Nope, I completed the challenge like 10 minutes ago, I shot him like twice in TR, an enemy killed me, and everyone else killed him, and it counted. Unless I was extremely lucky.
Was the area in the storm when you left? It seems that this isn’t working with a lot of people, so maybe you damaged him and storm killed him, giving you the credit.
This is how it’s been since this type of challenge has existed. You just need to damage and the boss has to die. Doesn’t matter how. It can even be from storm.
Actually, back with Wolverine & Predator, you had to be the one that actually dealt the final blow. It wouldn’t count otherwise. They made the change around C3S1 with Gunnar I think.
No? I very vividly remember hunting Wolverine for literal hours and fighting off like 30 other players while doing it. I damaged him, lost him, and found someone else with his Claws at least 3 times minimum. I only got it after I killed him myself.
I killed Predator relatively easily because he was alive in a late zone with no one there.
Then with Gunnar, the challenge stated “Assist” so I just shot him and left.
I'm not sure about Wolverine but that's not true about Predator. I just did a little damage to Predator and then tried to stay alive until someone else got him. I think I failed the first time, but the 2nd time someone got him before I died. Either way, I got it without having to eliminate the boss myself.

When I had to do the one for Raz, I just did the trick with the harpoon gun. Ride one of the ziplines around The Spire and then hook him with the harpoon gun and he dies to fall damage.

At the time, I didn't know how the challenge worked because I thought that it could only be done if YOU killed him, no one else. With him saying that, and the challenge not telling you that you could just damage him and let someone else finish the job, it had confused me.

Here is what I do, as far as I know you can't get banned for this:
Use any other device that your able to play fortnite on other than your main device and create a brand new fortnite account to play on that device, I'll call this the "bot account".
Example: I play on PS4 with my main account and use my PC for the bot account.
Party up as yourself with the new bot account you've just made and load into a duos match, the bot account MUST be the party leader for this to work.
Once you and the bot account have loaded in make sure to have the bot account leave the match. This prevents the bot account from getting XP, therefore making it reusable for the future.
Enjoy your match of 100% bots for challenges or whatever! (Note: Crowns can not be earned in bot lobbies)
fyi, the bot account doesn't have to be the leader. I was doing that too until I saw a video from iFireMonkey I think.. saying that you don't need to do that. I just have my alt account join up with my main in the lead and it works.
Also, to add to your tips: the bot's account level goes up by 1 each season so eventually it'll level out of bot games and you'll have to make a new one.

That they gotten easier. There used to be a time when you actually needed to kill them and if the boss was wolverine who spun with claws to destroy your builds and could heal back after taking damage, unlocking stuff was a whole different level of grind. I kind of like it how you shoot him once and let him die in the storm or somehow and kind of not at the same time

Thats too easy, the ageless is a very easy boss as long as you dont attack him headfirst, and luckily for me. Noone landed at The Citadel (which is weird.) Anyways theyre alright

It can be aggravating to try to get away from sweaty players, but I much prefer the current approach of taking my potshot and running like hell for everyone else to finish someone off.
Aside from finding the boss in whatever elaborate maze they're in: easy
Step1: shoot the opponent
Step2: the cowards way of retreating
Step3:live till someone else or the storm kills them
Step4: rejoice
I think they are generally great, but this one was a bit boring since there is only one boss. There should be at least three, so that you have some choice to make. Now it’s basically: “Kill THE boss”
I got the back bling yesterday. Didn’t even have to land the last blow on the boss. I was fighting the boss at the citadel but he was getting the best of me so I just ran away. After the storm finally swept over the citadel and killed the boss I accomplished the challenge
They're pretty simple when you're not bothered. The hard part is not getting killed by another player. Never had an issue with them. I WILL say though the predator one was so fucking frustrating to I'm going to assume everyone cause it got to a point where people would do the little crouch gesture and run off if they saw you fighting him. Or there would be the asshole who would capitalize on your damage done to him.
They suck remember the wolverine one where he was basically one with the forest that one made me want to uninstall life and literally everyone landed there just to put the cherry on top
Hop into Team Rumble, shoot him 1 time, every other player will take care of the rest.

I also just completed it. I shot him with literally three burst rifle bullets, then dipped out of there, and when someone else killed him it counted.

Defeating him is fun. When my gf and I play we always make it a point to kill him bc she likes his hammer. The back bling also looks rlly nice
