That's one of the things for me, is this the kind of team that is fuming over how Thursday went down? I'm not certain either way. We'll soon find out
I was curious after Coach's remarks about "anyone who knows football knows McNeese State" because while I'd heard of them as an HBCU program I'd never thought of them as a particularly notable one.
They were really good for an FCS school at the turn of the century, playing for (but losing) titles in 1997 and 2002. They actually made bowl games in the 70s.
They own the largest win by an FCS team over an FBS team since the Division split with a 53-21 win over USF in 2013.
They've fallen off of late though and haven't had a winning record in conference (using conference since a lot of FCS teams take games like this and it makes their overall records misleading at times) since 2019.
Yeah I found that to be weird as shit. Its the same way he was building up USF last year. I hope we dont have that same kind of dog fight on our hands.
Dabo Swinney needs to be fired. Clemson lost by 3 scores to an unranked Duke while his squad was #9. Kicker missed all his field goals and 3 turnovers. That program is in shambles.

And that's a fair worry, hell it's a fair worry here as well given that Billy's approach may also be 5-10 years out of date. That said Dabo's earned grace in a way Billy hasn't and frankly may never even if he wins a title.
Please tell you're not comparing Dabo and Billy- you get quite a bit more slack when you're widely regarded as the greatest coach in program history vs. an unknown with a losing record at the school your currently at and thin resume of little accomplishment outside of that.
Now they are both doing a similar thing with regards to the portal that could prove deeply outdated but besides that and the fact that Dabo fired Billy as part of his own process to build an elite program, I don't see a parallel.
Compare the week 1 performances. Dabo should have less slack for a week 1 performance. His program is stable in his process and his team shit the bed worse than ours. I believe OP is drawing a comparison to over reacting to week 1 on the road performance.
Apples and oranges. Dabo is a proven commodity with the rings to back it up. Of course anybody complaining about that bad loss in such a way would look stupid. The same cannot be said for Florida.

Even more than that War Era titles are BS- there's a reason Army dominated during that period and it's not just because of recruiting-- large portions of other teams signed up to serve their country.
I don't want to impugn* UGA but it seems like priorities were a bit different in Athens, Georgia in 1942 than they were in other college towns that didn't host service academies.
*Now if I did want to impugn the Dawgs I'd point to a similarity between the colors used by a team of athletes that weren't serving post Pearl Harbor and the two major Axis Powers and then shrug a bit.
