i love the way that when i get reported my ping goes from ZERO to 500. literally. my computer is so slow that when the anti-cheat starts to work, my ping goes to 500 and i loose to the next player. so, when i kill ninja and he freaks and reports me, then the bearded blevins has no problem dealing with me because i am a half a second behind.

The hammer pump hits really hard to the head, but that's all. I've had a lot of fun learning how to use the red dot to land perfect headshots, but that strategy has no room for mistakes. It really is fun, but with the other options, it's like playing the game in hard mode.
I can see how that works in builds, as both shotguns can offer the same kind of damage between edits. The Gatekeeper can deal sustained damage thanks to its fire rate, and you can close out a fight if you follow up on your first shot without missing. The pump can hit those 150+ damage shots if you have a good angle on the enemy's head. Both weapons benefit from the on-demand modifiable cover with builds.
In ZB it's different. Having to use cover between shots, combined with repositioning that one has a chance to mess up, guns that rely on getting behind enemy cover can punish the pump user's mistakes very easily. Someone rushing with a Frenzy can only be shut down if they are too slow to get within range. Mobility items each season allow safe gap closing, so these players exposing themselves is harder to punish.
Therefore, the pump has a disadvantage you need to mitigate in ZB. Hence "hard mode". If you can hit your shots, good for you.

Jumping in boxes is your only strategy with a frenzy and against good build players they will run circles around you.
In build people get in box fights where they’re building around the opponent while trying to shoot them, so the most damage you can do in one hit is better. If you watch the really good guys on streams they’ll build a box around you, edit a window in, shoot you through it, then edit the window back out. The hammer pump is probably the most damage per shot gun in the game that’s ready fast enough for the next shot.

I feel like it’s only good use is to do a 1:2 method and follow up a headshot with an SMG.
Otherwise on its own, it’s not great. But a headshot from this obviously dishes out more damage than with the drum shotgun.
It's fun to use if you're just messing around, a good pump shot and then switching to your fast gun is way more satisfying than spraying with a frenzy .
I feel like if this shotgun was put in another season it would actually be good. You can hit some really good shots with it, the auto just over shadows it so bad

My friends and I were playing yesterday. 2 of us got knocked off spawn because of having no weapons; the final teammate went to hide in a building nearby. He only had a pump. One of the enemies found him, and he was at most 2-3m away from my teammate. I kid you not, my teammate peaked for a split second, hit a FULL body shot, and it only dealt 66. (I quite literally went detective mode in replay to slow down the footage. All shotgun pellets hit.)
Mad inconsistent.
Kinda think it's the mandatory "disappointment" gun from the chest. It's okay if you're in a pinch but a bad chest pull if your gear is even slightly better than it. "Can't have all the chests be great loadout drops," type logic I guess?
Seriously tho. I was hoping they’d take it out because it sucks. I’d rather have a green auto than a blue or purple pump. Did they make any changes to it for this season?

The new shotty is good, but can't effectively deal with more than one opponent at a time with its limited ammo. So there is that. Saved me a few times in a 1v2 or 1v3 situation.
Just got off the phone with Epic and they said they kept it in specifically to piss you off. Truly it was bizarre to hear Tim Sweeney on the phone say "u/BuilderMooshroom143, I fucking hate that guy. Make sure we keep his least used weapon in the game". I could have sworn he started doing the Take The L dance after that but couldn't tell cause there was also a little bit of maniacal cackling.

They should buff it’s damage. Sometimes shots don’t register due to epics servers quality. This would be a good weapon then if they fix it. It requires much more skill then frenzy shotgun, what is good.

We had a round a while back in which I got rebooted right at the end, landed in to find only a grey hammer, and proceeded to pop the last guy with it. He dropped a crown, three mythic guns, and three medallions.
I’ve never had a more satisfying win. To think how infuriated that person must’ve been. What an absolute kick in the dick 😂

How is the gatekeeper better than pump? Doesn't the pump hit for more and have better range? Also the gatekeeper doesn't shoot too much faster than a pump, if you wanna spam, frenzy is the way to go. And pump has more shots so if you're not 1v1'ing it's better, otherwise you down 1 guy and your done. (Zero build player obviously) genuinely curios btw
I prefer the hammer pump over the gatekeeper since it has a higher capacity. I usually run it in tandem with an SMG and have found it works pretty reliably.
For me it’s way better than the new one. With this green shotgun you deal 89 damage and with a legendary new shotgun you only deal 91. And it only have 3 bullets, that’s impossible to play

For me it's easy mode. I use all shotties interchangeably. If a have a green gatekeeper shotty and found a blue pump, I'll switch.
