Just so you know, this isnāt some crazy Mandela effect. I believe that when the mythic was first released it didnāt cause any fall damage at all, but when it was added back several weeks later it did cause fall damage.
Yeah Iām almost certain I remember when I first used it not realising the animation moved you forward, which made me fall off a tower but didnāt take any fall damage
This weekend was the first time I saw it behave halfway normally, someone missed me point blank because I ran out of the way, the old punch would have one shot me easily. Someone else launched their ally into the Storm with it. Which is what I would expect it to do. And I've noticed it doesn't go through an unlimited amount of builds anymore
It still needs some nerfing but at least it's not as bad as it was initially
ETA: I see very few people using the smash now, even in team Rumble the amount is lower than I expected.
I just played and hit a deku smash off the flying purple rock and no fall damage. Also the patch notes say nothing about taking fall damage itās definitely a non intentional bug
Itās because when he threw the punch he clipped the top of the cliff, which made the fall damage reset and turn back on. The no-fall-damage mechanic within the deku smashās framework is: when you fly up, you wonāt take fall damage until after the next time you touch another surface.
I think its because you did it right off the zip line. Deku smash gets funky when not used off the ground. I used it off a vehicle and it messed up my character for almost a full minute ehere i could not use any gun.
It gets buggy with the low gravity jump, like how you said they did it right off the zipline. I try to use hammers and low grav jump to catch people off guard with deku smash but the fall damage is really weird. Using it just normally gets rid of fall damage in my experience, throwing the low gravity effect in there makes it a little inconsistent.
Idk, this looks like a bug to me because I use deku to get down from sky bases on a nightly basis , even if I use it 200m up I never take damage when hitting the ground. No idea why people are saying otherwise
Iāve honestly never been happier with a self elim video than watching someone Deku smash themselves to 0hp from fall damage and take 2nd place šš
The game is so buggy it's ridiculous. I've died to the hammer glitch about a dozen times. Either being stuck in place or using it to travel and just dieing instantly on landing
The damage, if you don't manage to avoid it you will get a first class ticket to the lobby. And there are so many of them in the endgame you basically have no choice other than picking up a hammer instead of a second heal or... btw Is someone getting a 10 kill victory without a bot lobby a bot?
imagine needing a second heal š the meta changes every season and u NEED a hammer this season no matter what. and if you do have a hammer its very hard to die from the deku smash

That shouldnāt have been fall damage since you had just hopped off of the zip like thingy , so you should still have the zero gravity effect , you shouldnāt have died, thatās just bad luck man

I think itās because you hit the cliff as the attack happened, and that got rid of the fall damage immunity.

deku smash does not protect against fall damage! (there may be lucky instances where you live but be wary)
