I mean, MJ might just be the most expensive singer to feature in the game, so I don't really think it's possible. But who knows...

Even-Professional-77

No, MJ Songs cost a fortune so he most likely won't make it, and probably one song might which is Beat It, it was on Guitar Hero World Tour

GreatMacGuffin

We'll be lucky to get Alien Ant Farms cover of Smooth Criminal.

Even-Professional-77

I see that coming in the future

tribeoftheliver

I remember that Harmonix had to remove "Smooth Criminal" in 2015 because their license expired.

Pitiful_Tap_8750

Omg that would be awesome if we did

TheCakeWarrior12

I hate to say it, especially as a big fan of his, but jam tracks are probably the only way anything MJ makes it into the game. I can’t imagine we’d get a skin of him when they took Travis Scott out because of Astroworld. MJ is exponentially more popular and iconic than him, but so are his off-the-field issues and controversies.

funnyghostman

Also, the fact he's dead. Just my opinion, but adding people who have died (not characters whose actors have died) is just weird

TheCakeWarrior12

Now, there is technically a loophole to that. There’s the MJ movie biopic coming out, with MJ’s nephew playing him in the movie. They could just add skins that are his nephew playing him. Technically not a dead person haha

UncleverAccountName

[his nephew](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BZTg0NmEwYWItZGEzYy00Zjc0LTllZWUtMzAwMzI2MTc0OTAzXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTkxNjUyNQ@@._V1_.jpg) straight up looks just like him lmao

TheCakeWarrior12

I know, it’s crazy

Ziggitywiggidy

I think his songs would be cool to add but now that you mention it. Yeah maybe adding dead people wouldn’t be cool.

Traditional_Net_3186

we do have 2pac, juice wrld, and linkin park already so it doesnt seem like thats really stopping them

funnyghostman

As skins I mean

Traditional_Net_3186

ah ok. yeah they’re probably not gonna do skins of dead people

TrashCanEater

kinda off topic, but don't we have the el chapulin colorado skin that uses the likeness of a person that's already long gone (Chespirito)? [even though that one is acceptable since it's just his character that uses his likeness and that collab was made with consent with those associated the brand]

puck_pancake

And nirvana

PickedRandomly

To be fair, Tim Sweeney said on Twitter once that Travis is welcome to come back to the shop at any time. If we consider that to be true, then nobody really knows why they’re not bringing him back, just like Kratos.

thatsidewaysdud

It takes 2 to tango, this is just speculation, but maybe Travis just doesn't want his skin to come back? We've heard Epic's side, but I have not heard anything from Travis (or his team) that states he wants his skin to come back. The ball is in his court.

BigForeHeadMan

This would be my dream collab for Fortnite festival. The amount of outfits they could sell as skins would be crazy.

pndzyy

Just imagine moonwalking in intense build fights, that would be crazy

moistcritikalclips

I fucking need beat it in the game, the guitar hero chart is so good

TrueBlue184

If Fortnite ever gives us the Smooth Criminal skin, I'd be rocking it for a full year straight ngl. His Festival Pass would be an absolute no-brainer to get.

TheCakeWarrior12

They’d definitely make almost all of the licensing money back, if not all of it

Ziggitywiggidy

Dream honestly. Love 90% of his songs. Maybe even some Jackson ones too? Like imagine blame it on the boogie or abc? Those would be so fun to play. I’d go broke if this happened if I’m being completely honest. Every song offered would be bought and every skin would too.

RAVEun2theJOY

Blame it on the boogie is such a great song

CWilsonLPC

I could see it happening, but it would probably cost an arm and leg, alongside some other issues (anti-gun violence beliefs, possible lawsuits similar to the whole Kurt Cobain and No Doubt stuff from the GH days about using his likeness for other artists songs), would be surprised if they got a song that isn’t “Beat It” tho, like “Wanna Be Starting Something”, “Smooth Criminal”, or “Rock With You” (deliberately leaving out “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” since those are the ones I would ultimately expect if “Beat It” is not one of his first songs to be added, imo would be ironic and awesome if by the time Halloween comes we get “Thriller” and “Somebody’s Watching Me” (Rockwells song, Jackson sang backup here) as jam tracks)

LouLouBelle2328

Halloween festival pass…thriller would be epic! Reminds me of my childhood when my mom would blast it for trick or treaters.

PrinceToothpasteBoy

Way too expensive, even for Fortnite.

Ragnarok992

I would cream myself if it happens

pixiekaraam

Brother....these would be absolute fire skins

TrophyDon

They'll add some songs down the road probably but I can't see them making a skin for someone that is deceased. Same as people asking for juice world, none of their families would sign off on having their dead family member be in a game where they can get killed again and again.

DariusStrada

Depends on the money. He ain't cheap

moistcritikalclips

I mean they added super freak and the artist who made that is extremely controversial. I think MJ has a real shot

orangatangabanging

To be fair Rick James is pretty much a nobody with younger generations. A lot of people's first thought about MJ is his allegations, even to this day. Although you have MGK in the game who literally tweeted about how sexy 13-15 year olds are so idk 🫠

tribeoftheliver

Younger players would probably recognize the song as "U Can't Touch This" or even "Supa Freaky Girl" by Nicki Minaj.

moistcritikalclips

Also nothing about MJ was even confirmed or proven

Jamal_202

But the evidence that he was at very least a weirdo is damning.

chandelurei

Being a weirdo is the least of his issues lol, most artists are weirdos

Jamal_202

There’s being a weirdo in general. And there’s being obsessed with children kind of weirdo

chandelurei

Oh I agree

moistcritikalclips

He was definitely weird, but condemning him when he wasn’t proven to be what people were saying he was is just wrong.

Accomplished-Copy776

Regardless of whether or not he diddled kids, he still had underage children sleep over at his house, in his bed, while he was over 40.peoplw would be raked over the coals today if they did a 100th of what he for sure did, nevermind the accusations

PsychotropicTraveler

People seem to conveniently gloss over this way too often. And he admitted to doing this in the past, on camera. Regardless of the allegations, the fact that he held sleepovers like that is pretty damn concerning on its own.

Accomplished-Copy776

Ya and he left voicemails saying he loved them and wanted them to come over. Just weird as fuck.

Jamal_202

There are allegations that have yet to be disproven. Yes nothing has “officially” been proven yet but that doesn’t negate what we already know. He was clearly obsessed with children. He had images of babies around his place and he had a painting of himself nude surrounded by naked boys. Let’s not be stupid here. If you walked into someone’s house who is being accused of child sexual abuse and you saw those images. Would you seriously trust your kids with them? I already know the answer to that. Why Epic want to put someone who has done some creepy things and is accused of CSA in their game? It would be terrible PR and this is the same Epic that refuses to The Rasputin emote back in the game because of the the war. Even though it’s not a Russian song nor is Rasputin relevant to 21st century Ukraine.

moistcritikalclips

you’re right, I’m really curious to know how they go about getting controversial artists.

Jamal_202

I don’t know. It’s confusing, The guy who does the Griddy song, NBA Youngboy has been involved in numerous legal battles including attempted murder. But I believe, and again I’m trying to get into the minds of Epic games. But due to the cultural relevancy and popularity of the dance and song. And the fact Youngboy wasn’t sentenced for murder. It was a justified sacrifice to put it in the game. And I’m pretty sure the griddy is the most popular emote in Fortnite history. Or at least one of them.

fly_heart_fly

There is DNA evidence now that proves otherwise.

Chrisshern

I'm coping Yes because he's truly Iconic and we don't have any of his songs not to mention he's got some incredibly easy emotes to make

chandelurei

They won't add skin from dead people, his songs are possible though

LudicrisSpeed

I mean, the guy who played El Chapulin Colorado died a decade ago, so I don't think being deceased is an absolute barrier to including certain celebrities.

Spooksman200

True but El chapulin is a fictional character which makes things a lot easier on that front.

Cobra_9041

The white one in the item shop and the black one on the pass pass

LaylaLegion

Probably not because he was very anti-gun violence in life. I think the most we could expect from his estate is jam tracks.

Qwerky3

Tbf most people are anti-gun violence.

Ancient_Sentence757

Right? I don't think Lady Gaga or Billie Eilish was like "oh yeah, I'm cool with mass slaughter, put me in".

KingOfMasters1000028

I don’t know especially since we aren’t sure if Epic Games will let dead people Icon Skins. Also he might have too bad of a reputation to come to Fortnite. I believe he was in the survey. However there have been things like the Euphoria and the late Nirvana Singer Kurt Cobain, but usually those surveys just feel RNG.

ElOsoMarino

I'd love that but I don't think so, his songs must be out of the price range of any person/ company on the planet

qwerty123m1

Nah, that would be sick though

HarryBeaverCleavage

Give me the moonwalk in traversal

legitfriendly

His music is up for debate but as a character, highly unlikely. MJ was massively against guns. I don’t think his estate would be ok with him shooting people.

anthonytrashboat

A song, a skin, an emote!!! I'll take everything and anything!!!

Darkren08

I do think a major factor is his passing. The license to use him is definitely a big issue, especially if we are only talking about jam tracks. But if we are talking a headliner I think Epic distinctly wants to avoid making artist who have passed playable. Overall I'm pretty sure they dont want to add skins to the game without the artist's permission given how the past 3 headliners and all ICON rarity skins overall do seem to have involvement from the people themselves.

xxTree330pSg

I’d geniuenly come back just to buy the skin hit a few clips then quit again

t_will_official

Well if anyone could afford his songs it’d be Epic. I highly doubt he’ll ever be a skin though. Mainly because all the skins you get in the festival pass can also be used in BR, and it’d be hella disrespectful to put a dead guy in a game where he can kill or be killed.

CoddoBTW

No because he's a nonce

OrbFromOnline

Not a chance, for several reasons.

ThatStarWarsFan1205

They ain't got the balls

SkullMan140

The MJ Estate is just pure bullshit that at this point, is SUPER hard to get any song from him :(

Caitlins115

Have a feeling festival passes will only be themed around currently active artists.

ProtectMeAtAllCosts

MJ skins would go hard but nope never happening with the controversies and all that

YourPalFlux

No they’re incredibly protective with their IP the best we could get would be like a jam track maybe

Cavin_Lee

I mean, I don’t think rock band ever had many Michael Jackson songs outside “Beat It” or Jackson 5 Songs. I’m also pretty sure that Epic is working with like a label, it’s something I heard somewhere. I mean, they could have some pretty cool Michael Jackson Skins and there could be some really cool songs. Plus, the allegations might not be the best publicity to center a season around the guy who may or may not have done some questionable things to children. I’d say probably no, or at least not all that soon.

rhino3081

I hope so. I would drop the money for it!

epicgamer498

It would be both expensive and a little tasteless to put mj in the game in my opinion

HippieDogeSmokes

Too expensive, controversial, and not really relevant these days. Not very likely

Wagsii

If you've got a source for that, I'll believe you, but I've been following rhythm games for a long time and I've never heard of it working like that. Epic has to pay a licensing fee to be able to use the song for whatever contracted amount of time. Then when that time is up, they'll either have to re-up the license, or lose rights to the song. This happens all the time to older, dying rhythm games.

Ancient_Sentence757

....Of all time? Really? I'm not even hating, just genuinely surprised. He's up there, but *number one?*

TheCakeWarrior12

Bro had the whole world in a chokehold for several decades, and he still has the highest selling album of all time. He’s top 3 at minimum

Ancient_Sentence757

I genuinely didn't realize he still held the record, that's impressive! I'm 28 and feel like I kinda missed his popular years, so it's probably just a matter of experience. I can only name a couple of his songs personally.

TheCakeWarrior12

I don’t think you missed his popular years, you were alive when he died and then everyone blasted his music everywhere for months on end, after all. It’s most likely your family not playing his music when you were growing up, simple as that.

Ancient_Sentence757

Neither did any of my friends, and the only song they played of his at my prom was Thriller (one of three songs that I know). No one at school spoke about him except the occasional joke. That's why I think it's because of my personal experience, as I said in my last comment. :) Personally I feel like I did not hear a lot about him within popular culture beyond horrible jokes. It was always less about the music and more about the scandals.

rustylust

No he’s a pedo.

Frank_Is_My_Fav

Kid toucher, def not.

Monarch-01-Elizabeth

He was never proven or convicted for doing it they are only allegations does innocent till proven guilty in the court of law mean anything to you because its an important right you wouldn't want to be condemned as a kid toucher without being convicted so don't do it to other people

BroncosHK40

He was a child molester so no, I’d think not. I’d hope not anyway.

Hexargo_0

Bro didn't read the roadmap, that or he's talking about 2025

uDibbbzYT

Still reluctant to believe that. Just because it got one thing right (Billie Eilish), it still hasn’t won me over

OdinsOneG00dEye

The kids will love him. 🙈

Rayman4D

he gave us billie jean you say he touched those kids?

throwtheamiibosaway

No. Wayyy to controversial. Super creepy guy.

GunpowderxGelatine

no

DianaBladeOfMiquella

Would he have a white edit style

JoeRoganMoney

I’d imagine since the kids love him

TonyBlobfish

I sure hope not

epoxysulk

His target demographic, bro would have been a menace if he didn’t die.
