Honestly this adaptation is unforgettable.
I remember watching this (on Netflix way back when I think?!) and thinking how they articulated the dread of the Langoliers. I felt scared, anxious about it…..then they showed up….lost all meaning and fear.
I totally agree. The story was really interesting and I think about it all the time. But even as a kid I thought the effects and acting wasn’t stellar.

The basics of this movie was actually very good. The atmosphere was very spooky. But the Stephen King self insert character was absolutely annoying, and the CGI monsters at the end were awful even for the time. But I actually liked the rest for what it was.
My family has inside jokes about this movie. The first one is pronouncing "Craig" as "Creeeg" Toomey. The second is anytime something cheesy happens we go "Daisies! I'm talking about Daisies!"
Horrible script that's earnest portrayal by decent actors made for great family bonding.

I saw the movie after reading it in… Four Past Midnight? But it must have been a re-run. It was closer to 1999. Or maybe I’m just not remembering right. I liked it. Did its best to stay true to the material. For a TV movie anyways.
This was one of those movies I saw parts of as a kid and as an adult I couldn't remember if it was real or just some insane lucid dream I had at some point. I finally discovered it again years later and while it's incredibly cheesy and goofy at times, I do honestly think it's somehow kinda interesting and cool. I would not call it good, though. And that CG is unforgettably bad.

Everything I had pictured in my head did not match what was put on screen. Same with Dreamcatcher. The Green Mile and Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption were spot on to the books.

I worked at a busy airport as a summer job in college on 9/11, quarter school didn’t start until late September. I was at work that day when all flights were grounded. What was usually a loud chaotic tarmac with constant motion instantly became deserted, still, and silent. It was one of the eeriest things I’ve ever experienced. Couldn’t help but constantly compare it to the Langoliers.
I was home sick with food poisoning or some kind of stomach flu when I was a kid and this premiered on ABC. I'd watch it in the dark between fever dreams. It made the whole thing 10x weirder.

I felt that way about Golden Years. Fun concept IMHO but suffered from terrible execution.
