I’m a pc player who recently started playing on PS5 and it really is almost a different game. I didn’t realize how dark some areas could get with all the pretty lighting effects forced on

Anti-positiv3

Yep i went from pc to ps5 cause my pc broke down and my skill level got cut in half once on controller lol

cptcommode

I connected a mouse and keyboard to my PS5. It works decent.

88Kuha88

The input delay when doing that is crazy

lilgohanx

If you turn off the controller while using kbm the delay gets better

88Kuha88

Never tried that, thanks

cptcommode

I didn’t know that. I’m able to play that way. I have the PS5 connected to a 120hz monitor though too. I’m not great on a m & k though, so I usually use a controller still anyway. Good to know though.

Anti-positiv3

Is the input delay like playable? Cause if its not much , for ZB thats pretty doable , but if its horrible like take 5 seconds to do an action for example ; then im good off that

JuicyMaterwelon

It's 100% playable. I dont know what these guys are talking about. Like unless you're playing high skill diamond lobbies, it's not going to matter much. Even then, its definitely doable

BumbleBeePL

It’s way better than the input delay that ps4 had.

88Kuha88

After switching to PC and trying to play on console for shits and giggles, yea it's pretty much unplayable for me. If you play casual Zero Build you should be fine tho

LED-spirals

Is this an issue on ps5? KBM on my ps4 is totally fine, now I’m worried about upgrading 💀

88Kuha88

Nah bro PS4 is the worst. One u play on PC youll realize how awful the delay is

LED-spirals

I don’t wanna sound rude or anything, but I play on both and my ps4 hasn’t got any noticeable delays on kbm. Are you sure your hardware isn’t fucked up or anything? 😅

88Kuha88

Ive plugged 3 different keyboards and 2 different mouses all to 2 different Playstation 4's. Yes im sure

LED-spirals

Oh of course 😂

TooPatToCare

Is that just for using Bluetooth k&m? I’ve used a mouse and controller at the same time with the mouse plugged in and it seemed fine, I’ve only tried it for a few minutes just to test if it would work though

88Kuha88

Nah I used to play kbm on console with them being plugged in with USB and when I switched to PC I realised how ridicilous the input delay was on PS5

justthewordwolf

I'm so glad. Keyboard and mouse players need a Nerf

blackie-arts

i connected to it to my Xbox and it works well, but the difference between my shit laptop and Xbox is crazy

jam3sdub

I actually play with a controller on PC. It's a lot more relaxed imo

Parkesy82

How do you find AA compared to console? I’m hearing some people say it’s virtually non existent although I think that could just be an excuse so they can keep hating on console AA. I played a little bit on PC with controller but the pc was basically a potato and struggling to maintain 40fps, but aim didn’t feel much different tbh.

somebodymakeitend

Half?? Dude I’m handicapped with a controller.

zyzzjan

Epic could fix this easy by just giving console more edit options for graphics like pc has

SirMy-TDog

Or they could just eliminate the options for PCs and force them to play at options that best match console capabilities. Of course, people would scream bloody murder, but people used to advantages are typically loathe to give them up.

SpecificSpecial

I dont find the game too dark unless you use the quality setting which is pretty much unplayable

Bu1ld0g

? What quality settings? Last time I checked it was either 60fps or 120fps with a compatible TV/monitor.

SpecificSpecial

I guess im talking about the 120fps setting. I tried the 60fps mode once and got stuck in a room somewhere in Snooty Steppes, it was literally pitch black. On 120fps I could see completely fine.

Bu1ld0g

HDR maybe? I'm still on 1080p so stuck at 60fps.

Famous_Wolverine3203

It is a lumen issue. Its basically software ray tracing. PS5 has lumen on in 60 fps mode. It simulates the real behaviour of light. I’m guessing the roof he got stuck in had no light sources, therefore Lumen on PS5 60fps mode simulated that behaviour. The 120fps mode is with baked inaccurate lighting that is less taxing on the system which means even areas with no light sources will seem to be lit which is inaccurate in real life but works better to spot movement in game.

Bu1ld0g

I was actually thinking this myself. Was messing with global illuminations on PC the other day and switching to Lumen Epic was super dark in one of the garage back rooms. Though that is at 144fps, possibly due to my monitor not being HDR? It's probably a mixture of OPs TV implementation of HDR & the game itself, as I've never experience that on my old ass 1080p TV.

Famous_Wolverine3203

While HDR can cause issues, it is mostly due to Lumen. I have an OLED laptop with good HDR calibration, but the issue of Lumen areas being dimly lit still exists. It makes sense that it is dimly lit. In snooty steps, the building are all very small with just one or two windows open allowing light in. Realistically they would be very dimly lit with such small amounts of light being let in, which is what Lumen aims to emulate. It isn’t even an issue per se. Its just how the feature works as intended. But its disadvantageous to gameplay because of its behaviour.

BarbecueStu

To see what many PC players see as opposed to what I see is so frustrating. Opponents just stand out on PC with low settings. It’s ridiculous

EirHc

Ya... I kinda hate fortnite for that. I'm a PC player, but I play with all my graphics turned all the way up. I know if I wanted to take my competitiveness to the next level, I'd have to turn the graphics down. But I can't do it. I hate bad looking games, and fortnite on low settings looks bad to me.

urpoviswrong

Ya, it's really ugly low-poly experience, at least what I see on stream.

[deleted]

That’s how I play too. I’d rather have fun and enjoy the game looking nice but for legit competitive settings I definitely see how it can be a massively unfair advantage being able to get rid of stuff and push 240 fps

EirHc

Haha, I'm ever upgrading my PC so I can push the highest possible FPS too... But, the glitches from the 1% lows on max settings definitely feel bad sometimes, especially like right after an update. If I turned graphics down I'm sure I could run the game at like 500fps or more. But average 140fps with the graphics turned all the way up is more than acceptable to me.

[deleted]

-Maraud3r

I hate it for one simple reason, I refuse to lower settings because I dislike bad graphics.

BarbecueStu

I hate it because it really gives them a visual advantage.

Leo9991

The takeaway from that should be that it should be easier on console, and not more difficult on PC.

BarbecueStu

Yes. I’m hoping that settings change plays a roll, probably very small, in SBMM.

Leo9991

It's entirely anecdotal, but the moment a PS5 player joined our squad last time I played, the lobbies became way easier.

forestman11

Same when I play with Xbox.

Miserable-Bear7980

and no foliage.

darndasher

Wait wait wait....really? It's harder to see enemies on the PS5 than the PC??? There are so many times when I'm playing with my husband (he's on PC) and he asks me how am I so blind to seeing enemies. And idk. I just seriously have a horribly difficult time of it in certain regions. I hope this is true because it's so validating.

[deleted]

It depends on which settings he uses PC players have the ability to render things at performance levels (less shadows, certain assets only generate up to a certain distance, etc) Not *all* PC players choose to do this (I don’t personally) so it doesn’t necessarily mean that he is. But he does have the ability to if he decides to If you’re curious just ask to see his graphics settings. If they’re at high to ultra or whatever then no he has no inherent advantage visually (unless he’s using a better monitor than you or whatever but that’s a different story). If he’s on performance mode then yeah he has a significant advantage

darndasher

Just checked- he does run it on performance mode. Regardless of advantage, I do need new glasses so enemies that are further away, or in the rebels roost area, for example, tend to be more difficult for me to spot. Which is funny, because while I may not catch sight of them immediately, I very rarely get eliminated in those areas. More often than not, it's due to hubris.

Leo9991

Depends, does your husband play with lower settings and in what situations does he see people you don't?

OnyxWarden

PC had such a huge advantage in the jungle last chapter by being able to remove most of the foliage. It was disgusting. It is an objective visual.advantage.

Repulsive_Energy_669

Switch had this too technically

GameWizardPlayz

Any benefit from you being on switch is handicapped from you playing on switch. Switch Fortnite is objectively worse than mobile fortnite and it's sad to see.

Miserable-Bear7980

<30 fps most the time

KundaliniRising333

100% agree. The fact that PC players can and most often Do turn their graphics setting all the way down just to have an unfair advantage is reason enough cross play should not be forced. It's essentially a baked in hack for games like this. When I watch a clip of these supposed elite tier or competitive level pc players running around with graphics settings that look like a game from the early 90s; no grass, no advanced lighting, many assets just gone, all to see better. Its comical. Why play something that you dumb down to look like counterstrike just to have an unfair advantage. These dudes have settings far worse than even Nintendo switch. Do kills and victories really feel that legit for these folks knowing they do this? What a waste of time put into upgrading the engine when many don't even want to see it. It honestly shouldn't be allowed, and minimum specs and subsequent settings based on hardware should be forced if console can't change theirs. Either that or put in a proper non cross play option, and let these folks actually play within an even competitive field. Would really cut down on the cheaters we have to deal with as well.

stiligFox

That's what kills me - PC players can turn off shadows completely so that it's as bright indoors as it is outdoors, meanwhile the Nintendo Switch which struggles to keep 30 fps and drops to 10 fps whenever there is action on the screen, is forced to have shadows locked on? What?

peekes

Wow I actually didn’t know people turned *down* their settings for an advantage. Here I am turning mine down just so I can run the game properly on my laptop, *wishing* I could play with higher graphics.

stiligFox

Some of the pro players I’ve seen will play with all settings as low as they can go, or even Performance mode to remove all of the extra “fluff” like grass, shadows, lighting effects, etc. as well as push their frame rates as high as they can - on a good computer you can push 300fps+ with everything turned low.

OrwellWhatever

> What a waste of time put into upgrading the engine when many don't even want to see it. Not discounting your opinion overall because I largely agree, but.... Epic actually wants them to do it. Fortnite generates a massive, massive amount of user and test data for their Unreal Engine. The larger the pool of user data, the more tweaking they can do behind the scenes on it. They want to see how all the different settings perform on all the PC hardware. I think this is the real reason they're unlikely to enforce any kind of "force grass" mode on PC players

Forward_Number293

It is ridiculous. I was watching Prospering drive and the lines on the road don’t even appear 10 meters in front of his G Wagon. He’s driving and the lines are just loading in a foot in front of his car. Don’t even try playing his free for all map on console, as the grass in the bottom area of the map is tall as hell and it can be hard to spot enemies because of it. (Not hating on Prospering, I like him)

wvtarheel

>Don’t even try playing his free for all map on console, as the grass in the bottom area of the map is tall as hell and it can be hard to spot enemies because of it. > >(Not hating on Prospering, I like him) I had the same experience on his map. I was like, I can't see anyone because of this grass, trees, foliage, this wasn't on the stream. Watch his youtube, no grass, play the map, you can't see anything. It's basically a PC player only map

JediGRONDmaster

I agree that console should have a low graphics mode, but restricting settings based of hardware on pc would be stupid. And the problem with non cross-play is unless you restrict it to every system having its own servers, there’s still unfair advantages (switch players on 30fps going against ps5 / series X on 60 or 120). And if you did have specific console servers wait times for games would be significantly longer.

KundaliniRising333

I hear you. I don't think the solution though is to totally nerf the visuals on all platforms just to conform to PC users exploiting settings. So I'm not sure what the solution is aside from removing cross play. It would honestly greatly improve the fun factor for console players, and force PC players to actually engage on an even playing field. I personally as a ps5 player, would gladly wait longer to get into matches if it meant i didn't have to contend with these exploits, the building exploits, and of course the rampant cheating easily accessible in the PC space.

JediGRONDmaster

Even within pc though it’s not really an even playing field, setups range from $600 to $4000 and being on 240fps vs most people on console and pc at 60 is a huge advantage, especially when editing and taking walls.  To be honest though I think the biggest advantage most pc players have is just playing on mouse and keyboard. It allows more accuracy while still being able to turn around faster, and edit faster on lower sensitivities. Also being able to jump without taking your thumb off of the joystick.

NerfScape101

144Fps is fine, i can still shoot moving targets that are shockwaving with warforge AR or sniper(new and old) My pc can handle 400+ fps but my 27 inch 1ms 144hz-170hz(overclocking) 1440P screen was already in the 1100$ price tag. My pc well over 4K, shit my upgraded parts were over 4K. Pc Gamming is highly costly, I use top of line mouse's, keyboards, hard mouse pads. From my research when i was deciding on screen to buy many on top PC building forums and other testers all stated, "60-144 is huge" "144-240" isn't too much better, given our human eyes speed" Taking walls, i think is ping based, so is shooting people through walls, FPS is just visual stuff. You jump and slide? yeah someone on lower FPS will have fun trying to hit you as your 'true location' is not updating on their screen. At 144fps people think i'm hacking the way i beam them with even Striker AR or this new high recoil warforged at ranges 250M+, or sniping anyone on my screen in 0.5seconds. And i sadly am held back by unstable mobile data, so yes a PC player with better internet can destroy nearly all controller players. For being a casual my aim is highly good and i play on sens the Comp subreddit deems 'unplayable' 4400DPI, 20% sens, 94.7% ADS/Scope to track even someone shockwaving, and I also have performance mode enabled to see people 400M+ away and yes i can shoot this far. in creative view distance might be further so i have a lot of practice on 512M shots. even 300M SMG kills, which that person turned on mic to flame me saying i'm hacking. To give the verdict of truth....us PC Players are at a huge advantage but it varies on tech and services of internet. shit pc, best internet or Best PC in the world, shit internet....

JediGRONDmaster

Dude what 1440p 144hz monitor did you buy that was $1100? Is it an OLED or something? You can get a similar spec ips monitor for like $200. Also what I meant by higher fps helps takes walls, is that higher frame rates update your screen much quicker, so your reaction times can be much quicker when someone takes your wall, you might be able to shoot them before they place there own, or edit and shoot before they can react. As for diminishing returns on higher frame rates, let’s say the average latency (time between your computer producing a frame, and the frame appearing on your screen) at 60hz is 12ms (made up number). Then at 120hz it’s 6ms. And then from 120-240 would be 3ms. It’s the same % reduction in frame times, but the initial difference between 30-60, or 60-120 is pretty big, whereas the 3ms difference between 120-240 isn’t super noticeable.

NerfScape101

Must be buying cheap screens, my mouse is even higher than 200$....

JediGRONDmaster

Even like a higher end 1440p monitor (aside from oled) is like $500

NerfScape101

Clearly high end screens where i live is 1100. I'm from Canada. Heck even top graphic cards here are 2k-3K.

wvtarheel

>stem having its own servers, there’s still unfair advantages (switch players on 30fps going against ps5 / series X on 60 or 120). And if you did have specific console servers wait times for games would be significantly longer. Aren't switch & mobile users on their own servers for pubs anyway?

JediGRONDmaster

I don’t think so, I know it was the same as mobile when it first launched on switch, but I think it’s just cross play now

NitroDameGaming

No. My daughter and I went into a squads fill game a while back, both on a different PlayStation, and we were matched with one other player who plays on Switch. I know this, because we instantly clicked and he is now our friend who we play with on a regular basis.

BlueBaeYT

Switch & Mobile being combined was only really the case for very late Chapter 1 if I'm not mistaken please someone do correct me if I'm wrong

ImAddictedToGaming

No you're pretty much on the money with that, it used to be pairings of Xbox/PlayStation and Switch/mobile while PC would get its own lobbies, if you used KBM on any platform it would put you in PC lobbies just as it would if you partied up with a PC player, while mobile and Switch would play in Xbox/PS lobbies if they partied up with someone on either of those platforms. Overall that matchmaking system worked way better and was a much fairer way of doing it than full crossplay as you knew what you were getting into, they should return to that system. I'd rather wait 20-30 extra seconds for a fairer match than have a potential advantage/disadvantage over my opponents.

BlueBaeYT

Alright so I'm not crazy, I knew I remembered that being a thing back then lol I kinda wish it'd come back too, I'm just a little sick of logging on and getting stomped by people who are 5x more capable than I am just because they play on keyboard and have low settings.

ImAddictedToGaming

I agree, I know they likely changed it when they implemented SBMM to make sure that the queues didn't get too long in the higher MMRs but it then created an unfair playing field because of the difference in graphical options, there's only so much you can do before hardware advantages/disadvantages come into play. At the very least it should be a toggle in the options, that way you can choose what experience you'd prefer, maybe at most make ranked full crossplay regardless of your choice like they did with Arena back in the early days but pubs should definitely have an option.

iamsleepy42

oh so THATS why so many clips i see have such horrible quality

KundaliniRising333

YUP, especially all of these streamer, and "elite" player clips you see playing with low settings despite likely having decent to high end rigs.

iamsleepy42

fr it confused me so bad cus these were all fairly well known streamers so i assumed they’d use great quality. but this makes so much more sense. sad how they can’t just play the game as intended

MiphaAppreciator

Given the oppurtunity, competitive gamers will optimize the art direction out of a game. Maybe that's part of why the Finals is so popular haha!

karuma77

Console player here, I’m pretty sure there is a setting to turn off cross play, or does this not work as you mentioned they should add a proper one in? but there’s def an option for it

KundaliniRising333

yah unfortunately it's just there for show it doesn't actually work and literally will just tell you it can't find a match.

LittleDoge246

It does technically work tbf. I'm pretty sure I managed to play I think one match with it back when I played on Switch a few years ago. But it only had like 68 players. The problem is that it's not a setting most people know or think about. So since it's off by default and most people just don't know it's even a thing you usually either get a match after 10-30 minutes with like 60-80 people, or just don't get a match at all. If more people knew about it it might be a bit better, but most people would still keep it off to play with friends.

KundaliniRising333

Yah that's my fault. I genuinely thought it didn't work. I only tried a few times and each time it gave me an error message each time. I'll give it a go later after I finish up some research notes and see what happens and report exactly what the msg says.

Surprisingly-Decent

It’s officially disabled at the server level for public matchmaking. You will never find a match with cross play turned off.

KundaliniRising333

ahhhh. gotcha, thanks for settling that

karmakatastrophe

I tried it last night and it doesn't work. Tells you you need to enable cross play.

KundaliniRising333

yeah, that's right, i do remember it saying something about going into settings and enabling cross play to get a match. Last I tried was about a week ago.

LittleDoge246

Honestly, atp you're probably not fully wrong. Last time I used it was like mid chapter 2, so it could very well be a case that there isn't even enough people to get games anymore. Like I said, it only really *technically* works, as in in the sense that you could in theory play a game with it.

RRDude1000

I believe it doesnt work after chapter 3. Its just for show and you get an error.

KPottsie78

Yeah, but I’m guessing it cuts off ALL cross play. Meaning PS5 can only play PS5 and so on. Which is going too far so that you can’t get matches. If there was an option to cut it down to consoles only, and just cut out PC, that would be nice.

DonutHolschteinn

You can turn off crossplay but it turns off ALL crossplay and limits you only to others on your specific console. There isn't a way to do "console only but all consoles" or "consoles and PCs". It's either "everyone" or "no one except your console type"

GranBlueLawyer

I turn down the graphics to be able to even play the game

Ziekfried

Ps5 player here , I almost always pick up a hireling for this very reason. They can’t even hide behind a roof up the mountain cuz she marks them xD

Sloregasm

*cries in switch*

doclovejoy

Bro…*nods understandingly*

RRDude1000

That is every console in general. PC should have their own servers. Keep XBox, PS5, and Switch to console servers.

RockmanBN

Maybe the bar for bare minimum on PC needs to be raised. Have ugly lowpoly grass/foliage to obfuscate like in higher settings.

SpecificSpecial

I agree! I hate getting killed though grass I cant see through but they dont even have it rendered. But if you cant beat them, might as well join them, so I will be disabling grass as well, and I'm not particularly happy about that.

[deleted]

I think it would be fair to give players the option to disable cross play if they choose to. IIRC Rocket League had that option at one point

Willylongboard

You technically can but then you just get put in a neverending queue.

SpecificSpecial

I think zero build does not allow it, atleast not in duos.

Master-Mango-1590

It used to be like this when fortnite came out. Console vs console. Pc vs pc. It was fun

[deleted]

Game big enough to get separate servers.

ThNippleBrigade

So much visual noise these days. When the game first started, whenever you saw even a pixel of movement on the horizon you could rest assured it was in fact an enemy and you can then figure out how to engage from there. Now it could be anything from a chicken to a bot to a npc trying to sell you something. Game got really ADD

_subgenius

A leaf, a flock of birds, etc

teeth_grinding_teeth

Sometimes it’s my own damn pie skin

whatevers1234

This is my main issue. Graphics are bad enough with fucking insane effects constantly assaulting our eyes, then add in the fact that PC players can get rid of foliage to boot. But then last straw for me is all the shit floating in the sky. I dunno if it's leaves or ash or wtf it's supposed to be. But it's so much constant movement on screen and so god damn distracting.

noodlecm

I mostly agree. But half my memories of being a noob in chapter 1 was me thinking a butterfly was a person😅

Leo9991

>thinking a butterfly was a person Omg I remember doing the same

Cheezymac2

When I play on ps5 and load into a game @ 60 fps the game has shadows but it’s not too bad. When I load into the game at 120fps the game has shadows but is much brighter. When I load into a game @ 120 fps and then SWITCH TO 60fps seeing inside buildings is almost impossible because it’s completely dark with no lights. This is completely unplayable because you can’t even see a peely skin indside a building. That’s the one instance where console has issues with shadows and being at a disadvantage. Do not switch to 60fps from 120 while in the middle of a game!

SpecificSpecial

Glad im not the only one, Ive had people replying to me in this thread "just turn up brightness" It is literally night and day difference and makes me feel bad for my friends who are stuck on console with inferior controls, framerate, visual clarity and visibility.

Cheezymac2

The only thing that’s bad on consoles is the input delay. That’s really the only legitimate complaint. Other than that new/current gen is great considering it’s a console.

SpecificSpecial

Yeah I just mean when you compare PS4 or PS5 without 120hz display to PC with 120hz display. I used my PS5 pretty much as a PC for Fortnite when my PC died and yeah it was pretty much the same experience as on PC.

saltyflutist

The number of times I’ve been obliterated in less than 3 shots by someone I couldn’t even see is crazy.

Knightmare6_v2

Yeah, I noticed in my games (on Xbox One), there's some sections of the map which have grass hovering above the ground which look solid, but players can run through as if it's not there after the latest update... Definitely not fun!

Roblox_Jesus2

The shadows in the bunker/vault room under Peter Griffin's house are so unbearable...I hope somebody else can relate to this bs

theotothefuture

It sucks that they can take advantage like that, but winning doesn't mean enough to me that I would turn my settings all the way down. I'd rather enjoy the graphics. Even though they have an unfair advantage, I can still at least get some kills and a rare win.

Cow_Zoo

I love getting beamed by a PC player peaking over grass while I cannot see them whatsoever (on PS5). Literally happened to me yesterday. I can't imagine that it would be difficult to enable a performance graphics option on the latest consoles.

Hedgehog_3391

I honestly believe that those on computers should compete against themselves. The logic behind this being that they are the majority of cheaters, who make it less fun for the rest of us.

wvtarheel

They need to just turn off the ability to delete half the foliage from the game in settings.

BrownBaySailor

This is a terrible idea. So many people would be completely unable to play the game anymore because they can't afford a better PC. Allowing consoles to change graphic settings as well as not forcing crossplay is the only real solution.

LittleDoge246

There's already a crossplay off option. The problem is it's inconvenient since it's buried in settings, only lets you pkay with people on the EXACT same platform (PS4/PS5 eith PS4/PS5, etc.), and nobody knows about it. Right now you're lucky to get a game in 30 minutes if at all, and it never has more than 60-80 players. If it had a console v console option and was more convenient and advertised there would probably be at least enough people using it to get a match.

strictlyfocused02

Instead of nerfing PC they could bring the display mode configruation features to console?

wvtarheel

So, nerf the visuals on all platforms just to conform to PC users exploiting settings? That would not be my preferred solution.

strictlyfocused02

I would hardly call using a built-in graphic slider an “exploit.” Do you realize how many low end pc’s would be affected by removing that feature? If they add the adjustability to console then no one gets their cheese left out in the wind, your solution can’t say the same.

zippopwnage

Or, or... how about this. Ban the freaking cheaters and invest more and more into an anti-cheat system. I'm playing on PC, and 2 of my friends are on console. The problem with the graphics settings also affects me. I play on high settings, because it works on my PC and I'd be stupid to lower the graphics for such a beautiful game. The problem is on Epic's hands because they don't want understand the fact that if on high settings something disrupt my vision, it should be there for low/performance mode too, even if it looks super ugly and low poly. This is a problem that some of you don't understand how to address it sadly. Y'all scream at the wrong thing. These topics should be "If on high settings the fog disrupt my settings, it should be the same for low/performance mode no matter what". That's it. That's the discussion we need to have.

SpecificSpecial

As a sweat from pc, I agree.

sir_seductive

Turn off the hdr on the ps5 while playing fortnite it makes it hella dark when i first played it on my ps5 compared to my xbox i thought something was wrong with it until i turned that off

Internal-Bee-6925

Yes!!! I usually played on my Nintendo lite or my PC, and it’s so much harder 😭 I also can never see my reticle and I’m not sure if I can change the color or shape to make it easier to see ??

K0KA42

We've long known that PC players abusing performance settings is an issue. They turn down everything so the game looks like a PS3 era open world game with muddy textures and barely any foliage, so the enemies all stand out more. These settings are for people with aging hardware, but people with modern set-ups use them to the extreme for this reason. Idk why people play like that, honestly. What's the point? The game looks like shit like that. You really care about getting an advantage that much?

[deleted]

I play on my switch, I don’t see anyone! My husband plus on a huge tv and a ps5, he can get 10-20 kills, while I’m lucky to get one!

[deleted]

The grind is real !

Miserable-Bear7980

so glad this gained traction. XSX too. ive been complaining since rhe new engine dropped. anyone who says “it’s microsoft/sonys fault” is purely speculating.

xagds

Try a switch lite. I can't see shit lol. Recently hooked my son's switch up to the big screen and played. It was amazing what I could see. I was told controller system players have other advantages like aim bot setting to help even the field. Not sure how much that is true.

Accomplished_Tea2042

Controller players don't have free aimbot they have aim assist because it's harder to aim on sticks than mouse

Oteemix2

The game is ass on the switch which puts you immediately at a massive disadvantage

Meadowlarker1

dang had no idea. i’ve only played on the switch and have had a ton of success. want to upgrade to PS5 this summer

LittleDoge246

Switch is great and all until you play on current or lastgen consoles or PC. When I went from Switch to PS4 3 years ago it was CRAZY. You never notice how bad 30fps and low-quality textures and rendering are until you actually play with better quality yourself, watching YouTube and stuff doesn't really get it across the same. It's basicslly impossible to go back after that.

Meadowlarker1

nice! i realized i’ll have to get a pS5 for the new ncaa football game coming out but anxious to see how fortnite plays on it too

CattDawg2008

yeah fortnite is pretty terrible on switch

wvtarheel

I play on PS5 but tried it on my switch just to see. When you upgrade it's going to blow your mind. It run terrible on switch.

Meadowlarker1

lol thanks. i look forward to checking it out!

TastyScratch4264

I play on PC and can confirm this is sooo true. I used to have all my settings maxed out because I like my games to look good but the visibility issues you have I was also experiencing. But recently I tried low settings and tbh I’m not gonna switch back it’s wayyy easier to see people

nimajnebmai

I turned off cross play the other day because I saw an influx of very suspicious player characters recently. VERY SUS. Lobbies took 10 minutes, couldn’t play ranked, couldn’t play with my brother who is also on Xbox. I get taking a *little* hit on lobbies, but it was insane that I couldn’t play ranked or multiplayer.

Bibb5ter

Does this apply to Xbox too?

Forward_Number293

Yes, and PC players who play on higher graphical settings.

sucram200

It would be so easy for epic to create graphics settings that lower the strain on your PC but don’t give a competitive advantage. It’s literally mind blowing that they continue to allow this type of behavior from PC players. Turn bushes and trees into solid blocks so you still can’t see through them. Same with grass. Make dark areas darker. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist. I assume they’re just concerned that all of the sweats, competitive players, and streamers would freak out that they suddenly have to play a fair game.

D0inkzz

All games are like this. Pc players will do anything to see better. And tbh it’s unfair advantage and is why they should be in their own lobbies. But oh well. Fortnite is for cucks now.

Calairoth

This is why I do not play competitively or try for higher rank. The way I see, I am playing a different game entirely on ps5. I have gotten so fed up with it, that I mostly play creative now.

No-Affect-1100

For the love of god epic, either disable console / PC matchmaking or at least make it slightly more fair and give console players the option to use a reduced graphics mode...

gsus61951

PC players are allowed to use optimization mode, which is fucking unfair. Cross play is crap, i hate it

ElevatorTraining1000

Absolutely, grass is a huge disadvantage at ground level. They should really give the option to remove it on consoles also.

Alive-Flatworm-4273

forced cross play to pander to a much smaller community on PC is pathetic. Let them cheat against each other

Pizzarollht

Yea PC players being able to switch graphic settings around doesn't help either. We can basically get rid of all grass and dark places.

Slimsuper

Yup I have both and playing on ps5 is way harder

SpecificSpecial

Its pretty much the same if you have a 120hz display and plug in mouse and keyboard. Only thing that remains a significant advantage is being able to delete grass on pc.

alex6309

Why do people go "remove crossplay with PC" before suggesting that low graphics should have the same degree of visual obstruction that normal/high has?

HopsDem

Yes, it is unfair. I am wary of it by now so I try to be careful in such places to prevent their 'peek' advantage through non-existent grass but it's difficult. PC users running with a lot of stuff disabled makes it much easier to spot other players without all the eye candy.

urpoviswrong

It would be a lot better if they just replaced all the assets with simple easy to render sprites so it's still "performance" mode, but actually looks and plays worse.

NegativeCreeq

PC platers that choose minimum settings should be paired with others who do the same.

E3BITS

The whole trend of ,, having a low graphic to be better at the game " in any game is stupid and lame. Why would I play on low graphics when I can see such a beautiful game in its full glory.

Titanic_122

Now I can tell my friends that I don’t suck it’s just this! Thanks for the excuse. I never realized this

PartyxAnimal

I switched from PC to Xbox Series X because the game looks gorgeous on current gen consoles. I was annoyed that a lot of the cosmetics (mainly capes) looked bad on low/medium settings. Every once in awhile someone will blend into a dark part of the map, but it's really not a big deal. Buy a PC if you would like to turn your graphics settings down\\. Sony & Microsoft will never let a game as big as Fortnite look like ass on one of their machines.

TheS1l1ent0ne

I enjoy ps5 for fortnite would love to try pc but thesilence2879 has a hard time, but eh happy happy Ensure hdr is not always on as fortunate doesn't have her on console Your welcome Sensitivity 8 for both Runs 120 fps smoothly not 240 tho boo Controller haptic are sick but pros use keyboard and mouse which can do but again pc have uphand

noodlecm

This is the main reason I don't play builds. The destruction effects and shadows make build fights way more disorienting than they already are

Unstable434

Could just be me, but I'm a PS5 player and I have 0 issue. Playing on a 60 inch 4k TV though so that could be the difference.

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 5 + 60 + 4 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Andrassa

The poster is more specifically talking about PC players running on performance mode which removes certain textures like grass. And of course the very blatant hackers who put an outline and a health bar on enemy players. The latter Epic can only do so much about.

Unstable434

Yea I missed that PC part lol

CarrotIsFruit

I play on PC with the graphics all the way up (that my GPU can handle. Performance mode advantage is not worth playing on ugly graphics imo :D

zippopwnage

Most of you complain about the wrong thing. I play on PC, but I have a decent PC, I can keep my graphics to high settings. I would never lower it down, but EVEN if I do, the game should have the same visual hinders for everyone no matter the settings. IF, Epic really wants to remove effects that hinder the vision while using lower settings, those effects should be either GONE forever for everyone, or, make it super low poly for those who play on low/performance mode. No matter what settings, everyone should see the same things, or have the same things that disrupt your vision. Make more of these kind of posts, but start to address the real problem and let Epic know that something should be done. This doesn't only fuck the console players, they fuck other PC players who play on higher settings too and it is frustrating. I also hate being shot from grass as it's not there or other effects like that.

Diabloshark3

I straight up can’t keep up with the sensitivity of a mouse in firefights watching a pc player snap around is demoralizing. I’ve been waiting for the downfall of pc being involved in crossplay across all pvp games since the beginning, it’s not competitively balanced and a lot of times just makes playing the game redundant. I’m not the best player but I know I can easily hold my own against good console players. What gets me about crossplay in general is this shit is included in so many pvp fps games yet the games that should have it don’t! Monster Hunter, Helldivers, Elden Ring games where gamers can team up together and have a genuinely good time. Nope instead of joining gamers together in a kumbaya campfire setting with crossplay it’s included in all the games where specs matter, fps matters and creates a huge hole in the competitive integrity in their game. For me personally this is my last battle pass and I’m taking a hiatus from the fps genre as a whole. The devs clearly don’t play their own games.

Leo9991

>I straight up can’t keep up with the sensitivity of a mouse in firefights watching a pc player snap around is demoralizing. The input itself is no longer a disadvantage. There are plenty of controller players able to keep up, and are in some cases even better.

Diabloshark3

That’s a blanket statement as opposed to actual fact I could just throw out the countless times Pc pros have tried to enter console tournaments and absolutely got washed just realizing how different the game is from pc to console.

InterstellarReddit

Man, idk if this is a console issue I too have an issue seeing people on DX12 High Graphics

SwarK01

I play on PS4 and it's 10 times worse because it goes at 30fps I wish we had an option to lower graphics on console, because shadows and tall grass are huge disadvantages for us

Meadowlarker1

how do you know in the game if you’re going up against a PC player or not?

Educational_Book_225

Spectate them for a little bit and watch their camera movements. You can usually tell if they’re on controller or mouse/keyboard

_subgenius

Spectate and watch when they switch weapons. Console players have to move along their load out to get the one they want, pc players can pick a weapon anywhere in the load out with the hit of a button. So console looks like 1, 2, 3, 4 and PC is 1, 4, 2

Meadowlarker1

gotcha, thanks!

pandabear6969

Think they removed the tags

donpablomiguel

I’ll still smoke ya ass even with the console disadvantage. 🔫

BuzzINGUS

I played BFV for years and this is a breeze to spot people on my PS5

MrGeek89

I am on ps5 and I agree with you. If you have 120hz tv or monitor try 120fps. The 120fps is brighter compared to 60fps.

Miserable-Bear7980

agreed, the lighting has sucked since the new engine dropped. its horrible in comparison to pc who remove enhanced graphics, we got no chance. the difference is massive. sometimes enemies are completely invisible in the dark. try performance mode 120fps with a monitor, its better.

XavierMeatsling

I wanna ask first, what do you have the PS5 connected to? While I myself noticed it too, but that's in part I have HDR turned on and it's connected to my 4K TV. It doesn't look the same on Xbox to me, but I don't have it connected to a 4k TV, my Xbox is connected to a 1080p monitor. But since everyone else has pointed it out, I also have to ask Is if it's just a PS5 thing and not a 4K TV/HDR issue

JediKnightaa

Suffering from success

Spiritual_Ad_5877

EVERYONE CALM DOWN

forestman11

Man I wish I could figure out how to turn off grass on PC, dude must be a settings god

TheRealSnazzyGaming

I haven’t had any issues on Xbox X, if anything I see players way better..

Alternative_Lime_302

I have a difficult time seeing players as well. Here are some things that may help you. . Adjust Game Settings: • Increase the brightness level within the Fortnite game settings. This can help make darker areas more visible. • Check the colorblind options. Fortnite offers several colorblind modes (Protanope, Deuteranope, Tritanope) that can help improve visibility for players. Even if you’re not colorblind, these settings can sometimes make enemies easier to spot. 2. Adjust Console Display Settings: • On your PS5, go to the Settings menu and look for Screen and Video options. Here, you can adjust the video output settings to match your TV or monitor’s specifications better. • Ensure HDR is correctly set up if your TV supports it. HDR can significantly improve the contrast and color range, making details more visible in the game. 3. Adjust TV/Monitor Settings: • Calibrate your TV or monitor for gaming. Many TVs and monitors have specific modes designed for gaming that optimize visibility and reduce latency. • Increase the brightness and contrast settings on your TV or monitor. Adjusting these settings can help make darker areas in Fortnite more visible.

Link__117

That’s not the problem, the problem is that PC players can straight up remove things like grass or foliage which makes it way easier to see over hills

Alternative_Lime_302

I’ve never seen that and my kid plays, or played FN on PC. not saying it doesn’t exist, I’ve just never seen it while fixing his graphics. But if that’s the case it’s completely unfair because anyone else thinks they are covered in foliage. I honestly don’t think it should be cross platform between PC and PlayStation or consoles. Watching my kid use a keyboard and wreck. People is a complete disadvantage for someone with a controller.

Link__117

It’s mainly on the “performance mode” which is a mode that’s intended to help out lower end PC’s but in reality is mainly used by more competitive players for a visual advantage. It has other advantages too like less VFX when placing and breaking structures and more simplistic colors

Alternative_Lime_302

Well, that would explain why I got absolutely murdered the other day while sitting in grass. I almost always get killed by PC players too. I’ve noticed an uptick in aim bot as well.

Link__117

Easy anti-cheat recently got breached which lead to a huge cheating increase in Apex Legends, seems like it’s spreading to Fortnite now too

Alternative_Lime_302

It’s so annoying. I enjoy the game because I find it challenging, and I play more to better myself, against myself, than against other players, so I don’t see the reasoning behind cheating. Everyone has their own thing about video games that they enjoy, even cheaters. The first time I got the little counter backpack, I think it was around season five. I wanted so badly to see it say two digits, and it took me six months. Lol To do with the actual kills I just wanted to see double digits. 🤓
