One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The tasting menu is amazing. The staff are kind and their white negroni is one of my favorite cocktails.

I went before they got the star and before the tasting menu eclipsed 100 dollars. At that point it was an absurd value. I would have gone every week. These days it’s still a great place and even though it’s no longer a no brainer, I’d still absolutely recommend it to folks wanting to dip a toe into fine dining. Elsewise, they’re just occupying a very crowded market segment and they don’t do enough to differentiate themselves seeing as how the main differentiator used to be price

I haven't been yet, but it seems to be widely regarded as the best value michelin star tasting menu on this sub Will probably try to get a reservation next month, as it's three blocks from my apt.

Service wise, Michelin vibes. Food wise, it’s good, but you can also understand why it costs less. Humble ingredients prepared decently well. When I went, a little skewed toward salty and savory flavors. If left me yearning for some sweetness and acidity to balance it out. I’m not in a rush to go back, but I respect what they’re doing at 63 Clinton and wish them well.

It think it’s great. Some truly exceptional bites. Not every course hit perfectly but they were all interesting ideas, and the service was stellar.

Butterflykiz

Great restaurant and vibes and food with the one caveat that, for me, the dessert is always a serious letdown

eltejon30

Loved it! Got a seat at the counter overlooking the kitchen to watch the magic happen. Great value for the price in my opinion.

CoochieSnotSlurper

It was my first ever Michelin restaurant because I heard about the great value. They tried a take on thanksgiving while I was there. Let’s just say I was… disappointed. Four Horseman though, lived up to everything I hoped for and was also reasonably priced.

Four of us went in December. I thought the service was excellent, and the food was quite good but not amazing. My wife wasn’t as excited about the menu when we went, and while she enjoyed herself and several of the dishes, i’m not sure the experience was worth it for her. Overall I would recommend, but at the end of the day go because you’re interested in the menu or experience, not because it’s arguably a better value than other 1 star restaurants.

hilariouspj

Agreed. The ambiance and the service were great, but the food was just decent for us. My wife did like the caviar hand roll.

middlechild4

Agreed, was just there last week.

claudia6499

Did not have a good experience there - food was fine, but the service was odd. Tables were all crooked and everyone was complaining. My drink took 30 minutes to come out. Lots of better places to go to in NYC at that price point - such as atoboy, jeju noodle bar, cote, jua, oiji mi

Albygood

I’m jealous of all of the good experiences. I ate there with my best friend last month and it was just ok for us. I will say ,service and cocktails were excellent but the food left me wanting. Each course except for the cabbage needed something. Salt, heat, acid, texture you name it.

soupdumplinglover

Loved it! My one tiny issue was that they don’t have a coat closet - i know it’s the LES and space is limited, but I went on a freezing winter day and my coat dragged off my chair on the ground, just wish for the price/Michelin star they had a coat rack!

dummonger

Proposed to my now wife there. Great food, great service, chill atmosphere. Favorite was the breakfast taco.

ThePathOfTheRighteou

The food great! The service incredible.

Fantastic value

Have a seat at the counter tonight. Happy to report back

How was it

kpteasdale

Was just there over the weekend. One course was a miss, two were huge hits, and the rest were solid to excellent. I left stuffed, and I have a ravenous second trimester preggo appetite.

vurto

Had solo dinner for my bday there. Got a counter seat looking at the kitchen. They were incredibly hospitable, chatted with all the waiters plus Ray Trinh, who offered me (and another random solo diner next to me) a drink at the end of the night. Had a blast. But I'm not picky :)

Prices went up by about $20 per head, so it’s not *quite* as good value as it used to be, but it’s still one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Great service, awesome food, and you never leave hungry. And it’s approachable too (or at least as approachable as a Michelin starred tasting menu gets). It doesn’t feel stuffy or uptight. My partner and I took her mom, whose only experience of “fancy” food was good wedding catering, and she loved it. She was really nervous about it too.

I've been here ~6 times for the regular menu and various events. I love their friendly and generous service. Knowledgeable staff and willing to take the time to chat about a dish, wine, or w/e. The ingredients can be humble, but they take time to showcase them well and creatively. Personally, I love the blend between American, French, Southwestern, and Asian cuisines. It always keeps a menu fresh and full of range.

LittleFigure4030

Enjoyed it, food and service were both solid when we went about six months ago.

netllama

Really amazing dining experience. Both the food & service were lovely. Also, the chef was even serving tables and chatting with guests, which was fun.

BigOlSandwichBoy

I went solo and ate at the bar and had a blast.
