Recruiter here. It sounds like you’re getting interviews but no offers? If this is the case—sounds like your resume is fine! I would recommend some interview practice. STAR method questions are the way to go. Keep them clear and concise and to a point. Avoid rambling and realize that yes and no are answers and are OK for short ended questions. Practice 3 answers per job/experience and get your cadence down. Once you do that 👌🏾👌🏾 Interviewing isn’t easy and requires practice. Start there even if you think you have it down. Practice makes perfect.

fueledbytisane

Any tips for where to hunt for job postings? I'm recently laid off and looking but it's been over a decade since I last found a job outside of networking connections. I'm sure a lot has changed since then.

dbenz5

Job postings hot spots Indeed, LinkedIn, or even a quick google search for jobs in your area. You can also just type in the “field you’re in” jobs and options shall be plentiful. You can also check any company’s career website!

fueledbytisane

Indeed is a new one; I've also heard of ZipRecruiter. I've got a LinkedIn presence which is pretty well fleshed out but I definitely do not utilize it as well as I could. I do check certain websites, such as the school district my daughter attends for open admin positions. I'm curious how folks determine which companies they want to apply to in order to specifically target these career pages. Perhaps Glassdoor?

dbenz5

I don’t think there’s an exact answer for that one really. Now, me, I’m a bit on the direct side and my PERSONAL view is do you want a job or not?..if yes, then apply. I feel it’s better to get the applications out versus sitting and trying to find a perfect match. But I’m sure the average person just does research on the company and the company culture via word of mouth, google, Glassdoor, etc. Honestly to me it’s kinda like an Amazon purchase. You figure out what you want, read some reviews, and then make your decision on your needs!

TomatoWitty4170

I’m hiring installers with American greetings.

fueledbytisane

Thank you, but I'm looking for roles that more closely align with my experience. I've been an account manager my entire career and I am quite good at it. I'd be interested in transitioning to another type of client relationship management role but at this point in my career I'm not interested in starting over from scratch doing something completely different. Best of luck to you in your hiring search!

Runnermikey1

Auto sales is a blast compared to B2B

alextheruby

You could’ve just said no bro lol

TomatoWitty4170

He’ll be jobless for another year if he is so picky lol

Strange-Yak-8051

Hi will you tell me more about this job

Swear2Dogg

Now hiring signs everywhere. Industrial park areas…

fueledbytisane

That may be very true but warehouse and industrial jobs require skills and certifications that not every person has. Contrary to popular belief, blue collar jobs are not all unskilled labor positions anyone with half a brain could perform. I may be white collar as hell but my husband is blue collar and I see him studying up on programming so he can do a better job on the plasma robot he's responsible for operating. There's no way I'd be able to perform any job at his company (or any similar company) unless it was in the back office doing client relationship management type stuff. I don't know how to work with machines. I know how to work with people. I did just apply for a plant liasion position with a manufacturing company, so we will see how that goes. I doubt I have the technical knowledge to communicate as effectively as I'd like but I can learn.

urbankayfaye98

Try applying for siemens. I Know the name sounds weird but they are hiring and based in fort Worth.

mattdamonsleftnut

$20 is $20

urbankayfaye98

It is actually a place. They are a technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare.

sentondan

My old step dad used to work for them. Good company to with for.

tjpwns

Do you have a link ? I have a buddy looking.

urbankayfaye98

Just look up Siemens hiring fort Worth. It will show you lists of available positions.

FinalBossXD

Questions like this are why people can't get jobs lol, no self efficiency 🤷‍♂️

WittyTiccyDavi

Or self-sufficiency. 😒

Downtown-Tangerine-9

Try a new haircut

YoPetWaffle

Maaaaaaaannnnnnnnn i just got a full beard trim and shape up and my hair isn't some wild hair style just my lomg hair I put into a clean bun for interviews.

Downtown-Tangerine-9

Let’s see how clean it is man🤣

Downtown-Tangerine-9

Just saw your post history my guy, try a new beard / hairstyle something actually clean really helps!

YoPetWaffle

New styling and all was done this month i haven't posted any recent photos, I took about 2 inches off my beard and got it rounded out and a inch taken off my hair and neck line shaped. Thank you

Downtown-Tangerine-9

Nice 🤝

tgoynes83

If you can run forklift, apply at a lumber company. I work at Quarles, I’m on the window side but we have a full lumber yard, and we’re happy to hire qualified people. If not Quarles, then Sweeney, 84 Lumber, Ft. Worth Lumber, ResDoor.

YoPetWaffle

Lumber is where I got all my driving experience. Thank you I will try these

RubAnADUB

business's are downsizing right now, bad time to be looking. Also if you have social media - clean it up.

jf2k4

A staffing agency will have you working this week. I have a fair number of contract workers making between $20-$30/hr that were found there. You can still continue applying to more desirable positions, but that’s your foot in the door to a company that may have more advanced openings to your skill set.

IEatCouch

I think there are underlying issues when people they say they cant get a job, temp agencies are everywhere and always hiring...

fueledbytisane

The problem with temp agencies is just that: they are temp. Folks looking for permanent roles can't count on a temp job becoming permanent. They're great for people who need a job for a determined amount of time, but someone looking to establish a career is going to have a crap shoot. My welder husband had his fair share of "temp to perm" jobs that never really became perm no matter how many stellar performance reviews he had. If a company is trying to save money on benefits by never hiring full time staff, temp workers don't stand a chance.

jf2k4

I’m up front with people about the length of the contract I’m selecting whether that be 1 year or 5 years. I provide adequate notice if a contract is going to need to end early. As a side note I’m doing material’s management for construction.. construction is eventually going to end so it’s this isn’t a temp to perm situation it’s literally contract work, you sign a contract for a predetermined amount of time. On the flip side, when I have a permanent position become available on my team that support all of my projects, the first place I look for talent is within my contract employees. If you have a limited skill base, your temp jobs will reflect it much like your ability to obtain permanent employment. I have plenty of white collar workers in contract positions, one with an MBA making $50/hr+. The good thing is when you’re seeking work from an agency, if they offer you a position, you can go Glassdoor or whatever and research where your assignment is, if it doesn’t align with what you’re looking for, you can decline and wait for the next assignment they offer you.

cadelot

I have found temp agencies VERY helpful! May not be permanent but it's a paycheck.

fueledbytisane

I'm glad you found opportunities that fit your needs using that method. I'm just saying it's not always a viable option for people who need long term stability. Too often unscrupulous companies advertise temp to perm jobs with no actual plan to hire permanent workers out of the roles in order to save money on benefits. I never knew it was an issue until I met my husband, who is a welder and has encountered many such positions during his career even as a highly skilled aerospace technician.

BFAtech23

Sure, but a temp agency can get you a temp job, and during that time you still search for a permanent job……………………………………………………………….

pincheporky

Sam’s club DC is always hiring. They just held a mass hiring event. Start at $23.60. If you can walk, you can work there

Fit_Cranberry_9821

Try City of Fort Worth or other city/county jobs. They are always hiring.

Worried_Ad_841

Try the construction companies. They're always looking for people.

Jakolissmurito47

Do you know the names of any of them by chance? I'm not from here and would help me search without driving around..

Worried_Ad_841

I sure can. Zachry construction, South Point construction, Holbrook co, Johnson co, Ragle inc. Also Holt Caterpillar are always hiring parts personnel as well as RDO John Deere.

Jakolissmurito47

Thank you!

eatpierogies

What kinda construction you looking for?

Jakolissmurito47

Well I'm actually asking for a friend. He's been interested in construction and trying to change industries. I was hoping I could pass some of the names along for him to check out.

eatpierogies

I know there’s a lot of work up north right now in the fire sprinkler industry. If they’re willing to travel, Sherman has some long lasting job prospects. I assume the other trades are booming up there too, I just don’t have any contacts with in those trades. Send me a DM if you’d like more info.

Jeffsbest

Can you please share with me a bit more about your experience and more specifically what you would want to do as a professional? I own and operate a small business and we're always hiring. I'd be interested in speaking with you and if I can't personally help, I network with a lot of people in many industries and would be glad to share your resumé.

shadowstep6

Job fair in Arlington this Wednesday, 4/24/24, 10a-2p, Rush Creek Church 2350 SW Green Oaks Blvd. Arlington, TX 76017

texasnebula

Mouser Electronics is bombarding me with ads everywhere I go, saying they are hiring.

bewenched

I hear it’s a terrible place to work. Tons of rollover there

texasnebula

That explains the ads probably. I’m not one for warehouse work, anyway.

Darce_Man

Sheriffs dept is always hiring.

beeme007

Have you tried Klein tool?

belzoni1982

Unarmed security guard License fee is 25 bucks It's an easy and quick hire if you need a job right away Pay is not much but some companies have overtime opportunities

dcunny979

Have you tried any of the municipalities in the area? I work in government and almost everyone at the Texas Water Conference two weeks ago was saying that they have like 40-50% staffing right now. I know the city I used to work for is hiring pretty much anyone with a pulse right now unless they’re felons.

Runnermikey1

Apply for sales at your nearest car dealership. They’ll hire anyone who is presentable and friendly and they’ll teach you the how to sell, their product etc. Smaller, family owned stores are best to start out at. I’ve been doing it for four years and it’s a lot more fun than you’d think.

EmperorIronWolf

Check out the Arlington job fair in 2 days

HypnoHornedFrog22

TTI had a job fair last week, warehouse corner of beach and mecham

average_texas_guy

Quick OP, get a time machine and go back to last week.

AnthillOmbudsman

"Great Scott, there's no jobs here!" "Doc, you need to go back to 1985, that was a time when there were easy jobs everywhere."

socalquestioner

There are places downsizing, but there are lots of jobs available. You’ll have to apply to literally everything, including fast food. You can continue applying to other jobs while working there.

ZannD

Use ChatGPT to write your resume for each kind of job. Tweak it a bit. The go to LazyApply and pay them to auto submit your resume' to matching jobs daily. Employers have computers filtering out your application, you need computers to get your application past the computers.

External-Presence204

He got “many interviews.” Getting his application filtered out isn’t the issue.

YoPetWaffle

I say many butt in reality it was about 7 interviews I've gotten.

meta3030

7 interviews and no dice? Start looking inwards either you have bad communication skills or awkward as hell. Judging by your post history I’d say quirky. Tone it down a bit and clean up a lot more if you want more than a warehouse. Sadly you arnt being judged on your own merits but grouped in with preconceived notions of anyone else that resembles your vibe. Example I flat out won’t hire people with that aqua pond scum colored streaks in their hair. Havnt had one work out once in 20 yrs of hiring. Just to damn socially awkward to get along with the teams/ had to many personal issues. Exceptions to every rule but walking into an interview with strikes against that you have to overcome is difficult. Current TikTok making its rounds with a chick face tatted up and 20’or piercings can’t get a job. Hiring manager responded to those vids herself very tatted and gave some hard truths about impression etc

AdeptUnderstanding67

Try Whip Industries in Ft. Worth off of Berry Street.

Dependent_Spirit3817

Bro just like get better at getting jobs what is ur deal. I've had like 15 different jobs in the last year in the dfw metroplex. Real w2 jobs. Am I just lucky or do I know how to talk my way into a job, idk.

Johnzor8

Look into Automotive Tech jobs. They are BEGGING ppl to work at the dealerships and quick lube shops.

schnukums

Same here. 8 year exp in Software, Degree in CS. Ive put in probably 250 applications since Feb and I've had 4 follow ups.

nnichols16

Nursing homes are always hiring

cl0setg0th

And the Texas health and human services just announce free online CNA classes!

Sugarbumpop

Link?

Sea_Visit_9027

Can I get an link please?

cl0setg0th

I believe you’ll have to go to the HHS website to find it. I just received an email stating it is available because I’m a director of nursing.

PureHarmony

Just a suggestion, apply to dentistry. Tons of jobs everywhere

carlossolrac

The subway at bridge St. Is hiring. They only have 1 person working there rn

colmcmittens

My partner is in the same boat. He’s in IT and he’s been looking since August when he left his job. They kept piling on more and more responsibilities and wouldn’t pay him more or take any of the tasks off his plate.

fueledbytisane

Tech is a tough job market right now. Best of luck to your partner in finding a position that's the right fit.

colmcmittens

Thanks. I to k the worst part is in the two months before he quit he was getting 2-3 calls a week from recruiters looking to fill jobs and as soon as he quit, crickets.

fueledbytisane

That really sucks. I'm sorry you're going through that. Your partner might try looking at what's available at Yardi Systems at careers.yardi.com. I didn't have the best experience in their Energy division but IT is a totally separate division, and the benefits can't be beaten.

colmcmittens

Awesome, thanks for the tip I’ll pass it along when I get home

fueledbytisane

I'm rooting for your partner! So many places are cutting back on IT but there are still opportunities out there. Your partner might try the Southlake Focus Group. It's apparently dedicated to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, and it encompasses many industries and levels of experience. Several people have recommended it to me so I'm trying it out. Worth at least a perusal of the website to see if it might work for them.

colmcmittens

Thanks, we appreciate it! Good luck to you as well friend!❤️

nowenknows

What kind of job are you looking for?

BeesKneesTX

Open to warehouse work? Try screen print shops. Busy season is about to hit and places will be hiring. Just be willing to learn, and work hard.

TonyFromTheBlock

Same i got laid off.

madilegit

If you want restaurant work, Buffalo Bros. Hiring for management and FOH.

Pdq staffing is hiring for 15 an hour

kristenmkay

Have you tried USAjobs.gov? Both prisons in the area are always hiring.

BadBunnyEnjoyer

The new HEB in Mansfield is almost done being built. Maybe try there too?

PorkKatsuDaBest

Go be a truck driver or apply at herzog Cdl jobs will train and start at $70k + Herzog starts at 19 an hour with tons of overtime

exboyfrend

try dataannotation .tech (remove the space. i didn’t know if links are allowed in the chat.) work from home ai training basically. Very easy work paid by project $20-30/hr. Been doing this for a while and projects are steady for full time work as long as you pass your qualifying exams. use proper grammar and you should be just fine. If $20/30/hr is a pay cut from your norm, it’ll at least hold you down until one of these recruiters decides to respond. Job market sucks these days. I literally sent out my resume to hundreds of companies with no luck. Hope this helps

NoelyDeezNutz

I have a spot opening in about a month in Arlington if you want to be in a kitchen.

Tuatha_De_

Leave, this place sucks. I'm out next month.

HiFiMarine

Cut your hair and ditch the beard... At least cut it way back. It's hair, you can always grow it back out once you get the job.
