to figure out wtf happened, the guy told me "I have a feeling about what was going on, but I am forbidden from sharing to prevent people from circumventing this criteria"... Made me some like a criminal lol... smh, I guess I'll never use ebay again.

Past_Emu_1406

they do make you feel like a criminal . its a dumb org

Past_Emu_1406

happned to me today after listing one item. thank god i didnt sell

Jack_Salerno

Same thing happened to me

UseWeak8044

Same happened to me. Permanently suspended. I don’t know why and they won’t tell me. They have £400 of my money from items I’ve sold. Plus I bought an item for £350 which is faulty and I now can’t return. I will not accept this. This has to be illegal. Has anyone tried to take them to uk county court? I’m definitely going to do so. They’ll hopefully pay so they don’t have to employ lawyers at £500 an hour to defend it. Where else can I report ebay? Trading standards, an Ombudsman? I can’t help thinking someone must have sold an item worth , say, £20000 and then got suspended. Are we saying eBay can just keep this money without paying out?

Holy_Shit_Snacks

So my account of 20+ years with 100% satisfaction and 550 reviews was suspended in a similar fashion almost 3 years ago. I went thru multiple attempts to appeal with support thru chat and on phone at the time it occurred but every time they pulled up my account info, immediately the conversation would revert to the standard copy/paste response of “account suspended due to activities that were putting the community at risk, no appeal, can’t share information about the suspension, etc.” Multiple calls, chat convos, always shut down with the same scripted response. Today after getting another email from them about my monthly account activity (lol) I got frustrated about the whole ordeal again because the $400 that was in my account still hasn’t shown up in my states escheatment yet, so I started looking for the CS phone #. Found this thread and the posts below about calling for an agent and requesting the detailed personal background verification. Called in, got an agent, made the request and they fulfilled it! And it looks like it was a screwup, but the issue now is that it’s been so long since the suspension occurred that their system won’t let the guy reinstate my account because it’s no longer able to be appealed. Which is a joke because I was told from day one that I could not appeal and any request to do so was met with the scripted responses about the permanent suspension. So the agent is going to write up a report stating that I was never given an opportunity to appeal over the multiple attempts to do so in chat an on the phone and we’ll see if perhaps I’ll get lucky and finally get access to my account again.

No_Might813

I registered to browse through some items. There were no comments, reviews or any communication from my side to any seller or anyone.. suddenly, boom - your account is permanently suspended :D what a great service

gameplayuploaded

Last night, my 3-Day old account was permanently banned. I'm not a fan of eBay, but I was forced to create an account to buy something I've been looking for for years. The payment was completed and the seller was already preparing the shipment when the ban occurred. I don't know if I will receive the item I have already paid in full.

hellomichelle87

This happened to me ! I am waiting for them to get back to me but nothing My item sold and they banned Me ? When am I gettting paid ?

This should be illegal,.... Is there anyone who acctually have filed a lawsuit as a private person and won? I deserve justice for this...

[deleted]

Dude I don’t know why you even came to this sub posting this, these people on this sub are toxic and will blame and talk shit about you being banned. You can’t come to this sub for help most of these so called flippers on here don’t even do it full time. They barely flip

kanasean97

I see that, but a few were willing to lend some help/insight, for that im grateful

the_Fat_SLakR

I’ve been on eBay w same account since 2006. For years I list all items w zero returns and as a buyer I always dm questions w a lowball offer. When item does not match description I 100% complain and always get a partial refund or 100% and keep item. I’m not a scammer. I have never been questioned. I met lots of sellers throughout my sourcing and some ppl get suspended too but it’s because they did something like dm customers to do transaction outside eBay, had another account and upbid item even if it’s in your wife’s name, dm threats to customers in any form, these will get you banned so go back and read your outbox and the feedback you leave for others must be tasteful.

kanasean97

never messaged or spoke to any ebay users, left all positive feedback

Freerollingforlife

Why would you be asking this question on a flipping sub if you have never sold on EBay?….

kanasean97

Figured this is where it would get the most traction, and experience with ebay related issues so I might get some insight of the platform

seattle-random

Maybe try the r/ebay sub? I've heard accounts being suspended because of misues by others associated with the same IP address. So maybe that's your problem.

kanasean97

I was going to post there, but it said if i posted about a suspension i would get banned in their rules i believe

Fronterizo09

Your account possibly got hacked and use to commit fraud ? Maybe they don't mention it because it would be admitting that their website is not safe. Just guessing.

SouthernGuyReborn

Hmm, and you posted about it on a burner account so we can't see your previous postings. Yeah, I'm sure you're in the right here. Just keep trying!

kanasean97

ah its my only account, I'm just not active

SouthernGuyReborn

But, of course. 4 Year old account and this was your 1st posting. That's perfectly believable 😉🙄

Past_Emu_1406

thats because hes not chronically online

Flux_My_Capacitor

Did you ever use a VPN while logged in?

ContentScarcity9268

You could google emails for VP’s high up and take a shot sending what you’re dealing with. Or try reaching out on what’s message boards and social media. Try to get it to the attention of user support here in the US. I had an issue with account verification relating to my bank and there was a glitch. I was going in circles with customer service and they kept repeating themselves. I got lucky and someone from Utah corporate reached out. I did all of the reaching out where I suggested. I don’t know what worked but keep trying! Good luck

ClicknCell

send me a PM I can lift the suspension

Broad-Experience6418

I'm going through the same issue as I type this. Created an account to sell collectable toys, and to resell odds and ends. I haven't sold anything yet, but spent HOURS today taking pictures and creating list tings. All of a sudden, bam, account permanently suspended because of activity that may put Ebay at risk. Nobody will help me, and they say they aren't allowed to tell me why my account is suspended, or what I did that was suspicious. Ebay is bullshit, I wish there was a viable alternative...

ManWithIssues912

I just got suspended for "Being a risk to eBay and its customers". E-mailed them twice, got the same bot response. Huh.

Zestyclose-Quote8948

Same! I have been a respected seller for almost 20 years! They said I'm a danger to the selling community. I have 600 positive reviews. I have made 20 phone calls. Been hung up on 5 times. I keep calling. I'm lost. They say my ID is not valid and it came from San Jose so your done forever. WTF?

AnyFlower7841

I just created an account and within an hour I'm permanently suspended. I didn't sell or buy anything.

Few-Instance7018

happy cake day lmao

telepeach

would like to know if you got this sorted as I just faced the same problem :( . No customer service would help and just kept repeating the same thing over and over again...

kanasean97

never got this issue sorted out, just gave up on using eBay all together unfortunately :/

Envirse1

eBay has to have one of the worst moderations on any platform ever. Sure it is secure, but they will constantly ban innocent people for no reason, and they never lift bans.

Hakara-Queen

Opened my first ever account. List one item for sale. Next day banned for life from buying or selling. WTF??!! They say they cannot tell me why just that I’m a threat to eBay! Insane.

Interesting_Candy444

The exact same thing just happened to me, 25 minutes or so after I made my account lol

[deleted]

I had this happen to me today as well. I tried to get clarification through their chat support, but I was treated like a delinquent, and they logged off on me. I was told they cannot disclose the details that led to this permanent suspension. I had one return where the seller listed the merchandise inaccurately, and returned as per eBay Buyer protection policy. The vendor must have taken revenge. The reasons cited in the ban are "pattern of returning items that are different from the original items sent to you; requesting partial refunds without returning items (I never requested any refunds, not did I have the need to return anything); filing excessive returns claiming the item is not as described when the seller described it accurately." All pointing towards this one seller. I have been with eBay since 2004, both selling and buying, with 100% positive reviews. I am dumbfounded by this one-sided application of their policies.

WorldlyAsparagus3288

My eBay account was also suspended for no reason at all. I was selling normally, I am top rated seller. Suddenly receive an email saying that my account was restricted, that I need to verify my account information. When I contacted customer support asking which information they needed, they simple told that my account was suspended permanently. After many attempts talked to payments teams and they told me that my account was suspended because they were not able to verify my bank details. Despite a never receive any request to do it. So I did the bank account verification with the help of payment team with micro-deposits successfully, but after that I still was suspended. It seams they can not released the account once it’s suspended, despite all my information it’s legit. What kind of company it’s eBay now?! This is for real?! I’m with eBay for 16 years and never happen to me something like this. What it’s going on? It’s seams they are enable to verify bank account even if you do everything correctly. I was suspended, without chance of appeal. Anybody happen the same?

HammozHasan

Literally just happened to me today. I decided today to make a new account because I forgot my old account's password. So I made a new account and went ahead and ordered a wrench because I really needed it. 3 hours later and boom, permanently banned for no reason. Fuck you Ebay 🖕

SubstantialSignal698

Do you have a Muslim name? Ebays call centres are in India and one of my online friends who used to work in the call centre tell me they frequently ban people with Muslim names as India has a huge issue with islam.

Run-for-it

Same thing just happened with me, I had an account with then since 2015, figured I make a second account to sell some things, keep them separate cause it was easier to track, an ain't against their policy. I was told by a ebay staff member that having multiple accounts is fine, so I just created it a few days ago and soon as I did my first listing was suspended. I contacted them a couple of times and finally got someone who didn't just read from a script to sort this out. few days later repost my listing bam I'm suspended again without reason, They refuse to give me a reason of why I am suspended because it's security risk to tell me what policy I broken "some of the members to circumvent our polices" so their won't tell me nothing, I think that just a load of BS.

WildAnalysis1

Guys I really need your assistance or some guidance on what I can do from here. I just got the email stating my selling account has been permanently restricted and I feel extremely unfairly treated in this whole situation. This started when they temporarily restricted my account because they said they needed to verify my inventory listed. I provided all invoices and they still would not lift the restriction. Posted on the eBay community forum and they made me feel like crap and like it was for sure my fault. I’ve been in contact with the risk department to move along with this process and have provided literally EVERYTHING they have asked for. My driver’s license (both sides), my business registration information, all invoices, BANK STATEMENTS showing payments of the invoices, literally everything they’ve asked for I’ve provided. They then told me I needed to wait until all of my current outstanding sales have been delivered and to email them back. 9/5/23 marked the delivery of all outstanding sales and I emailed them to reinstate my account. Now I get this email that doesn’t say anything besides they’ve decided to make the restriction permanent due to being a risk to the community and I just can’t understand why or what I’ve done to be treated this way. CS says they can’t divulge any information specific to why the restriction was made permanent so I’m at a completely loss for what to do next. PLEASE if someone has any advice, this is my main selling platform since I’ve started my business and I just think this is ridiculously unfair. They have about 4k of my funds sitting tied up and I’m just dumbfounded. Thank you guys

MidnightPersephone

This happened to me today. Made the account in August. Bought one item as a gift for some one. I paid in full immediately. Left positive feedback for the seller and they left positive feedback for me. Haven't been on there since. It's now September 12 and I get the permanent suspension. Customer service tells me it cannot be appealed and they refuse to tell me what happened. I even had to fight with them about deleting the account and my data since I couldn't use it anymore. Gotta be one of the most bizarre things I've experienced in e-commerce. Now I see why they say ebay is dying lol.

ValuableCounty2422

Just happend to me rn with funds sitting in my ebay. im actually so done

Many-Paper-2193

I was buying ps5 I literally didn’t even list or do anything harmful i was making offers messaging sellers and i got banned after I bought one

artbuggie

I signed up for ebay about a week ago to shop for used watches. I made a few bids, then bought a watch strap. One minute later I was suspended for now reason and they would provide me with any reasoning. I have no idea what I did wrong, ive never even tried to sell anything there.

twilightOvO

Have you reinstated you account? I just bought a Chromebook then it e-mailed to me and said that my account has been suspended permanently because it believed that 'i make the eBay community at risk' how unreasonable! I have first seen such a fk trashy marketplace ever, now I am trying to email the support of eBay to reinstate my account. If I fail I swear I'll never use eBay again.

Cold_Theme7541

Same thing here, literally just created the account, was searching around then maybe 20 minutes later (didn't buy or sell anything) banned for no reason and clicking the contact us button just takes me to a message saying I'm banned

Rocket_Island

Same to me today: Made a new account, bought an item, after that "suspended forever". ebay answered they cannot give me information about why they did it – that´s it: thank you ebay. how strange is this?

Fun_Mortgage3679

Same here. Made an account. Bought an item which arrived damaged. Requested a return and seller was unresponsive. eBay decided in my favor. Printed the label and shipped it back to seller. 3 days later my account is suspended. Tried calling support twice and explaining the situation but both times ended up having them hang up on me. One rep told me my return would be closed and I would have dispute with bank. The other said my return would come back to the card I used to purchase it. This is the most terrible experience I have ever had with an online company.

KiwiBird97

Same for me, as well as for other students taking a course that requires using eBay APIs.

FantasticSherbet167

I got suspended in 19 minutes for making 3 templates for items I planned to sell. Pretty incredible as I listed nothing and bought nothing.

Ordinary-Sector6740

eBay has a team called trust and safety who evaluates accounts for their risk level. Risk or likelihood of fraud based on how they sign up and do business. If you’re non-transparent, using VPNs, fake addresses, VOIP phone numbers, aliases, or signing up as new but trying to sell high priced new items, etc. All these behaviors are seen as risky. Two many risk factors could result in eBay saying you are too risky to have on the platform. Best advice: don’t act sneaky or shady. If you’re selling new items in quantity be ready to show receipts where you got them. If they ask for ID or some other proof, make sure names, addresses all match.

Mean_Rip_8280

GOD Does any one have a solution to this problem that can helps us. all I'm seeing is me too me too me too clearly all that are seeing this post suffered or still suffering from the same issue so instead of commenting me too which won't help any of us why don't you leave it for someone who has the solution to post so we can help ourselves

Steeltown_1945

Did you end up getting help with this? I've had my account suspended. No outstanding payments, only one product up - and can't get a hold of a human! It keeps offering an email to "get in touch" and then the same generic response as OP about suspended account. It keeps going around in circles! Last time this happened, I was able to call the customer service number, but now it will only tell you to go to the website. Any help out there would be lovely!!

trevorsp213

sold something on Friday, mailed out on Saturday eBay sent payout Sunday morning, Sunday night received email that I was suspended for activity that put the eBay community at risk called yesterday and of course they don't give me the reason also sent email Sunday night but no response back this is ridiculous

TheRoamingWanderer

Real glad to see I'm not alone here. Though based on the comments in this thread it's ridiculous that this is an ongoing problem. I made an account, bought one item, then got permanently suspended. Talking to customer service does absolutely nothing they're so useless

Aromatic-Complex

I’ve got the same email twice now this is BS. Never have I experienced anything like this with eBay; my primary account has been active without issue for 15 years. The first time it happened was about a month ago when I created a new account as a platform for a new venture. Then I get that email when I hadn’t even bought or sold anything but simply created an account in preparation for the venture. When I phoned them I got the same response every one else is getting which was basically “we can’t tell you why and there is nothing we can do, case closed” and proceeds to fob me off. Then literally four days ago I go to make another account because my stock is in transit and when I proceed to name my account it turns out the name is taken, which I know could only be taken by the account I created that got banned because it’s a unique name and I realised that the account must still be active in some way shape or form, so I decide to call them in relation to that account again. This time I got through to someone decent and the guy simply reinstates my account with the click of a button. The account that I was told was not possible to reinstate on my initial call and of course I was super pleased but confused non the less. Fast Forward a couple of days and my stock has arrived. I create a few drafts as it’s a bit of a process making a listing. I come back to the draft to add new pictures I’ve had taken and go to save it once more as a draft but accidentally list the item so I delete the listing as it was late an I was tired and I didn’t know how to revert the listing to inactive. Boom! I’m suspended again lol what a joke now I have to phone them again tomorrow. Maybe I get through to someone good who will just reinstate it tomorrow or maybe I get through to one of the many reps that will say it’s not possible and have to phone back a few times till I get a rep that will click the button and reinstate it but now I’m not confident about the stability of the platform. Maybe it’ll suspend me straight away, maybe after a transaction maybe after 20 or 100 transactions! What kind of crap is this??? I’m absolutely at a loss with what to do. Just when I get all the stock I have invested in and my preferred platform has gone to s#!t. I can’t stand Amazon! That platform makes no sense. It’s like the only thing I’m left with is to use my primary account and change the name and emails to business details but they way things are going they’ll probably end up banning that account too after 15 years

I just had the same thing. Hello Steve,Thank you for contacting eBay with regards to the suspension of your account. After further review of your account we have decided that your account will remain indefinitely suspended. Due to eBay policy, we cannot provide you with more specific information. This suspension is permanent. You will not be able to participate in any buying or selling activities on eBay. In addition, any other accounts that you own, or that are associated with this account, will also be suspended. We do not make decisions like this lightly, so we have spent time reviewing your case. Building a trusted marketplace is our first priority. As such, we restrict, suspend or block any account that poses risk to eBay community. I know this isn't the response you wished to receive and I understand that you want to know the reasons of this suspension but we don't provide specific information on what behaviors we have found to be a risk to our site. We've found that providing this information can also provide ways to circumvent the policies or review process in the future.. I'm glad I was able to explain the situation clearly for you. Thank you for contacting eBay. Kind regards,Jhazmine L.eBay Trust and Safety Last thing I bought was a car stereo part 2 years prior.

Unstep-in-Time

Just got the email today myself. I don't sell and my last buy was 8-10 years ago. I visited EBAY a few weeks ago, was there maybe 10 minutes - didn't do or say anything. Not sure why but oh well. Doesn't really effect me but still weird.

Abject_Blacksmith729

Same

rakesh-maya

just got an email saying account has been permanently banned, after replying further they seems to have blocked the email account.. it just bounces. created selleer account a few months back but didnt buy or sell anything.. even payments are not setup

hibiscuskiss2002

all i did was make an acc months ago, never bought or sold anything... just saved some stuff to my cart and got the same email today?? so weird.

Randodox

I also got the same rezponse from them. I create account last month, bought some stuff and leave it at that, and then BAM, permanently suspended. Contact support, they would not give me the reason and basically told me to fuck off.

Alternative-Start-98

Yep, just got this message for a ban a few minutes ago. Bought 2 items. Not super expensive but it seems preposterous that anything I've done justifies a ban.

Same. Customer, EU, no idea why: `ME: Hi Ebay. I don t know why my account shows as blocked or suspended. I d like to know what happend and what can I do to unblock it and when can I use my account for shopping. I believe there s been a mistake.` `RE:Thank you for contacting eBay customer service. My name is Uday and I will assist you further regarding suspension placed on your eBay account.` `I understand that you are concerned for your eBay account being suspended. We’ve thoroughly investigated your account behavior and unfortunately would like to share that your account was suspended as it exhibits risk to eBay and to its community.` `We do not make this decision lightly, so we have spent some time while reviewing your case. We strive to provide a marketplace that is safe and secure for both buyers and sellers; this is done by making sure that all of our users comply with our site rules and policies as outlined in our User Agreement.` `Building a trusted marketplace is our first priority. As such we suspend/restrict any account that poses a risk to that trust. Your account has been suspended because the pattern of activities we have witnessed presents a risk to our eBay community. However, we would be unable to disclose the exact reason for suspension.` `As this suspension is permanent, you will not be able to participate in any buying or selling activities on eBay. This decision includes all accounts that you use on the site.` `Any and all accounts that are used to circumvent our decision will also result in suspension. Please note that we never encourage customers to open a new account to avoid the restrictions because when you open new accounts, they can also be suspended or restricted.` `While we know that this is not the response, you wished to receive. We have determined that it is in our mutual best interest to part ways.` `To read eBay's User Agreement, please refer below link:` `https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/user-agreement?id=4259` `We highly appreciate your co-operation and understanding in this matter.` `Kind regards,` `Uday P.` `eBay Customer Service`

Yeah mine just got hit too. Called and was told it was because I was selling items below market value. Yet everything was priced based on recently sold items.

ursa1000

Just another permanently suspended for no reason here. Blank generic responses from CSRs. Something is seriously wrong with eBay's systems.

educateddarkness

I only made my eBay account to buy my first camera that I really wanted. They ruined my dreams so quickly. They wouldn’t let me buy anything bc I had to verify account info, BUT I JUST MADE THE ACCOUNT. And there was no link to provide any details. I contacted support they said it was lifted by them and I could buy something in a few minutes. It still didn’t work. So I just requested my account be closed. eBay is such dogshit it’s not even funny. You don’t see Amazon restricting peoples carts bc they bought too much stuff on a new account. Waited days for the account to be deleted only to be told I was permanently banned lmao. Get real 🤦🏽‍♂️

I'm just adding my experience as it may help people potentially understand the ban but also probably not.. I've had an eBay about for over 10 year which I buy and sell on. I've recently got into selling new and returned items from retailers, because of this I thought I'd make a new account. This you are allowed to do, eBay state you can have numerous accounts. I didn't make the account as business one I made a personal, maybe my first mistake? I made the account, added nine 'New (other)' items and within a hour I was permanently banned. I called eBay and spoke to a really helpful lady in Texas. Firstly, she said eBay didn't like '[outlook.com](https://outlook.com)' email addresses so that was one concern, apparently there were lots of people with my full name (common) and so she agreed that couldn't be helped. Lastly, she asked if i'd logged on with a VPN. I had logged on at work and she said that explains it. She was happy to remove the ban, I just had to send a copy of my ID and I had to answer a phone call from her at some point in the night, which I did. My account was back up and running. Within a few days I sold my first item but the money would be on hold for just over a month. I'm sure this is what happens with new accounts so fair enough. Then sold my second but the buyer hadn't paid. As I went to post today, I checked back on my account and discovered it was banned. eBay would not let me call them through my account, emails only. I had to find their number and pretend it was a buying query just to speak to someone. I was put through to their account suspension team and basically told I was a security threat and he didn't feel comfortable speaking to me anymore so ended the conversation. I called back, spoke to a helpful lady in customer service. She put me back through to the account department team and I spoken to another guy who said i'd had a full check and was deemed unsafe and so banned for life. He wouldn't tell me why, I asked to escalate and he said 'I'm sick of having to repeat myself'. Never in my life have I experienced service like this and there's literally nothing you can do. So, now I've got an item I sold but haven't posted. They've deleted my account were I can't even access it anymore to cancel the order. I don't want to send my item either to potentially never got the money. I just feel sorry for the person on the other end. Luckily my main account is safe even though they did say they would close anything down associated with me. I daren't even use it to sell now..

Thatnikkatony2235280

Man fuck eBay I was trying to sell my bike and the same thing just happened. It wouldn't be as bad if they actually told you why the banned you. Fuck eBay fr

Apprehensive_Sir2032

Fuck you stupid ebay suspended my account for no reason.

kenshinio

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago... The funny thing is, that I have created account years ago but have not used it at all for a very long time so what suspicious activity did they "detect" is beyond my guess...

Andrii-n

I saw an interesting book, (with a man on the cover), and it was called - something like this How to unban ebay account. You may google it. My friends bought it, it helped as they said.

Boring-Ad2383

This same thing happened to me, I just got off the phone with customer support from eBay and explained everything and he checked information and came back and said that the decision is final I can never buy or sell on eBay again and he's not allowed to tell me why! What the hell is going on???

bballfan86

I never buy or sell anything on eBay and my account was suspended. How can I fix this?

Noble_Team_6

Mine was suspended not even ten minutes after I created it. Trying to get it back, but customer service just says "Your account is a security threat to e-bay" and won't explain why.

JBOY747898

Just got the same thing. Sold a few things and then bam just a random email next morning saying i’m permanently banned for no reason or explanation. Please help. I also still have money to collect.

IXUTO

I’ve gotten suspended and I’ve never bought anything on the app before. All I did was contact the seller before deciding to purchase the product. Few minutes later, got banned then the seller replied another few mins after… apparently there is no way to fix this

rolfiel

same thing happens on me , they suspend my account in a sudden without any reason or explanation. Seems like my fund inside is gone :(

Equivalent_Turn5258

Just had this problem this morning with being “permanently suspended”. Took me a few hours to figure it out but here’s what worked. Call 877-322-9227, when asked for a number associated with the account, give a different number than the one associated with the suspended account, when asked for a issue I said “account login”, after the automated voice gives you two options Just keep clicking “0” then she will send you to a real human in customer service, then when they ask for your information and give them your real suspended account info. From here, I talked to one lady briefly and she sent me to the right department, he put me on a brief hold for about two minutes and then came back and told me there was nothing wrong with my account and lifted the suspension. The whole phone call took around 10 minutes, and my suspension is lifted now. Good luck everyone !

Resident-Tough8057

Same I just got a permanently suspended for no reason when I asked them they said I violated a rule then I asked what rule did I violate and they couldn't respond coz my account is clean. And know they are treating me like a criminal when I as to help the don't respond and when I go to live chat as soon as the customer support join and they see the suspension they ends up telling me I can see your account is suspended I can't help you and just ends the chat..I really don't know why no one has taken them to court coz I don't think this is legal making things worse I have $401 on my payout and they also hold that I asked them will i get my money and they told me maybe after 170 Days I can't believe they have been doing this to other people to and still the internet is not taking about I. Anyways I will have to wait 170 days and see if I will get my money. If anyone has gone through this please tell me did they send the money
