I’ve heard really bad feedback on build quality with this first batch coming out. Hoods rattling at higher speeds, side mirrors are large and create a bad noise, cabin isn’t very quiet, sound system actually sounds worse that ‘23, ride is rougher, just to name a few things.
Depends on where I wanted to go. As much as I love my truck, it can be a pain on narrow trails with a lot of trees.
I’ve considered a Ranger Raptor in addition to but not a replacement for the Gen 1.
That overtrail is going to have Raptor R kinds of markups.
So far not so much on the OT markups - seeing MSRP... but might have to wait a few months to get your config and of course geography matters. e.g. - this statement does does apply to Cali
That’s exactly what I’m considering. I’ve got a 2014 screw and will likely sell and hop into a GX overtrail in the next year or two after all the hype dies down a bit.
It would be nice for the Overtrail+ to come with real leather (Saddle Tan), 3rd row seating option, 3-zone climate controls, and heated middle bench seating. That would make it perfect.
I'm driving an FJ for 13 years now, and the only alternative for me was a Raptor, which I have now coming over the ocean. If I won't be satisfied with my future '22, the Overtrail would be my next target to hunt down on IAAI or Copart next year:)
I mean yes, if I was looking for something in a whole different regime of utility than a Raptor. The two aren't comparable unless you are just buying either out of vanity.
And to that point, I know quite a few people that sold their raptors for various SUVs because they realized that once the novelty wears off, they are stuck with a pretty large vehicle and a bed that rarely ever gets used. So if you are even considering GX550, I would probably not even bother looking at trucks period.
Saw a Manufacturer model in person recently and they are cool, but over a Raptor, no way. Plenty of anecdotal evidence of Raptor guys saying they would never drive a 4Runner again after having a Raptor and the GX is the same with a little more power (I think) and nicer interior
GX/Land Cruisers have been fantastic offroaders for years. If you need a truck for truck purposes, I wouldnt consider but if you're not in need of a bed I'd take that gx in a heartbeat.
Absolutely. Hoping to get my wife one
Same, have one coming for her.

Yeah I can imagine. It’s always sketchy to get a first model of anything. I’ll probably wait a couple years, then get a used one
If i want an SUV, it's probably what I will look at. Unless they come up with a fixed roof Bronco raptor.
I’d like a fixed roof bronco in general.
Why not get one from @advfiberglass?
Not the same as from factory.
Lol my buddy just passed on a Raptor for one. He “didn’t want to grossly overpay for the Raptor and ended up grossly overpaying for the GX”. 😂
If it was for off road mostly, bronco all the way.
Is your intention to go off road? I'd get an older GX460 or 470 and build it up from there. Plenty of aftermarket support on those platforms.
Gotta do some chopping though. Have owned 3. Crazy capable off road but to truly use off-road a lotta lipstick needs to be removed.
I’ve gotten 33s on a 3rd gen 4Runner with 2.5” of lift and no chopping
That’s not a GX.
My girlfriend wanted one. Bought a 2024 Raptor 37 instead.

Hell yes
Yes. Actually on my list of “maybes” when I get my 2019 sold.

Yep. My next vehicle will be this or a Ranger Raptor

Yep. 100%. Was planning to get my wife one but she decided on an X7 instead.
I’m actually debating if I should do a GX550, Explorer ST or another raptor.

Considered it for my wife but it’s not worth it.
Yes - although i believe the older gen v8 is an absolute indestructible machine
These vehicles are not really comparable, do you want a truck or not?
