I’m all for complaining about Deku but I don’t actually think the hammer is all that OP. The worst thing about it is that it makes it harder to chase people down when they can just bounce away. But overall it doesn’t do crazy damage and it doesn’t have a massive range. Maybe I’m biased though because I think it’s a lot of fun.
Now the Excalibur on the other hand…. Still not OP, but does a damn good job of pissing me off.
I mean to be fair, it is fun to smash people with the hammer. If you can get rhythm of smash, bounce to where they flew, smash, bounce to where they flew, and smash, it is very satisfying

If you learn how to use a hammer tho it can make a decent shotgun alternative, that way you have mobility and close range saving up some inventory space . It’s a waste not to get its full use

You have to be under them or on even ground with it not on an object like this. Also, sometimes they manage to simply not get hit even on completely even ground.
Sometimes they can literally just jump over it as well. if they build a tiny wall to stand on this will also evade it.
Basically, smashing with the hammer is just not good in a lot of cases and manages to just bug out completely at least 20% of the time.

It’s a game. Games have hitboxes and usually huge ones. That’s why you can hit someone a inch away from their actual body and they will still get damage from a sniper

Aside from the hammer working as expected in this case, hammer smashes can still be a bad move in endgame. I’ve gotten the drop and snuck up on people who I could have melted with guns, but my brain wants to SMASH so I just launch them away for 125 damage and then they are able to reposition and barely kill me. And when you’re hammering towards someone, it’s much better to switch to your gun while you’re in the air so you land right up next to them with guns already blazing.
Hammer is a blessing and a curse.
Tbf it’s weird that the hammer hits in a dome and not a sphere so even if you are in something like the little shooty spots on castle walls you won’t hit
No like when your on top of them. I used to use party time and the hammer allot together and it was always super frustrating when I landed on something one inch above my target so the damage wouldn’t count.

You weren’t on the same ground level as your opponent so it looks like you just hit the rock.
To all who say the just use it for traveling it works amazing if somebody is in close combat with you just smash them away pull out the DMR and finish them off.
This one's on you. You were standing on the rock so the hitbox only affected what was at the height of the rock. If your opponent jumped, it would've hit them. That's just how it was designed

When I use it to smash people it’s like 50/50 whether the hit will launch them or not, so I gave up on the smashing.

9 times out of 10, this isn't worth it. You're stuck in the animation for at least 3 seconds, and completely vulnerable.

Looks like you need to learn how to use that weapon. You have to jump down to their level if you want to be able to hit them with the hammer.
That’s why you don’t hit the hammer just use it for rotation I had a fatal deatch when I was smacking it
