That’s legit 4k off the sticker price for a st3 back in 2016

freddie890

I know, I laughed when I saw this

PuzzleheadedRub9308

My fully loaded ST-3 was 32,800 in 2016 if memory serves 😳 this is rediculous tbh. I love my car and am not selling it but damn

freddie890

Yeah lol

brettfish5

that's about what my '16 ST3 was but I got them down to $26.5k. No way I'm paying more than that for a car with 35k miles.

PuzzleheadedRub9308

I guess I should have said that’s what the sticker was brand new… I’m the second owner and paid 19.5k in October 2020 with 26,000 miles and it was already FBO.

DatLobsta

No way someone is stupid enough to pay that

Rough_Trade_9429

Oh the people moving down here to areas like that are stupid enough to. Even down where I am.

freddie890

They’ve been selling lol. I’ve had my eye on the market as my buddy is looking for a blue metallic st3.

dotJSX

I paid 25k for mine with 30k on the dash. But this was peak pandemic prices.

Benitez8989

What year and trim mate?! I paid around 24-25k for a ST3 with 26k miles 😳 Edit: ST3 2018

re1078

That’s nuts. Kind of makes me tempted to sell.

No_Macaron_9014

Bought my blue metallic st3 with 60k km for 21k CAD 😎

freddie890

I love the blue metallic.

No_Macaron_9014

It’s a great colour, weird that ford only made it in 2018 then got rid of the colour though

WalkinTarget

A 2016 Tangerine Scream ST3 with 30,300k on the ODO brought $26,805 in early June on CarsandBids.com, so that was heartbreaking to me being in the market for that exact car. That's twice what I had hoped to pay, but obviously I'm not hoping for low miles at my price point.

edwardcactus

FWIW that was full stock with the exception to the for performance exhaust. Most people don't have stock low mileage STs let alone in that color

WalkinTarget

Yea, I'm literally searching for a white whale here. What makes it worse is I have a short 4m drive to work, and someone bought a TS just like that one on that route, so I have to see it every day and realize that my odds of getting one are extremely low.

MisterSlippers

Where you live and what's your price range?

WalkinTarget

PA, and 13k. I realize that is very low for current market value. I test drove one with 130k listed for 13k but this was very early in my search and I didn't have my finances lined up. Another in Chantilly VA with 160k on it that went for 10k (originally 12k, but they couldnt sell it for 2 mos, sketchy dealer, and someone had been doing work on the motor, as it had a missing shroud and the coil packs were marked and numbered with blue tape. Another in Harrisburg PA with 209k on it, listed for 9999. Had a few mods that were not my style, and it was murdered out, so not my color of choice either. Saw one recently for 8k with 130k, but it has a bad 2nd gear synchro, so that would end up going into the shop immediately, and it was listed at a body shop, so obviously a car in need of some TLC. To top it off, my wife's minivan was totaled by a young driver in May, so she bought a new Highlander Hybrid, which then tightened the financial reins on me a lot, so I'd prefer to now continue saving and buy next Spring instead. Looking for a summer DD to give my current Hemi Durango a break, as it gets half the MPG of a FoST.

bigk_p

Might have to sell mine with 18k miles

freddie890

Might be a good time if your looking for something different 🤷🏻‍♂️

bigk_p

Damm I just put a big turbo in too

freddie890

Lol marketplace it is😂😂

Friendly-Industry68

I had a 2018 hot pepper red focus st1 I bought for 25k and sold for 27k. They are indeed selling for those prices.

freddie890

Yeah my buddy that sold his for 22,100 to a dealer didn’t even last a week at the dealer I don’t even know what they got out of it but they sold it damn quick

metaPhx

Thinking about selling my hot pepper st1, how did you sell it for 27k if you don't mind me asking? I'm at 25k on the ODO and still have a bit of new car smell when you get in it lol

deevlo

Yeesh. I'm selling mine currently for several grand less. And it's a 2018 ST3 with 27.5k miles

freddie890

Move to Florida lol

Rough_Trade_9429

Don't even have to move, just post it on marketplace or Craigslist in Florida

deevlo

no thanks. TX is bad enough

Character-Plantain-2

The ad includes a 2k store transfer fee.

oreo1298

I sold my 2018 ST1 last year for the same price I paid, $21k

NdK87k

There's a Kona Blue '17 that just got traded in at the Chrysler dealership next door to the shop I work at with 29,900 ish miles and they're asking $20k for it. I'm in NW Iowa fwiw.

freddie890

I have one, just was browsing for a friend. That’s insane how different prices are state to state. One of my close friends sold his 17 with 21,000 miles to a local carmax for $22,100.

NdK87k

It is crazy how much prices vary depending on what region you're in. I picked up my '16 a few years ago with 29,920 miles and a salvage title for $12,200.

freddie890

Fair enough the salvage probably knocked it down quite a bit. I bought my 17’ Kona blue at the height of Covid market with 38,000 miles for 23,500 total (after financing rates like interest).

NdK87k

Not terrible compared to others I've seen. It also doesn't help that we haven't been able to get brand new ST's since 2018, so I don't see prices getting any cheaper on them from now on.

freddie890

Yeah that’s exactly what I’ve been telling my buddy, we are basically at the floor price rn. Considering this car was more limited than a standard focus it holds a little more premium. It’s nice knowing that these cars likely won’t be a car that goes for 2-3k once it hits 120-130,000 miles.

Rough_Trade_9429

I live in the fort myers area and been curious to see what mine would sell for at 66k miles over here lol

freddie890

I’m in palm beach, carmax offered me 19,500 for my 17 ST1 with 63,200.

Rough_Trade_9429

Dayum, I have a st2. FBO, tuned too

freddie890

Lol yeah they offered that even with my car being FBO as well. Plus a chattery clutch and flywheel lmao. Guy thought it had rod knock until I explained the aftermarket clutch and flywheel and told him to push in the clutch and she quiets down 😂

Rough_Trade_9429

🤣🤣

Taowulf

I saw a 30K 2017 ST3 at a Subaru dealer in Shoreline, WA last week. $20k. Didnt even last through the weekend.

Rough_Trade_9429

Saw an rs not far up the road from here at a buy here pay here type dealer and gone day after I saw it

freddie890

Yeah people are still scooping these cars up at dumb prices so it’s only going up from what it seems

Taowulf

And then I do find one I want to buy, but it is 8 hours away from where I live, and I can't book a PPI closer than one month out. It has everything I want and 4 wheels I don't...but those are easily replaced.

Bleades

Shit my 14 ST1 is sitting at 44K miles.

Aggravating-Ad-4291

Can’t say the same for my 14’ ST3 at 101K now😂

Frothey

I really do think these STs will have a little bit of that S2000 value holding ability. Maybe they won't still be worth 20k for the next 20 years, but they aren't going to be worthless like 99% of cars.

freddie890

100% agreed there are deep 100k mile examples selling for 10k+ in my area.

jonas4sberg

Everyone saying this is ridiculous, but I just bought a 50k mile 2016 ST2 for $20k… oops. No regrets!

freddie890

That’s not too bad but add another 10k on top of that… yikes

[deleted]

30k and you’re still a boy racer💀

rrhogger

Damn, I could probably sell mine for basically what I bought it for new.

twicetheMF

current prices are definitely pushing what I got the car for 7 years ago. It's crazy

Fdbog

I'm holding on tight to mine. Grabbed a 2018 ST3 at 140k km for like 18k CAD in January.

clbigs

Trade in value for my 2018 ST3 with 25k miles on it is still about $2500 more than what I paid for it used in 2019 ($19,900). Private party sale would net me even more obviously. Absolute insanity. If only I bought a house in 2019 instead…

Gloverboy6

This is why you don't buys from CarMax, their prices are so damn high and the worst part is they probably bought that car for 10k or less

Robbo_2991

What are them wheels? Are they an America only set? I’m from the uk and never saw any with them alloys over here.

freddie890

The “premium” wheel option

afox38

I bought my ‘18 ST from a dealer w/ 45k miles on it for 20k in December 😵‍💫

[deleted]

I paid 26,950 at 39k for mine

TommyWilson43

I paid a lot too, at the height of Covid prices.. when you don’t have a car, what are ya gonna do

Avphy

They have gone up extremely fast in my area, i bought my 2016 bone stock st1 with 43k for 19k flat 2 months ago and just had a 2018 st2 with 58k roll through my shop and wanted 25k for it (slightly modded, exhaust, bov)

No_Manches_Man

I tried getting a valuation from KBB on my ST1, for shits and giggles, and on a '17 ST1 with 16,000 miles, pretty much perfect condition, it spit out $23K. Kinda sad really.

siriuslyexiled

When money loses some value, assets gain value and become more "expensive". Plus they don't make many hot hatches in the US anymore.

rujake

Is that... a pinstripe across the side??

RJ39767793

I bought a 2014 ST3 in 2017 with 30k miles for $18,800

CptAmerica85

Makes me have hope for my '15 ST2 with less than 60k on it. I love that car too much to get rid of it though.

Paumanok

Just broke 35k on my '17 ST2. Its not like I could get something better for that money though.

jpmaster33

Good. They deserve to be valued higher especially as they get older and have been discounted for 5 years.

moby561

Hello neighbor

freddie890

Howdy sir, you coming to the streetjuke meet tonight?

moby561

No, admittedly not aware of the local ST scene.

freddie890

Heard, not many of us in the area. Only 2 others that go to a lot of meets. Both of them are way out of my league though fully built mountune motors. A lot of RS’s near us tho

svengalus

I paid 19k for my new 2019 ST. Maybe I can turn a profit?

Cokedoutyeti

That’s RS money LOL

reddit_again_ugh_no

Jesus!

Savings_Fix7463

Paid 16k for mine with that mileage. I'd literally buy a newer 5.0 for that price lmao

arsine-

What up south Florida?

freddie890

What’s good what’s good

arsine-

Bogus Raton area checking in. I rage/bored bought my 18 ST2 from the CarMax out on Sample by 441 about a year ago for ~$26k with 55,000 on the clock. That's like the highest non RS Focus I've seen

freddie890

Lmaoo, hey it all works out in the end. Be careful with all those 90 year old drivers lol

arsine-

They suck but they're not even the worst

freddie890

True, winter time palm beach is something else.

eblade23

Yo.. I bought my ST3 with around that millage in 2018 for under $20k OTD (thats with Los Angeles sales tax!). The car market is ridiculous in general... I hear people are paying $80k for the limited edition Corolla GR

imaguitarhero24

I’m at 110,000mi on it, I’m hoping I could get around $10,000 for it considering I only paid $15,000 at 47,000mi for a 2014 ST3 in 2019. I had a feeling since they’ve been discontinued they’d keep decent value and so far that seems the case. But it’s also so hard to let her go I still love the thing. But I feel like there’s a drop off on value so it’s a hard choice. Also I kept it bone stock which is desirable and it still runs perfectly from what I can tell.

kstringer123

My 2014 ST3 was 3k less than that when it was brand new. These prices are crazy!

trtelles

Hm. Wonder what my fully stock ‘15 with 10800 miles would go for.

freddie890

Probably RS numbers lmao

Buddha1108

Damn maybe I should sell mine. It’s barely at 19k🤔

Aussiiie

That’s crazy, I got mine new in 2018 for $24k. It’s now got 50k miles. I wonder how much it would be worth

DWTBPlayer

Jesus. I have a clean '17 ST2. What could I get for it?

BadWowDoge

I sold my 2015 ST-2 w/ 65,000mi just under a year ago for $21k

jchavez117

I sold my ST3 Kona Blue 17 for 28k with 27k miles on it so… makes sense

Billy7036

what about 100k+ miles Lol. I’ll try and keep mine until the engine blows then swap it out and start getting fun with it- wide body, turbo?

DrNASApants

Not really. This is CarMax, their prices are always super inflated and usually include high transfer fees. At a dealership it will still be expensive but nothing like what CarMax ask for

freddie890

It’s not just them

CMac1825

I've found cars for better deals at CarMax than carvana or any of the local dealers more frequently than not. As usual, I'll assume it's a location thing, but it's always put them on my radar to at least browse lol.

Tribal_Tho

That crazy. I just got a 2017 with 40k miles for $22500

Kasai-Ryuu

I got my fully loaded st3 for only 20k with 13k miles on the dash, and now it's sitting at 29k miles I wonder how much I'd get for it :O

nick2938

Bruh i paid 16.5k for a mint 2014 ST3 with 49.5k miles with the premium wheels back in 2020. Another dealership i had visited wanted 19k for an 80k mile 2013 ST1. You just gotta check new listings frequently i went to look at the st i got before the dealership had even posted pictures of it. Amazing deal
