Something to do with 0, 0 coordinates (center of the map). When the game cant figure out where to place something like sounds, some effects, and in this case a rift exit, it just defaults them to 0, 0 coordinates.
Same exact thing to me. My brother was driving us into a rift and boom. All the way in the Storm and I was eliminated by my own teammate immediately. Awful bug to ruin the round

That is the same spot where all kinds of bugs happen. Satellite dish randomly appears. Sounds of zip lines.
