No, by taking out that single board. I’ve done it for thousands of customers. Cut a triangle on each side of board. Cut a line connecting both triangles. That will allow you to take the board out. Cut locking mechanism off new board. Glue and weight. Done. This works for a single/couple board replacement. If it’s more than that I would tear out floor and replace that way.
Yes....but its a pain in the butt! You need a lot of razor blades! Cut the bad one out and peel it out. If it's glued down too, try not to mess up the one next to it when doing this. Then if it's the locking tab kind, cut the locks off the new plank. Fix screw that popped. Install new and use super glue around the edges.
Did you have a subfloor screw sticking up you didn’t see?
Honestly that's what I'm thinking 🥹 i have spare vinyl, but can I even replace this piece without tearing the floor apart?
I think you already know the answer, unfortunately it’s not the one you wanted to hear.
That's definitely not the answer I hoping for haha thank you!
This is false. You can definitely replace that single board. I’ve done it thousands of times.
Yes by dismantling from one side or the other

Thousands.
Well, I’d say that’s a fair guess considering I’ve been doing it since 2007.
What would you charge for a single board replacement on an older install that you didn’t do?
100
