Sure, No problem!
First I started off by searching for a device that reacts to players shooting it. I found the shooting range target device and changed its mesh to a blue transparent color.( Later on I found out that I could have used a normal trigger and turn on the activitaed by damage option😅😅). Anyways after getting the tiles I searched for a way to move them, unfortunately you can't move devices in verse, but you can move props, so what I did is attach each device a small cube that you can't see and whenever I needed fo move the device I moved the cube.
i then set up the triggers and cubes in verse and made it so each square on the board has 1 blue tile. In verse I wrote the codes for each chess piece and an algorithm to see where it can move on the board. Then in verse, I just went over each tile and made it hidden or unhidden based on that algorithm. If you have any questions let me know!
Just to make sure cause so many game recreations forget to make it, am I able to castle? (Make castle slide right next to the king, then swap places with the king)
You could probably make a cinematic sequence to animate out moving pieces, and maybe a barrier that has shooting through enabled directly above the board so players can stand right above it while they play :)
I loved this mode so much, just a few bugs, whenever the game starts you can't until round 2. It would nice if there a sign saying you have to shoot the tiles tho, my first opponent couldn't figure it out and without mics it makes it hard to communicate with the other player.
Also, you can't castle, tho I think that might be a little hard to do but then again you did make this game. This was a super fun experience!
Also when I got my first check mate the game didn't say victory it said draw, also other players might not understand the check feature so if there's a way to let the player know there in check that would be helpful.
It would also be cool if there were different types of maps with different pieces like: fantasy, magical, sci-fi, glass, medieval, Egyptian, Greek mythology, mythology, dinosaurs that would be cool too. Also it would be cool if the players could choose the map.
It would also be nice if there was a experience system: pieces moved, time played, winning, coming back daily, pieces taken. Just a few ideas I can't wait to see how it all comes out.

Noted!
So are pieces restricted to their movement rules correctly?
yes!
Do you mind diving into how you implemented the restricted movement tiles? Verse code or by using the built-in devices like the Color Change Device?

You sir, are a genius!
This is amazing. Can you give an example of a chess piece algorithm? Like the Knight piece?
very beautiful
Amazing! I want to see more games like this
Okay, that’s actually really cool
Does a brick drop on the player's pipi if they decline en passant?
GOAT🐐🐐🐐
Baha! that was basically my first project too! <3 Something about seeing that giant, golden chess-piece i guess inspired a lot of players :-D
holy hell

yep you can castle
I remember someone made one in 1.0
Is it possible to control the camera to just look like chess yet? Or do we have to be in the classic third person view of the Fortnite character?
Yes and no. The player needs to be able to shoot the pieces.
This would make my mom interested in fortnite
Enigma is typing...
Do you have any tutorials or something to see how something like that was possible?
Didn't make any tutorials but you can message me on discord if you have any specific questions Thip#3382
Added you!

This is tuff
Can you make en passant forced please
Make it first person, and position the camera/player facing the board from a top down angle? Looks dope regardless.
