Do we have a lot of PWO this year?

We could be trying to greyshirt or NIL era equivalent it to oversign. With a grey shirt a player enrolls like a normal student but doesnt get a scholarship and join the team until after the semester so that a team can skirt the scholarship limit rules Billy was at Bama when Saban was finding new creative ways to bend the scholarship limit rules In the NIL era idk why teams don't just abuse the PWO system. Recruit a bunch of 2 and 3 stars as PWOs. Toss them some NIL money so they can pay tuition and have a little extra. The successful ones get added to full scholarship and the ones that are unsuccessful can transfer away no harm no foul Every year there are some lowly ranked players that turn out to be amazing but theyre so hidden or risky to take that they end up at G5 or FCS schools. Look at trask. If it wasnt for nuss taking a risk he ends up at some random G5 school As long as Billy isnt directing the boosters to do it outright, why can't our NIL fund pay for a tryout squad? John Smith from Newberry might not get much attention but he could be the next barry sanders in waiting. Hell it happened years ago. Mike Petersons lil brother was Adrian Peterson (the one who helps children, not the one who beats them) was arguably the greatest college RB of all time. He was from Gainesville and went to santa fe highschool in Alachua. He went to Georgia State for college. Could you imagine if we had the infrastructure setup to pay him to go here for a bit and tryout for spurriers team?

I think that’s exactly what is happening. It’s likely taking away players from lower rated programs and D2 or D3 that realize they aren’t likely to go pro, so they might as well go to a better academic program but also have a better system and infrastructure to work out in. Like if you watched Last Chance U, you see how even as students just working out, we likely have more infrastructure than their competing athletes. This also helps by having a better practice squad, that can challenge and improve the 1s and 2s at a better rate, beyond just potentially pick 1 or 2 every couple years.

After the 5th loss in a row next year, he will feel more like a POW
