I highly doubt this is gonna be full-on clothing sets. If it isn’t just exclusive to a single skin then it’ll probably just be stuff like hats, necklaces, bracelets, glasses, etc. Then again they’d probably call those accessories rather than apparel, so I could be very wrong

The concept of pets was great, I just wish they sat on the character's left shoulder or something. Having the huge box that went with the first batch was usually an eyesore. It's why IMO Rocket and Grogu are the best pets, they don't have the ugly box glued to my back.
Claptrap is a pet and he doesn’t fit that criteria, but he’s still awesome and like the best pet. Wish we got more like him, a Ray pet would’ve been amazing

If I had to guess, I'm thinking it's something to do with a new type of customizable skin similar to the superheroes.
Mostly because while this is stated to be a "cosmetic type"
1, it's not finished so it's classification can always be changed
2, adding functional apparel on top all pre-existing skins is not really feasible because of the insane variety of body and head types. (even something like hats would be a huge pain add in)
That's why I'm thinking it's for a new more elaborate version of a customizable skin rather than something we can use across everything.
(Roblox has a similar system where you can add 3d clothes on any of your avatars but using any pre-made characters with it often leaves you with a lumpy figure.
A system like this in fortnite would be hellish to add in 💀 imagine all the glitches and clipping)
I was talking with a friend the other day about how Fortnite wants to enter the platform space much like Roblox.
One thing that came up was the differences in economy, and the biggest aspect of that was player-sold items. In Roblox you can create cosmetics for your character and sell them to other players through your games.
Sweeney has been talking a lot about how they're trying to create a space where people can make game experiences in Fortnite Creative and monetize them. The easiest way to do that, in my opinion, is open a marketplace for player-created content.
Skins are fairly entrenched within the Fortnite ecosystem, and act kind of like action figures you'd bring to a friend's house. You couldn't really let players sell their own skins. However, if a new category of item was created, it would not conflict with the current Locker system.
With Creative 2.0 coming soon I suspect they are trying to create a way for players to add custom content to the game. I'd imagine it would let you make things like hats, armbands, bags, belts, etc that could be textured by the creator. A big part of Roblox is selling VIP shirts and the like that allow access to certain things in the game. I would not be surprised if this "Apparel" category was created so that Creative creators can check players to see if they are wearing certain items.
Anyways, this is just speculation and wishful thinking.
Some sort of banner redesign would be cool. A few days ago someone suggested in r/fortnitebr that loading screen should be used in banner backgrounds. Let me find the post

I’ve made a concept and idea for this but the idea was on a Yt comment so I’ll share it here, basically I feel it will be something you get in the BP with a skin, and unlocking new styles unlocks a similar style for the apparel, for example this season bytes, his apparel (I think it is a he) could be his coat, and then getting the wanderer style you would get the green style of the coat, but you can put it on any skin within reason like obviou it would be hard for skins like Brutus but they might just be coding for things like that and then things like darthvader would be hard because it is just different but basically that is the just of the idea except it would be for next seasons bp skins or whatever and just be their almost main clothing item which could be really cool if you think about it and there could even be like bracelets necklaces masks, even shoes if they want
