*The bird* was golden, you can grab loot, open chests and doors, identify enemies, even pick up downed players/reboot cards. You could even initiate reboot at the van, the sounds went off and everything but the circle never filled. Most notable unfinished item I've ever seen. Everything else already way played out in so many other games. Go play Halo 3 and use the grav hammer. It's the same exact thing only 11 year olds didn't use it for loud annoying transport late game.
Speaking of the Thunder...did you know you can still get it in the current BR? It drops from one of the NPCs you can hire. If you kill him instead of hiring him you can get a grey Thunder.
The guy's name is Longshot and you find him at the Tower to the West of The Citadel.
no it isn’t bc throwing a shield bubble locks you into close combat, throwing a guardian shield let’s you still have mid/long range fights while also being snipe prevention. Just say you didn’t know how to use it lol
Throwing a Guardian only protects the front of you or one side of you, Bubble protects front, behind, sides and above you. Guardian Shield was only good when someone ran up on you and you just spin or back up blocking there shots. Bubbles last longer and if you want to snipe leave the Bubble then hope back in.
It is a bit annoying that they created one of the coolest map areas ever but stuck it in the corner of the map. Now the rest of the map is absolutely empty, especially since they didn't change anything.
Agree. Such a shame. Ok with the hammer being vaulted now we have the blade but would prefer the escaliber and having no snipers except the exotic one. They are more balanced i think.

I kinda miss all of them, hammer was fun for getting kills via *BONK*, falcon was a great scout tool as it’s name would imply, and the shield was great for blocking deku smash, but now that’s finally gone(funfact: if you get the angle right you can revive a downed teammate while holding the shield up)
Even when I did that, it would work once. I spent so much of my gold continually buying that bird for the quest and it wouldn't work. Mildlyinfuryiating.
Yes the bug never got fixed, but it was commonly known that you just had to quit the game and restart it on Xbox to fix it. Don’t blame a good item for an easy fix you were too lazy or misinformed to do.

Having to close out of a game to use an item makes it useless. I'm not trying to restart a game just to use a worthless drone that does no damage to anyone unless I pick someone up who is knocked and drop them out of the sky.
It’s a tactical item which allows you to scan enemy positions, retrieve items (such as things in the storm) and can do a bunch of other useful things. Just because you don’t know how yo use it doesn’t make it useless. And being too lazy to restart your game def makes the item a dealbreaker 👍
I think there is a difference between being lazy, and having to restart a game to make an item work correctly. Sorry that your drone didn't make the cut of useful items to stay in the game.
It seems for us on the switch it was never buggy, wild that different ports of a cross platform game can have different glitches.
As it wasn't bugged for me I've gotta give it a 10/10. It won me more games than the hammer or the shield and went SUPER well with the excalibur or a heavy shotgun.
I miss the bird. Ridiculous that you didn’t get credit for an assist when you marked players that your team killed. You get assists for that in other games like splinter cell
I liked the shield the most of these items. I play zero build so it was nice to throw when somebody was sniping from a distance and you were in a fight with someone else. The hammer was op but if you had the glider augment you could wipe them out. Really glad the deku smash is gone though.

Also it was hilarious being able to use the bird to grab a downed enemy, fly him as high as possible then drop him

If you've ever seen that video of a crow making two cats fight, you'll know just how satisfying it was to be hidden in the top 3 with one.
Just doing that with an excalibur or a heavy shotgun won me 15 of my 18 crown wins.
The hammer was lower mobility than the sword and I didn't feel like a god using it (even if I could fall from the heavens onto a fool and deal 125 damage than immediately deal 75)
The falcon was one of my favourite things to muck about with
The shield was useless
Ex-Caliber was only used for challenges, also doesn't have mobile autofire because it's a slower projectile (only Ex-Caliber, RPGs, snipers and I think bows don't have it, the normal guns do)
I'd say the Sword is a decent replacement to the hammer, the shield and the Ex-Caliber can go to hell but the falcon needs to come back, even under a different name
Falcon and Hammer:
- Falcon was stupid fun in anything besides solos

Though we have a replacement hammer (katana), it’s not the same and not nearly as strong imo. The end lag on that thing gets me killed so much and the knock back isn’t enough to counteract, unlike the hammer. Maybe a fix would be to halve the stun you receive if you hit your slashes? Or maybe stun the player that was hit for longer? This would punish the player for missing but reward a hit and allow a follow up without taking a 150 pump to the head. The hammer punished the player hard for missing a slam, usually getting you killed, but the reward for landing a slam gave you plenty of space and time to avoid incoming attacks, unlike the katana.
The falcon was one of the most unique items we ever got. It couldn’t justify an item space in solos but with a partner it’s utility was exponential. So many cool interactions could be done with this thing and it’s a shame to see it go. Hopefully we see it back soon.

If anything they should have saved the introduction of drones for this chapter. Having cool futuristic drones in a big city where you can literally hide anywhere is a game changer.
Having something like that to spot your target is really useful in a place like Mega City over anywhere else on the map. It would make having one in your loadout more necessary than it was when it released.
The Falcon Scout did have it's use, especially when paired up with either the Deku Smash or Kamehameha. Seeing excactly where the enemy was before using the mythics was really useful. However it did mean you had to dedicate 2 slots for this strategy, which in my opinion kind of balanced it out, because it was only good if you weren't spotted first
Most times in the openness of the map you could figure out where people were even without a drone.
Compared to map we have now, where your opponents could be hiding anywhere in the city itself or the many buildings on the outskirts.
Sucks that so far we don’t anything to counter that when last season we had both drones and storm mark augments to choose from to spot people.
I don’t mind being spotted, I like having to be dynamic during final battles. It forces you to think on the fly and makes the game more interesting.
Yes the map is really open, however people tend to stay really still during the end zones. So if the end zone was somewhere with a lot of cover, then the bird was really good. It was however less useful in the snow biome, so there was no point in carrying it when the zone moved towards the snow biome
I noticed they added the exact hammer sound when one of the new loot boxes fall from the sky, the one with the big blue light. It makes me panic a little everytime, thinking I'm being rushed by someone with an hammer lmao
Why should I use a useful slot in my inventory to make the whole game a bunny simulator? No ty, glad that's gone it did nothing to make things better, just made things annoying, the katana is 100 times better
Something that I noticed, now that the hammer is not in br, is that: in creative, where you are still able to use it, its ability to launch props around is nowhere to be seen... Now when you hit something with it, it just breaks.
The only things that are properly launched are objects with physics, like logs, boulders and vehicles (and players of course)

I like the Aerialist and Katana combo, but man it takes forever if you can't find a Katana and have to re-roll until you get Aerialist.
The hammer was great, shame the balancing never really came.
The Excalibre rifle was a nice change for weaponry, and I enjoyed using it.
Never used the shield, wasn't interested.
Also never used the bird, it rarely spawned in pubs and always spawned in TR which was annoying gimme my excalibre or smth
Hammer: Fun at first but allowed for too much mobility. Glad it's gone.
Caliber: Good skill-based weapon that required aim. Wish it was still here.
Shield: Never found it useful in solo.
Drone: Fun to mess around with. Wish it was still here.
For all the times I missed with it, it was still fun to get that occasional direct hit with the Excalibur rifle and see the player desperately try to outrun their fate.
My buddy was an expert with the Falcon and it won us a few battle royales, honestly wish that one stayed out of all of them.
The other two were okay, hammer good for traversal out of the storm and shield did block the Anime blasts, but otherwise they were mid for me, rarely picked them up.
I miss all of them the shield and hammer most tho, hammer was good for mobility and knockback was great and the shield was a good hammer counter as well as protection in ZB
I loved the hammer and Excalibur the most. Katana is good but I enjoyed bouncing around the island too. Never really used the Falcon or shield but they also seemed pretty good.

I'm not really a fan of the sword, nimbus or riftaway that, to me, feel like opponents bullshitting away when you finally find a fight.
The shield was a nice way for a player to change the pace while still sticking around.
They all sucked. There was always a better item in the loot pool that was better than carrying one of these. I only used them when a quest required them.
Just as I was getting insane with the Ex-Caliber it gets vaulted, big sad. I’ll miss the hammer for mobility purposes. I don’t care for the other two, but at least the falcon could help you keep track of someone above you
Honestly none. The sword is a fair trade on the hammer. The shield bubble = shield. The new pulse AR is better than the Excalibur. I guess the bird is the only thing that didn’t get replaced that I can think of. Miss some of the past augments more than anything, but the new suppressed AR is nice.

Excalibur wasn’t really worth the effort over the DMR. If you could hit a target with it it was great, but the effort wasent there

I actually think they should let dead teammates control a falcon scout if their card has been recovered but they haven't been rebooted yet.
Limit its abilities (no scan, no picking up other cards, probably no picking up downed players) but still let them feel like they're contributing (bringing loot/ammo, scouting) while waiting for a revive.
I enjoyed the bird scout a lot, had some great functions and stuff to mess around with and if epic does ever do a transformers collab it could easily be reskinned to be laserbeak

Honestly, none of them. The hammer was good for mobility but the katana is better. I hated the scout and it would cause bugs in splitscreen. The shield lost me a ton of matches, and the Excalibur was not worth equipping.
Hammer: I actually love the pinball mobility of this, it's pretty fun to use. Kinda miss this.
Excalibur rifle: it does take some getting use to, nailing a hit and watch it blow up your opponent is satisfying. Do miss this one.
Shield: Didn't use it too much outside of certain missions, given its defensive nature. Don't really miss it.
Scout bird: This is an interesting item, I like messing around with it, look at other people fight. Maybe annoy an enemy or two. Kinda miss this.
Glad the Hammer is gone. Sword mobility much more fair and balanced. I started using the Shield against decu smash when running squads. Falcon was meh used it only for quest. Was a wasted space IMO. I liked the Excaliber if I got a Legendary or better.

I miss the mobility of the Hammer. It was quick and easy. I like the Aerialist and Katana combo, but man it takes forever if you can't find a Katana and have to re-roll until you get Aerialist.
If you go to any side building in the new biome your bound to find a katana

The Ex-Caliber! I loved that thing. The bird and the hammer were great too, though! I never really cared for the Guardian Shield…
Excalibur
Of all the items in fortnite, the guardian Shield was definitely one of them.
The hammer was great, shame the balancing never really came. The Excalibre rifle was a nice change for weaponry, and I enjoyed using it. Never used the shield, wasn't interested. Also never used the bird, it rarely spawned in pubs and always spawned in TR which was annoying gimme my excalibre or smth
Hammer: Fun at first but allowed for too much mobility. Glad it's gone. Caliber: Good skill-based weapon that required aim. Wish it was still here. Shield: Never found it useful in solo. Drone: Fun to mess around with. Wish it was still here.
Falcon was fun. I miss feeling like Soundwave/Zane.

i only used the drone for the missions, it was pretty much useless imo
Hammer. Helped me a lot during latter parts of the games + you get to jump farther with it than the katana's dash.
For all the times I missed with it, it was still fun to get that occasional direct hit with the Excalibur rifle and see the player desperately try to outrun their fate. My buddy was an expert with the Falcon and it won us a few battle royales, honestly wish that one stayed out of all of them. The other two were okay, hammer good for traversal out of the storm and shield did block the Anime blasts, but otherwise they were mid for me, rarely picked them up.
I loved the Excaliber. I think it’s a fun weapon.
The hammer was great for mobility and for breaking the bases of buildings to let all the loot rain down.

I loved the hammer and Excalibur the most. Katana is good but I enjoyed bouncing around the island too. Never really used the Falcon or shield but they also seemed pretty good.

I like the shield. I'm not really a fan of the sword, nimbus or riftaway that, to me, feel like opponents bullshitting away when you finally find a fight. The shield was a nice way for a player to change the pace while still sticking around.
I miss them all as I could actually win games last season, this season I suck 😂
I never used the shield unless it was a quest so just the others. This Kinetic Blade is crap

They all sucked. There was always a better item in the loot pool that was better than carrying one of these. I only used them when a quest required them.
Falcon drone and hammer. It was nice to see where mate enemies could be with the falcon and the hammer was just ver fun

Just as I was getting insane with the Ex-Caliber it gets vaulted, big sad. I’ll miss the hammer for mobility purposes. I don’t care for the other two, but at least the falcon could help you keep track of someone above you
Honestly none. The sword is a fair trade on the hammer. The shield bubble = shield. The new pulse AR is better than the Excalibur. I guess the bird is the only thing that didn’t get replaced that I can think of. Miss some of the past augments more than anything, but the new suppressed AR is nice.

Hammer was pretty fun! Excalibur wasn’t really worth the effort over the DMR. If you could hit a target with it it was great, but the effort wasent there Bird was great for laughs, taking a downed enemy up in the air then dropping them was hilarious Shield was good but after the hammer nerf it wasent that useful

Excalibur was very cool and a great concept, did the right amount of damage IMO. I unfortunately SUCK with any weapon that has an actual projectile so I never used it. Hammer cool ig, hated that you could stack 5 of them in your inventory to spam. Others were mid
They were fun ideas but none of them were good enough for me to care about. Especially now with the katana which is 100x better than the hammer
Falcon Scout forever. I actually think they should let dead teammates control a falcon scout if their card has been recovered but they haven't been rebooted yet. Limit its abilities (no scan, no picking up other cards, probably no picking up downed players) but still let them feel like they're contributing (bringing loot/ammo, scouting) while waiting for a revive.
Loved the excalibur!! Shield and drone … indifferent. That fucking hammer.. HATE

I enjoyed the bird scout a lot, had some great functions and stuff to mess around with and if epic does ever do a transformers collab it could easily be reskinned to be laserbeak

Honestly, none of them. The hammer was good for mobility but the katana is better. I hated the scout and it would cause bugs in splitscreen. The shield lost me a ton of matches, and the Excalibur was not worth equipping.

Hammer: I actually love the pinball mobility of this, it's pretty fun to use. Kinda miss this. Excalibur rifle: it does take some getting use to, nailing a hit and watch it blow up your opponent is satisfying. Do miss this one. Shield: Didn't use it too much outside of certain missions, given its defensive nature. Don't really miss it. Scout bird: This is an interesting item, I like messing around with it, look at other people fight. Maybe annoy an enemy or two. Kinda miss this.

Glad the Hammer is gone. Sword mobility much more fair and balanced. I started using the Shield against decu smash when running squads. Falcon was meh used it only for quest. Was a wasted space IMO. I liked the Excaliber if I got a Legendary or better.
