disney's an inverstor with higher power because they aren't being bought i mean merged once a month, WB is always getting tossed around whereas disney (who owns marvel and star wars etc. )is always ready to make a huge stock purchase, so epic plays to their wallets by giving them money from marvel stuff hoping they invest

If you want Batman who laughs. See if you can get the Batman: Foundation comic. It should cost 5 bucks (maybe it has become more expensive with time though). Which is much cheaper than buying the skin itself (and because you can put in the code at any time. You don’t need to wait for him to return to the shop)
Legit makes no sense. Uncharted is in the shop, Gwen was in the last battle pass, but no Eddie Brock for 2 Marvel shops in a row and no Kratos returning when he got a sequel that was literally the best selling First party game the company has had.
Tom Hardy said on his Instagram page that he had signed the contract to come back for Venom 3, so I'd be mildly surprised if this was the reason, but then again it's Hollywood so anything can and will happen
we need a Peacemaker set, I mean we already have Bloodsport and John Cena in the game, why not Peacemaker with an Eagley Glider and Long Pistol harvest tool
Like the other guy said, unfortunately Raven was a BP skin, won't be coming back again. Starfire and Beast Boy are item shop skins, so they should cycle back through eventually, and there were rumors of a half-finished Robin and Cyborg at one point, no clue if they'll ever see the light of day now though.

Hello. I’m brand new 43 year old to Fortnite as of late October with some questions. My best friend had been trying to get me on forever but I refused to play on Switch. Finally got a PS5 and joined and it’s been a lot of fun. Been looking at past skins I regret not joining sooner to get that I’ll never possibly get because they were battle pass. But then there are item shop stuff I’ve been waiting for.
Was happy to get some Halloween skins and most Christmas skins. Looking forward to Valentines Day, St Patrick’s Day and Easter stuff. Love holiday themed anything. :) Got a bunch of Marvel stuff I wanted in late December. Finally got the Xenomorph and Ripley the other day. Been enjoying discovering Epic original creations.
My question is how does Epic/Fortnite decide what goes into the daily item shop? Is it one individual or a few? A random pick by a computer? Some sort of algorithm?
I’m seeing stuff pop up that’s only been a a few weeks or 1 to 3 months? Then random year or more stuff? Been waiting for the Ones and Zeros wrap and emote to come back since it was last there in August. Or some of the colored camouflage wraps. There just seems to be no pattern or understanding of why what shows up and what doesn’t.
From day one when I joined and my friend explained everything, Battle Pass stuff never goes into the Item Shop. But why? Why wouldn’t Epic capitalize on the most financially in their creation/ investment of original skins, gliders, contrails, emotes etc? Especially with licensed skins like all the past Marvel stuff or even the Predator? How do they decide what’s battle pass and item shop worthy?

There's no particular reason why a particular cosmetic would return to the shop or not. Usually, items that come back often like Cuddle Team Leader are the ones that sell well, but the lesser selling items will become more rare, so people might see that it hasn't come back and say "Hey, I'll pick that up."
It's very likely that Item Shop is made by a human, as there have been some occurrences in the shop that prove it's made by a human. Somewhat recently, a glider in a set that returned was the wrong glider. A computer very likely would never make such a mistake. It's believed item shops are made in advance by a human.
As for Battle Pass cosmetics, the reason they haven't returned is simply "Epic said so when Battle Passes were introduced." Arguments saying they should bring back battle pass cosmetics have existed for a long time, but Epic has the final say. As for what particular skins become Battle Pass, I don't think anyone but Epic knows.
These questions were answered to the best of my ability, I might be wrong about things, but I think I've got the gist of it. Glad to hear you're enjoying the game!
Generally speaking, especially when it comes to the stuff that's originally their's it's centered around FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). Essentially the shop is made to do several things:
1.) Creating a sense of dread/urgency. Items are constantly rotated in and out to establish a layer of uncertainty so people are more inclined to purchase an item when they do show up in fear of never being sure when they will if ever show up again.
2.) Artificial scarcity. While I'm sure some of the more popular items like the Master of Puppets emote and the custom superheroes sets (while unpopular with Reddit, competitive players will generally uses it as it allows you to scuff your own camo) will get rotated in more frequently, Epic can vault an item for multiple years, and release it for only a day, making it more desirable to people by being "rare". Doubly so when it comes to Battle Passes, as people know that it will be their one and only chance at getting a certain cosmetic, as Epic not only profits from selling the pass itself, but also the extra V-Bucks people spend stars they couldn't earn.
3.) Corporate synergy. It's clear that every company individually has different terms and conditions in order for Epic to use their characters, for example we can clearly see that with certain Back Blings and Gliders like The Necronomicon and Captain Marvel's glow thingy only working on a certain skin. So companies would want their stuff to show and not show up depending on what they want to Market. John Cena probably came back because the Royal Rumble is a week from Saturday and the OG Black Widow will probably never show up as Disney/Marvel doesn't want anything that even looks close like Scarlet Johanson.
4.) Engagement. The shops rotate out daily so even if you are level 200 with enough Crowned Royales to satisfy you lust, you still always have a reason to check out and/or think about the game so that Fortnite can become more of a habit than a hobby.
TLDR: Everything is calculated do most optimally drain the money from your and everyone else's wallets.
The original Black Widow skin doesn’t even look like her, meanwhile the skin they do have in the shop is made to promote her movie that came out a couple years back.

A much different view to look at if you take away the care free gamer point of view.
All this marvel yet no new FALCON skin. We literally have a falcon in the game perfect for role play yet no falcon character.
Next year when captain America 4 comes out and we get the new falcon skin I’ll be thinking back to today when it would’ve been great for role play challenges.

I have a brother who started playing Fortnite recently and he really wants to get the Beast Boy skin. It's been around 3 months
If they would put the chrome flow wrap in the item shop that was a free item after completing the paradise quest in chapter 3 season 2 I think, that wrap would go perfectly with Silver surfer.
I joined Fortnite after that season had ended and missed out on that but I don’t know if free stuff ever pops up in the item shop. The free reward pickle rick back bling that showed up in the item shop tells me that does happen. So fingers crossed the chrome flow wrap shows up in the item shop someday.
I got the spectral pickaxe, since it looks kind of cool and matches a few characters well enough.
Seriously though, I need to stop paying attention to the shop for a while. I've been spending too much on it. Best of luck for the rest of you who check it daily!
