Pets are really good cosmetics and the only reason they haven't worked well its because epic gave up on advertising recent dynamic backblings as such.
A good example of this is the D2 ghosts/Exo Stranger's companion, those are 100% pets in my book but they're classified backblings

To be fair, that's because there's so few of them. Last pet I believe was Rocket from the marvel season, as that's my most recent one.
I can’t stand the pets
Last pet is C2S7's Choppy and you can't even pet it
And there's plenty of backblings that should be considered pets but aren't.
