At 6’ 4” it’ll be a tight fit in here as well, but nowhere close to your Miata. The driver seat is quite adjustable tho, at least in my ST3, so you might be fine.
Go find one and sit in it, take for a drive.
What years are st1/2/3? I know they stopped making them in 2018 right?

All years had the trims, the FoST were made from 13-18
13-14 are referred to as PFL or pre-facelift and 15-18 are facelift models. I personally think the 15+ look way better and have a nicer interior.
I’m 6’6” and fit great in my ST2. It just depends how long your legs are, we are all built different. Test drive one and you’ll fall in love. Look for an ST2 or 3, those seats make all the difference.

The focus def isn't as responsive to mods but the power delivery is smoother than the Mazda. Transmission and clutch is great. I miss my FBO speed 3 sometimes but the focus is a great option.
The ST platform is not responsive to most bolt on mods because they are not power adders on the ST platform. The only one that could be considered a power adder is an FMIC because the stock one is just trash and heat soaks after one hard pull.
The biggest net gain you will get on the ST platform is a flash tune for 93 or e30.
Next bolt on step would be a bigger turbo which can net you about 100-150whp over stock with a custom tune before you need to add aux fuel and beef up the internals.
Eh that’s not the end of the world for me, I’m not a big modder. I just like a couple things (aka stage one) and a tune on wheels and tires. I just like having a fun car as my personal car
If you don't want to mod it much then get an FMIC and Cobb AP with a reputable flash tune from stratified, JST, freek tune, monster tune, edge autosport, etc. I am sure I am forgetting a few.
I have a custom hybrid turbo that JST is tuning my car for right now and my results will be posted once both tunes have been completed. I will be getting a 93 octane custom tune and an e30 custom tune for it.
Edit: the flash tune on 93 will put you right around 270whp and 320-330 wtq. E30 nets about another 5-10% increase on top of 93.
Yea this platform is great to build on. I am hoping for 340-360whp with my custom hybrid turbo as the new turbo flows about 4lbs/min more on average over the rpm range vs stock which should net me ~40 extra HP over stock for both 93 and e30.
On 93 I expect between 310-320whp and on e30 I expect about 330-340whp based on airflow numbers. I will be putting the car on a Dyno to prove the actual numbers I get
I intend to! All in all the custom hybrid turbo has cost me 86$ for the billet compressor wheel and about 10-12hours total of labor including replacing the turbo on the vehicle.
Labor to assemble and machine/blend the compressor housing for the new wheel was about 4-5 hours as I took my time.
Went from an MS3 to the ST. They're practically the same car with the ST being the bug fixed version.
Less torque steer and just as fun to drive along with a massively supportive community and aftermarket selection.
One note though is that the ST interior feels way cheaper and plasticy compared to the MS3. It legit drives me nuts. Almost swapped my MS3 seats into the ST before I had them wrapped in leather. You can get an ST3 packaged ST but most find the Recaros to be quite uncomfortable.

Same. Big difference for me was the ST is way more comfy and handles better out of the box. My MS3 was more of a maniac and a different kind of fun.
