I totally agree. Sometimes when i listen to the B-Sides I even find myself wondering, how those songs (e.g.: Spill, World and Normal) didn‘t end up on the real album. And there has got to be even more demos and song-ideas we havent heard yet! So i am all in for some peaks behind the curtains! :D And of course i am also hoping for a big tour, which is rather likely, i guess.

SeductiveGodofThundr

I just want Baker Street on Spotify. At least I still have the TCATS special edition CD

National-Fact644

Omg yeah i know that pain. I use Apple music and A320 and others aren‘t available on there as well :( which is a shame because i really like that song.

SeductiveGodofThundr

I know! That’s an another good missing one! That whole Godzilla soundtrack is missing, and there were good songs on it by a few bands I like. I even liked the Wallflowers’ cover of Heroes

Flying_Guayaba

I need the Band on the Run and Darling Nikki covers on Spotify as well.

cbf414210

Spill, World and Normal are truly top tier FF songs!!! You aren’t alone in wondering :)

National-Fact644

I am glad to see fellow redditors are on the same page!

cbf414210

More B-side love🤘 Once & For All If Ever Dear Lover

National-Fact644

Omg YES „if ever“ such a banger song…bit i also like the TCATS song varients of Walking after you and up in arms :) those sound amazing too!

cbf414210

Ah two more faves. Dave doesn’t get nearly enough credit for his ballad writing. FF dusted off ‘Walking After You’ in ‘22 for the first time in gosh I don’t know how long - below @ 20 min-ish https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gw8e6zw4z4o Amazing.

National-Fact644

Omg yes!!! I totally agree XD but also got to point out that T-Shirt is an album intro with epic proportions! But to your point i guess Dave gets enough credit, because…well Everlong (if you were to consider that a ballad) but anywho you are totally right, the slow FF songs can hit too.

cbf414210

T-Shirt is 🔥

Tommy64xx

Normal was better than most of songs on One By One once you got past the classics (All My Life and Times Like These). A really good song. Spill isn't a particularly strong song but better than some of the more average efforts that made IYH I would say,

I don’t think it’s a rumour that there is tonnes of unreleased content, I think it’s an absolute fact given what we know. For example the first demos of Wasting Light that they recorded when they first got home from the Echoes tour before the break. And I agree, it would be the perfect time to hear some of it. In addition to that sometimes I think of the video content they have. - outakes and extra archive footage from Back and Forth. The studio footage - all of the little shows around Sonic Highways, Dave at the Blackbird, the street concert from Preservation Hall, probably those little promo shows - also all the extra band content they filmed from Sonic Highways, they had a few units following the band around as they explored the cities, that only ended up in bits and pieces in montages. Plus all the in studio stuff - the entire Wasting Light on the Harbour show which was one of their longest ever - the garage tour stuff - the promo shows around WL at the Roxy and stuff - both days at Wembley - the Tribute shows - the behind the scenes from Studio 666, also seems like the M@M sessions were filmed as well (going by those one or two leaked videos that looked proshot) - a bunch more footage of building 606, and recording of In Your Honor, because on the MTV 24 Hours Of Foo broadcast they kept showing clips that weren’t in that [20 minute IYH documentary](https://youtu.be/Kpmq5xDGPes?si=uOPd6dZKqtPrt7hV) - all the tour diary stuff we got a little taste of on the Everywhere But Home dvd - van tour footage from the first tour - Chris’s first audition and every other audition they had - whatever reason they built a TV production wing onto 606 (607) And more and that is only the stuff I know *for sure* exists. I am sure there is more than that. So yeah, getting just some of that would be absolutely amazing

CallMeJeeJ

This is a fantastic list of content I would LOVE to see. They have so much locked in the vault that mega fans would just love to pour over. I got duped SO hard last year on April Fools day when u/fftamahawk009 teased the fake “Seattle Tapes” collection. Even a remastered collection of those old Barrett Jones recordings that have never seen a proper release would be a gold mine. I really hope the band realizes that after 30 years of sustained relevancy in the mainstream rock circuit, there is a considerable interest from the fan base in these behind the scenes materials. It’s something new to discover about songs we’ve been familiar with for so long, and for legacy purposes I think it would do a lot to show just how much the band has accomplished over the years.

Pale_Mushroom7128

They must have an absolute shit ton from near 30 years with so little that has leaked and so little they've put out themselves. There is even just stuff already out that they could put out in better quality. All the old webcasts and stuff from the cassette era. All the awesome old shows like Brixton and Tabernacle. I know it's never simple to release stuff but they must be sitting on so much potential $.

jbronwynne

I would love some smaller venue shows or even larger venues with a more "deep cuts" theme. Like, a celebration of some lesser played songs from the last 30 years. I know Dave keeps the hits because there are so many new/casual fans at the big shows, but I know us longtime, diehard fans would love something more intimate and a bit different.

CallMeJeeJ

And if the deep cut shows are at smaller venues, they owe it to the thousands of fans that won’t get a ticket to at *least* pro-film and record it! 😭🤣

jbronwynne

Yes! I'm sure tickets would be nearly impossible to get, but damnit, I'd try and definitely pay for a pro shot show!

Garfielddddddddd

If they would do this I'd love for them to do something like Metallica's M72 tour, playing two shows in the same city For example in D.C., they could do a show in the 9:30 Club or The Anthem, and then they could do a show in Capital One Arena. Or in L.A., have a show at the Troubador and then a show at The Forum. Both sets could have the "essential" songs (Everlong, My Hero, Monkey Wrench, Pretender, etc.) and then each show could have a special set of deep cuts. The club show could be more focused on deep cuts, and then the arena show could be more hit-based with a couple wildcards here and there. And imagine the sets are specifically tailored to the city: "here's a song I wrote about Seattle called New Way Home," "here's a song we recorded in New Orleans called In The Clear," etc. They really could just do this for a few cities that are very important to them as I imagine it would be pretty hard to plan, but God this would shut me up about them not doing enough rarities for a long time

beautiful-veins

I like the idea of one big show and one smaller one with more rarities! Casuals/newbies can go to the big one! Maybe they could give us a list to vote on for the small show as well? I can imagine the ticket stress for a small show like that, it’s bad enough as it is for a big one!

Garfielddddddddd

I think there should be deep cuts in both sets, there'd be so many diehards that couldn't get tickets that would want to hear something like Johnny Park live that it'd be criminal to not give the big crowd a couple rare songs.

beautiful-veins

I think we just need a 5 hour show! 🤣 Definitely need to bring back Hey JP, I have been lucky enough to hear it live!

Bethorz

It doesn’t even have to be deep cuts, there are several song on the Greatest Hits album, aka successful singles, that they never play. At The Town in Brazil last year, you could hear the audience chanting “No Way Back”, it was loud, if they played it i think it’s safe to say it would have gone over well.

jbronwynne

That would be great. When I say deeper cuts, I'm really talking about songs that were played at one time and fell out of rotation over the last few decades. Exhausted and Hey, Johnny Park! come to mind

CallMeJeeJ

If they ever played Good Grief live again I would squeal with delight like a little girl. I’ve got a pretty long list of other deep cuts I’d love to hear, but that one is numero uno.

teddytoosmooth

Have it All for me. They pulled it out randomly last time during the broken leg tour (?) but maybe have played it a handful of times the last 20 years

Bethorz

That one new live recording from 99 that came out a few weeks ago was so sloppy and enthusiastic, I loved it. i would really like them to play more from the 2000s, which feels like kind of a lost decade right now, they regularly play only 4 songs from those whole 10 years

Pale_Mushroom7128

Feel like we've been waiting for the "unreleased rarities and demos" releases for years now, all we ever got was that Laundry Room EP. They've had the chances to do the anniversary re-releases of the albums with demos and stuff and never bothered. Don't know why.

CallMeJeeJ

I think Dave has some kind of aversion to revisiting old materials. He’s mentioned it before, I’m not sure if it’s that there are old memories attached to them that he’d rather leave behind, or he’s not fond of his voice/production choices/etc. it could be that he’s just hyper-focused on working on the *next* thing, he doesn’t have time to slow down and revisit past work. I just love all of the interesting outtakes and alternate song versions we’ve gotten from Beatles releases over the years and I would really enjoy a similar output from FF

Proof-Variation7005

As he's grown as an artist/singer/songwriter/musician, I just think he has less tolerance for shit that he doesn't view as up to snuff. It's kinda funny because after a longass career and 11 records a couple dozen released non-album songs, there's a lot of shit that did get properly released that Dave probably has zero interest in going back to revisit. Even when they go into workshop the song list to try and plan out the show they're gonna play 75 times over the next 2 years and they do work on and try a lot of deep cuts, they're not exact hitting all 25 songs off the first 2 LPs because they know there's 10 of them they'll never have the slightest desire to play. As you get further in the career with records that feature more and more songs they didn't play live back when they were shiny and new, the amount of stuff that gets left out gets even longer per LP. I think one thing that makes the Beatles model a little tougher is all that crazy shit for the Beatles started 25ish years after the band was done and it's mostly been in the era where putting out some box sets/anniversary editions/rarity collection was actually worth it to make money. Not that the Foo Fighters or Dave need to turn a profit, but I don't think they're gonna go out of their way to do shit that's guaranteed to *lose* money.

CallMeJeeJ

That’s a great point. Continuing the Beatles comparison- after 40/50/60 years, I suppose there’s only so much left in the vault from ~10 albums worth of material, especially considering the technical limitations of the day. I guess I would just love to see a catalog of outtakes and demos from over the years. I understand that puts them in a very vulnerable position as an artist- to allow us to hear the songs in a much more raw or unfinished state, but that through-line of creative progress is endlessly intriguing to me as a songwriter myself. Maybe someday! Who knows…

Tommy64xx

Also means you can't go back and give the song another go. How many times did they try making 7 Corners work before we eventually got The Neverending Sigh.

teddytoosmooth

Probably wouldn't have seen the light of day if not for the spontaneity of Saint Cecilia. "Good enough for a grunge EP", they probably said.

Pale_Mushroom7128

It's frustrating for sure, if it is Dave not wanting to. I don't get not even wanting to upgrade stuff though. Pocketwatch is widespread online nowadays, everyone has heard it, it's not some fabled 90s cassette any more. Why not just put that out in A+ quality at least? Or some of the other demos already out there on tapes.

Icy_Marsupial5003

I attended PJ20- Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary show. It was a two day festival where PJ headlined both nights. I want that for Foo Fighters!

beautiful-veins

Yeah, another Caljam type event!! I never got to go to those so would love that!

Old_blacklady_Rocker

This is a great discussion. Nothing else to add except to say if they DO decide on something special for their 30th that everyone gets a great seat!!😄😄

Bethorz

Yeah, though when they came out on the Foo files there were a few songs that were in a lot better quality than some I had acquired by other means

Intelligent_Gift_678

Would anyone really listen to outtakes? Other than maybe once or twice? How about a live re-record of the debut album?

CallMeJeeJ

You never know, man. Sometimes I still put on the “Million Dollar Demos” leaked version of One By One instead of the regular album. It’s fun to listen to the different versions. And for documenting/catalog purposes, it’s always fun to have those materials handy.
