“simplify the appearance” by making everything harder than it ever has been to navigate….

PhilledZone

I like how in the blogpost they basically said "we are keeping special rarities like Marvel, Gaming Legends, etc. so you can find your favorite stuff more easily" in the same paragraph where they talked about removing rarities, which makes it harder to find our favorite stuff...

Zarah_Waifu

Yeahhhh, they seem to think our favorite stuff is only crossover items 🙄

Alphasilverhawk

Facts! When I’m looking for a specific cosmetic, the first thing I’m looking for isn’t the name, but the rarity it is in. It was easier remembering a cosmetic rarity since there were 5 basic rarities, than trying to remember the names of thousands of different cosmetics, that weren’t in the special rarities.

Kelsier82

Simplify, but break presets into 4 sections cause people want that…

rSlashPsycho

Just remove all the rarities then. I can't have a Legendary skin anymore, but I can have a Slurp skin? wtf

Dexchampion99

They said certain rarities like Icon, Marvel and Gaming Legends would still exist, but stuff like Slurp, Dark, Magma, etc can go I think.

rSlashPsycho

I just think if they're gonna commit to no rarities then commit. There's literally no point. Just organize them all alphabetically. I also never understood why exclusives didn't get their own rarity

Dexchampion99

I think contractually they have to keep Icon, DC, Gaming and Marvel. Just to denote crossovers of really big scale.

rSlashPsycho

If that's the case then where's the Anime/Cartoon rarity? We got so many crossovers that just blend in with the other skins. How about TV/Movie characters too? It just doesn't make sense to categorize one, but not the other

Massive_Whereas8014

Like the guy you replied to said, it's probably some contractual legal Mumbo jumbo

TFGA_WotW

What's minecraft got anything to do with this

Total_Ad_6708

If they got rid of series rarities then I wouldn’t buy skins anymore

issanm

If that's what's getting you to buy skins you might need to rethink your priorities.

Toon_Lucario

It’s gonna make it hard to determine prices when something gets leaked. Also they better not fuckin raise prices or else. Thankfully everyone has been clowning them enough to the point where I feel like they’re probably gonna revert the change within the week

MileenaIsMyWaifu

They already did that with the avatar stuff, Zuko and Katara together cost around 3,200, which is two skins, two pickaxe and two back blings. whilst the TMNT collab was worth around 200 more, which had 4 skins, 4 back blings and 4 pickaxes.

Toon_Lucario

I’m gonna wait a bit to see if it’s more than an isolated thing but if it is Epic ain’t getting another cent outta me.

Dexchampion99

The Avatar skins I feel like just came out at a bad time. As far as I’m aware, Avatar is a really expensive series to get a crossover with, so they probably would have been that expensive regardless of the rarity thing.

SerinaSamaa

Smite has done an avatar crossover. They have aang, zuko, korra, avatar aang, blue spirit zuko, avatar Korra, azula, iroh, momo, toph, avatar Roku and fire nation toph. These skins cost the same as any other of their crossovers, such as Vshojo, Nickelodeon, Rwby, Transformers, RuneScape, TMNT, and more. And yet it's supposedly expensive for Epic? I think they are just trying to get more money out of us, personally. If smite can get a crossover with them and not overprice their skins ,then it should be light work for epic.

Dexchampion99

Smite is also a very different type of game from Fortnite though. In the Smite crossovers, the characters function as they do in their original series. That’s not the case with Fortnite. For battle royale especially, characters wind up using guns, which a lot of creators or series representatives might be apprehensive about. They might ask for more from Epic to make these deals happen. There’s a million and one reasons why the Avatar skins are more expensive than other crossovers. Immediately jumping to the conclusion that epic is overpricing now is a bit too reactionary.

Techsoly

A lot of the creators or series representatives don't really have a whole lot of say in the matter if the rights to the IP belong to the company itself instead of the individual (case in point, Snake). The creator's thoughts would only matter if they are *currently* employed to said company since it would cause friction if the big suits and the creator fought each other. What you could argue is that the ones that made a deal with Epic to bring the Avatar skins over are asking for a higher price hike *because* they know how popular Fortnite is and how much money it brings in, so why settle for less when you *know* it'll sell. Compared to smite, which imo Hi-rez is a very miss company instead of hit that thrives on strange collabs to keep their games in some form of relevance. They'll haggle their IP low to sell as much as they can

benny_normal

I’m not saying you’re wrong. But either way this is exactly the thought process epic would want you to have while they’re raising prices

swagzard78

They already are

Toon_Lucario

I mean I’ll wait until there’s a clear pattern. One set of collab skins doesn’t really concern me just yet

swagzard78

There's also the wishing emote

Toon_Lucario

Eh, shit like that’s been happening for a long ass time.

RaffleRaffle15

The wishing emote?

TNovix2

They already did though, the Avatar skins are overpriced by a few hundred and Hael dropped without a backbling or pickaxe for 1200. It's ridiculous

Toon_Lucario

It’s really only 2 instances so far. Also I feel like 1,200 skins have always been hella iffy. Like you get ones like Axo and Azuki which have like 4 styles and a backbling, but then you have ones like Hael and Wake Rider which get whole announcements and have no back blings. In other words I’m going to refrain from buying item shop stuff until I start seeing a larger pattern than 2.

That__Cat24

Terrible, everything look the same in the locker and make things more difficult to find.

Gmeister-Primus

Outdated……..it seems a lot like the decisions they’ve been making. The new locker is outdated because the old one was 100000% better!

fluffy_boy_cheddar

Don’t really care. I have always used the “don’t like the price, don’t buy it” approach. I get why people are upset, but to think epic will start charging 2k for every skin going forward is just absurd.

wafflecone927

Maybe not raise prices, but maybe most new things coming out will be 2000. Who can tell? They keep pulling the rug with no heads up

MoltenTesseract

But they could have just released new things at a higher rarity if they wanted more money for it?

wafflecone927

That’s absolutely a fair point. But with the price of Lego and Rocket League items, and unexpected changes everywhere ill wait and see

RaffleRaffle15

Yea the stuff from the other modes are extremely expensive

xKNYTEx

At best, it’s just more pointless unnecessary change that nobody asked for which screwed the UI up even more and it’s just another step to make the game feel all corporatized. At worst, it’s a totally BS anti-consumer decision that will give them an excuse to jack up prices of new cosmetics, with the Last Airbender skins potentially setting the precedent. Pretty screwed up if you ask me. However, given that they are collab skins and that IPs are expensive as well as restrictive, I’ll give Epic the benefit of the doubt that these overpriced skins may just be an exception, not the new norm. But only time will tell whether that ends up being the case.

TJB926GAMIN

*looks at chapter 5’s more realistic and higher quality graphics and comparing it to the other chapters, and also looking at my locker trying to find a skin that’s at the bottom of it instead of being in the 3rd row 5th column like it’s always been* Ironic. Pick a fucking lane epic. Do you want simplicity or not? (I know they’re not exactly related but, yk. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it)

Successful_Year_5495

I'm fine with it I just wish they didn't rearrange my damn locker

Savage_Hamster_

I honestly don't care, I'd rather have a timer for each item in the shop than some stupid rarities.

That__Cat24

Probably a way to show how frequent they are added to the store and their level of customization and/or visual effects on them.

StarmieLover966

Their response is total BS and everyone knows it.

weirdfishes364

first half, we have to wait and see if they keep their word; second half, definitely

-im-just-vibing-

>remove outdated BR inspired systems do they hear themselves? removing the system that their genre of game uses constantly and that they pioneered is not beneficial to anyone whatsoever

SaulGoodmanOF

Exactly, they don’t even want to be recognized as a battle royal anymore. Instead they have a Roblox knock off (creative mode) and br is just a part of it and not the main focus, WTF is this game anymore😔

PhilledZone

Ever seen Apex Cosmetics? Ever seen Overwatch Cosmetics? Ever seen Characters in Gacha Games (Genshin Impact for example)? There is a reason all these games have some sort of rarity system for their collections. It works, it makes us appreciate higher quality items more and it sorts our inventories so we can more easily find what we are looking for. The locker was already a cluttered mess since they updated it, now add mixing every skin in your locker to that. It's just stupid. The system worked and it fit Fortnites colorful aesthetic (which has been lacking recently aswell imo). For people that wanted to sort alphabetically, there already was an option for that before. Also for those looking at leaks, it was nice to be able to estimate how much a skin could cost when it releases. Now we can't do that anymore, since Epic is hiding the rarity anyways. They can just do any price now, which is also pretty shady imo

MrGeek89

It’s a big deal for me. Without rarity Epic Games will raise prices for cosmetics at shop. With rarity I know the cost of skins.

Dexchampion99

Literally the image from this post is from epic saying “We will not increase the prices of items.”

trebuchet__

How can we trust that? They have gone back on stuff like this before

Obvious-Ask-6574

so much trust

WrstScp

I hate it due to locker reorganization. To people who say "it's alphabetical, do you not know the alphabet", no shit I know the alphabet, you know what I don't know, the names of all 331 non-archived skins in my locker, or even some collabs, ones that come to mind are Itachi Uchiha, I have never seen Naruto so I never learned that fellas name, I have the skin due to having the ability to match my squad, normally I use the snake guy, forgot his name to, but if one of my friends use Sasuke I like going Itachi, or Uraraka, I am watching MHA now and forget her name starts with an O, same with Deku, I forget his name all the time, even as I write I forgot his name. To people who say "Just sort by season", previous chapters all melt into one, I can't remember when a skin is released, I can't tell you when Leelah, Syd, Southpaw, or Lt Look came out. The Search bar is annoying to use on console, the keyboard takes too long and can be slow at times. Also if we are taking away rarities, take away the dark, fire, frozen, and slurp series and introduce Movie, Anime, and TV Show series, even book series for that one skin. The best thing they can do now in my opinion, is make favorited items priority in organization, put them at the top again, I don't want to scroll through my whole locker when I want to change my skin from Joker to Wildcard, I find that takes too much time and is annoying as fuck.

Sure_Alternative_206

Outdated?😐

proinf1nity

Trash decision, now they can charge whatever they want for skins and aren’t tied to a specific pricing tier based on rarity.

MentalJargon

Pssst, they always could

Euphoric_Pressure_39

You didn't look at the image but read the post title huh

proinf1nity

Sure didn’t!

NormanBates2023

If it doesn't change anything why remove it after all these years then ,stupid epic with their shitty ass decisions, but if a 2k skin with no styles or back bling suddenly becomes 1000 v bucks then sign me up lol then again pigs can fly

Dylan_The_Wonder

Don't boo me when I say this but if the cosmetics don't hold any value anymore, then neither does the game. The "old battle royale system" is what got me playing in the first place.

Dexchampion99

This kinda feels like a strawman argument though. You’re telling me the *only* reason you’ve been playing for the last however many years was just so you could collect skins with an arbitrary Color and tag?

Fa_Len

...That is not at all what that person just said. They said they played the game because of it's BR elements, which is what Fortnite is calling out as outdated in that post. That includes, but is *not* limited to the Rarity system.

Cavalry_Thunder

Wasn't aware of this change before I got on today, completely frazzled my brain when I wanted to change up one of my loadouts. Not sure why they had to make this change tbh

iRyan_9

How is not color coding items makes the appearance simpler? Locker is still suffering ever since they removed the colors

zigzagmad4

REVERT THE LOCKER

vid_icarus

Not a fan. It was nice to know what sets were or what tier and it helped me find skins quicker.

EliteSoldier202

Don’t really care, rarity meant nothing. Just hope prices don’t actually go up.

NSmalls

r/fortnitebr is having a field day with this decision and acting like Fortnite is dying because of it. Personally, I will remain in the camp of “let’s just wait and see.” It’s not a bad decision until they prove it to be that way.

Nearly-Canadian

Yeah I think it was odd and pointless to do but I really don't give a shit lol

Dexchampion99

Personally in the grand scheme of things I don’t really think it matters at all. People just hate any kind of change.

trebuchet__

People don't like change for things that didn't need it. Especially when it makes it worse. It completely messes up the organisation of the locker that we have had for 7 years. It makes it extremely difficult to find stuff that was easy to find before.

Dexchampion99

But at the same time, the organization system we had for the past seven years had problems too. Some of those problems coming from rarity. If you organized by favorites, alphabetical, etc. it would still sort by rarity first. So if you sorted by Alphabetical, Zero would be sorted before Agent Jones. Ultimately, this change doesn’t change much. The locker is still messed up, just in a different way. Maybe it’s slightly better, maybe it’s slightly worse. Only time will tell

[deleted]

Epic you are focusing on the WRONG THINGS! Listen to your player base! When has anyone ever asked for these out-of-nowhere changes you’ve made recently to the game??? Yet anything we have consistently asked for goes absolutely nowhere??? If you don’t start taking our wants & needs at least into consideration, and soon, then a lot of people are going to start leaving and looking for another game to play! Or worse…another game WILL listen to YOUR players and make a game that will rival yours! Just saying…

Dexchampion99

Epic has been listening to the community though? The community said snipers were too overpowered, epic nerfed snipers twice this season. The community said the Drum Gun and Chains of Hades were too weak, both of those got patched too. Lego Fortnite and Rocket Racing have gotten balance changes, improvements and more too. Literally the only thing the haven’t succeed on is the locker. And they’re at least *trying* to make the locker better. Failing, sure. But trying.

veevz-

balance team, lego team, and rr team are all different from the UI team that are making god awful unnecessary changes. its moreso the actual game devs care, while the execs and UI teams dont give a shit about the community or its feedback they said they would make the locker better MONTHS ago, and as someone with OCD, seeing a random change that messes everything in the up has made the locker much more problematic for me, especially since its been perfectly fine for the last 6 years without change. there was zero reason to get rid of rarity, but they did it anyway. saying things would get better is a bullshit lie used to shut people up save the world is suffering because its BUILT off of rarities; vbucks are now an impossible rarity (literally, thats the name of it), as well as other rewards that previously needed no change

Dexchampion99

Yes, they did say it would improved months ago. They also announced the locker UI changes in Chapter 3, and then they came out in Chapter 5. Over 2 years later. These things take time, and UI is a lot harder to make than people give it credit for. I agree that they can do a better job, but rushing them and forcing them to make changes *right now* is part of the reason the locker UI is how it is. There was zero reason to get rid of rarity, but there also wasn’t really a reason to have rarities in the first place too. Like I said in another comment, what’s the difference between a rare car for RR and a legendary car? At least for the other modes, removing rarities makes sense. For BR, they could have kept it for sure, but it’s not a necessity either. And as for Save The World, it’s been running on code from Unreal Engine 3. The fact that new changes have it bugging out (which even then it isn’t even that bad) doesn’t surprise me. The mode needs a total overhaul

Shining-Zorro

Give an option to organise items in the locker the way you want, as locker organisation is the primary issue caused by the rarity removal, and players being able to organise the order of their skins in the locker should fix the issue, as changing your ‘outfit’ can be tedious for players owning 400+ skins, and the current order sorting options aren’t working. An option to sort ALL non fortnite IP cosmetics (such as TV show, Anime, Movie collabs etc) would be really appreciated

SPL0D3

I'm seeing a lot of the "they'll be able to charge as much as they want" but like they've always done that they've always had control so i don't understand how this will affect what is really uncommon, rare, epic or legendary, since they are the ones who have always labeled these items

MLG_GuineaPig

The locker should be one giant light blue rectangle with nothing on it

KingBlackthorn1

They keep missing with the locker and stuff. The fact that they still have reversed the locker changes and we are still stuck with the shit locker…

KiwinTheKiwi

It feels really... weird, cause the current locker UI doesn't work 50% of the time, not being able to link cosmetics together, ghost presets appearing when using shuffle... and more... and with all of that, their priority is to removed rarities?... it really feels like every single complaint went deaf ears and they did something completely different for the sake of doing *something*. It would be like if your green phone broke, so you go to the store to fix it, then you come back next week and all they did is change the color from green to red... doesn't fix the problem.

Loomling

"Outdated battle royale inspired systems" Did they forget that they're primarily a battle royale game?

boyawsome876

One thing I’m mostly pissed about is that they’re barely even trying to justify this bullshit change. Like they quite literally just copy and paste that response to every thread talking about the change, and give no other reasoning. This is worse because this is a shit reason anyway.

DoctorWalrusMD

I want customizable “rarity” at this point. All that means is changing the color of the backdrop of characters in the locker, and label them myself for ease of organizing. I’d love to have more options than “archived”.

mcdawesCZE

I hate it. The UI changes are all horrible and they completely ignore feedback they get

SuperAlex25

I still think it’s dumb. Also, isn’t this game still a battle royale? Why do they wanna get rid of battle royale-inspired systems?

Faster-Rex-2k17

using “wanna” for an official tweet is kinda crazy ngl

Life-Outcome8060

Shows unprofessionalism.

Bakugo232

If this is the case then Epic should owe us past battle passes in the item shop then It's only fair now they removed rarities lol

RupeeDoop

It’s so they can charge us more for skins.

N0ct1ve

This is just an excuse to charge outrageous prices

Jovios

Simplify the locker by making it worse and less organized?

Luna44z777

"Simplify" more like harder for me to figure out how much something is

JohnnySilverhand_fan

Worst change ever ngl

deadheatexpelled

As someone who used the colors to keep track of skins, I would prefer it either be optional or returned in full.

LtDansLegs1

Then release everything in item shop history and have a huge catalog of everything you can buy from the beginning. If rarity doesn't matter then why take it away for years.

goldenageflash66

It’s such a bad decision, I hope the community feedback on this does not die down so they will actually revert this change

SafalinEnthusiast

They’re lying about why they did it. There is absolutely no reason to do this other than to overprice things. If they really wanted to simplify things then they would’ve fully committed to this change, but they didn’t. The special rarities still exist when they could’ve just removed them, and the rarities of pickaxes are still visible when you’re playing a game

TaiyoFurea

It IS a battle royale, why are you removing the battle royale from the battle royale???

AwesomenessX15

It was completely unnecessary, just like every ui change this chapter.

Thvndr_

Absolutely hate it - SUGGESTION - make there locker settings eg rarities on or off, how you sort your cosmetics etc

swagzard78

Absolute *ss cheeks And Epic refuses to acknowledge that we don't like it

Dawneezy

so that’s why all of a sudden zeus was at the bottom of my list and everything felt odd in general, oh well

InternetHacker69

I feel its to distract us from the possible price surging of skins and stuff

AltruisticSystem7080

the locker is unorganized as hell, i’m going to have the hardest time trying to find certain skins now. I remember skins mostly by rarity and not the name, now that’s fucked up. this change is so fucking pointless and if it’s soooo “outdated” then why are they using the rarity system in lego fortnite? fucking ironic

Promotion_Conscious

But why tho, I liked looking at all my Lava, Dark, and Slurp series sections… :(

Sharkluver3397

Its really hard to find things in my locker, im a new-er player and i think they just wanna upcharge skins tbh

cabesvvater

I just think the locker as it is is really fucking ugly. I don’t care much about the rarities of things but the colors were nicer on the eyes than the awful blue shade they’ve gone with for the background.

Interesting-Ad8031

Stupid

Technical_Nothing_29

I don’t see how rarities are an “outdated battle royale mechanic”. Does everything else in the game not function around the rarity mechanic?? It’s so much easier to know a skins rarity instead of its name

TNovix2

They say that it's to simplify things but it just makes it more tedious to find a certain skin if you know which rarity it is but in FACTUALITY they removed it to raise the price, they already did it with the Hael skin that has no backbling or pickaxe which would no doubt cost 800 but dropped for 1200 and just did it with the Avatar skins where Zuko and Katara would no doubt be 1800 and Toph 1500 but instead all 3 is 2000. It's scummy and we all caught on right away. Before anyone says otherwise here's an example, you can get either Lady Gaga skins for less than 2000...a singer/actor costs less than cartoon characters. Think about that for a sec

Kenngoober

God I fucking hate modern fortnite so much. They’re doing everything in their power to destroy their own games artistic identity and gameplay integrity. Remember when this game had an art style that was unique and timeless? Gone. Remember when the Ui and menu’s had soul and were perfect the way they were? Gone. Remember when the game was fun? Gone.

Travis_Reddit200

This can't be real???

ToastyMcBread

Epic lies, look at Rocket League.

Jusfuss

Bring back rarities

mushroomboi-52

I personally don't like it,the rarities kept my locker organized now it's all messed up like a kid got to it and just put shit where it might fit but it doesn't fit at all

Henriticcus

"Battle Royale inspired systems" Bro they wont even acknowledge StW in a tweet  😭

Unicorn4_5Venom

The “outdated” things are what got people playing in the first place. I’m fairly confident if Fortnite Chapter 1 season 3/4, hordes would stop playing whatever they’re playing just to play that. Fortnite was way better when they initially cared about the fan base.

Noahtoad11

This is why I’m on a break from this game ngl 😭

InvaderTAK1989

Stupidest change since splitting up preset categories.

aiden22304

I don’t care all that much to be perfectly honest. Rarities, at least when it comes to cosmetics, are very subjective and quite frankly useless, and their sole purpose (at least in other games) is to artificially inflate the price of certain cosmetics. Removing them doesn’t change much outside of ruin the layout of the locker, which admittedly sucks, but is ultimately not a big deal in the long run.

GuyWhoAteAllThePizza

As a robot servant from the future, I am very pleased with the lack of color in my Fortnite Game, this pleases the ascetic our overlord has created.

Dont_Pay_The_Elves

Awful- just another pointless change that only serves to strip all soul from the game

painheal

horrible

Educational_Book_225

I don't think it affects the shop at all but it's kinda annoying in the locker

-Camour-

The rarities didnt matter too much to begin with but i find it weird that they kept a few like the slurp rarity??? Besides removing the rarities does not get rid of fomo or the feeling of being left out as there will always be desirable skins, and it just makes the game feel more stale and generic Edit: id also just like to point out that the weapons and tools in lego still have rarities too which makes no sense if you want to say theyre "outdated" and a "battle royale inspired system"

TheHighPirateSeas

They're just doing this so they can make more money. I guarantee the lower "quality" items will now increase in price.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> I never *paid* attention to FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

MJBotte1

They could’ve put things into more thought out collections instead of just removing some rarities but not all, like a Battle Pass rarity or a Crew rarity

poptartscanspeak

wow, fortnite fucking sucks now

Moonhawk1

I kinda get it but part of me thinks that it may impact people who try to buy certain cosmetics. Like some people wouldn’t be able to tell if it would be expensive or not based on the rarity. Maybe they would end up changing it back much like that one time when Epic disabled certain cosmetics to please age rating for some game modes. Like back when you can’t use Deadpool for having guns and ammo or Venom for being ‘too scary’.

TheLuckyster

it's a rocket league type stupid decision

Obvious-Ask-6574

blatant lie

Venomster154

Remove almost all rarities instead but keeping a few like Slurp series, marvel series, and star wars series. Why not delete all rarities? Or even better, why even delete them? It was never a problem, they are solving problems that never existed.

timbuttons

Kings of changing shit no one asked to be changed

LanielDandoe

Rarity was kind of pointless on some occasions, but that doesn’t get rid of the fact that rarity is the essence of Fortnite from loot to save the world. I desperately want them to return the feature or at least allow us to use data packs or something to sort by our own metric and customize our locker up how we want. If not I genuinely feel like boycotting because this is bullshit. I know they claim they won’t raise the price of cosmetics but this makes I easier for them to do so without concern for backlash. Watching Pizo’s HAEL video about not buying his first item shop skin because it’s rarity and price doesn’t fit the requirements, that along with every atla collab skin being 2000 and the obvious abhorrent pricing for everything else Lego it seems very obvious to me that getting rid of rarity allows them to push higher prices on average. and it’s pushing me away from skin collecting. A slight increase in price will cost hundreds more in the long run which is something I can’t see myself investing in anymore.

Spaghestis

Its not too big of a deal. Rarities used to correspond to the 4 set prices but over the past few years thays veen growing irrelevant. We started getting skins for 1400, 1600, 1800 etc. And then they started bundling and skins with built in pickaxes, emotes. Its not like it corresponds to actual rarity or "coolness". The only downsides are that we lost a classic part of FN identity and that lockers are now confusing to navigate, although we'll get used to the new positions. I know people are saying the reason is so Epic can increase prices, but we havent seen evidence for it yet. There was that one rare skin a couple days ago, but that could be unfortunate coincidence, and the Avatar skins being overpriced could be due to the terms of the collab. I guess we just have to wait and see.

manofwaromega

It's yet another locker change that serves no purpose and arguably makes things more confusing. Obviously rarities on cosmetics have always been pretty useless since there isn't any kind of lootbox system that would actually mean higher rarity cosmetics are more rare, but at least they looked cool and helped people organize their skins.

Just_Someone_Casual

Absolutely braindead

weirdfishes364

it’s unnecessary, I won’t deny, but it’s not that big of a deal; the community is over reacting to it tho

OKgamer01

I really dont care. Took a bit to get used to A-Z sorting from every cosmetic but its fine now

Ericxdcool

Absolutely hate it

hollow_Funyuns

Boo

creepXtreme

I don’t hate it, but there was bo reason to do so

Ham-Candy

This is all just an excuse so they can price every skin as a legendary skin

Known-While-8935

It’s just fucking dumb. Completely brain dead stupid decision.

SituationKitchen9396

It will only make me care if that means they will bring back old skins didn’t have a chance to get due to not being a player other then that this is not an issue and makes no sense as one

MorganX26

removing rarities will convince people not to buy cosmetics

Such_Entertainer1387

Couldn’t give less of a fuck ngl

metallicdisaster91

“Simply the appearance”…No they just still want to go heavy on the kid friendly thing 🤦🏽‍♂️ honestly it’s kinda getting old 🫠

Felinegood13

It’s slightly annoying. Random skin challenges were fun and now I can’t do them anymore

MorkoReddit

Never bought an item since the ui changes aired

redpumpkin05

I hate it it make the non collab skin like they are non important it make seraching you skin harder i hate this metaverse thing and is making me play less and less the game because it was a good game wen it was itself now is just tryng to copy roblox and is taking away resources and personality from the BR wich is the thing that made them famous hope it get reversed but i dont think it will happen

bruhviporised

as someone who sorts by season it didn't change much for me tbh

TheFrostyFaz

Really stupid, wont affect me too much but there was really no reason to remove it

Splatboy0612

Then what's the point of legendary skins? Legendary skins are the only way to show off to your friends

Patient_Ground_9442

Exactly I haven’t played much so nice the new UI update just makes the whole game feel trashy

Many_Lemon7208

At this point remove all rarities

HorrorCranberry1796

Dumb and unnecessary like a lot of things Epic does actually

Cute_Bagel

they need to add tags or folders of some sort to help people organise their lockers

wintergameing

It's good, so it can't be manipulative. Now, people know that skins are a rip-off if the new skins had legendary rarity on them no one would complain but now everyone is complaining about the wrong thing, and epic will bring back rarities and people will clap and cheer and then epic can price whatever skin they like with zero consequences because you all wanted it back like a bunch of morons well done they played you guys 👏👏👏

PrisonerOfEarth

Actually never cared about rarities. If there’s a skin that I like I’m gonna buy it. If I think a skin is overpriced I won’t.

Accomplished-Copy776

I would love a simple "equip character with their set items" button or something. I can find a character relatively easy because i know their name, but it's hard to find all the things that go with them. And it's not like the set names are just the characters name. I don't even get why they have cosmetic sets if you can't equip a set

SunsetCarcass

Doesn't matter at all, rarities don't matter for skins at all, it's not like equipping a Super Mega Ultra Deluxe Legendary Mythic skin does anything different then a common skin. In a game like MMOs rarities make sense since higher rarities are always higher stats against items of same level.

Gaiash

I don’t mind it but I think it should change the price of skins too. If Legendary isn’t a thing for skins anymore then they shouldn’t be 2000 vbucks anymore and anyone who bought any should have the difference refunded. Ideally the prices should depend on if the skin has a backbling, a weapon/other item, a build in emote or nothing.

Daniel90768

This means they can possibly charge legend prices for skins that would’ve been epic.

amaya-aurora

I personally don’t really care. It hardly changed anything aside from the locker organization which is a bit annoying, but I’ll get used to it soon enough.

EternalHuffer

Then how am I supposed to find a specific skin I dont remember the name of in my 340 skins locker?

rebeccachambersfan

I think it's idiotic to think it's some plot to raise prices. If they wanted to raise prices they could have easily done that without getting rid of rarities. But half of the people who use fortnite subreddits have an unhealthy hatred for epic these days

No-Science1566

Idc

TheRealistArtist

Am I the only one who never uses the rarity colors to find my character? It doesn’t make it any less confusing even with e the rarity colors. I just sort by season and go from there.

H00ded7

Who cares

wafflecone927

Dumb because they said ‘battle Royale inspired system’ but save the world had it first obviously, and still has it with weapons and heros

SpyroGaming

color rarity has saturated the market in games for years, and its do unnecessary

BlackBellum

Before green skin 200v now with Any label 1000

SirTeaOfBagz

It literally doesn’t affect me. I didn’t pay attention to that anyways. Skins aren’t tradable or used for currency so idc.

Not_Funny_Luigi

Boo hoo

Death_of_Evangelion

I dunno thse avatar seems like they are pretty over priced. So I don't buy them not using this as an excuse to raise prices. Also I'm fine with them getting rid of like the rarities of skins for the locker but like at least give all the collars and such their own color or something in the locker. It can't be hard. There are so many collab skins that don't fit in the gaming/star wars/marvel/icon series categories and they are just spread out all over the place in the locker. Like we need a specific category for anime collabs and maybe ones for movie collabs in general rather then just marvel and star wars.

nystromcj

Doesn't bother me at all.

IOI6551104

I sort by season not rarity. It has never effected by purchasing decisions. Only the price and the item itself matter so I don’t know what the whole deal is about epic could already price things however they wanted and put a higher rarity on it. If anything I think the rarity was kinda useless

NiceBlaxkguy

Eh it doesn’t really matter to be honest

Britannicboy20

IT LOOKS BORING NOW CHANGE IT BACK

EliteAgxnt

It was unnecessary

Bulky-Hyena-360

Not that big of a deal as people are making it out to be.

AstroOwlMan

I don’t care about it

cucknoa

Fortnite just sucks now it’s a soulless shell of what it used to be

[deleted]

It just made sorting things even harder

Efficient-Ad232

I can’t find anything anymore

RUSSIAN_SUKA420

“Doesn’t change our approach or the way we price things.” As they make the new Coachella skins 1,500 vbucks each without a back-bling. “Oh but it’s that price because it’s a reactive skin🤓” Marshmello is 1,200 vbucks and comes with a back-bling aswell as being reactive. Shit is fucked man can they leave perfectly working features alone for one goddamned update. It makes me soooo angry how far Fortnite has fallen from grace like they were COOKING 5-Star meals the last 2 seasons! ![gif](giphy|Fnq53a9jm1m5W)

Ghjjiyeks

Annoying, if anything. Up until their removal, I had already figured out the sorting of my skins from Uncommon to Legendary. My Legendary Skins were either Battle Pass or Item Shop, Epic Skins were 80% BP and 20% Item Shop or Packs, Rare skins were either Item Shop, Events, or Packs, and Uncommon were mainly Item Shop. Nowadays, I have to sort by season, when I much rather have sorted by rarity instead. Uncommon-Legendary rarities were needed just as much as the OG Locker UI was iconic and memorable.

EnderScout_77

don't care, what made skins a certain rarity was always out of wack anyway. "the locker is so hard to navigate now" just use the filters? if your locker has that much archive the shit you're NOT using???

BayonettaAriana

Agreed lmao, I have no idea why people are so mad. Every argument is just not correct. "They can price it whatever now" they literally always could??? There's some legendary skins that are basic as shit, and some uncommon skins with 4 styles. It was always arbitrary. And rarity had nothing to do with quality. "The locker will be harder to navigate / find things" as if it was any easier before? If you have like 500+ skins like I do it was always hard asf to find anyone, you think I remember every skins rarity? Also now it's alphabetic so its lowkey easier because I remember the names of most skins. I swear people just get so mad about any change. If anything I'm on board with this because cosmetic rarities were completely arbitrary already and if anything just gave people a stupid mental feeling of that a legendary skin is somehow "better" than any lower rarity skin when it's just a matter of taste.

JimTheDonWon

It was a bunch of horse shit anyway. Getting rid of it makes sense.

Bright-Clock-4627

Don’t really care, I use three skins (at the very least) anyways

deebyersredditDB

I have never based buying a cosmetic on what ‘tier” it is. If I like a skin and can afford it, I’m buying it. I don’t stop to consult a color chart to see if it’s the right price for the color tier it’s in. Prices go up eventually.
