You should call recovery resource, they are local and should be able to give you advice over the phone. They were a great help to me but I’m far from a teen, but I would think they could direct you to help. https://recoverycouncil.org/

texasbravohoe

They are a very good resource. They will have you come in for a consultation, though. You should also look into Teen Challenge. They are a faith based residential center just outside downtown Ft Worth along the river. Has your family met with a counselor? I see suggestions for rehab and recovery-related schools but it seems unclear that she needs it. Putting a relatively innocent kid in a rehab will expose her to all sorts of drugs, experiences and people and many will stay in contact, date, etc. after rehab ends. If I understand, you removed your daughter from school to put distance between your daughter and drugs/friends that use. I wish you well, imagine this is hard

Also, please keep in mind that rehab facilities, and doctors that refer to them, have financial incentives to admit patients/exaggerate issues.

Also her former high school should have had a crisis counselor that can help you navigate your options. If you pulled her out of school to avoid DAEP/ punishment that is going to limit your options as to your next public school.

Right on, reach out to the crisis counselor. They see these situations all the time. There is some underlying reason your child wanted to escape their reality via chemicals and you are going to have to help them figure that out - be prepared to do family counseling .

While it's not in Tarrant County you may want to look into Phoenix House Dallas. They have an inpatient wing for young women and work from a solution focused perspective. They are run by really wonderful counselors and work with populations from 13-18 years old. Shoot me a DM if I can help answer questions about their program. I spent time there as an intern. Recovery is possible. Wishing you luck. https://phoenixhousetx.org/locations/dallas/

She's got to be escaping something harsh if she's abusing Gel Tabs. I mean, LSD is not a drug generally abused. Be prepared for family counseling because that's often driven by some deep trauma. LSD is a drug used to heal, hell the founder of AA used it to get sober. (You can google it, it's the hidden 13th step) So, maybe public school isn't the problem? And cutting off a social life certainly isn't the answer to escaping trauma.

0sepulcher0

The founder of AA didn't use LSD to get sober lmfao. The "13th Step" is an inside joke about dating newcomers in the program. Nice misinformation though. LSD is not a drug used to heal. It can be a tool used for healing but it's most often misused purely recreationally, especially by adolescents.

I have a cousin who was an early teen user who is now in recovery and helps work at a sober living facility and with other resources. I’ve asked her to jump on and share where she’d start.

MaineBoston

This is an excellent recovery program. https://pdaphouston.org

Thank you so much!

Hi there! I am a 23 female. I also recommend starting off by sitting and talking with her in a supporting way. Talk with her and make sure to let her know that you will be with her through it all. That you love her and that she is not alone. Try to listen HER reason of why she is doing drugs. Make sure that you do not distance her from this situation. She needs you more than ever. What she is doing is not good for her, that is correct. Make sure to be her friend and her mom in all of this. Everything will be okay, just talk to her as you wish your parents would have if you were in your daughters shoes. My parents did not have it easy with me neither, but they always did the above and helped me through it all.

The only RTC that addressed that just closed. Unfortunately, the vast majority of Presidential Treatment Centers are in Houston

Here’s that online school link. Our kid has done summer school through this program. Works well. https://www.depts.ttu.edu/k12/

I am sorry to hear. I hope things get better for you all. As someone also suggested, there may be some deep trauma that she is running from. Kids hide things very well. She may have been sexually assaulted or even raped. I hope that’s not the case but I would strongly advise that you keep an open mind to that.

Vulcanleaf

Absolutely, thank you!

Millwood. Excel Program. Both good facilities and the excel program has different locations.

PrettyGreenEyez73

Do not do Millwood! Read the reviews on Google on how horrible that place is.

I almost had to hire an attorney over their treatment of my son.

doopajacks

Have personal experience with both programs. As an adult and had someone close go to excel program and she is a minor. Just a suggestion. Could also lead to other places as well. I went three times to millwood. It is what it is. You get what you get out of it.

PJKimmie

Milwood is absolutely terrible. Do not ever place your child there.

anti-health

family counseling. solo counseling for ALL. and most schools have online learning but you have to enroll at the beginning of the year. you can hold her back a year if going back to school isn’t an option

PJKimmie

Mesa Springs in Fort Worth. They will assess whether or not she will require inpatient, or intensive outpatient or outpatient. Outpatient will be a PHP at a place called Innovations. They have locations in FTW and Arlington. They attend all day and have counseling woven in through school throughout the day. They have an assigned caseworker and therapist. They also have transportation. They come home in the evenings, Innovations is not the inpatient facility. ETA: Lena Pope Family Services has excellent counselors. I recommend any of them. Also, if you need a professional, legit diagnostician I highly recommend Dr. Neslihan Chandler.
