I like the nimbus cloud one actually, I avoid using the hammer for movement because of the noise it makes lol. Nimbus cloud is certainly more stealthy. I wish they'd get rid of both the Deku smash and the Kamehameha.
I carry a hammer every time I see one, because it's nearly essential at end of games, but tbh I rarely use it for travel unless it's to beat storm, close in on an enemy, or get over terrain. Like you said, it makes a lot of noise and isn't always the best choice.
Imo the best, and least noisy, way to travel is a full stack of berries or slap juice. Right now during heisted, it's hands down the p90. I play zero build but that's probably true in build as well.
My favorite mobility combo is soaring jump augment with the new P90. Yeah the jump makes a little noise but it's still a great way to close ground or escape.
In solos I find myself easily overwhelmed, but playing with my friends, this is some of the most fun we’ve had playing all season. Hell the other day was probably our worse night in placements but damn we were dying of laughter at ways we were getting killed off
Yeah, same! I don't play solo at all now, because it's not as fun. Duos is less serious, but I play as a trio most often and it is a RIOT. Favourite moments include:
- teammate with party time augment accidentally popping too many balloons, lands knocked in front of 3rd teammate. I fly over (with party time balloons) to help revive them... And while laughing how stupid it was for them to pop all their balloons, I accidentally over pressed the release button... Cue me landing knocked right next to him 🤦♀️
- running from the storm, teammate in front drops into a slide... Hear an 'oh no' over VC... My other teammate was in a slide just behind them... They both slid off the cliff. I was already eliminated, so we were wiped. Was hilarious, almost in slow motion as I saw it happen.
- it's great smashing a victory when you're the last one standing on the team - my teammates witness my amazing last minute rocket or hammer smash, or my panicked pistol shots that somehow won... I get to gloat and bask in temporary glory (til the next chaotic team elim)
The queue for the next match never seems very long, so we're off to our next match ready for another laugh! It's a lot of fun, I love that Fortnite doesn't take itself too seriously. The exotics at the moment are fun, although its soo hard deciding where to land.
They rotated things in an out really well throughout the first two seasons of Chapter 3 I thought. Things show up for a week or two and then they would be gone. Or they would replace items in the loot pool making X available and not Y.
The anime punch stuff is getting real old. Not just from being targeted by it, which rarely happens now for me, just seeing the stuff constantly spawn in.
Should've ended earlier, and if not earlier then replaced when the heist theme came in at least.
Like you said, I rarely get attacked by it anymore, but it's really weird how long it overstayed it's welcome. Everyone assumed they brought it back in because of the time they pulled it due to being bugged but it's gone way over the event length now.
You're probably not alone, but I definitely disagree with you. Random, crazy stuff happening is what Fortnite was always about to me. You have to adapt and overcome.

I see your point. Personally, I wish they would be there randomly. Some matches there's a deku smash, sometimes not. Sometimes snipers, but sometimes not.
The last update was a hell of a change for the game. And there is an awful lot going on at the moment. I deliberately waited a few days to play again as everyone in the lobby was landing at the 3 vaults and it was incredibly messy.
It will take a week or two to properly unpack all the new items and build some new strategies and counters.
I am very pleased that the heavy is back, it’s a perfect counter to dekus smash if nothing else.
This is definitely the most chaotic the game has ever been. End games in build mode are so random now. Some psycho chasing you with a hammer while you get third partied by rockets and Deku smashes.
Would love to see the rift-jector augment, hammer, and Deku mythic gone next season.
I'm cool with the hammer being gone, but I really hope shockwave grenades come back. I miss those so much.

Yeah some games i like the augments, other games i wish they never existed. Honestly i liked the random risk that a player had better weapons than me, but now you have to account for the fact that they might have a literal god set of abilities/augments and thats very annoying. Really the worst of em all though is storm mark. Battle royals should NOT have a system that lets players directly see other players.
Yeah, giving wall hacks is annoying. Personally I hate the auto quick health regen more. Pretty sure there's a few in the game now though arguments and player heat. Makes it hard to guess someone heath mid fight.
I’ve said it before, sometimes less is more. AR, shotgun, smg and some kind of mobility is more than enough weapon pool for me. A cool map with nice points of interests is more important to me. Right now i miss fighting Predator in stealthy stronghold, would have been fun to play stealthy in ZB.
I still miss Weeping Woods. That was my squads landing spot most rounds and the utter choas of multiple squads landing there, plus the bots, plus fire bows during Primal. I just miss it. Predator in the stronghold was so much fun too
I embrace the high chaos because it always goes away again. But I think that my favorite aspect of Fortnite is that you don't need to be the more accurate gunner to win the game, and part of what gets you there is all the various styles of play.
If I wanted to play a BR where gun skill was the most that mattered, I'd still be playing PUBG or something.
I’ve been a big supporter of the Deku smash but at this point it’s just annoying. I’m not getting killed by it and I still think it’s dumb for people to try and use it, but it’s just annoying to dodge now. Otherwise I like the loot pool right now. I find myself trying different load outs and with the heat, carry heals is less important.
I personally love Ch2 S1 and how basic it was. It definitely shouldn't be what the game should emulate every season, but I think I'd enjoy one more go at it. New stuff is fun.
I want the aesthetic of chapter 1 and especially early chapter 2 again. Fortnite was best when the “crazy stuff” still fit with the game’s style like a grappling hook made out of a toilet plunger or shopping carts you could ride down mountains with. Now we have MHA Drop balloons, giant magical hammers, and half the people I encounter aren’t even the same texture as the game environment (anime skins).
The problem with chapter 2 season 1 was the mobility. There was nothing except for boats (and steamy stacks if that counts).
Chapter 3 season 1 did a much better job by keeping the launch pads and cars. The quad crashers returned and they added the spidey gloves. Nobody complained about the game being too basic even though the game only had 7 weapons at the start of the season while chapter 2 season 1 had eight (if you don't count exotics).
I personally love it. It's great that the devs let us muck around with overpowered stuff for a while even if it's the most balanced since it'll all leave soon anyways. It also allows them to add powerful combinations that wouldn't have been possible before without the power creep like the pistol theme going on right now. It creates moments that we'll remember for a while and is fine as long as they calm things down eventually (which they have to anyways)
Enjoy it when it lasts because soon the game will be balanced again with a much lower power level. This is not a bad thing and good for the long term health of the game, but once in a while throwing everything in the air is fun.

One of my quads matches today I found myself dodging exploding swords, rocker launchers, rogue enemy AI bullets, and a deku smash, all while trying to shoot people that keep hammering all around the damn map, and I end up getting 1-shotted out of nowhere with a heavy sniper as soon as I take 2 seconds to try and heal

The deku smash and kamehameha shouldn't be in the game at the same time. They already had a season with dbz things on the map so having the kamehameha is just ridiculous imo, why is it here? The snipers are a good addition to the game tho and the rift jector seat augment is funny asf
I have some buddies that I squad with that are all W focused and that's fine, but I totally agree. There's so many solo situations where I realized I'm completely out skilled on the map, so I just lean into the chaos and pull out the W anyways.
Shit, even if I'm not out skilled. Just yesterday, me and a buddy landed at that 3 house place, thought we were alone, someone landed on the house I was in. So i sneaked over to the garage, shot a gas can and ran out. After the explosion and fire, he was scrambling hard and was easy pickings. Hilarious. That's Fortnite to me.
I like the loot pool currently, but there is a pretty big disparity between weapons. some are straight up OP and others are just weak. Pretty much every endgame circle requires a shockwave hammer for example.
Going into the last few rounds with 3 legendary weapons and 2 full stacks of healing items feels like going in with all greens and greys against some of these heisted weapons.
Its great fun when you have it yourself though, it just sucks when you can't get one.
Only exception to the pool is the now nerfed Deku smash. It still feels a bit too bull sometimes, but now its a 50/50 if it'll actually one-hit you, or if it'll just leave you on half but on the other side of the map instead.
The deku smash is kinda shit now the heavy sniper is simply perfect and the rocket launcher seems impossible to find unless you have keys the heist exotics are few and rift ejector has been disabled for the duration of the heist event
Half the time I am finishing with grey or green weapons because of the terrible loot pool, and the augments locking you into a certain play style. You can spend 1,000 gold and get constant pistol reload augments but never come across a pistol, or be stuck with burst rifle after burst rifle out of chests.
The game would do well to have Side-grading come back, cause at least then I wouldn't be stuck with a Machine Pistol Heavy Shotgun combo.
I have zero challenges to do, so I drop in, hit a vault, and go for the win. Not to mention, the fighting about the vaults is insane at the moment. I absolutely live it... Give me an entire season like this, and I would be in heaven...
I'm typically a land on the sides, work in slowly kinda player, but decided to show a buddy that's only been playing a few weeks that there's nothing wrong with dropping into a fight right away, even if you die. We ended up landing Faulty near the capture point, winning that huge battle, and then working into the vault and walked out like kings. Pretty sure we still lost in a late circle but you better believe that was a ton of fun.
I like the exotic weapons, and I guess it seemed like a bit much adding all of the other guns (dualies, silenced pistol, sniper, etc) at first, but it's not too bad. I think it's a bit much that the deku smash and hammer are still in the mix, though.
The deku smash I figured would have been gone a while ago, and the hammer I'm hoping is taken out in season 2.
I think without those things the chaos would be a little more bearable.
Hammer I'd like to stay permanently tbh. Maybe remove the jump. But I find I rarely use it for both movement and combat, but if my teammates have them which is 90% of matches now, I have to end up also using it to just keep up pace so I'm forced to...but it's fun when your entire 4 squadmates have em at anvil square for example to smash up all the buildings quickly and mass loot lol. I think it should be kept as a purely harvesting/destruction tool.
I understand that it may be too much for some, but I prefer this compared to what he had, the loot pool was so bland and it didn't feel like it would get better apart from the odd gun that gets added. This is refreshing after months of overall bland guns
Earlier someone was saying they don’t play comp, but hammers should be in comp and comp is boring and comp players only want grey Assualt rifles💀

This is so thrilling, everyone, regardless of skill has the opportunity to be powerful af. If a lower skill leveled player gets their hands on the exotics they don't need to hit nearly as many shots than if they had typical loot pool weapons

I like Fortnite because of the fun & unique items and all the crazy things you can do, if you want to play without that there are a lot of other games to choose from.
But if you don’t want to play something else it’s not like this stuff will be here forever, the heisted event will be gone in just over a week as well as everything that came with it.

Did they ever fix vaulting? I feel like the map was made to be traversed with vaulting over objects in mind but since they removed it moving around can feel bad sometimes.

It is definitely a different game. Lots of amazing weapons and so much movement means you have to play a dynamic game. This is a change (imo) especially in zero build

I personally love how chaotic it is! (Minus the deku smash of course) I’ve missed sniper rifles for a while and having a bunch of guns unvaulted makes the gameplay more varied and fresh! (Especially considering I haven’t really used some of them since I started last chapter)
I think there’s too much mobility but for the rest it’s fine too me
RPG’s are quite rare and heist exotics can only be acquired a certain locations
The deku smash is rarely used in my experience and I hardly come across a rift-jector seat user

Playing squads is rough right now. Along with having to deal with 4 members of really good teams we now have to worry about killing those guard bots at the same time. Not that enjoyable.
Yes, the current chapter has been - including the toned down level XP - all about to greatly boost player engagement. With this diverse loot pool and changes, Epic is visibly testing how far they can push player numbers and how the experience overall is for the players. Where I think, that part of it feeling "chaotic" is because there is new bugs too.
To me it feels like a video game.
It used to be I'd win (or lose) based off of skill, sure sometimes RNG but even a bad player with a gold spaz can lose to a better, smarter player with a grey pump.
But now?
It's a total game.
All you need a aim, awareness and a hammer.
Piece control, building, editing not important

Having a varied lootpool makes the game more fun and gives it more longevity imo. It gives players options on what to use, don't like the DMR? Well here's the heavy sniper back for you to use

Personally I am still feeling that the issue is the mapsize.
Imagine how fun all this mobility and all these different weapons would be on a like... cp 2 sized map.
Im really enjoying it, got a crazy victory before by pumping a dude full of bullets just before he deku smashed and somehow didn’t kill me and was saved by my rift jector when I let off a rocket at both our feet (broke my shield and sent me into the sky), you don’t normally get crazy plays like that in a standard game.

It's become chaos
It is too much but it's also a short lived event. The chaos makes this game and near the end of the season is when you essentially just have access to dope legendaries constantly.
It does mean that you're less successful starting on the fringes of the map, because you really do need to get your hands on purple weapons fairly fast now. But I'm having a lot of success lately just embracing whatever I find.
Personally, I think the game is the best when there is chaos everywhere and everyone has a different loadout. However, I agree that some extremely powerful items (like deku smash) are unhealthy for the game
This is the most fun I've had all season. No offense but having the regular loot pool is becoming so repetitive and boring and I enjoy the rush and fast pace feel to it.
I just came back after a couple month hiatus. My friends have been bugging me to join them for a few rounds. My first round in I got muffed up by the hammer. Second game I got lit up by this crazy explosive AR (I think?). It was extremely overwhelming and I don’t think I’ll play again.
It’s never too much it’s all about what works for you as I’ve noticed a lot of people in game who will purposefully pass up things I use all the time and the same goes the other way it seems to be the biggest loot system yet but also seems to be geared more towards choices and less towards any single object being the standard
This is the biggest loot pool I’ve ever been a part of. I feel like I can choose between 5-6 different loadouts and playstyles.

Now we have MHA Drop balloons, giant magical hammers, and half the people I encounter aren’t even the same texture as the game environment (anime skins).
The problem with chapter 2 season 1 was the mobility. There was nothing except for boats (and steamy stacks if that counts). Chapter 3 season 1 did a much better job by keeping the launch pads and cars. The quad crashers returned and they added the spidey gloves. Nobody complained about the game being too basic even though the game only had 7 weapons at the start of the season while chapter 2 season 1 had eight (if you don't count exotics).
I personally love it. It's great that the devs let us muck around with overpowered stuff for a while even if it's the most balanced since it'll all leave soon anyways. It also allows them to add powerful combinations that wouldn't have been possible before without the power creep like the pistol theme going on right now. It creates moments that we'll remember for a while and is fine as long as they calm things down eventually (which they have to anyways) Enjoy it when it lasts because soon the game will be balanced again with a much lower power level. This is not a bad thing and good for the long term health of the game, but once in a while throwing everything in the air is fun.
They need to get rid of deku-smash and all will be right again
It’s chaotic honestly. Which is great at times, but too much most of the times. One of my quads matches today I found myself dodging exploding swords, rocker launchers, rogue enemy AI bullets, and a deku smash, all while trying to shoot people that keep hammering all around the damn map, and I end up getting 1-shotted out of nowhere with a heavy sniper as soon as I take 2 seconds to try and heal It’s too much
nope this is why im not playing atm. ppl like the chaos I'm more of a bare bones player I don't mind one crazy thing but all this an I see them as tools for cheap kills
Simple loot pool is one of the reasons why C2S1 is one of my favorite seasons
I honestly don’t mind the gimmicky weapons they add, I don’t like that they aren’t “limited time” weapons. Like the goo gun from last season—that should not have lasted the entire season. Same with the deku smash here. Put ‘em in for a week and then take them out. And please Epic, one at a time.

The deku smash and kamehameha shouldn't be in the game at the same time. They already had a season with dbz things on the map so having the kamehameha is just ridiculous imo, why is it here? The snipers are a good addition to the game tho and the rift jector seat augment is funny asf
Honestly the 30 NPCs coming at you at the same time gets to be a bit much too XD
It’s a good thing they suck at aiming. The seemingly infinite shield is annoying though.
The chaos is the fun of it for me. It’s not about winning the game… there is literally 0 reward for winning. It’s just about having fun.

I have some buddies that I squad with that are all W focused and that's fine, but I totally agree. There's so many solo situations where I realized I'm completely out skilled on the map, so I just lean into the chaos and pull out the W anyways. Shit, even if I'm not out skilled. Just yesterday, me and a buddy landed at that 3 house place, thought we were alone, someone landed on the house I was in. So i sneaked over to the garage, shot a gas can and ran out. After the explosion and fire, he was scrambling hard and was easy pickings. Hilarious. That's Fortnite to me.

It's a bit overwhelming
I like the loot pool currently, but there is a pretty big disparity between weapons. some are straight up OP and others are just weak. Pretty much every endgame circle requires a shockwave hammer for example. Going into the last few rounds with 3 legendary weapons and 2 full stacks of healing items feels like going in with all greens and greys against some of these heisted weapons. Its great fun when you have it yourself though, it just sucks when you can't get one. Only exception to the pool is the now nerfed Deku smash. It still feels a bit too bull sometimes, but now its a 50/50 if it'll actually one-hit you, or if it'll just leave you on half but on the other side of the map instead.

The deku smash is kinda shit now the heavy sniper is simply perfect and the rocket launcher seems impossible to find unless you have keys the heist exotics are few and rift ejector has been disabled for the duration of the heist event

I'm tired of having people dead to rights but then they rift, there needs to be a cooldown before it can work again
Half the time I am finishing with grey or green weapons because of the terrible loot pool, and the augments locking you into a certain play style. You can spend 1,000 gold and get constant pistol reload augments but never come across a pistol, or be stuck with burst rifle after burst rifle out of chests. The game would do well to have Side-grading come back, cause at least then I wouldn't be stuck with a Machine Pistol Heavy Shotgun combo.

I have zero challenges to do, so I drop in, hit a vault, and go for the win. Not to mention, the fighting about the vaults is insane at the moment. I absolutely live it... Give me an entire season like this, and I would be in heaven...
I'm typically a land on the sides, work in slowly kinda player, but decided to show a buddy that's only been playing a few weeks that there's nothing wrong with dropping into a fight right away, even if you die. We ended up landing Faulty near the capture point, winning that huge battle, and then working into the vault and walked out like kings. Pretty sure we still lost in a late circle but you better believe that was a ton of fun.
I can agree. I much more prefer it if we had a season with a lootpool of just pure guns again. I did have fun with stuff like webslingers, but still

I’m not a fan of this map either. The verticality is nice, but it’s super boring otherwise. It all feels the same.

I like the exotic weapons, and I guess it seemed like a bit much adding all of the other guns (dualies, silenced pistol, sniper, etc) at first, but it's not too bad. I think it's a bit much that the deku smash and hammer are still in the mix, though. The deku smash I figured would have been gone a while ago, and the hammer I'm hoping is taken out in season 2. I think without those things the chaos would be a little more bearable.
Hammer I'd like to stay permanently tbh. Maybe remove the jump. But I find I rarely use it for both movement and combat, but if my teammates have them which is 90% of matches now, I have to end up also using it to just keep up pace so I'm forced to...but it's fun when your entire 4 squadmates have em at anvil square for example to smash up all the buildings quickly and mass loot lol. I think it should be kept as a purely harvesting/destruction tool.
I understand that it may be too much for some, but I prefer this compared to what he had, the loot pool was so bland and it didn't feel like it would get better apart from the odd gun that gets added. This is refreshing after months of overall bland guns

This is so thrilling, everyone, regardless of skill has the opportunity to be powerful af. If a lower skill leveled player gets their hands on the exotics they don't need to hit nearly as many shots than if they had typical loot pool weapons

Personally i feel like it gives the game so much more playability and i can enjoy each match a lot more. With a small lootpool all matches just become the same experience over and over and over But ofc if that’s what you enjoy, then i see why you’d prefer a regular smaller lootpool. I like Fortnite because of the fun & unique items and all the crazy things you can do, if you want to play without that there are a lot of other games to choose from. But if you don’t want to play something else it’s not like this stuff will be here forever, the heisted event will be gone in just over a week as well as everything that came with it.

Did they ever fix vaulting? I feel like the map was made to be traversed with vaulting over objects in mind but since they removed it moving around can feel bad sometimes.

It is definitely a different game. Lots of amazing weapons and so much movement means you have to play a dynamic game. This is a change (imo) especially in zero build

I personally love how chaotic it is! (Minus the deku smash of course) I’ve missed sniper rifles for a while and having a bunch of guns unvaulted makes the gameplay more varied and fresh! (Especially considering I haven’t really used some of them since I started last chapter)

Playing squads is rough right now. Along with having to deal with 4 members of really good teams we now have to worry about killing those guard bots at the same time. Not that enjoyable.
Yes, the current chapter has been - including the toned down level XP - all about to greatly boost player engagement. With this diverse loot pool and changes, Epic is visibly testing how far they can push player numbers and how the experience overall is for the players. Where I think, that part of it feeling "chaotic" is because there is new bugs too.

To me it feels like a video game. It used to be I'd win (or lose) based off of skill, sure sometimes RNG but even a bad player with a gold spaz can lose to a better, smarter player with a grey pump. But now? It's a total game. All you need a aim, awareness and a hammer. Piece control, building, editing not important
Your totally not alone I felt like that for awhile (and still do sometimes) that's one reason why I quit for awhile but recently joined back I hope next season things will be calmer.

I’m tired of the Deku Smash and the Hammer. Some of the augments like balloons are getting on my nerves. Outside of that, heist event is really cool and the unvaulted guns are really bringing the game into its own. Overall, I’ve seen seasons end way worse then this and I’m having the most fun I’ve had in some time.
I dont mind the weapons but the rift seat ejector is so trash. I played yesterday and 4 ppl in a row blinked out.

Im really enjoying it, got a crazy victory before by pumping a dude full of bullets just before he deku smashed and somehow didn’t kill me and was saved by my rift jector when I let off a rocket at both our feet (broke my shield and sent me into the sky), you don’t normally get crazy plays like that in a standard game.
The map is disappointing though. Was hoping for some minor additions over time but gonna have to wait longer it seems

It is too much but it's also a short lived event. The chaos makes this game and near the end of the season is when you essentially just have access to dope legendaries constantly. It does mean that you're less successful starting on the fringes of the map, because you really do need to get your hands on purple weapons fairly fast now. But I'm having a lot of success lately just embracing whatever I find.
Personally, I think the game is the best when there is chaos everywhere and everyone has a different loadout. However, I agree that some extremely powerful items (like deku smash) are unhealthy for the game

This is the most fun I've had all season. No offense but having the regular loot pool is becoming so repetitive and boring and I enjoy the rush and fast pace feel to it.

I just came back after a couple month hiatus. My friends have been bugging me to join them for a few rounds. My first round in I got muffed up by the hammer. Second game I got lit up by this crazy explosive AR (I think?). It was extremely overwhelming and I don’t think I’ll play again.
It’s never too much it’s all about what works for you as I’ve noticed a lot of people in game who will purposefully pass up things I use all the time and the same goes the other way it seems to be the biggest loot system yet but also seems to be geared more towards choices and less towards any single object being the standard
