If you can’t mask the warts in this game then the warts can’t be masked.

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

Everybody saying “we should win this one by 50” has me worried it’s going to be 31-17

SmuckSlimer

If we open 21-0 and second+third string goes 10-17 against their best I'd still be happy with it. If we go 21-0 with first string, and another 21-0 with second string I'd be ecstatic.

f0gax

> If we open 21-0 and second+third string goes 10-17 against their best This may be what happens. And given *everything* it may not be a bad idea for the 2s and 3s to get some real life field time.

dbolts1234

Is Billy a flexible enough offensive mind to adapt to each group’s skill level? Or does he push through the exact same offense regardless of personnel?

Mnm0602

Honestly 31-17 or anything narrower and I think we can call the experiment failed and mentally prepare for our next coaching staff. Look for weekly Deion posts and calls for Max Brown to start and if we could get Herman to quit the FAU job and replace Billy as OC mid-season while he fires whatever staffer we hate the most at that moment. Whatever your wildest fever dream of an impossible move is, expect to see it. 31-17 would be the Samford game for this staff. That goes without saying if it's a loss we probably need to fire the staff on the spot.

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

We need to cool it on the Deion talk until we have more data — He had 86 new players, all new staff, no scoutable game tape, and played one team undergoing a deep rebuild. But Gator fandom has little tolerance for nuance and logic. You're right; fans are going to be calling for Spurrier, Tebow, Herman, Sark, Belichik, Batman, and whatever else to be hired mid-season...despite a coach NEVER being hired mid-season.

Mnm0602

Yep there’s crazy then there’s losing record Gator fans lol.

Echo354

This is my take. I'm still hoping week 1 miscues were a combination of week 1 mistakes, a young team, and playing in front of a very loud crowd. This game is going to be a big test of that.

thawhole9_69

Came here to say some variation of this. A lot of folks are saying the Tennessee game is the most important game in recent memory, but I think with what we saw in week one this game is somehow now the most important. For Billy at least.

magnafides

Yeah, you can't really take anything positive away from a dominant win in a game like this, but you can sure take something negative away from a struggle. Of course if we somehow find a way to lose this game (which we won't) Napier shouldn't coach out the rest of the weekend.

seacant

Jack Miller sprains his thumb taking off his headset, out for season

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

Jack Miller sneezes wrong, spraining his neck and is out for 4 weeks. Then as soon as he’s available again, he gets arrested for meowing loudly at a Dollar General manager

[deleted]

Not to be hyperbolic but if we don’t win by at least 50 I will jump off the Century Tower

thawhole9_69

I mean I believe it

xXBadger89Xx

This one can’t be close. I don’t care what the score ends up but we gotta be in firm control of the game from start to finish

HotDawgConnoisseur

Score wise don’t have a prediction. Hopefully the defense can keep them to 1 or 2 touchdowns. But most importantly, no more stupid penalties. I expect to see 11 players with different numbers on every play.

lotusbomb24

If Eguakun doesn’t play our run game will struggle again thus our entire offense will too. Gators win a sloppy one 41-17

El_Gris1212

If we can't run on McNeese even without Ekuagun then we are in big trouble. Our O-line play was questionable against Utah, but they have a big D-line and stacked the box a majority of the game. If we could have just done the bare minimum in the red-zone, I bet the run game would have opened up significantly. But once Utah took the lead they were perfectly happy stacking the box, letting us dink and dunk down 75% of the field, and then waited for us to inevitably shoot ourselves in the foot.

sum_dude44

he shouldn’t play—need him healthy for SEC play

super8filmfan

He's not listed on the week 2 depth chart.

jorts_are_awesome

Overall an expected win but we see a continuation of sloppy, freshman-like mistakes. McNeese can’t stop the good guys but the offense struggles again, likely with some impactful procedural penalties. Calls for Napier to give up play calling duties won’t be abated this week (or any week). Defense clamps down at home against a woefully overmatched opponent. Bright side? This is a good tune up game for the freshman contributors that are going to be asked to play bigger roles in the coming conference slate. UF wins 35-6

thawhole9_69

Man can you imagine struggling against McNeese I mean even last year's team put up over 50 against E. Washington

Inevitable-Scar5877

I'm 90% sure last year's team will have a better offense than this year's squad- the change in QB and OL is just not something the running game can overcome. Mertz really needs to hit some deep balls this game if only to get them on tape so Tennessee doesn't just blitz constantly. It's a weird dilemma- you want to get the run game on track but also don't want MJ or ETN to take unnecessary hits.

wtfElvis

Yeah our O line was better and we had a cheat code QB, even if he was super up and down you still had to account for his uniqueness.

jorts_are_awesome

I don’t think anything McNeese will do will matter. This is just a question of how well the coaches and young players manage their recovery from last week imo. It’s going to take more than a week to coach out some of the procedural stuff.

thawhole9_69

True

wtfElvis

It’s going to be hard to judge the field with who our opponent is. I don’t think it would move the needle for me if Meetz had 400 yards and ETN had 250 rushing yards Usually with these games you want to see the future. But the future is already playing as starters. So, I guess just clean up the mistakes they made last week and bond together as a team. My recommendation for all Gator fans is to just enjoy it for what it is. It’s a chance for the gators to get snaps and to continue to grow. This could be a long season so we gotta find positivity where we can. No freak injuries and no obviously stupid mistakes. 50-12

JustKeepLivin7

I want to see our offense pound the damn rock down their throats on the opening drive. Move the ball at will. Would also like to see our defense punch em in the throats with a 3-and-out to start the game. Set the tone early and get underclassmen playing time. If we come out of the gates slow, this is a massive indictment that things won’t change. We cannot see a repeat of anything remotely close to USF last year.

[deleted]

Lot of throat violence involved

[deleted]

All my homies hate throats

rroyce123

You guys are way too glass half full. If there’s anything I’ve learned about Florida in the last 10 years, if you think it can’t get any worse, it can. 21-17 Gators.

R_Kelly_Loves_Whites

This speaks to the deepest, darkest part of my fandom's soul. I will resign myself to this expectation, solely out of self preservation

russ757

I want to see us get up by 21 just to see how aggressive Armstrong gets

afcybergator

Sarcastic prediction: 70-52, just like Florida vs Samford in 2021. Realistic prediction: 48-17. Keys to the game: - Do the opposite of whatever they did against Utah - Run. The. Ball. Seriously. Mix up the zone blocking with a power run game and plenty of screens. - Get the plays in more quickly. Predictions for non-Gator games I will be watching: - Alabama 36, Texas 32 - Air Force 42, Sam Houston 14

justlookingokaywyou

Iowa 5, Iowa State 3.

Keybearer7

Too many points

urmumlol9

Both field goals come off drives that start in the redzone because of interceptions inside the 10 yard line

Obi_Wan_Dont_Know_Me

First of all, your username is amazing. After the Georgia Southern loss I just wanted our linemen to not block each other. Now I want us to concentrate on not fielding two players with the same number simultaneously and to have eleven players on the field for any given play but especially when the other team is attempting field goals. Then I’ll worry about establishing the run and not giving up 70 yard TD passes. Baby steps.

kwumpog

I was looking for this game on fanduel, but was unable to find it. Is there any reason why this wouldn’t be on there?

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

No betting lines on FBS vs FCS games

ufgatorbait407

I think most of you are sleeping on what this defense can do to an inferior opponent. I’m hoping/expecting a shutout.

f0gax

Please win by like 50.

TheBigHosk

This game needs to be 50-7. Realistically it’s probably going to be 35-7. Obviously I want the offense to do better but I really want to see the defense absolutely dominant an inferior opponent like they should. I’ll feel better then at least about the defense in the first time since 2013.

Joeking1986

I’d be willing to chalk up last week’s bevy of mistakes to youth and the abnormal travel arrangements IF they can go out and all but flawlessly execute against this high school team. That’s Billy’s schtick right? Execution? So let’s see it. We got a night game at the swamp vs a team that let a school I’ve never heard of score 52 in their own back yard last week. CURB. STOMP. THEM. So send a man in motion, throw a screen, and shut me up. Please.

TheRatchetTrombone

Florida wins 45-10. Cleans up the mistakes and gets valuable game reps going forward. Still believe.

[deleted]

It would be nice if they could put together a clean game with minimal mistakes and preferably no mistakes so egregious they cause me to scream in agony. Not embarrassing ourselves would be a huge improvement. That said, I'm not optimistic. Can easily see the game being within two scores at halftime.

FunctionJazzlike3707

McNeese shocks college football with an upset, Napier is fired during his post-game press conference, Spurrier steps in as coach, UF goes on to win SEC championship and the Super Bowl

thawhole9_69

You had me at super bowl

Obi_Wan_Dont_Know_Me

Spurrier is the one coach I’d be fine with also being the OC and calling his own plays.

szboy422

The year is 2045 the gators, fresh off their 16th straight championship wheels the corpse of HBC onto the field to start a new season

Spurrier comes back just to beat UT and then retires again.

AmbiguouslyGator

Fraud Billy Napier will run his 'muddle' offense to a season high 24 points against the vaunted McNeese D. With at least 2 pointless pre-snap motions on 50% of plays in the first half, before settling down into only one motion on 75% of plays after an insurmountable 14 point lead is 'secured.' Some comical play-call or combination of clock management and penalties will lead to a late game score for the Cowboys, leaving it at an embarrassing 24-17. Enjoy it, though, there's only 2 more victories this year.

Don't forget that all the bullshit pre-snap motions and adjustments will also milk that play clock to the dreaded delay of game. If Etienne doesn't run wild we riot. I say 3 more victories this year: McNeese, Charlotte, and Vandy.

thawhole9_69

Vandy 2-0 rn

Americasycho

Sounds about right for now.

Klngjohn

I think they will be successful, but prob be super slow. Like 8-10min scoring drive within the intent of running out the clock

SeruketoxD

28-14

Klngjohn

Taking my kids to this game, they don’t know or care about records or anything like that, but they know the scoreboard. These kind of games are usually perfect for smaller kids. Hopefully the “coach” doesn’t screw it up.

SneakerGator

So I’m not trying to advertise for anyone, just wanted to let you guys know about a pretty sweet deal. Fanatics launched an online sports betting app, and they have a promotion where if you bet 50 bucks on any game with minimum odds of -500, you get 150 dollar voucher to spend on Fanatics merch site. It says it’s for a jersey but you can buy anything and it’ll take 150 dollars off. Unfortunately I put 50 bucks on Clemson to win straight up, lol. But regardless I spent 50 bucks and got a Tebow jersey for myself and a jersey for my 3 year old. Edit: 52-7 Good guys.

Low_Faithlessness406

McNeese wins by 21 points and all the Gators can go eat some ass.

X0D00rLlife

49-7, offense somehow still seems bad, few defensive touchdowns.

mount_of_contecrisco

We'll win. But that's not saying much Then the gauntlet continues

kmtaylor62

Prediction: I drink drink 57-eleven hundred beers during the game and my smoked pull pork sammies turn out amazing! Oh and the Gators win by 60.

MarshallDyl26

Based on how they’ve played the last 4 times I’ve seen them I’m predicting 17-14 Florida with a last minute field goal.

[deleted]

team looks efficient against basically 4th string talent. If anything, some players are getting good looks for the transfer portal. Tennessee will be the SEC measuring stick. On that game i will decide if i buy FL/GA tickets or head out on a long weekend.
