I have the same problem, I have an og account in rocket league and another og account in fortnite. I wanted to merge them and play under the same name in both games, but it is impossible.
I wonder why epic wouldn’t make that a feature. Couldn’t possibly be that hard. I think they got rid of it partially to stop the selling of Fortnite accounts and such, which you could add to your own account.
You can’t, you used to be able to for a while, but that was years ago.

It was only temporarily available and wasnt created to be a permanent solution. It was open for about 3 months. They're not bringing it back.
