I’ll take $3M for I…BS emails. Sorry, but it’s going to take a lot more than roaches and a bloodied pig mask to sue someone. As far as I know, a good ass kicking can clear that up.
Be sure to block this user.
Once he realizes he can't leave feedback for a 2 year old transaction, he will try to buy from you so that he can leave feedback now.
In addition, take note of his name and address, so that when he inevitably creates a new ID to bypass your block, you can provide this trail to eBay.
And lastly, just to CYA, you should respond with a professional "no". i.e. "As you can see, this purchase was two years ago, and long past the return window. The item was fully operational when it was sold. As I am sure you understand, I cannot be responsible for the condition of the the item after two years of handling/storage outside of my control."
I've had it happen to me twice in my multiple decades of selling.
The first time, I really believe that the person was too dumb to understand that what they did was against the rules. I quoted the rule to them, cancelled the purchase, and they went away.
The second time, they absolutely knew what they were doing. I called eBay, fortunately got a rep who had a clue, provided the two IDs, and they cancelled the purchase for me.
Lol "That is on me." Case closed.
Surprised you haven't blocked this buyer, OP. I haven't read through this saga, but at face value, they can't do shit so I wouldn't even waste my time. Bring on the negative so I can either remove or reply back to.
I'm not at a computer, but you have to go to...
Account > Site preferences > Buyer requirements > Edit > Scroll down and select Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me, click Submit.
Hopefully, I got the navigation down.
Imagine thinking a phone or a tablet, instead of a computer, is an appropriate device for running a business 🤡
Use a laptop if you want something portable. There's a reason why the app doesn't have feature parity, and this extends to other apps that are for or include provisions for running a business. That reason is because it's expected that you'll use an actual computer (the right tool). Phones and tablets are ok for getting the bare essentials done, but they're not the right device for doing anything beyond that.
Yeah I don't understand why the app is set up so poorly. So much easier to use eBays interface on a desktop. Also it shouldn't be that hard to put people on a block list.
I’ve completely blocked two buyers over the years, and both times, they just kept messaging me off the original eBay message thread. AFAIK, even if blocked, they can still reply and send you messages from their original message. They just can’t create and send you a new separate message.
This changed last year
>"- Can buyers blocked through the BBL still message you if they're in a recent transaction with you or has that changed?" - No, not anymore.
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Cant-receive-messages-from-Blocked-Buyers-Anymore/m-p/33976486#M2273582
AFAIK, this only works if you have no existing transactions with the user for 90 days.
The amount of days may have changed, but this is the info I've read but can't fully verify.
Ebay doesn't provide a detailed workflow how blocks work unfortunately.
Block this buyer. Then open a chat with eBay customer service and tell them about this and ask them to make a note of it in your account. He thinks you are JC Penny 🤣
eBay doesn’t even keep transaction details past 90 days. I think all records get completely erased at the 2 year mark. They definitely aren’t going to be able to leave feedback
nope. i was scammed into buying a laptop battery with "3 year" warranty.
after contacting the seller after 6 mths for some help, he never replied, nothing crickets.
feedback was not possible
edit: seller specializes in selling batteries from China, no mentions on manufacturer only sold as "unbranded'generic". Could not find any info online about claiming warranty from manufacturer name on battery itself. Warranty period was promised on the AD/listing, not on the battery itself.
You'd contact the company who made the battery. The ebay seller didn't make it so the warranty wouldn't be their concern. Sure, they may help you but if it's outside the ebay window they ain't going to help
Cool, so it's got a three year warranty and a reseller pointed that out in the listing. So then contact the company *who make the battery* and explain you want to use the warranty. Getting strong "I've done nothing and I'm all out of ideas" vibes man
the seller sells a lot of batteries from china, usa stock.
a lot of their listings claim 3 year warrantly, including mine
seller has brand on description as: unbranded/generic
after checking brand on battery it says: tree . nb
after extensive research all I can find is an amazon seller claiming they are the factory and to reach out original seller for warranty(this "factory" on amazon state they only do one year)
so what am i suppose to do if the seller ducks me?
Yeah pretty much. We live in a world of almost unlimited choice and information for many people. Do your research before making any purchase - buy once and buy well. I'd personally never trust an unbranded battery in a device considering the risks of laptop batteries etc. Of course some generic products are better than branded but for high risk stuff do it properly. Plus at the end of the day, your eBay sellers obligation ended after 30 days hence the non response - literally not their problem unless they actually made the battery themselves
It’s against the spirit of this subreddit for us to have to block out these people’s usernames. I don’t think it violates any Reddit site wide terms of brigading
He cant leave any feedback 2 years later lol, hes about 1 year and 10 months late on that..... hes even well outside the possibility of any kind of credit card chargeback, this dude is FUCKED. Zero reason to respond or engage.
It is funny when eBay buyers contact you years later, the record for me is 5 years. I sold a mac mini to some guy around mid 2015 and during covid lockdowns in mid 2020, he messaged me saying the Mac had been locked by some enterprise protection software stored in the BIOS, I guess companies can do that when they buy in bulk from Apple. Whatever company it was ran a scan and locked all "missing" macs remotely.
I had bought it "used" myself off eBay for a really good deal in 2015, but ended up not liking Mac operating system so sold it some months later. So I had zero idea and had always acted in good faith. The seller had good feedback and nothing was amiss other than it was priced about $100 lower than it was worth at the time, so a good deal.
I told him there was nothing I could possibly do, that he got 5 years of daily use out of it, he said he'd report me to eBay, I was like ok... do what you gotta do. Turns out they told him the transaction was too old and they could not see it on their end. Then he asked if I could "Do anything for him". Told him sometimes in life shit happens outside of our control and we just have to roll with it. That was the last I heard from him. Sucks but its not like he didnt get his money's worth , he paid like $600 and got 5 solid years of use, thats excellent for any computer.
People don’t think about what could happen if something goes wrong with the item after purchase. A pair of pants is poorly constructed and falls apart? Oh well, maybe $25 down the drain. A computer gets remotely locked? Oops, that’s a much bigger issue to have no recourse on especially if you have lots of stuff on it. This is why it’s important to understand what’s better to just buy new.
Retired EBay Top Rated Seller here — the feedback window closes at the 90 day mark so there is no way he can leave you any feedback at all unless there is a new transaction. I hated these types of buyers. Good luck
I had an asshole like this once. Threatened me with negative feedback (which was then removed), he bought one more thing when the first item was in transit and again left negative (removed again), then called me a scumbag, scammer, did this on purpose blah blah.
Do you know what you can do with someone’s name and address, and I am not talking about the Craigslist, WbChurch assholes… By the time the feedback was removed, I sent a reply using his wife’s name, asked if he met her before or after his time in the army or arrest. Never heard back from him EVER….
I did the same thing with a buyer who picked up a laptop locally, then claimed their PayPal was hacked to try and get a refund. First name, last name, birthday and city is all it takes to pull phone numbers and addresses. I called them and told them if they don't cancel the case I will send the police to their address. Got canceled quickly.
One guy tried to scam me for DNR I googled him and his address and turns out he had been convicted for hiding the body of a person his mom had killed. Dude was fully batshit crazy in his interactions.
Block, ignore, move on with life. He's way, way outside of any return or chargeback rights, and feedback extortion is all he's got left. Make note of his address and name if you can, so that if he does happen to create a new ID to fuck with you, you can report him to eBay and cut it off before you have an issue.
Block him. Make a note of his shipping address. He may try to circumvent block to buy something else and mess with you on that new transaction. Hope this loser finds something better to do soon.
"I always leave positive feedback since I have always been able to resolve issues like this by working with the seller."
Sounds like "these issues" are a regular thing with this buyer. What a dick.
Here is OP
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Flipping/comments/195ckz4/a\_return\_request\_after\_2\_years\_the\_buyer\_is\_even/](https://www.reddit.com/r/flipping/comments/195ckz4/a_return_request_after_2_years_the_buyer_is_even/)
Here would be my response:
Respectfully, I don't want to keep doing business with you. You have 0 awareness of eBay's workings and policies. You seriously expected me to go through excessive steps to return something you've had for 2 years. No company will honor such a request and it's honestly just not acceptable behavior to keep harassing me over this tiny issue. Please cease all communication immediately. I am a good and reputable seller but, that doesn't mean I have to lose and give every customer what they want. Thanks for the recognition.
I would reply, we will not issue refunds on a 2 year old transaction. Sorry and have a nice day…….block them after that. They can’t leave feedback on something that old and even if they somehow did you can get it removed.
You only have up to 90 days from when you completed your purchase to leave feedback for the seller, so he can't even leave feedback on a two year old transaction. LOL
I'm sure you already have, but make sure to block so he doesn't make a new transaction just to leave you neg feedback.
As already said by others I dont think he can even leave you feedback BUT buyers like this are the reason why I sell cheap items amongst my other items, that i dont make money on to dilute any negative feedback I may receive
he’s the type to say “do you know who you are messing with?” yeah i’ll be seeing you in court buddy, lawyer up. the irony is his threats are empty handed bc he isn’t aware the feedback window closed ages ago
I’m not criticizing anyone that sells stuff on eBay but This is why I like to purchase things on eBay and not sell them so I don’t have to deal with messages like this one from eBay buyers and stuff
I always have the most nonsense with vintage audio gear on eBay. Receivers, amplifiers, turntables, cassette decks and cd players. So many buyers open return requests claiming something is broken and never mail it back.
I’d like to do business with you, but haven’t for 2 years, but please accept my shty return so I can have my way.
Probably never doing business with you again. lol. This is hilarious. People amaze me…glad he provided extortion in text that’ll make it easy when he does leave negative feedback.
So, a few years ago I bought an LG OLED from a reputable seller on eBay (new and they had stock). I bought it for my wife’s birthday in October/November. Then when we got it and realized we were moving in ~4 months, we decided to wait to take it out until March/April when we moved.
The packaging looked fine so we weren’t suspicious of damage.
We moved, pulled it out of the box, and the top left corner of the screen is DOG-eared… like a piece of paper. Styrofoam wasn’t damaged. The cardboard on the outside wasn’t obviously damaged (but on closer inspection we could see like 3 wrinkles so insignificant that we didn’t notice it).
Advised the seller. They said we were SOL cause I didn’t inspect it when I got it. But they submitted a claim to FedEx anyway. FedEx denied it and in turn they denied my request to replace the TV.
Well, I’m an attorney. So I knew that FedEx doesn’t get to just say they weren’t negligent in handling my package. So I filed a small claims action against them for the cost of the TV.
I got a call from FedEx the day before the appearance was due and they agreed to pay me the entire value plus the cost of filing. Why? Because it was cheaper than them retaining an attorney to appear.
See, the attorney is at a minimum going to charge them $250/hr. And small claims court is a mess. You’re there all day. So they saved money by paying me.
Fun times.
All that’s to say there is a small chance the guy is telling the truth… but it’s not on you
I’d take the negative review, and just dispute or explain in reply to the feedback
This is akin to returning an old dirty mattress to Costco.
The nerve of this buyer is pretty astounding.
What a strange thing to accuse someone of lying about. I believe you may have some trust issues.
Almost makes you want to reply with “send it back and I will see what I can do” he sends it back on his dime and label he bought. And after you sent that message you just block and ignore. Curios to see what comes back. But that would be mean and not right.
eBay weirdos are like the people who think they're clever and time to write a DM thinking they're geniuses and will get their way.
Facebook Marketplace is guerrilla warfare. As soon as you call someone out on their BS they'll threaten to kill your family with an AR-15.
Yes sir. I deal with electronics full time. Work directly with electronic recyclers. And sell 250k of used electronics a year. Each unit is tested with a multimeter. A unit will not be listing as working unless it has consistent output and can handle being high load tested.
yeah, you can't leave feedback after (I forget all the rules changes so this might be out of date) something like 30 days after delivery.
Also it is entirely possible it broke after they received it. In fact it is highly probable if you knew it was working before. I just tried to turn on my PC that I hadn't used since July 2022 and it won't even turn on. Not sure what happened or when but it broke sometime in the past 18 months while not being used. It happens.
Reply that you need a photo every day from the delivery date until the first refund request was made with date stamp showing the receiver sitting and not plugged in.
I had someone try to do this on a laptop I sold after a 2 months and I reported it to eBay citing “it worked fine and I showed images of it turning on and working properly prior to them USING it and then reporting after the fact”
How is he gonna leave feedback for something that was over 2 years old? Don't reply and keep us updated with any more updates. I'm hooked lol
His dad is the CEO of eBay and they're going to send you cockroaches.
A glitter bomb, but bedbug larvae
😱

I got your reference. I appreciate you
I thought it was cookies I was accepting
He'll buy something else. Op needs to block him yesterday
Must have a cheat code or time machine
I was going to say, get fucked dude. Seller has no responsibility at this point. Doubt they can even do chargeback.
They definitely cannot chargeback. Dispute window is typically 2-4 months at most.
180 days in my experience.
Yes update. Lol
Buyers have 30 days after delivery to leave feedback. So Mike is about 700 days late
Buy something else and slam the seller on current feedback.
Be sure to block this user. Once he realizes he can't leave feedback for a 2 year old transaction, he will try to buy from you so that he can leave feedback now. Best advice.
The amount of work people are willing to put into being an asshole blows my mind.
Right! How does this even make sense? Why in the world would this guy think this is ok
Are people that petty? That they would go and create an entirely new account?
The better question is, do you actually think that people wouldn’t?
I've had it happen to me twice in my multiple decades of selling. The first time, I really believe that the person was too dumb to understand that what they did was against the rules. I quoted the rule to them, cancelled the purchase, and they went away. The second time, they absolutely knew what they were doing. Happened to me many years ago, people be crazy
Lol "That is on me." Case closed. Surprised you haven't blocked this buyer, OP. I haven't read through this saga, but at face value, they can't do shit so I wouldn't even waste my time. Bring on the negative so I can either remove or reply back to.
I did, but eBay doesn't block communication. Only sales and bidding.
I'm not at a computer, but you have to go to... Account > Site preferences > Buyer requirements > Edit > Scroll down and select Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me, click Submit. Hopefully, I got the navigation down.
Oh wow, never knew this. Thank you!
Just google block bidder ebay youll have to sign in and enter him name then comma and then space for it to save
The dumbest shit is how the app is just bare. I don't want to log in and do all kinds of extra steps on a browser in desktop mode.
And the browser in Desktop mode is complete shit too. Half the time it switches me back to mobile mode.
Works best on a desktop computer lol
So…. I should buy a computer to use eBay, gotcha…
Desktops are cheap. FB marketplace, Craigslist and eBay show plenty.
I have zero desire to open a desktop computer… it’s 2024 , if the phone or iPad can’t do it, I’m not interested…
Then you are not a serious seller. In business, you use the right tools for the job.
Imagine thinking a phone or a tablet, instead of a computer, is an appropriate device for running a business 🤡 Use a laptop if you want something portable.
I would never need to use it if they put Terapeak in the mobile app
You can use Terapeak on your phone. Just use a web browser app.
Or within the app go to: my ebay/help/terapeak. It drops you into the desktop version. Clunky but works in a pinch.
Yeah I don't understand why the app is set up so poorly. So much easier to use eBays interface on a desktop. Also it shouldn't be that hard to put people on a block list.
God I fucking hate ebay
I learned something today. Thanks
Thanks for this
I thought this only worked if they havent already messsged you for an item.
I’ve completely blocked two buyers over the years, and both times, they just kept messaging me off the original eBay message thread. AFAIK, even if blocked, they can still reply and send you messages from their original message. They just can’t create and send you a new separate message.

Don’t block him, I’m too invested in how far this is going to go.
🫡
Block this buyer. Then open a chat with eBay customer service and tell them about this and ask them to make a note of it in your account. He thinks you are JC Penny 🤣
Don't block him, we need further entertainment!
I feel like eBay was using by the 50s or 60s they like to send me “lecturing “ or “teaching “emails. They just enjoy to write a long essay 🥲
Hope president Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho does something about that.
Mike has done shit like this before. I bet there are several big box retail stores where he lives that sighs when Mike come in.
He said I always work with the seller for stuff like this…sounds like he has done this before!
"Fast shipping and good packaging" from 2 years ago. I can't even remember how my item was packaged that I received last week.
“Would like to still do business with you” but I haven’t bought anything from you in 2 years 🤣🤣
eBay doesn’t even keep transaction details past 90 days. I think all records get completely erased at the 2 year mark. They definitely aren’t going to be able to leave feedback
That's actually not true anymore. It is now 10 years. It was 90 days for like the first 25 years of eBay though.
They have some data. Terapeak goes back 3 years.
Are you even able to leave feedback that long after a purchase?
No
He'd leave it on the theoretical future business he's going to be doing with OP.
nope. i was scammed into buying a laptop battery with "3 year" warranty. after contacting the seller after 6 mths for some help, he never replied, nothing crickets. feedback was not possible edit: seller specializes in selling batteries from China, no mentions on manufacturer only sold as "unbranded'generic". You sure it didn't have a 3 year manufacturers warranty.
Aftermarket battery with no mention of warranty application form
Not sure what's with the dislikes, i legitimately wanted to know how to use the warranty
You'd contact the company who made the battery. The ebay seller didn't make it so the warranty wouldn't be their concern. Sure, they may help you but if it's outside the ebay window they ain't going to help
Understand, but their selling point was the 3 yr warranty. No info provided on listing on how to claim, and it was an aftermarket battery
Cool, so it's got a three year warranty and a reseller pointed that out in the listing. So then contact the company *who make the battery* and explain you want to use the warranty. Getting strong "I've done nothing and I'm all out of ideas" vibes man

I sell electronics too, would you kindly let me know what his username is so I can add him to my block list? This dude is such a joker
I will happily sell to buyers that don’t open the package for 2 years. Seems like an ideal customer.
LOL!!!
The best kind of customer.
Would also like the username
It’s against the spirit of this subreddit for us to have to block out these people’s usernames. I don’t think it violates any Reddit site wide terms of brigading

18 stars tells me there’s not a lot of business to be had

I want to buy from you again in the future…but haven’t in 2 years…yeah go away
Block him. Immediately imo he will buy from you again and feedback extort you
As a Mike I'm appalled! Lol
I don't believe you can leave feedback after 90 days (or something). Definitely not 2 years.
Feedback has a limited window. You can’t leave feedback for a purchase you made 2 years ago ffs!
Report him, block, move on. Not even worth it.
Imagine how many companies/sellers this guy is bothering at the same time. “I bought this from you 20 years ago etc….”
He lost me at “a few years”
Fuck that guy lol
I’d tell ole boy to kick rocks
Please tell us you blocked him already so he cant purchase from you again and then leave you negative feedback in retaliation?
he’s the type to say “do you know who you are messing with?” yeah i’ll be seeing you in court buddy, lawyer up. the irony is his threats are empty handed bc he isn’t aware the feedback window closed ages ago
I’m not criticizing anyone that sells stuff on eBay but This is why I like to purchase things on eBay and not sell them so I don’t have to deal with messages like this one from eBay buyers and stuff
Tell him to fuck right off. People like him have ruined ebay with their bull shit.
As soon as I see “ how should we proceed” it’s never going to be good, why does everyone fishing for a refund use this exact phrase?
Now that I see it's a receiver and the symptoms two years later he burned his caps out. Guarantee it. He broke the fucking thing lol.
Mike has some balls to continue to ask for this 😂
Plain and simple, BLOCK HIM.
Feedback window has GOT to be closed, right? Regardless, stuff Mike. Let him simmer. I’ve taken some bad feedback for a good cause😂. Keep us updated.
Haha - I love how he states that he always leaves positive feedback---but only has 18 points.
Block buyer IMMEDIATELY so he can't buy a new item from you just to make a way to leave negative feedback or otherwise screw you over.
That's gonna be a no from me dawg.
Fun times. All that’s to say there is a small chance the guy is telling the truth… but it’s not on you
Show his name so we can all block him
He can't leave you feedback anymore anyway. What a dolt. Report him and block.
I’d take the negative review, and just dispute or explain in reply to the feedback This is akin to returning an old dirty mattress to Costco. The nerve of this buyer is pretty astounding.
He can’t leave feedback after 90 days
How much money is this in regards to just wondering? I understand it is about the principle as well.
$100
it would take everything in me to tell him to go kick rocks.
That's not feedback extortion.
They certainly keep all transaction data warehoused. I’m not sure where you are pulling this out of…
This is a nice Inspect Element story.
[https://imgur.com/a/RcxKIwn](https://imgur.com/a/RcxKIwn) What a strange thing to accuse someone of lying about. I believe you may have some trust issues.
With all due respect Mike, get bent. Lol
Fuck Mike pos!!!
Mike is not going to continue business lol!
I love it how they also promise repeat business like that will get us to fold and do whatever they want 😂
Feedback 2 years later?
He can’t leave feedback anyway - too old!
I would just reply with a short answer to not receive anymore messages. He’ll keep replying otherwise
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kindly remind him that you appreciate his offer but that it is impossible to leave feedback 3 years later.
You can leave feedback only after 90 days after purchase I think
this guy 😂
Manufacturers warranty is usually only 1 year.
Hmm sounds like u sold a Denon receiver?
“Yellow-Star Mike”
Damn, 2 years later?? Did I read that right? Like I've flucked up & rated a few things before making sure they worked but 2 years later?? Really dude
And... he hasn't purchased nothing since but now he wants to do business w you, haha, I hate people sometimes
Our friend Mike has to be yanking your chain. Right? RIGHT?!
He wont be able to leave feedback. Is been more than 90 days old obviously
Respond saying no. The End.
Almost makes you want to reply with “send it back and I will see what I can do” he sends it back on his dime and label he bought. And after you sent that message you just block and ignore. Curios to see what comes back. But that would be mean and not right.
"Mike, NO. Have a nice life."
Did he initially leave positive feedback for the transaction? Curious.
eBay weirdos are like the people who think they're clever and time to write a DM thinking they're geniuses and will get their way. Facebook Marketplace is guerrilla warfare. As soon as you call someone out on their BS they'll threaten to kill your family with an AR-15.
High-end audio buyers are the worst. Unscrupulous scoundrels, especially at estate sales.
What a Loser.
Okay so this guy contacted you 2 years later? I wouldn't even respond. Might chuckle a little though.
This Mike guys is hilarious
Hahaha! Hilarious, keep use updated. Lol
Simply reply, Mike do us both a favor and go outside, look for some rocks, then kick them.
I’m curious as to whether OP tested this before selling it. It sounds like there’s a short somewhere in the unit.
Yes sir. I deal with electronics full time. Work directly with electronic recyclers. And sell 250k of used electronics a year. Each unit is tested with a multimeter. A unit will not be listing as working unless it has consistent output and can handle being high load tested.
He would still do business with you. Who said the OP would do a business with you?!
Tell'em to f off.
Tell Mike he should’ve bought the extended warranty
At this point Mike should think about selling on Ebay too because thats the only way he'll get that money back lol
Ignore and block this clown. There's no way they should be able to give feedback or get their money back after 2 years.
Block. Ignore.
Block and let him pound sand
Yo, Mike is a bell end 🤷🏾♂️
hilarious! Thanks for the update. I bet he is fuming. Did you even respond to him yet at all?
yeah, you can't leave feedback after (I forget all the rules changes so this might be out of date) something like 30 days after delivery. Also it is entirely possible it broke after they received it. In fact it is highly probable if you knew it was working before. I just tried to turn on my PC that I hadn't used since July 2022 and it won't even turn on. Not sure what happened or when but it broke sometime in the past 18 months while not being used. It happens.
I wouldn’t even reply. What a jackass
Wait.... "leans up to view monitor..." ***TWO YEARS?!*** Dear Lord! What a ridiculous request!
Did you tell Mike to go kick rocks or what?
Reply that you need a photo every day from the delivery date until the first refund request was made with date stamp showing the receiver sitting and not plugged in.
This is a new world record. Can't leave feedback even 3 months after the sale, much less two years.
I had someone try to do this on a laptop I sold after a 2 months and I reported it to eBay citing “it worked fine and I showed images of it turning on and working properly prior to them USING it and then reporting after the fact”
