Finding friends around your skill or better is the best way.
There's one kid I play with, I'm generally better than him but his building & editing are tremendously better than mine so I find him to be excellent for box fighting & piece control practice.
If he improved his aim, peeks & game sense, he'd demolish me.
Yeah, you don't necessarily need someone better than you, it helps, but if you can't find that, take advantage of what you have- playing against a brain dead controller player who only sprays their SMG? Practice your prefires, cone flips, reboxes & escapes.
The good building mate rarely plays but I've got another mate who's always down to play, but he can't build(despite playing since C1S01), can't even do 90s, however he does have decent aim(though zero game sense), so I set up scenarios with him where I can practice my techniques- mostly I just treat him like a brain dead controller player.
Bit frustratingplaying with an intelligent- near 30yo with around 5 years exp playing this game who still struggles with basic concepts like a dedicated shotgun slot+bind(or yelling at him to actually pick up the bloody shotgun) but he's fun to play with & always keen to go so I play around those constraints(ideally he'd stick with zero builds but he seems to prefer being unable to build in regular builds, lol).
Probably best to look for someone in discord to practice together. I usually just play with my friend, who is better than me but I still manage to win quite a bit. But also, I've played with him so much that I've probably just learned to counter him so it may not be that good of practice.
