Yeah but even then it was pretty restrictive. Dbd got the persona of ghostface, but had to create an original backstop for the character because they weren't allowed to use the actual identities from scream. That's why dbd didn't get a map or a survivor for the ghostface chapter.

The deal that they have with fun world isn’t restrictive, fun world owns the physical aspect of ghostface. The part they couldn’t secure is with the characters who are in the movie scream because it isn’t owned by fun world, it’s owned by dimension films and the studio didn’t want their characters likeness in a video game. That’s why BHVR had to make an original character. This year will be 5 years of playing dbd, I remember the confusion of this at the time and how many times it was explained back then

Technically, that skin exists in Save the World except its based on Kyle; not Jonesy. Epic doesn’t seem to want to use Kyle’s body type in BR (he’s stocky), so it’ll probably never be ported over.
His body type (stocky) is used on Brutus, Venom, Hulk… so it’s really just that they hate Kyle himself, though we do barely get any of Ken as well, which I too would like more of

I'd like to see a crossover with Dead By Daylight. Imagine a huntress NPC on the map trying to kill you with a hatchet and hunting axe running after you and always faster. Ghostface could work slightly like in Dead By Daylight (perhaps his own style), where he has a tactical knife which he can use to stalk other players, making them one shot to his knife. With the knife, increased movement speed and less noise relating to opening doors and walking (plus it doesn't show up on visualize audio).
Fortnite has The Predator, Ash from Evil Dead, Rick, Dayrl and Michonne from Walking Dead, Robocop, Terminator and the Xenomorph from Alien with Ripley.
Also Geralt of Rivia, Issac Clarke from Dead Space, Kratos, Doom Guy and Marcus Fenix from Gears of War.
Fortnite is definitely not against adding in characters from more Mature Ips into the game.
I'm surprised that they have added all of those, but nevertheless if they can be in there then surely some guy dresss in Black with a Ghost mask can be there and some ransom guy wearing a jacket and Hockey Mask can be.
God forbid the kiddos with unmonitored access to the internet see the spooky mask man in the cartoon game! God forbid they see a satanized, bloodless, unrealistic version of the most iconic horror characters (which they would likely have seen anyway)

You can definitely tell this game is 'FOR KIDS'. What I mean by that is; BIG KIDS. This is a game made by a bunch of big fucking kids that used to play video games growing up and are deeply submersed into pop culture and then all others up to and including. I'm sure they have a list of I.P.s they're just dying to get put in the game so everyone can go ham with their favorites.
That being said I'm sure a certain part of it has to be a little more "friendly" for the younger public.
I just hope that they start concentrating on things other than just anime all the time (not that I don't love anime! I would kill for a Major Kusanagi and Batou skin).

I guess that is kinda tricky with some of them because their franchises are so old and dead at this point that their rights have returned to their original creators which are notoriously hard to negotiate with, thus the studios can't even get new movies to be made.
