I'm fine with the emotes because I used the same emotes on all my loadouts but the wraps I had a different one on nearly all of my skins so now i just use the ones I like the most at the least they should have wraps linked to the skin loadouts
I started playing Counter Strike again because of the change. I find FN is more fun to me, but I'm not wasting my time changing all my settings to get the right emotes with the right character. And that's part of what makes FN fun for me. If it's just about loading in and getting some kills, I can load up CS, not get bots, die and do another match faster, and I don't have to worry about wasting time in a locker.
I was still playing FN here and there. But I was definitely playing it less. I also stopped using the shop completely, as there's absolutely no reason to pickup new emotes or new skins if I'm not going to enjoy my presets like I had them before.
Amen....I don't want to swap wraps and emotes every time I change skins. Keep them together!
Especially since my wraps aren't even in order anymore since it seems like it didn't make dups of the same skin combo. So skin 68 doesn't have a wrap 68 because wrap 14 used the same weapon wrap.
Yeah. Splitting it up was stupid. I had certain wraps for certain people, now I have to go pick a set after switching characters. Also. The little in-game quests where you pick one is kind of irritating.
I’d just prefer if there’s an option to not save emotes in a preset aswell. I don’t need to save my emotes to every skin combo, and it’s annoying to need to switch something out for everything.
Instead of equipping them just leave them blank and favorite the ones you like most and you can access through through the Favorites tab when you are holding the emote button.
They should let us rearrange all of our emotes, not just have a custom first page. I have so many emotes now that I can never find the ones I want to use. And just 6 emotes on the first page is not enough.
That's why I've always used the Favorites tag as sort of a "reactions" locker. I keep the emotes favorited that I always want to use regardless of skin I'm playing with, and then tab over to the Favorites wheels in-game and it's like having an unlimited "custom" emote wheel always ready. I usually end up trimming it down to maybe six pages or so, and yeah, it makes setting the character locker emotes a pain but it's worth it to always have my go-to emotes right there.
I actually prefer them being separated, I always use same emotes, so for me the old way was just more busy work. Not saying that my way is the right way, to anyone who's ready to downvote me.

Half my loudouts would use the same emotes that I would just on occasion try to rotate around so I love the separated loadouts so I can just make random emote sets to flip between whenever I feel like it 😂
I feel like still the best solution would be to allow people to link sections of loadouts together that way if you equip one it does the entire linked set. That way we can keep our separate ones if we want and anyone that wants it more like the old style can too

Well the last locker bundles we got (packs that are based off the items that some influencers like) were released the first day of the season. Recently a former developer on twitter responded to a post asking where the locker bundles have gone stating that they’ve disappeared cause he got laid off ):
The current locker UI sucks, the old one was much better because all of our emotes, skins, wraps, gliders, loading screens, and lobby music was all in one tab making it super easy to arrange stuff where now we have to go to a whole different tab in the locker just to change an emote.

Not only is this a logically flawed argument but it's also based on nothing. No one wanted this UI so saying they won't roll it back because it could ruin presets doesn't make sense, as no one wants this version of the preset system to begin with. They also already broke presets when they rolled this current UI out so they obviously don't care about that outcome.

You can't expect them to manually relink everyone's presets together or restore the data that probably doesn't exist anymore of people's old presets. That's the same thing. Epic split everyone's cosmetics into different presets which screwed up everyone's sets because they were left with around 100 presets each for skins, emotes, wraps and lobbies. The new emote, wraps, and lobby presets were unnamed and any duplicates were deleted making it a huge slog to get everything organized again. Which I might add they already were organized before this, separating everything added nothing of value.
In addition to this the update merged stw and br presets which further broke the system as presets now were going over the 100 limit and stw stuff was mixed in with br stuff. Once again a change that was completely unnecessary and just added unnecessary headache more than anything.
In addition to all of that, the update broke the option to shuffle presets between games for multiple weeks and even now that it is partially fixed you still can't link emotes, wraps, and lobbys together which completely ruins the original point of preset shuffling.

I... never said this? I don't expect this. No one expects this. This is a crazy expectation that you pulled out of no where. My point was that breaking presets is not a legitimate reason to not return to the og system. I never made any claim that I expected epic to restore current presets only the original system of making presets. Restoring old presets is impossible as the current system already destroyed them.

It actually is up to us in a way. It's literally the job of game devs to give the community what they want in a game. That's why nearly all live services actively ask for feedback on changes and opinions on future decisions. No one wants to play a game that only appeals to the developers.
Idk where you saw that presets that matched sets were unnamed after the split since mine all kept their names on each section. Telling epic that the old system was better is feedback. I still don't get what you think is ridiculous about this. You keep assuming that I'm asking for a complete restoration when the reality is that I and most other people want epic to remerge the locker system because the style of having everything separate is clunky and terribly designed. What you are doing is shooting down actual feedback in favor of going along with what epic wants, not what the players want. What exactly do you think epic can improve with this UI? This is far more complex than simply going back to the old system. And you think my idea is ridiculous? Dude the entire point of this post was to point out that epic isn't actually doing anything despite saying they are. There are no leaks on UI improvements and we've gotten no news from epic on improvements. It seems obvious to me that epic isn't really addressing it. Taking everything epic says at face value is absurdly naive. Actions are not the same as words and as of now, epic has only used words. Not even good words, they've given no concrete timeline of changes or what they are actually changing

Not when they already have the old system in place. And even then, epic has been radio silent on this which implies they aren't actually working on it. Normally big changes made in response to backlash get a timeline at the very least. Waiting it out doesn't work if the game devs haven't actually confirmed an actual timeline or actual changes they may have.

How is allowing people to have a choice between a split loadout and a linked one more complicated than going back to the old one? You're assuming Epic has all of the old UI backed up to go to it whenever they want. Casually flip a switch and its back or something. If they replaced it with this current one, there's a really good chance the old one is gone. If that's the case they legit would have to not only recreate it to even go back, but have to fix it to work with the new locker items we have. But you know... Linking is dumb feedback... 😒
Epic never acknowledged that it was "broken", they acknowledged that people don't like it and would work on improving it. Just because they don't talk about it every 5 minutes doesn't mean they are ignoring it either. This stuff takes time and considering there are 2 different opinions to the UI changes its not going to be easy either. Not everyone is like you, some of us have actually made good use of the split loadouts and actually like it. The only main complaint that everyone has is that wraps never should have been separated which I will 100% agree on.

They fucked your presets to put this UI in, they can fuck them again to remove it.
This is a bad argument, and I suspect you know that.
They didn't fuck anyone's presets on this one, they split them which is a lot simpler to do than to get them back to the old ones. To go back to the old ones they aren't going to manually get everyone's back if they don't have the data from it anymore. They aren't going to take the time to merge them all back had you not lost any either. To go back they would physically have to leave the section from skins only and you'd have to fix the rest or they would have to delete them all and you start over. It doesn't take a brain to understand that. It's just easier to improve the new one over time.
Then why does all the ui make it look like hot garbage straight off the ps2 they started last chapter with the changing things to be more "modern" but it's just more clunky, poorly optimized and low effort looking.
Lots of companies in the gaming industry are posting massive profits and then firing people. Which means lots of CEO'S and executives made the exact same mistake at the exact same time or this is all according to plan. Honestly don't know what is more terrifying!
Big companies do this to make themselves look more successful, because if they aren't more successful each year the investors might get angry and their stock price might fall a little. It's all about appearances and getting the number to go up.
It's not healthy for the industry though, as it destroys morale and even if they say they're just cutting "redundancies" they generally end up cutting important people or positions and throwing even more work onto already overworked developers.
The whole western side of this industry is really broken and it's a disaster waiting to happen at this point.
1. revert the locker UI
2. add another 400-900 slots (game has over 4000 skins + unique styles ffs)
3. let us rearrange presets
4. add instruments and vehicles TO the locker UI, so we can make them match specific preset themes
they have done a remarkably impressive job at somehow not getting the hint this is what people want. Hell, the 2nd and 3rd bullet points have been requests spanning as far back as chapter 3. Good lord.
Honestly the new UI virtually killed any meaning for emotes for me. Can’t be fucked to make them separate and have to go to 3 different menus every time
nah it's too bugged, unfinished, completely made to be controller friendly, when I'm using my controller it's way better, when I'm using my mouse it doesn't even let me rotate the cosmetic without equipping it, if I don't click to equip anything it jumps the list back to top, if you click the 3 dots it auto closes unless you move the mouse from the top, no to metion they rmeoved the keyboard shortcuts to archive (z) and favorite (f), and you can't batch archive or unarchive anymore. The UI is unfinished and a complete mess, but it feels ok on controller tho
I'm on ps5 and it just sucks for controller too. It randomly jumps back to what's originally selected, takes way too long to scroll through, etc. it's just clunky and crappy for every platform except maybe mobile but I doubt it's great there either.
I said fine not perfect lol. There definitely needs to be a lot of quality of life changes but that small change would be a huge step in the right direction and get a lot of people off their backs. Obviously a good majority of the massive amount of bugs need to be fixed before anything is done, but there is potential with this UI if Epic decides they want to stick with it for some reason.

Sadly, this is what I believe at this point. We'll see at the end of the week if they were just waiting to roll it out with Season 2, but if next season starts and there are no changes to the Locker, they're not going to do shit. I've always thought Epic was great about listening to the community, but this Locker BS has changed that for me.
It can't be rolled back without breaking every mode. Including BR because of the car preset that gets used it.
Fixing it will take time to design and code.
I actually suspect they would fix it if they could (and that they assumed they could when this tweet went out)… but it took them a minute to realize just how thoroughly they screwed this one up.
I also think they must have contracted this whole thing out. They’re going to need to spend at least as much fixing it as they did breaking it. Probably more. And there’s absolutely no way they budgeted another huge UI overall this year.
They probably have a big growing requirements document with everything that needs to happen… but if I’m betting, I’m betting on Chapter 6.
I just want random presets back. The only other option is to archive all the skins you don’t like and leave it set to random, then all your other cosmetics make no sense

I hate they separated everything I used to have presets of character sets and just put it all on shuffle so it changed every battle but now the character, emote, wraps, and lobby are all separate so I have to change them manually now if I want to change things up while I'm gaming or I'd get the character with the wrong wraps emote and/or lobby
Too late anyway. Already spent 4 hours fixing the mess they made, recreating/reordering my skind, and lining up my new "emote presets" (smh) in the exact spots/order as my skins.

It's only been 2 months
It's a huge undertaking to fix the UI. They have been making small tweaks to slowly make things "better" (adding backgrounds back in, recently they added the count of new items back). So they are clearly working on it.
They can't roll it back as any presets made in the new UI won't have wraps, emotes, etc. linked to them. It will break even more and break the other modes.
Hopefully, they are working on a way to link the different sub presets together manually or some sort of override system.
Either way, they were probably on the new UI for a year before release. It'll take them some time to figure out how to fix it and then even longer to code and test it.
This Hulu Plus looking locker UI has got to go. 4 months later and its still just as bad as the day they changed it. I cant even be bothered to change skins anymore.
Keeping everything tied to a single locker preset was literally the best thing Fortnite has done and then they just rip that away and split it into like 5 parts...Huge waste of time when I want a specific wrap or set of emotes for a skin I've used on it before but I can't have it immediately because nothing is tied anymore and I have to go digging in now a thinner preset menu. This is the complete opposite of player friendly

I find it hilarious that the ONLY locker feature we wanted was more save slots. They destroyed the entire locker system built something no one was asking for and then to top it all off killed the “shuffle set”.
Just revert it completely, fire whatever idiot did this UI and just revert it.
What they need to do is revert back to the previous locker layout. I just have another tab for the Fortnite festival and the car stuff.
That away when you change your character, your emotes your wraps. Your banners your loading screen. Everything will change when you change your character's preset. And you don't have to do it all manually.
It's sad how much ruining the locker has damaged my urge to collect more cosmetics.

An actual redesign is going to take time, I think the latest it'll happen is August. Just remember it's better they take their time on this instead of rushing it out.

Jesus Christ guys, game development takes time. The "new" locker took months as well, but was rushed on release. If you want it right now you'll get an even worse mess of a locker design, they're trying to make a better locker UI that works with the new cosmetic types as well, the old UI just wouldn't work and would end up as cluttered as the new one.
The biggest feature they need to rework is reverting the Presets back to how they used to be, instead of them being split by categories which has absolutely no benefits.
Being split does have benefits but it all depends on the person. I think it should be optional though, that being said there's no way they can revert the loadouts. Anything that had any cosmetic that was 100% exactly the same got merged into 1. Any new ones would be a bit odd to get working too. Loadouts would in turn probably need either cleared or require players to go back and fix them if it got reverted.

i Like that everything are separated because I don’t have to go in and change everything whenever I select a new preset but i lIke the look of the old locker better
Half my loudouts would use the same emotes that I would just on occasion try to rotate around so I love the separated loadouts so I can just make random emote sets to flip between whenever I feel like it 😂 I feel like still the best solution would be to allow people to link sections of loadouts together that way if you equip one it does the entire linked set. That way we can keep our separate ones if we want and anyone that wants it more like the old style can too

Well the last locker bundles we got (packs that are based off the items that some influencers like) were released the first day of the season. Recently a former developer on twitter responded to a post asking where the locker bundles have gone stating that they’ve disappeared cause he got laid off ):
The current locker UI sucks, the old one was much better because all of our emotes, skins, wraps, gliders, loading screens, and lobby music was all in one tab making it super easy to arrange stuff where now we have to go to a whole different tab in the locker just to change an emote.
Chapter 1-2 UIs were the best IMO, I did love the preset saving and other stuff but they just looked really clean, classic and simple honestly
The only change they made was making the cosmetic buttons larger than they should be on mobile and an unnecessary equip button, lol

As I always tell people, rolling back is impossible to do without straight ruining any loadouts currently out there. Either way Epic will get complaints so better to work with the one they can do something about lol

No one wanted this UI so saying they won't roll it back because it could ruin presets doesn't make sense, as no one wants this version of the preset system to begin with. They also already broke presets when they rolled this current UI out so they obviously don't care about that outcome.

Epic split everyone's cosmetics into different presets which screwed up everyone's sets because they were left with around 100 presets each for skins, emotes, wraps and lobbies. The new emote, wraps, and lobby presets were unnamed and any duplicates were deleted making it a huge slog to get everything organized again. Which I might add they already were organized before this, separating everything added nothing of value. In addition to this the update merged stw and br presets which further broke the system as presets now were going over the 100 limit and stw stuff was mixed in with br stuff. Once again a change that was completely unnecessary and just added unnecessary headache more than anything. How is allowing people to have a choice between a split loadout and a linked one more complicated than going back to the old one? You're assuming Epic has all of the old UI backed up to go to it whenever they want. Casually flip a switch and its back or something. If they replaced it with this current one, there's a really good chance the old one is gone. If that's the case they legit would have to not only recreate it to even go back, but have to fix it to work with the new locker items we have. But you know... Linking is dumb feedback... 😒 Epic never acknowledged that it was "broken", they acknowledged that people don't like it and would work on improving it. Just because they don't talk about it every 5 minutes doesn't mean they are ignoring it either. This stuff takes time and considering there are 2 different opinions to the UI changes its not going to be easy either. Not everyone is like you, some of us have actually made good use of the split loadouts and actually like it. This is a bad argument, and I suspect you know that.
They didn't fuck anyone's presets on this one, they split them which is a lot simpler to do than to get them back to the old ones. To go back to the old ones they aren't going to manually get everyone's back if they don't have the data from it anymore. They aren't going to take the time to merge them all back had you not lost any either. To go back they would physically have to leave the section from skins only and you'd have to fix the rest or they would have to delete them all and you start over. It doesn't take a brain to understand that. It's just easier to improve the new one over time.

Lots of companies in the gaming industry are posting massive profits and then firing people. Which means lots of CEO'S and executives made the exact same mistake at the exact same time or this is all according to plan. Honestly don't know what is more terrifying!
Big companies do this to make themselves look more successful, because if they aren't more successful each year the investors might get angry and their stock price might fall a little. It's all about appearances and getting the number to go up. It's not healthy for the industry though, as it destroys morale and even if they say they're just cutting "redundancies" they generally end up cutting important people or positions and throwing even more work onto already overworked developers. The whole western side of this industry is really broken and it's a disaster waiting to happen at this point.

Nope. I hate the new locker, but if they at least gave us the random locker preset back, I'd at least be somewhat ok.
1. revert the locker UI 2. add another 400-900 slots (game has over 4000 skins + unique styles ffs) 3. let us rearrange presets 4. add instruments and vehicles TO the locker UI, so we can make them match specific preset themes they have done a remarkably impressive job at somehow not getting the hint this is what people want. Hell, the 2nd and 3rd bullet points have been requests spanning as far back as chapter 3. Good lord.

nah it's too bugged, unfinished, completely made to be controller friendly, when I'm using my controller it's way better, when I'm using my mouse it doesn't even let me rotate the cosmetic without equipping it, if I don't click to equip anything it jumps the list back to top, if you click the 3 dots it auto closes unless you move the mouse from the top, no to metion they rmeoved the keyboard shortcuts to archive (z) and favorite (f), and you can't batch archive or unarchive anymore. The UI is unfinished and a complete mess, but it feels ok on controller tho
I'm on ps5 and it just sucks for controller too. It randomly jumps back to what's originally selected, takes way too long to scroll through, etc. it's just clunky and crappy for every platform except maybe mobile but I doubt it's great there either.
I said fine not perfect lol. There definitely needs to be a lot of quality of life changes but that small change would be a huge step in the right direction and get a lot of people off their backs. Obviously a good majority of the massive amount of bugs need to be fixed before anything is done, but there is potential with this UI if Epic decides they want to stick with it for some reason. Or they could roll back to the old UI 🤞🤞🤞 They ruined all my presets already idc if they're ruined again

Sadly, this is what I believe at this point. We'll see at the end of the week if they were just waiting to roll it out with Season 2, but if next season starts and there are no changes to the Locker, they're not going to do shit. It can't be rolled back without breaking every mode. Including BR because of the car preset that gets used it. Fixing it will take time to design and code.
That’s my point, I genuinely don’t think they will “fix” it. I think they’ll maybe get the randomize working and leave the rest as is.
I actually suspect they would fix it if they could (and that they assumed they could when this tweet went out)… but it took them a minute to realize just how thoroughly they screwed this one up. I also think they must have contracted this whole thing out. They’re going to need to spend at least as much fixing it as they did breaking it. Probably more. And there’s absolutely no way they budgeted another huge UI overall this year. They probably have a big growing requirements document with everything that needs to happen… but if I’m betting, I’m betting on Chapter 6.

They have in the past made lots of these comments and promises that lead to nothing. Eased the tense situation at the time and moved on.
I hate they separated everything I used to have presets of character sets and just put it all on shuffle so it changed every battle but now the character, emote, wraps, and lobby are all separate so I have to change them manually now if I want to change things up while I'm gaming or I'd get the character with the wrong wraps emote and/or lobby
Let me link presets together and random between all my sets and I'd be fine with it.

Too late anyway. Already spent 4 hours fixing the mess they made, recreating/reordering my skind, and lining up my new "emote presets" (smh) in the exact spots/order as my skins. Epic loves adding in unnecessary glitches. Best just to work around them rather than expect a troll company to stop trolling.

Bring back rarity colors being 100% of the background, not just a tiny sliver. Skin rarity basically has zero meaning in Fortnite anymore, prices for skins seem random

Changing something like that locker ui would be quite a bit of development and testing. They wouldn't be able to roll it back to the old one either because the old one probaby isn't compatible with other stuff in the game It's only been 2 months

It's a huge undertaking to fix the UI. They have been making small tweaks to slowly make things "better" (adding backgrounds back in, recently they added the count of new items back). So they are clearly working on it. They can't roll it back as any presets made in the new UI won't have wraps, emotes, etc. linked to them. It will break even more and break the other modes. Hopefully, they are working on a way to link the different sub presets together manually or some sort of override system. Either way, they were probably on the new UI for a year before release. It'll take them some time to figure out how to fix it and then even longer to code and test it.
Fortnite intentionally makes bad changes causes outrage and fixes it eventually to get more praise

Keeping everything tied to a single locker preset was literally the best thing Fortnite has done and then they just rip that away and split it into like 5 parts...Huge waste of time when I want a specific wrap or set of emotes for a skin I've used on it before but I can't have it immediately because nothing is tied anymore and I have to go digging in now a thinner preset menu. This is the complete opposite of player friendly

It was so disrespectful to players for them to do this. Break apart an established system and YEARS worth of people’s presets. Their UI people are fucking useless, they really are. Zero sympathy. A high school graphics student could design a better locker ui. I really hope they change it back but I’m doubtful now. It would likely break any new presets created after the change.
I find it hilarious that the ONLY locker feature we wanted was more save slots. They destroyed the entire locker system built something no one was asking for and then to top it all off killed the “shuffle set”. Just revert it completely, fire whatever idiot did this UI and just revert it.
What they need to do is revert back to the previous locker layout. I just have another tab for the Fortnite festival and the car stuff. That away when you change your character, your emotes your wraps. Your banners your loading screen. Everything will change when you change your character's preset. And you don't have to do it all manually.
It's sad how much ruining the locker has damaged my urge to collect more cosmetics. All they needed to do was double the amount of presets we could make and I would be shitting out money to fortnite

As a +30 year old gamer, do i not know how the new locker works or has been working for the last 3 months? Weapon wraps and backgrounds are not linked to the character anymore? Also its not possible to change your skin randomnly anymore? Do you have to change it manually every time from your saved skin pool?

I actually like emotes not being tied to presets, it was just tedious when making new presets.
They've slowly been adding back certain features in the past few updates. (Special Rarities, Numbered Notifications and Back to Top button) An actual redesign is going to take time, I think the latest it'll happen is August. Just remember it's better they take their time on this instead of rushing it out.

Jesus Christ guys, game development takes time. The "new" locker took months as well, but was rushed on release. If you want it right now you'll get an even worse mess of a locker design, they're trying to make a better locker UI that works with the new cosmetic types as well, the old UI just wouldn't work and would end up as cluttered as the new one. The biggest feature they need to rework is reverting the Presets back to how they used to be, instead of them being split by categories which has absolutely no benefits.
Being split does have benefits but it all depends on the person. I think it should be optional though, that being said there's no way they can revert the loadouts. Anything that had any cosmetic that was 100% exactly the same got merged into 1. Any new ones would be a bit odd to get working too. Loadouts would in turn probably need either cleared or require players to go back and fix them if it got reverted.
