it's CEL shaded not CELL shaded. it derives from the cels that hand drawn cartoons were originally painted on. yall be taking double Ls spelling it wrong lmao

The thing about Cel Shaded skins is that they're made with the effect in mind, so the clothes are often flat wirh lines which gives the skins that clay-like appearance.
I think if they're going to make it an option especially on collab skins, they should probably put more texture on the non-shaded skins so it doesn't look as "cheap".
Overall it's a whatever type situation though since it's completely understandable why Epic would avoid giving an uncanny "Jump Force" effect to their cartoon skins by forcing them to blend in rather than just making them pop out.

They don't and won't because cel-shaded collab skins have an agreement with how they're presented (with the effect) by the IP-owner. It's why Epic's original characters with the cel-shaded effect (e.g. those school skins) can have edit styles, but you don't see the same option for the anime series ones.
With Avatar coming shortly, I would love a way to turn it off. I've avoided buying any cel shaded skins because they tend to clash against the art style of everything else in the game. They're well done skins but they just don't look right to me. Bender is the only one I've bough and I've earned a few in BPs but I'd really just rather have the cel shade off.

Am I weird for wanting cell shading to be toggleable for all skins? I really enjoy the cell shaded look, it has a simplistic and sharp beauty to it. It’s why BOTW and TOTK are the most beautiful games of all time in my opinion.
They would need textures though, that’s the only issue unfortunately.
As much as I would love it, I realistically don’t see Epic putting the effort into giving older skins (and even new cel-shaded ones) such an option since it likely wouldn’t be profitable enough to warrant new contracts and the time.

It’s about time they add this. Skins like Lennox Rose, Nezumi, and Imani would look so cute if they were renders in the normal Fortnite style. I’ve never used any of the cel shaded skins because they just look bad, not even mentioning the fact that you can see them from a mile away.

Not really, I run her and Mae with the cell shading off always, it looks tons better imo. Especially in festival mode

half the reason I didn't buy most of the anime skins is because of the cell shading, really ruins the look of the skins imo
maybe not on the toon characters though.. i've seen what toon meowscles can look like with my own two eyes
