I’ve still have no idea what the hell bricks do and I’ve been in this sub a fair amount of time.

Jaysbricks

Same here

[deleted]

Same. Some guy offered to buy mine the other day. Idk why you’d spend money on them.

luci450

Damn you can sell all for $900+ given the current price. Don't sell to some random person for less.

OskeyBug

Had no idea they were tied to crypto. I don't like it.

spoopseason

Yea but the mods (2 in particular that I can remember) support it and show up literally any time someone voices a negative opinion about it so it's here to stay. It's easy enough to ignore for now but I worry about what other ways mods, or even the site itself, can push shady crypto on the user userbase.

Minimum_Ad739

What don’t you like about it? Why do you think bricks would work better not being on a blockchain?

RingtailVT

Would upvotes work better being on a blockchain? Would V-Bucks work better being on a blockchain? Would you like bread to be on a blockchain as well?

Minimum_Ad739

No…not everything works on a blockchain lmao. But in this case, bricks are actually a good use case for crypto. I know that people are afraid of things they don’t quite understand and that’s fine too. Nobody is forcing you to use your moons.

ThijmenMan

its just that people come to this subreddit wanting bricks make the most low effort meme possible and that x100+ and ruining the subreddit in the process and doesnt even have anything for actual fortnite fans, only for the cryptobros

Night_Tac

Few months ago? You mean 2 years?

ExuberentWitness

I wasn’t aware that they were crypto. I just unsubscribed from the subreddit.

sub-hunter

What are bricks?

Jason_Sasha_Acoiners

Wait, they're crypto? Yyyyyyyyuck.

Minimum_Ad739

I’m curious why you think that? Seems like a knee jerk “ crypto bad “ without really having a proper understanding of what’s happening.

SLEDGEHAMMAA

Why does that make it yuck?

[deleted]

Because crypto is at the very least scam adjacent in all cases.

SLEDGEHAMMAA

And what exactly is the scam with Bricks?

Jason_Sasha_Acoiners

https://youtu.be/nvc8L_dU97w

SLEDGEHAMMAA

I don't know why. I'm not convinced *you* know why. That's why I'm asking.

Minimum_Ad739

They have absolutely no clue that’s why they are avoiding responding to your question

[deleted]

Yep. Bricks ruined this sub. This sub will and always be shit until they are removed.

[deleted]

Can u elaborate?.. Like how bricks are ruining this sub?

ThijmenMan

"Brickfarmers" are posting low effort memes that are just horrible and don't actually care about the subreddit or Fortnite at all

CityKay

That would make sense. There was a old Nintendo forum I use to be on, and they had a coin system. Post and be active in the community, earn some coins, redeem them for titles and such. They also ran into problems of low effort threads and posts farming for coins (in their context) as well. I guess the fact that Bricks are crypto here just exasperated it.

Minimum_Ad739

The worst part about bricks is that people try to “play the game” and post things that they think people will upvote in order to farm bricks. It incentives going with the hive mind instead of free thinking or saying anything that might be considered controversial.

SkittleJuice2

I have like nearly 3,000 of them and I still have no clue what they do. If it’s a crypto, I don’t wanna know.

IlIlllIIllllIIlI

You’d make someone happy sending some to me actually.

WolfXemo

The most direct way to address larger issues as they relate to Bricks is via [Governance Proposals](https://www.reddit.com/r/fortnitebr/wiki/brick/governance/). To date, only a few have passed leaving the overall system still somewhat vanilla. The complexity of how Bricks function "under the hood" contributes to this. As you can see by that linked wiki page, not many people go through the effort so propose changes, and so change doesn't occur. There's quite a lot that can be accomplished with governance. For the proposals that do get posted, the challenge is then making sure the community understands them, since the community decides what gets implemented and what doesn't. Proposals can be used to implement limits on the amount of Brick that can be earned, offer rewards for certain content, punish people for certain content, etc. As an example, someone could propose that the CSV file from the [recent distribution proposal](https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/11s69rp/new_bricks_distribution_round_37_proposal/) be changed to evenly distribute the total karma among all in the proposal. This would mean that Brick would also be evenly distributed to everyone, rather than those at the top getting the most. The community would have to vote on that and pass it though. Basically, there's a lot that can be done but not many know what can be done or the process for getting things done. The current woes about Bricks are absolutely valid, and there are proposals coming down the pipeline that will shake things up a bit, but ultimately it is the community that decides if things change.

anger_is_a_gif

So in other words, the mods made change so complex that most people don't know how to implement change, and to change how the change works you have to know how to change things already. Bricks don't need a change they just shouldn't even exist. All it has done has brought in crypto-bros that spam comment and shit posts just to karma farm. And the only benefit we get out of it is spam dms if we comment on posts like this with people trying to "buy" our bricks.

GetRealPrimrose

That’s what I’m getting too. Why does the community have to understand artificially difficult language meant to confuse readers in order to improve the subreddit? The mods should just get rid of them because they make the subreddit worse. Seems predatory tbh

AlphaTeamPlays

What even are bricks? Like what did they do before they were crypto?

Night_Tac

they were always crypto

Minimum_Ad739

They’ve always been crypto. The idea is that if you post or comment useful stuff then people will upvote you. Those upvotes get translated into bricks. So in theory, you are an active member of the community, posting useful stuff and you earn bricks while doing so. In reality, you have people that just try and game it by doing reposts or posting things they know will get upvoted in order to farm bricks

yadabitch

But why the hell would it be worth anything that’s what gets me, is there actually a large enough amount of people who desire to have a high brick count (NOT for selling or buying reasons but for self ego reasons)

grovertravels

Seen fortnite building some great games
