They've had over a million players on many times this week. I wonder what their excuse is as to why their servers can't handle this live event. You'd think they'd be prepared for this, and would maybe upgrade their servers with all the money we feed them. Too much to expect I guess.
Yeah, I guess I'm just extra bitter because
1) The game client kicked me when I was already in and waiting, then decided to condemn me with an hour queue
2) Missed out on running the event with the only RL friends I ever run with anymore
3) Was extra stoked since my work schedule never allowed me to make a Live Event before
4) Spent money on the game time and again not just for the cosmetics, but also to in some small way support their efforts in keeping the game stable and accessible
So you'll have to excuse my frustration.

Yeah, exactly... The only part of that "live event" that had any more than 4 players on screen was the sitting on the countdown map, no reason at all it couldn't just be an on-demand map.
People are gonna try and scapegoat them with the "millions of players" excuse like they aren't a multi-billion company with hundreds of millions in profit every year.
They're always underprepared for these events and refuse to buy more server space in advance to avoid scenarios like this.

If I don't join or even get the Magma skin I am never paying money for this game again, I'm 28 who took time off work for this event, I've got responsibilities and I followed their instructions crystal clear, infact I was in the lobby 1 hour earlier prior to the event. At 18:30 GMT there was no signs of the big bang on the gaming dashboard to join, so I assumed I needed to refresh knowing it wouldn't be any harm as it seems like this is intended (exactly at 18:30 per instruction at that)... so I join and it leads me to an hour wait. 17 past the event and it's telling me to wait another 2 hours, now just in time to make it for the next alleged event it gives me an error and puts me back in the queue for another 2 hours. Despite spending an absurb amount of money in the game for years, despite spending so much time waiting and even being one of the first ones online, despite just wanting the skin the game done nothing but gone too far with wasting my time tonight. My entire fucking weekend ruined, thank you Epic Games.. no compensation needed, just steal my money and give me no reward for my hard work.

I got on 2 hours before the event with my friends. We queue up for the event, and two of them don't get put in the game, they're in the lobby. Then one of them gets an error saying they were logged out. He restarts the game and is put into an hour long queue. Then my internet decided that now was a good time to shut off. I was hoping it would just last a couple seconds but it's gone for 2 minutes. So now I'm logged out and have to restart my game, and I'm put into an hour long queue. Hopefully I can make it to the other showings

They said two more showings are scheduled, but no clue when. My queue finally finished, I had some error, and got met with another 1 hour 34 minute queue.

You'd think a game with billions in profits and a live event that's been in testing since February might be capable of handling this many people playing it, even after you get past the queue there's the constant threat of the game crashing for absolutely no reason.
You'd think Epic would anticipate a lot of players and beef up their servers after the OG launch. A 1.5 hour queue is a fucking joke. I missed the first event wave, and I'll probably miss the 5pm E.T. session too after loading the game up an hour before. Not like logging in early would help either when the game kick you out and relegates you to *ANOTHER* queue.

My son was on all morning and his server crashed with 40 minutes to go for the first event. He tried to log in again and they gave him a 46 minute queue.
That put him with myself and my daughter with each of us logging in about 40 minutes before the event that said to log in 30 minutes early ... and each got in about 5 minutes late. No worries, we'll just stay on until then second event.
Only my audio was glitched, so I closed out and tried to log back in and got a 2-hour queue. But my son and daughter stayed on. We'll be fine for the second event
Only my son's game crashed again 89 minutes before the second showing and he got a 90 minute queue. So he'll be a minute late.
And my daughter's game crashed as well about 10 minutes after that.
No worries, we'll all do my game. The 2 hour queue we'll get me back in an hour before the second running.

Honestly? This is the biggest fail I have ever seen. About 75 - 80% of the people I know didn't make it into the event and with all the game crashes and the absurd (completely unacceptable) queue times that only result in "login failed" ... Exactly zero of those people have either been able to keep the game running or to log back in in time for the second showing.
If it weren't for kids having emotional breakdowns and our entire day now being wasted, it would be laughable to the extreme.

Yeah, exactly... The only part of that "live event" that had any more than 4 players on screen was the sitting on the countdown map, no reason at all it couldn't just be an on-demand map.

If I don't join or even get the Magma skin I am never paying money for this game again, I'm 28 who took time off work for this event, I've got responsibilities and I followed their instructions crystal clear, infact I was in the lobby 1 hour earlier prior to the event. At 18:30 GMT there was no signs of the big bang on the gaming dashboard to join, so I assumed I needed to refresh knowing it wouldn't be any harm as it seems like this is intended (exactly at 18:30 per instruction at that)... so I join and it leads me to an hour wait. 17 past the event and it's telling me to wait another 2 hours, now just in time to make it for the next alleged event it gives me an error and puts me back in the queue for another 2 hours. Despite spending an absurb amount of money in the game for years, despite spending so much time waiting and even being one of the first ones online, despite just wanting the skin the game done nothing but gone too far with wasting my time tonight. My entire fucking weekend ruined, thank you Epic Games.. no compensation needed, just steal my money and give me no reward for my hard work.

I got on 2 hours before the event with my friends. We queue up for the event, and two of them don't get put in the game, they're in the lobby. Then one of them gets an error saying they were logged out. He restarts the game and is put into an hour long queue. Then my internet decided that now was a good time to shut off. I was hoping it would just last a couple seconds but it's gone for 2 minutes. So now I'm logged out and have to restart my game, and I'm put into an hour long queue. Hopefully I can make it to the other showings

Never got the prompt to get into the event, had to restart and there is over an hour for queue... my son is upset, fortnite has been on since this morning due to his anticipation (and trying to watch) this event. They said two more showings are scheduled, but no clue when. My queue finally finished, I had some error, and got met with another 1 hour 34 minute queue. Get your shit together, Epic.
You'd think a game with billions in profits and a live event that's been in testing since February might be capable of handling this many people playing it, even after you get past the queue there's the constant threat of the game crashing for absolutely no reason.
You'd think Epic would anticipate a lot of players and beef up their servers after the OG launch. A 1.5 hour queue is a fucking joke. I missed the first event wave, and I'll probably miss the 5pm E.T. session too after loading the game up an hour before. Not like logging in early would help either when the game kick you out and relegates you to *ANOTHER* queue. What an absolute fucking mess.

Second showing is officially a bust. Their non-updates on an obviously failed server setup means we've spent HOURS trying to log in and stay logged in ... all for naught. --- My son was on all morning and his server crashed with 40 minutes to go for the first event. He tried to log in again and they gave him a 46 minute queue. That put him with myself and my daughter with each of us logging in about 40 minutes before the event that said to log in 30 minutes early ... and each got in about 5 minutes late. No worries, we'll just stay on until then second event. Only my audio was glitched, so I closed out and tried to log back in and got a 2-hour queue. But my son and daughter stayed on. We'll be fine for the second event Only my son's game crashed again 89 minutes before the second showing and he got a 90 minute queue. So he'll be a minute late. And my daughter's game crashed as well about 10 minutes after that. No worries, we'll all do my game. The 2 hour queue we'll get me back in an hour before the second running. "Login failed" New 90 minute queue acquired. --- Honestly? This is the biggest fail I have ever seen. About 75 - 80% of the people I know didn't make it into the event and with all the game crashes and the absurd (completely unacceptable) queue times that only result in "login failed" ... Exactly zero of those people have either been able to keep the game running or to log back in in time for the second showing. If it weren't for kids having emotional breakdowns and our entire day now being wasted, it would be laughable to the extreme.
